Benjamin Dyer Crutcher, a retired maintenance controller with the U.S. Air Force, died November 21, 1999 at a Fort Worth hospital. Born January 3, 1920 in Miami, FL, he retired in 1972 from Cape Kennedy Air Force Base, where he worked with the Apollo Program. He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, and taught optical technology at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute from 1978-1986. He and his wife moved to Fort Worth in 1995. Full Military Honors will be afforded MSgt. Crutcher at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 24, 1999, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sarah Crutcher of Fort Worth; daughters, Pamela Schaff and Susan Crutcher, both of Azle and a grandson, Justin Schaaf of Azle. Eugene Charles Gunther passed away November 20, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Gunther; three sons, Tim Gunther of Los Lunas, NM, Ted R. Gunther of Albuquerque, Gene Gunther of Denver, CO; six daughters, Jane Castillone and husband Raphael of Normal, IL, Mary Hoshito and husband, Dennie of Colorado Springs, CO, Chery Otero and husband, Reverend Denies of Albuquerque, NM, Cindy Walker and husband, Bruce of Albuquerque, Marcy Gunther of Albuquerque, and Beth Gunther of Albuquerque; one sister, Lillian Juech and husband, Dan of Albuquerque; one brother; Emil Gunther and wife, Sophie of Sheboygan, WI. Eugene cherished his large family. He attended the CBI Campaign and received a bronze star medal. He was in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the WWII, Korean War. He was an avid Greenbay Packer fan. He enjoyed golf, horses and was an equestrian skilled rider. Eugene was a member of the American Legion Post 69, and attended the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church since 1970. Friends may visit Wednesday, November 24, 1999 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alameda Mortuary. A Memorial service will be Wednesday evening, November 24, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Services to be entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St. NW, Norbert 'Ray' Baldonado Jr. F.S.I.

Joshua Elias Hebert November 21, 1972 - November 21, 1999 survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen; sons, Clayton and Caleb; mother, Janet Hebert; father, David Hebert; brothers, Jeremy and Jason; grandparents, Roger and Betty Madsen. Josh was a loving son, husband, father, and brother. He brought so much joy to everyone he touched. He will be missed by all. Services will be held Wednesday, November 24, at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo, at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.

George 'Tio George' Jaramillo, age 83, born in Cuba, NM, March 13, 1917, passed away Sunday, November 12, 1999. He was preceded in death by his father, Rey Jaramillo; his mother, Christina Garcia; brothers, Rey, Alfredo, Atonacia and Mariano; sisters, Eufima, Senida Casaus and Trinidad Ramirez; his sons, Roberto and Richard Ricardo. He is survived by his loving wife, Ernestina; his daughter, Christina Jaramillo; his sons, George Jr., Florencio and Toribio; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and many good friends. George was a member of Conservation Corps. of Son Luis Obispo. He served in WWII and survived the Normandy Landing. Returning to his hometown after the war, he later moved to the Albuquerque, where he retired after 20 years as a mail subcontractor. He enjoyed his retirement years working for the Bernalillo Senior Center. A Rosary will be recited today, November 23, 1999 at 7:00 p.m., this evening, at the Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo. The time and place for the Mass of Christian Burial is pending. Interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St. NW, Gary F. Santillanes, C.F.S.P.

Mr. Michael Jude Jaramillo was called home to the Lord Saturday in Albuquerque at the age of 37. He is survived by his parents, Leon and Mary Rita Jaramillo; grandfather, Pedro Crespin; special aunt, Emerlinda Crespin; brother, Leon Jaramillo Jr. and wife, Angelia, all of Alameda; sister, Gertrude Padilla and husband, Stephen of Albuquerque; three nieces, AnnaMarie Padilla, Victoria Padilla and Melanie Jaramillo; two nephews, Marc Padilla and Leon Jaramillo III; many aunts and uncles; and a host of friends he made wherever he went. Funeral Services for Michael will be held on Wednesday at the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the San Carlos Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Padilla, Alfonso Ortiz, Steve Torrez, Santiago Maul, Claudio Marino and Antonio Miranda. Honorary pallbearers will be Marc Padilla, Leon Jaramillo III, Michael Rael, Jason Wolfel, Roberto Torrez, Rupert Trujillo and Joe Berbigla. A Rosary for Michael will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Arrangements by the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Harley W. Krohn, Lt. Col., US Air Force retired, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, November 21, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rita A. Krohn; children, JoAnn Tennison and husband, Donald of Bosque Farms, Kurt H. Krohn and wife, Leslie, RaeLynn Teller and husband, Louis, Mark P. Krohn and companion, Lois Leisker and Chris J. Krohn and wife, Patricia Nagel, all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Elliott and wife, Marisol, Thomas, Dirk, Jennifer, Lauren and Kyle; one great-grandchild, Izzac; brothers, Vernon Krohn and wife, Is, Marvin Krohn, Henry Krohn and wife, Robbie, and Donald Krohn and wife, Dee; and many other family and friends. Mr. Krohn was preceded in death by several brothers; one sister; and one grandson. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Mr. Krohn retired from the United States Air Force in 1969 and after 28 years of service. Mrs. Hutson (Anna deZeumar) Lee, age 100, died peacefully Thursday evening, November 18, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM. The Funeral Requiem will be Tuesday, November 23, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at the Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver SW, with The Very Reverend David F. K. Puckett, Dean, officiating. Interment will take place on Friday, November 26, 1999, in Baltimore's Woodlawn Cemetery. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Jerry Lovato, 61 year old, resident of Albuquerque, died November 18, 1999 in Ballman Park, California. He is survived by his mother, Emma Lovato; wife, MaryJoe Lovato; three sons, Lawrence, Chris, and Leroy; five grandchildren; and brothers, Leroy and his wife, Dora, Bernie Lovato, Ross Lovato, Ray-Gene and his wife, Janie, and Richard and his wife, Frances. Jerry was laid to rest in Ballman Park, CA. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Virginia Lucero will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Therese Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by the Salazar and Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

On Sunday, November 21, 1999, a very kind and quiet man, Procopio 'Pete' Lucero was called home by our Lord. Pete left this world in the arms of his wife, Fannie N. Lucero, to go see his mom and dad, who, in his own quiet way, always thought of them. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Margarita Lucero; brothers, Andres Lucero Jr. and wife, Ida, Frank B. Lucero and Guadalupe Lucero; grandsons, George Anthony Newman and Sammy B. Newman. Pete leaves behind his wife and friend, Fannie N. Lucero; step-son, George Lee Newman and wife, Rose C. Newman, who he raised as his own son and taught him to put a clean, white handkerchief in his pocket every day, taught him to put a shine on his shoes, and to iron his shirts with a military crease. Pete also leaves behind a beloved niece, Margaret and husband, Ray Gomez, who he loved so much because they came and told him jokes and sang songs; a nephew, Leo Lucero, who visited him every day at Paloma Blanca; and his little friend next door, Philipeto Spencer and his beloved puppy, 'Coyote '. Mr. Lucero was life member of the American Legion Post 69. Funeral services for Mr. Lucero will be held Wednesday at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the DAV Chapter 3 and the American Legion Post 69 with Joe Montoya. Pallbearers will be Ray Gomez, Richard Gomez, and George Lucero. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the DAV Chapter 3 and American Legion Post 69. Visitation for Mr. Lucero will be held on Tuesday, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., in the mortuary chapel. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening, 7:00 p.m., at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice. Richard 'Dick' Martin, a nuclear engineer for Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for 33 years, died after a short battle with cancer on November 8, 1999, in his home in Livermore. He was 61. Born on July 2, 1938 in Easton, PA, he had lived in Livermore for 31 years. Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army for four years. He enjoyed woodworking, and his spare time, he was 'Mr. Fix-it.' He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anne Martin of Livermore; a son, Jeffrey Martin of Livermore; a sister, Grace Brooks of Albuquerque; and one grandchild. A Memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, in the Chapel of Callahan Mortuary, 3833 East Ave., Livermore. Burial was private.

Rhonda Mills, 54, passed away in Santa Fe, after a short illness. Rhonda attended Tracy and Manteca schools and was a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irma and Ronald Mills. Her affiliations included the Pastel Society, New Mexico Faceter's Guild, American Society for Microbiology and the University of California Alumni of New Mexico. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Schleiss; niece, Jennifer Medeiros and husband, Anthony; grandniece, Annaleigh Medeiros; and grandnephew, Robert Medeiros, all of Santa Fe. Donations may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Children's Art Program, P.O. Box 301435, Texas 77230-1435. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa, Santa Fe, 984-8600.

Pablo H. Nieto, born June 6, 1945, passed away Thursday, November 18, 1999. He is survived by one son, Pablo Nieto Jr. of Albuquerque; his mom, Veneranda Nieto of Albuquerque; two brothers, Eddie Nieto and wife, Mary E. of Albuquerque, Isidro and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque; two sisters, Ester Rodriguez of Laredo, TX, Georgia Candelaria of Rio Rancho; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Tony Martinez in April of 1995; two brothers-in-law, Mario Rodriguez in August 1999 and Steve Candelaria in August 1998. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Metropolitan Direct Burial and Cremation Center, Inc., 729 San Mateo Blvd. NE.

Ellen Orlovsky, 63, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1979, died Saturday, November 20, 1999. She is survived by her sons, James Cook and wife, Cheryl of Shawnee, OK, Geary Cook and wife, Dianna of Weatherford, TX, and John Orlovsky and wife, Kelly of Albuquerque; daughter, Wanda Santomenna and husband, Michael of Los Lunas, NM; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE. Interment will follow at Mountain Valley Cemetery near Edgewood. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to time of service.

Melba L. Pierson, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Saturday, November 20, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy Englebrecht and husband, Lloyd of Farmington and Marjorie Coco and husband, Charles of Oceanside, CA; sons, Gary L. Pierson of Albuquerque and Ted Pierson and wife, Sue of Bosque Farms; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pierson was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Pierson. She was a member of First Christian Church in Griswold, IA and attended First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Bishop Floyd D. Haake Jr. officiating. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Helen R. Pirkey, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Saturday, November 20, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Herbert Pirkey III and wife, Pamela of Denver, CO, David V. Pirkey of Albuquerque, and Gary D. Pirkey of Albuquerque; daughter, Diane K. Nolen and husband, John of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, April M. Nolen of Albuquerque; three sisters, Dorothy M. Davidson and husband, Buddy of Bath, NC, Shirley J. Young and husband, Jarry of Salem, VA, and Joyce A. Harrison and husband, Clinton of Vinton, VA; and brother, Jerry W. Ross of Richmond, VA. Mrs. Pirkey was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Pirkey Jr. in August 1996. She was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church, where she was active in the Ruth Sunday School class, and she was employed at their school as the 'nap-lady ', helping with the young children. Mrs. Pirkey was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and she was a Red Cross volunteer for many years. She retired from J.C. Penney after 15 years with them. Mrs. Pirkey, a devout Christian mother, is also fondly remembered for her 'Teddy bear' collection and for being an avid reader. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris NE, with Pastors Larry Miller and Errol Stepp officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Moyer, Ronald Showalter, Mynard Zender, Charles Lowe, James Delleney, and Ted James, Tom Clark and Tommy Donham. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Monday, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association of NM, 525 San Pedro NE, #101, 87108. Frank Sanchez Jr. (Paco), 49, passed away Friday, November 19, 1999 after a lengthy illness. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of Frank and Guadalupe Sanchez. He leaves behind wife, Delia (Dee) Sanchez; son, Frank Sanchez III; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Veronica Baca-Bernel (Joseph Bernel); and many close friends, all in the Akron area. His New York family which he leaves behind includes three aunts, Francis Irizarry, Julia Comacho and Carmen Sanchez; and several close cousins. His New Mexico family includes mother-in-law, Barbara Brusuelas, Marcelina (Grandma) Gutierrez; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and close friends. Cremation has already taken place. (CREMATION SOCIETY OF OHIO, 535-1012).

Josephine Elenora Sandoval, born March 14, 1925 in Raton, New Mexico, departed us on November 20, 1999, at the age of 74 to continue her life with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her father, Octaviano Ulibarri; and her mother, Lucy Trujillo-Grier. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Reuben Sandoval; daughter, Yvonne Strascina and husband, Jak; son, Gary Sandoval and wife, Pam; grandchildren, Ian and Meghan Strascina, Mackenzie and David Jason Sandoval, and Wendy Jo Zottneck; great-granddaughter, Baleigh Nicole and great-grandson, Johnathan. She is also survived by brothers, Abe Ulibarri and wife, Cindy, and Ervin Ulibarri and wife, Sharon; sisters, Viola Schammell and husband, Al, and Dolores (Dolly) Welshiemer and husband, Bob; and step-mother, Lita Ulibarri. She leaves behind 36 nieces and nephews, and will be missed by her many friends at the Grand Court Retirement Community. She was a member of Church of the Risen Savior. She retired from civil service with over 20 years of service. She had worked at Los Alamos during the war and at Kirtland AFB. Upon Mrs. Sandoval's retirement, she was devoted to many ministries such as Activities Director for Queen of Heaven prayer group. She also played guitar and sang in several church choirs. She was active in Intercessory Prayer Line and served as a Eucharistic Minister to the hospital patients and to the home-bound. Mrs. Sandoval's hobbies included her love of music coupled with her love of many arts and crafts. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:00p.m., at Sandia Funeral Care. Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, at Church of the Risen Savior, with Rev. Paul Baca as Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Diabetes Association or Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice. Arrangements by Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, 821-0010.

Dorothy 'Dot' Smith died Sunday, November 21, 1999. She is survived by her son, James Smith and wife, Janice of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Kathie Kay and husband, Wayne of Oklahoma, and Kristi Smith of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Michael Smith of Albuquerque, Joshua and Christopher Key, both of Oklahoma; and sister, Lydian Lundeen of Illinois. Her husband, Emery L. Smith, preceded 'Dot' in death in 1969. Born in Madison South Dakota, Dorothy moved to Florida in about 1971, where she lived until 1990, when she moved to Albuquerque and had been since. Cremation has taken place.
