Willard C. Blomberg, 80, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Monday, March 3, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Lynn); daughter, Karen Grabeklis Lamb and husband, Julian of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Richard and wife, Rosalie of Kingman, AZ; nephews; and nieces. A son, Mark, preceded him in death. Willard was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. He had served in WWII in the 92nd Bomb Group, 326th Squadron. He was a P.O.W. in Germany for over a year. Willard was born in Moline, IL. He moved to Sterling, IL in 1970. After retiring from National Manufacturing Company, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1989, then to Denver, CO for two years before returning to Albuquerque. Willard had been an avid bridge player; enjoyed golf, reading, politics and walking daily. Graveside Services will be held Monday, March 10, 2003, at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul NE, 87112 or to a charity of your choice.

Charles (Lefty) Brinkman, renowned skiing and skating celebrity. A Memorial will be held at Sandia Peak Ski Base Lodge, Sunday, March 9, 2003, 4:00 p.m. Charles (Lefty) Brinkman, a legend in winter sports, died on December 21, 2002 of Cancer in McCall, Idaho. He and his wife, Maxine, made their home in Albuquerque for many years until the spring of 2000 when they moved to Idaho to assist with construction of an ice rink and develop a winter sports program. Lefty taught skiing at Sandia Peak and was an instructor with the Rough Riders Ski program. For many years, he was a director of the Aspen Ski School. He established the Aspen Tennis Club, and assisted with the development of Snowmass Ski Mountain. Lefty was a 1948 Olympic silver medalists in men's singles ice skating. Over the years, he won numerous medals and awards in singles, pairs and dance ice skating competitions. All his friends and associates are invited to join the Memorial.

Rita Joy Burr, 75, a 42-year resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, March 6, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Roland E. Burr of Albuquerque; daughter, Bonnie Burr of Albuquerque; son, Bill Burr of Albuquerque; daughters, Beverly Burmiester and husband, Bob of Springfield, IL and Arlene Swan and husband, Steve of West Monroe, LA; sons, Gerry Burr and wife, Cindy of Albuquerque, Randy Burr and wife, Jan of Phoenix, AZ, and Bob Burr and wife, Bernadette of Albuquerque; daughter, Julie Britton and husband, Britt of Collierville, TN; 20 grandchildren; Todd and wife, Valerie, Alicia and husband, Phillip, Selene, Lance and wife, Kelley, Seth, Shaun, Nathan, Michael, Steven, Timmy, Jesse, Amy, Matthew, Jason, Justin, Dylan, John, Casey, Nolan, and David; 11 great-grandchildren, Julia, Bryson, Blake, Alana, Amber, Devin, Bobby, Jacey, Brandon, Christian, and Kiara; brother, Edward Lizakowski and wife, Charlene of Tucson, AZ; sister, Terre St. Onge and husband, Doug of Bemiji, MN; twin sisters, Janice Coffey and Eunice Kuhn and husband, Peter of Grand Forks, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mrs. Burr was born in Grafton, ND and graduated from Minto High School. She attended St. Mary's Nursing School in Grand Forks. Mrs. Burr quit nursing school to marry Roland E. Burr on August 11, 1945 in Hayward, CA. She then accompanied Roland in his various posts in the Navy. After his retirement from the Navy in 1964, they lived in Albuquerque. She taught piano lessons for several years. Mrs. Burr completed a degree in nursing in 1970 at the University of Albuquerque and worked at Presbyterian Hospital for 17 years as a pediatrics nurse. After her retirement, she and Roland loved to travel the world. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who gave much love to her family. Mrs. Burr was a very devoted member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, March 12, 2003; 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 13, 2003, 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee NE. Interment will take place at 12:00 noon, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Burr, Gerry Burr, Bob Burr, Todd Wells, Matthew Burr, Lance Swan, Justin Burr, and Jason Burr. Michelle Cantu, 32, passed away March 5, 2003. She was a loving person who will be remembered for her quick smile and affection for others. Michelle was preceded in death by her Tata Great grandfather Jelacio Lovato, great grandmother Petra Lovato and grandpa Guadalupe Chavez. She is survived by her children Makala Cantu, Briana Blea, Isaiah Blea; little sister Angel Jaramillo; brother Ruben Lovato Jr.; sister Crystal Munoz; father, Ruben Lovato Sr., mother, Beatrice Munoz; Grandma Mom, Dolores Chavez; great-grandmother, Epifiana Maldonado; special Aunt, Patsy Jaramillo; other aunts, uncles, family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2003. Edward Henry Castillo, 63, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, passed away on March 6, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Castillo of Albuquerque; children, Catherine Harvey of Albuquerque, Cheryl Castillo and partner, Lori Hules of Rio Rancho, David Castillo and wife, Pam of Albuquerque and Carolyn Sanchez and husband, Roy of Albuquerque; brothers, Richard Castillo and wife, Rita, Raymond Castillo and wife, Judith, Fred Castillo and wife, Trish, all of Gallup, NM; sister, Virginia Nuanez and husband, Frank also of Gallup, NM; eight grandchildren, Justin, Branden, Alex, Emily, Renee, Evelyn, David and Alsace. Edward retired in 1980 from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service. Since November of 1984, Edward was employed by Kirtland Air Force Base as an Acquisition Flight Chief. Edward graduated from UNM in 1983. Memorial Service will take place on Monday, March 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Kirtland Air Force Base Chapel, with Chaplain Amy L. Hunt, officiating.

William J. Cernousek, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983 and a former resident of Minnesota, died Thursday, March 6, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn; his daughters, Sharon Cernousek of California and Annette Merriken of Albuquerque; and granddaughter, Wendy Jo Miller of Goose Creek, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by three infant daughters; and a son, who spent 19 years in the U.S. Navy. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE. A reception will follow the service.

John Hudson Chavez, 87, and a longtime resident of Gallup, died on March 6, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born in Sugarett, NM to Sefarino and Delia Hern Chavez. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. An avid golfer, he golfed five days a week and shot "his age" and under until his death. He was a baseball umpire, umpiring the Connie Mack Word Series for seven years. As the coach for Rehoboth Mission High School, he led the baseball team to the State Championship. He also played the sport and managed the semi-pro baseball team, "Gamerco ". Mr. Chavez was honored to receive the key to the city of Gallup when July 31, 1991 was declared "Hudson Chavez Day ". Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Chavez of Albuquerque; children, Bernie Chavez of Aurora, CO and Elaine Deland of San Francisco, CA; sisters, Martha Hooker and Carmen Lubke; and several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at Temple Baptist Church, 1613 Arizona Street NE with Pastor J. Curtis Goldman officiating. Inurnment will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13 in Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Temple Baptist Church or a favorite charity in memory of John H. Chavez.

Geraldine F. "Gerri" Christenson, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Brian E. Christenson and wife, Margaret of Albuquerque and Jon R. Christenson and wife, Ann of Belen; grandchildren, Erik Christenson and wife, Jessica of Minneapolis, MN, Amy Christenson, Betsy Christenson, both of Belen, James Melton and wife, Chelan of Springfield, TN and Carol Lowe and husband, David of Los Lunas; great-grandchildren, Elijah Christenson, David Melton, Christopher Melton, Maranda Melton, Troy Lowe and Zachary Lowe; sister, Vivian Madsen of Geneva, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Christenson was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Harold E. Christenson; and son, Norton Payne Christenson. She was associated with the Girls Scouts of America for over 80 years. Mrs. Christenson also was a member of the Christian Women's Club of Albuquerque. She was a longtime member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Monday, 3:00 p.m., at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle NE, with Rev. Joyce Lieberman and Rev. Chris Lieberman officiating. Elaine B. Daitz (nee Bogatin) passed away in Albuquerque on March 1, 2003 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; daughter, Shelley; son, Robert and his wife, Inge; and their daughters, Petra and Karolena; and her brother, Philip Bogatin of Philadelphia. Elaine was a graduated of Gratz Hebrew College in Philadelphia and attended West Chester State Teachers College. She was a nationally-ranked fencer in the 1940s. Elaine directed summer camps and children's programs in Pennsylvania and at Grossingers and the Concord in NY's Catskill Mountains. She will be missed by an extended family of dear friends in many places. Donations in her memory may be made to the Cardiac Nurse Education Fund, Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 26666, Albuquerque, NM 87125-6666.

Robert Noyes Enfield died March 5, 2003, in Santa Fe, NM. Bob was born April 4, 1928, in Hollywood, California, to Lucie Curnutte Enfield and Harold Enfield, who preceded him in death, as did his niece, Susan Seymour Adams. Bob spent his school years in Big Bear Lake, CA. He enlisted in the U S. Navy at 16 years of age, and served during World War II in Hawaii. After working as a land man in West Texas, Bob went into the oil and gas business for himself in 1957. Bob and his family moved to Santa Fe in 1971 from Roswell, NM, where they had lived since the mid-1950's. A long-time independent oil and natural gas producer, Bob was president of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association from 1980 through 1982. Bob loved to fly fish and hunt quail, play golf and ski, entertain in his home and host family gatherings. He had a zest for life and enormous curiosity. Bob was a voracious reader, an avid bridge player, and classical music and wine enthusiast ( "Uno Mas Ano "). Bob took his role as patriarch of his family seriously and with great generosity. His friends and family remember him as an extraordinarily genuine and modest man who freely shared his good fortune with many people in a variety of ways. We will remember him for his marvelous ability to provide a lasting and positive influence on so many. As Bob wished, he has been cremated and his ashes will be spread in the mountains by his family. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Bob is survived by his wife, Kay; his sister, Mollie Seymour, of Santa Fe; his daughter, Lisa Enfield and Paul Bardacke, of Albuquerque; his two sons, Eric and wife, Marty, and Stuart, of Santa Fe; three grandchildren, Ariel Sklar, Ethan Sklar, and Tim Enfield. Other survivors include Mona Coffield, his former wife and the mother of his children; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jake Joaquin Gonzales, 87 of Albuquerque New Mexico, left this world peacefully on March 6th to join his wife Jessie who preceded him in death in 2001. Jake served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and received a Victory Medal. He was a very active member of the American Legion, he served as the Commander and Sergeant of Arms for Post 69. During his life he worked as a Welder, Furniture Salesman, Head waiter and retired as a Long Haul Truck from Illinois, California Express (ICX) where he was also active as a Teamster. Jake is survived by his children, Thomas, James, Richard and Carolyn Sandoval, his sisters Conception and Gregorita Gonzalez, and six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Visitations will be held form 2 to 5 p.m. at the Salazars and Sons Mortuary Sunday. A Rosary will be Sunday at 5 p.m. March 9th at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 4th and Alameda, Funeral Service will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will Follow at the Santa National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Sandoval, John Valdez, Florencio Sandoval, Daniel Armijo, John Trujillo, and Michael Cisneros; Honorary Pallbearers are Shannon Coffee and Richard Baca. Franklin Ingmire, 66, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2003. Franklin was born July 13,1936 the son of Thomas D. and Minnie Slector Allen Ingmire in Clifty, Arkansas. He had worked in Real Estate, served in the US Navy, was a graduate of Tulsa University, and he was a long standing, ardent supporter of the Democratic Party. Franklin had a heart as big as the sky, that eventually broke after the death of his wife, Elizabeth in January 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant sister; two brothers, Tommy and Ed; two sisters, Genevieve Cartwright and Henrietta Van Winkle. Franklin is survived by his daughter, Inger Marie Barlow and husband, Joel of Oologah, OK, son, Thomas E. Ingmire M.D. and wife, Kimberlee Ann of Edmond, OK; step-daughter, Bertanie Duong of Rio Rancho, NM; and step-son, Nicolas Duong of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Phyllis Ingraham of Springdale, AR, Ruth Oliver of Clifty, AR, and Betty Nelson of Halton City, TX; two brothers, Virgil Ingmire of Drakes Creek, AR, and Pete Ingmire of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Joel Thomas Barlow, Chapman Lee Barlow, Clayton Thomas Ingmire, and Lauren Etta Ingmire. K. Dianne Katz was born Thursday, September 11, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA. She died Friday, March 7, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM after a valiant battle with cancer. Dianne was preceded in death by her father, Walter Katz and stepfather, Alton Garner. She is survived by her mother, Lucile Garner; uncle, Tony Tagliaferro; aunt, Jenny McNeil and numerous cousins, friends and colleagues. Dianne attended and graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in Albuquerque. She was longtime member of St. Charles Borremo Church. Dianne received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in June, 1969 and from the School of Law in May 1972. She was admitted to practice law in August 1972. Dianne was presented the UNM School of Law Dean's Award on April 27, 1972, for "unselfishly giving of her time and energies in the service of the students, the faculty, and the School of Law." Dianne served on the Board of Directors of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico. In 2000, the New Mexico Women's Bar Association presented Dianne with the "Golden Hammer Award" for her meticulous building of the Habitat for Humanity House. But for Dianne, many, many clients would have been without the exacting, dedicated representation to which she dedicated her life. Regardless of whether a person in need could never pay her, could only pay her $1, or, promised to pay her mere pennies per month, Dianne took care of all her clients in the same way-with all the love and care she had to give. The legal community is indebted to her. She was a member of Pilot Club since 1980, serving as Governor of the Southwest District of Pilot Club International in 1991. Dianne will be remembered as a unique and special person who touched the lives of her family, friends and clients. Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 9, 2003, 7:15 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Place SE, with Deacon John Russo reciting. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, March 10, 2003, 9:30 a.m., at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Fr. Robert A. Chabot, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Martin Barker, Fred Wilson, Tony Tagliaferro, William Epler, John Chiado, Jr., Don D. Angie Lane, age 80, a lifelong resident of New Mexico died February 24, 2003. Angie was born on May 12, 1922 in Dawson, New Mexico to Felix Horacek and Antonia Starkovich. Survivors include her daughter, Carol and husband, Bill Valentine; granddaughter, Velvet Valentine; brother, John Horacek, wife, Betty and their family of Grants, NM. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Lane in 1993. Francis and Angie were active in the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees. A Memorial Rosary and Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on March 11, 2003 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Francis X. Eggert, Celebrant.
