Jack H.E. Sanford passed away on March 9, 2001. He was born in Morristown, IN on July 10, 1907. He completed his high school in Indiana, and then graduated from New Mexico Western in Silver City. He taught high school and coached basketball in Reserve, NM before working for Schenley Distillers in Albuquerque for many years. During World War II, he served in the US Navy. He was active in the American Legion, Ballut Abayd Temple and the BPOE. His beloved wife, Cecilia Joy, his mother, Anna, father, William, and his two sisters, Edith and Dorothy preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Anne Anderson and her husband, Bob of Albuquerque; grandson and his wife, Dr's. Mark and Tracy Anderson and their daughters, Grace, Janie and Eva of Lakewood, CO; granddaughter, Lisa Anderson of Denver, CO; and best friend, Becky Kolb; and many, many relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shrine Children's Hospital. Internment will be at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Elisapeta Taylor, 66, a resident of Los Lunas and formerly of Honolulu and American Samoa, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2001. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Sagiao in 1995 and her father, Tufi Tagaledo. she is survived by her husband of 30 years, John C. Taylor of the family home; her sons and daughters, Amanda Sala and husband, Ielu of Honolulu, Denis Lam and husband, Larry of Phoenix, Kevin Sagiao of Owyhee, NV; Renita Stewart of Eureka, CA and Richard Taylor of Cookeville, TN; ten grandchildren; and six sisters and three brothers. Elisapeta is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will take place at the Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with Interment following on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

PAT J. ARCHULETA SR., 85, of Wagon Mound died Saturday following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 7, 1915, to Jose E. Archuleta and Feloniz Maestas Archuleta in Wagon Mound. He married Alice Lovato on Oct. 2, 1937 in Mora. He was instrumental in developing and running the Mora Ranch. Later on he worked at the TO Ranch in Raton and the Diamond A Ranch in Wagon Mound. He was a member of the National Quarter Horse Association, and the Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Alice Archuleta of Wagon Mound; daughter, Lucille Hanson and boyfriend Glen Hovland of Wagon Mound; son, Pat Archuleta Jr. and wife Kelly of Stanley; brother, Ben Archuleta of Pueblo, Colo.; sisters Adelina Aragon of Meads, Calif., Manuelita Espinoza and husband Sabino of El Paso, Texas, Dome LeFebre and husband Frank of Wagon Mound, Felinoz Vigil and husband J.J. of Springer, and Josie Rivale of Las Vegas, N.M.; grandchildren Patrick G. Archuleta of Santa Fe, Patrick Magnus Hanson and wife Brenda of Algonquin, Ill., Juanita Meyers and fiance Robert Margetz of Winfield, Ill., Mary Gibaldo and husband James of Bartlett, Ill., and Shirley O'Shea and husband Robert of Winfield, Ill.; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Rogers Mortuary in Las Vegas, N.M. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Santa Clara Church in Wagon Mound. RUTH KEIL EGENHOFER, 92, of Santa Fe died Wednesday. She was born Nov. 26, 1908, in White Plains, N.Y. She attended Morries High School and graduated from the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital of Nursing in New York City in 1933. She married Albert Egenhofer in March 1939. She was on the New Mexico State Board of Nurses' Examiners, Girl Scout leader and past president of the Santa Fe Girl Scout Council, past president of the Santa Fe County Medical Society Women's Auxiliary. She was also a member of the St. Vincent Hospital Women's Medical Auxiliary, Chapter AF, P.E.O., and the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughters Jean Ball and husband Ron of Santa Fe, Nancy Even of Santa Fe, and Kay Lamon of Alameda, Calif.; sister, Rose Keil Turk of Santa Fe; brother, William Keil of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law, Lu Keil of Santa Fe, and Kay Lamon of Alameda, Calif; grandchildren Timothy Ball and wife Mary Ann of Castlerock, Colo., Susan Ball Ortiz and husband Rick of Santa Fe, Chris Ball and wife Amy of Bloomington, Ind., Leanna Even of Paia, Hawaii, Danny Even of Salt Lake City, and Erin Lamon of Alameda, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Private burial services were held on Saturday. Memorial services will be held April 21 at the First Presbyterian Church of Santa Fe. BARBARA HAINES ELLISON, 67, of Taos died Wednesday. She was born June 27, 1933, to Stephen Wheeler Haines and Mabel Snyder Haines of Muskogee, Okla. She graduated from Central High School and then attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque and served as the recording secretary from 1967 to 1968. Upon moving to Colorado Springs, Colo., she volunteered at the Horticultural Society of Colorado Springs and served as a docent at the Fine Arts Center. The family moved to Connecticut in 1974, first living in Darien and later in Stamford. She served on the Boards of Trustees of the Lockwood-Matthews Mansion Museum in Norwalk and the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford. She was a Connecticut Master Gardener and a member of the Shippan Point Garden Club. She retired along with her husband to Taos in 1993. She became a member of the Taos Garden Club and maintained 86 varieties of penstemon. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, George Rittenhouse Ellison of Taos; brother, Stephen W. Haines of Houston; daughters Carter of Boulder, Colo., and Lynne of Philadelphia; and son, David of Cleveland. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Society of Taos, P.O. Box 622. DANNY LUCERO, 45, of Velarde died Saturday due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Lucero; sister, Frances Lucero; and grandparents Amadeo and Frances Lucero, and Perfecto and Frutosa Maes. He is survived by his father, Paul Lucero of Santa Fe; daughter, Crystal Lucero of Fairview; sisters Sue Rabener and husband Lee of La Mesilla, and Myra Bauerband and husband Scott of New York; brothers Alan Lucero of Los Angeles, and Bobby Lucero of Velarde; nephews Jeff Rabener of Espaņola, and Steve Lucero of Los Angeles; girlfriend, Romanita Salazar and her daughter Lorenza Salazar; and numerous other relatives and friends. ERNESTINA MARTINEZ, 80, of Espaņola died Monday following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Simon and Bernadita Martinez; brothers Federico, and Arsenio Martinez, and Igancio Maestas; sister, Estella Martinez; and daughter-in-law, Donna Martinez. She is survived by her children Orlando J. Martinez, Toni Nelson and companion Red of Espaņola, Leroy Martinez and wife Debbie of Las Cruces, Rita Martinez of Espaņola, and Carmen Gonzales and husband Robert of Alcalde; sister, Higinia Martinez and husband Ferdie of Alcalde; aunt, Isabel Ortiz of Alcalde; sisters-in-law Ignacia Martinez of Espaņola, Ruby Martinez Hall of Farmington, and Helen Maestas of Espaņola; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. AMADEO 'A.J.' NARANJO, 88, of Santa Fe died Friday following a lengthy illness. He was born June 23, 1912, at Pasa Monte. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and moved to Santa Fe in 1945. He owned and operated Economy Printing for over 30 years. He was a member of the St. Anne Catholic Church, and was an avid photographer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Carmen Naranjo; brother, Salome Naranjo; sister, Eva Howe; and nephew, Samuel Naranjo. He is survived by his daughter, Georgia Lopez and husband Orlando of Glorieta; son, Robert Naranjo of Roy; sister, Angelina Horan of Santa Fe; grandchildren Paticia Lopez Sena and husband Franklin, Annette Lopez Sena and husband Rudy, all of Pecos, and Angela Lopez Romero and husband Ronald of Glorieta; great-grandchildren Eric and Michael Sena, Leslie, Desiree and Jude Sena, and Joseph and Orlando Ryan Romero; niece, Ophelia Laumbah; sister-in-law, Juanita N. HIGINIO QUINTANA, 78, of Rowe died Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. He was a member of the St. Anthony's Parish and was a Mayordomo at the Holy Family Church in Rowe several times. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. For years he was an active member of the Pecos Senior Citizens Group. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tomacita Quintana; son, Dickie Quintana; brother, Merced Quintana; and father, Elias Encinias. He is survived by children Chris Quintana and wife Tessie of Santa Fe, Sixto Quintana and wife Esther of Pecos, Agnes Valencia and husband Eloy of Pecos, Leroy Quintana and wife Sandra of Santa Fe, Diana Valencia of Santa Fe, Jake Quintana of Rowe, Doris Quintana of Santa Fe, Clifford Quintana of Rowe, and Craig Anthony Valencia of Ilfeld; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; father-in-law, Aaron Archuleta of Rowe; and numerous other relatives. REBECCA 'BECKY' SENA, 58, of Santa Fe died Saturday following a 3-year battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 21, 1942, to Charles and Dolores Archuleta. She was a graduate of the Loretto Academy and of the St. Vincent's Nursing School. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital for 28 years. She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Sena; mother, Dolores Knapp and husband Fred; daughters Donna Sena and friend Jeff Cannry, Theresa Sena and husband Jose Leyba, Roberta Romero and husband Mike, and Melinda Sena; son, Domingo R. ANTHONY MARTIN SWEENEY, 45, of Santa Fe died Friday. He was born June 7, 1955,to Joe R. and Mary Armijo Sweeney in Santa Fe. He attended schools in Santa Fe, and has worked with the New Mexico National Guard for the past 23 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a good hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his uncle and godfather, Jose Armijo, aunt, Josephita 'Pepa' Sandoval, and other uncle, George Rodriguez. He is survived by his parents Joe R. and Mary Armijo Sweeney of Santa Fe; children Martin Sweeney, Michelle Sweeney, Daniel Sweeney, Melinda Sweeney, and Matthew Steward; sisters Louise Hurtado and husband Charles, Barbara Valencia and husband Mike, Pearl Dorado and husband Jesus, and Margaret Gonzales and husband Santiago; brothers Ray Sweeney and wife Rosie, James Sweeney and wife Clara, and Patrick Sweeney; nephews and nieces Tim Hurtado, Karen Tatum and husband Bill, Debbie Sweeney, Joe Ray Sweeney III, Elizabeth Sweeney, Nicholas Valencia, Marlene Sweeney, Kimberly Dorado, Oona Gonzales, and Santiago Gonzales Jr.; great-nephews and great-nieces Nathan and Phillip Hurtado, Garrett Tatum, Brandon Purcell, Nathaniel Sweeney, Joe Ray Sweeney IV, Destiny and Trinity Sweeney; and numerous other relatives and friends. LEONIRES TAFOYA, 79, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe. He was born July 23, 1921 to Amalia Gallegos-Tafoya and Brigido Tafoya. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. He received his bachelor of arts degree from New Mexico Highlands University. He was an industrial arts teacher at West Las Vegas High School. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, James Tafoya. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Tafoya of Las Vegas; sons Julian Tafoya of Albuquerque, Richard Tafoya and wife Anita of Edgewood, and Michael Tafoya and fiancee Connie of Chamita; daughters Rebecca Gonzales and husband Gene, and Deborah Martinez and husband William J., all of Las Vegas; brother, Arthur Tafoya and wife Nora of Las Vegas; sisters Ernestine and husband Tino of Santa Fe, Fadie Tafoya of Albuquerque, Gertrude Escudero of Wilmington, Calif.; grandchildren Andrew Gonzales, Angel Martinez and husband Jose, Aurelia Martinez, Lucy Gonzales, William James Martinez, Becky May Gonzales, and Joseph Matthew Martinez; and numerous other relatives and friends. ORLANDO E. VIGIL, 67, of Arroyo Hondo died Sunday. He retired from the Taos Municipal School District in 1998. He was preceded in death by his son, Merlin Vigil; parents Esequias and Patroncina Vigil; brothers Victoriano Silva, and Eliu Vigil; and sister, Florence Vigil. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lupita Vigil of Arroyo Hondo; children Matthew Vigil and wife Liza, Darrell Vigil and wife Lisa, Orlando M. Vigil Jr., and Mario Vigil, all of Arroyo Hondo; grandchildren Isaac, Tony, Darrell Jr. and Kevin Vigil; brother, Jose Benino Vigil of Denver; and sisters Antonia Vigil of Pueblo, Colo., Adela Garduno, and Gloria Arellano and husband Eli, all of Arroyo Hondo. Edward H. Alderete, 41, a resident of Albuquerque passed away quietly in his home on Saturday, March 9, 2002. Edward is survived by his four children, Monica Velasquez and husband, Eugene, Edward Alderete Jr., David Daniel, his princess, Grace Hope; and his wife of 18 years, Jeannette. Edward is also survived by his mom, Barbara Romero; his dad, David Alderete and wife, Mary; his sister, Michelle Molina and her family; his brothers, Joseph Alderete and his children, Mario Alderete and his family; two God-daughters, Estella Alderete and Elaina Rodriquez his little sunshine; many loving and supportive aunts and uncles; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Edward will be remembered for his wonderful culinary talents and his love of music. Edward proudly served his country in the Army Reserves for six years. He also dedicated many years of his life to ministry through Victory Outreach. Edward's smile and love of his Rottweiler's will be missed. Play those congas in heaven. Paul Frederick Bahr, 81, a former longtime Albuquerque resident, died Monday, March 11, 2002 in Scottsdale, AZ. He is survived by a son, Randall Bahr and wife, Rebecca; granddaughter, Naomi Pier, all of Scottsdale, AZ. His wife, Georgia Bahr, preceded him in death in 1987. Mr. Bahr lived in Albuquerque from 1953 until moving to Scottsdale four years ago. Mr. Bahr was retired from Sandia Labs in 1986 after 33 years service. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Lemuel Boyles officiating. Billy T. Carrejo
January 10, 1921 - February 14, 2002
Billy T. Carrejo, 81, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was born January 10, 1921 to Ambrosio and Piedad Trujillo Carrejo in Magdalena, NM. He was a lifelong resident of Apache Creek, NM. He was a Veteran of WWII and a rancher in the Apache Creek area. He is survived by his wife, Paulita Trujillo Carrejo of their home; sons, Andy of Apache Creek and Patricio of Socorro, NM; daughters, Vicky Haynes of Ojo Caliente, NM and Agnes Peterson of Tijeras, NM; sisters, Emma Jiron and Nellie Carmen both of Albuquerque and Josie Diaz of Safford, AZ; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends. A Rosary was recited on February 15, 2002 at the Santo Nino Catholic Church in Aragon, NM. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at Santo Nino Catholic Church. Fannie Charley, 69, a resident of Albuquerque died on March 11, 2002. She is survived by her children, Genevieve Funston and husband, James, Johnny Charley, Gloria Yazzie and husband, Robert, Daniel Charley and wife, Marlene, Benjamin Charley, Katie Kodaseet and husband, Mike and Bobby and Brian Sandoval; 15 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of Albuquerque, 2616 Cardenas NE.

Isaiah Chavez died Sunday, March 10, 2002 in Albuquerque. Isaiah is survived by his mother, Amanda Chavez; grandmother, Mary Chavez; foster parents, Phillip and Sylvia Fajardo; uncles, Juan, Dennis and Patrick Chavez; aunts, Laura and Brenda Chavez; and family friend, Christina Cardoza. Jose A. (Sharkie) Chavez, age 67, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was welcomed into the arms of the Lord our Savior, Sunday, March 10, 2002, while surround by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia; mother-in-law, Marie C de Baca; a son, Ray Chavez; daughters, Agnes Lovato, Diane Turano and husband, Vincent, Patricia Rizvi; step-daughters, Roberta Guzman and husband, Orlando, Celeste Miller and husband, Bill, Yvette Vargas and husband, Donald; 15 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters; brother, Tony J. Chavez and wife, Estella; sisters, Marie Maestas, Julie, Dolores and Jeanette; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Sharkie will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Jose retired from the Sandoval County; he was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force; he served as City Councilman for the town of Bernalillo; he also worked for Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, where he instructed the Altar Servers, taught CCD classes, he was a Eucharist Minister, the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #7633 of Bernalillo; a member of the 4th Degree Mandalor Council # 0682; he was past president of the Bernalillo Civitan Club. Jose was well known by many as Sharkie, he was a kind hearted man who always was willing to help others. Sharkie will always be remembered by his smile, and good sense of humor; he touched so many lives. Final viewing will be this morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian burial, which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David Chavez, Jered Chavez, Johnny Chavez, Michael Turano, Orlando Guzman, and Bill Miller. Honorary bearers will be Richard Stange, Tivo Lovato, Joe B. Austin, the Knights of Columbus Council #7633, Fr. Mandalari, the 4th Degree Council #0682, Arthur Trujillo, and Leroy Trujillo. Military Honors will be accorded by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter III. Visitation for Maria Isabel Comiskey will be Wednesday morning at the Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco SW from 10:15 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. by Mr. Paul Muller with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Manuel Viera. Odessa Davis, 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 51 years, died Monday, March 11, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John R. Davis; son, Terry Davis and wife, Beverly; two grandsons, Michael and Bobby Davis, all of Albuquerque; two brothers, Rex Eaves and Rip Eaves; one sister, Adele Melton; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces; and many close friends and neighbors. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
