Herbert Arthur Eby, age 94, died March 12, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was born and grew up in Rochester, NY, where he graduated from the University of Rochester. He worked as a high school English teacher, where he met and married his wife, Eleanor Buskey. During the war he worked at Bell Aircraft and afterwards at Eastman Kodak. He retired from Kodak in 1973. He and Eleanor moved to NM in 1976. He was a loving and devoted husband and father, and a kind and gentle man. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn Eby of NM; sons, Phil Eby and wife, Mary of Vancouver, BC, Canada. Ron Eby and wife, Ronna-Rae Leonard of Courtenay, BC; sister, Marion Dean of NY; grandchildren, Andrea Billingsley of BC. Damon Cianci of NM, Christopher Eby of BC, Chelsea Eby of BC, Ryan Eby of BC; great-grandchildren, Dawson Billingsley of BC and Hannah Cianci of NM. A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2002 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating

John Henry Goodner, Jr., 76, born June 19, 1925, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2002. He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry, Sr.; mother, May; stepmother, Rose; and brother, Roy. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Wanita M. (Bruce) Goodner; his sister, Mary Ellen Ham of Los Fresnos, TX; sister-in-law, Oneita Goodner of Stillwater, OK; sons, Steve of Oklahoma City, OK, Mark and his wife Melanie of Stillwater, OK, Michael and his wife Mari and Jeff and his wife Debbie, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Rebecca Sexton of The Dalles, OR, Elizabeth Goodner and Loretta Olson and her husband Joel, all of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict; the Oklahoma National Guard; and the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam era. John received a Presidential Unit Citation for Combat Action on Saipan and Tinian Islands during WWII. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kathleen Blake and the staff of the V.A. and St. Joseph Hospitals for their compassion and care during this difficult time. Services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with George Carman officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Mr. Henry Gurule died Friday, March 8, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 89. Mr. Gurule is survived by his children, Rudy Gurule and wife, Alice, Joe Gurule and wife, Jeanette, David Gurule, Herman Gurule, Charlie Gurule, Marcella Duran, Dolores Leon, Rose Gutierrez and Helen Maldonado; sister, Lele Wagner; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Rosary for Mr. Gurule will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Polly Hembree, 80, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Hodges of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Cathy Stevenson of Katie, TX; great nieces, Lisa A. Jones of Monticello, GA, and Lara M. Clark of Griffin, GA; great-great-nephews, Jerrod Thomas, Jeremy Thomas, and Colby Clark; and great-great niece, Jody Kaitlyn Clark. Ms. Hembree was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; and niece, Jody K. Helms. Polly was born in Durmright, OK to George Gresham and Mamie Burkett on April 22, 1921. Polly received a business degree from Tulsa Business College in Tulsa, OK. She relocated to Washington, D.C. in January 1942 and began a career with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, transferring to Albuquerque in November, 1942, and retiring in 1976. Graveside Services will be held Friday, March 15, 12:00 noon, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Dr. Charles Crutchfield officiating. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Elma Zane "Cookie" Kaye, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Friday, March 8, 2002. She is survived by her son, George and wife, Mary Jane of Albuquerque; grandson, Thomas L. Kaye and wife, Paula of Mobile, AL; granddaughters, Chris Northup and husband, CJ of Boise, ID and Susie Hoover and husband, Craig of Albuquerque; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kaye was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Ward Kaye; and her three brothers. Memorial Services will be held at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 10:30 a.m., with Pastors Don Wilson and Larry Moss officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Bluefield, West Virginia at a later date. Esther "Pat" Larson, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on March 9, 2002. She is survived by her children, Tom Larson of CO. and Randy Larson and wife, Roberta of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Don, James and Amanda Larson; brother, Dallas Mussman of CA; sister, Maxine Lohr of IA. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; sons, Don Larson Sr. and Monty Larson. She was a member of the Rio Rancho Senior Center and enjoyed her monthly luncheon with her friends at the Rio Rancho Country Club. Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo Del Norte).

Lola Lowman, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Sunday, March 10, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Jo Crumley and husband, Roy, and Brenda Landers and husband, Gene; grandchildren, Sheila Keller and husband, Donald, and Doug Gaylor, all of Albuquerque; sister, Connie Rhodes of Farmington, AR. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Duffie Lowman, in 1996. Mr. & Mrs. Lowman were charter members of Manzanita Sam's RV Club. She loved to garden with the help of her turtles. She loved cooking for her family. The family wishes to thank Gloria Cordova, Mrs. Lowman's "Little Angel" and Linda, Mary Lou and Peggy. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Annie Molina, 83, went home to be with the Lord on March 12, 2002. She was born on March 13, 1918 in San Isidro, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Baca. She is survived by her two sons, Remijio Baca and wife, Sandra and Tomas Apodaca and wife, Phyllis; and one daughter, Priscilla Lopez; one grandchild; and six great grandchildren. Annie will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth St. Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Garcia, Tom Castillo, Tomas Apodaca, Remijio Baca, Gerald Herrera and Richard Herrera. The family will be gathering at 9100 Ana Capa Ave. N.W. Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary 717 Stover Ave. S.W. 243-5222.

Mrs. Tomie S. Montoya, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died Monday, March 11, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 75. Mrs. Montoya is survived by her husband, Leo S. Montoya; sons, Squirrel, Danny, Abie and wife, Pat, and Larry and wife, Theresa Montoya; daughters, Sandy Sabry, Betty Wheat, and Kathy Romero and husband, Tim; sister, Cecilia Lucero; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A Rosary for Mrs. Montoya will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services for Mrs. Montoya will be held on Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Danny Montoya Jr., Freddy Rael, Rick Wheat, Louie Montoya, Gilbert Montoya, Mike Montoya and Eloy Montoya. Matthew "Matt" Moore, 15, a resident of Albuquerque, died, Saturday, March 9, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Fred and Linda Moore; sister, Meghan Moore; brothers, Michael Moore and Mitchell Moore; grandmother, Marie Moore, all of Albuquerque; numerous other family members; and friends. Matt was a student at La Cueva High School and a member of the Freshman Football Team, which was 2001 City Champions. He enjoyed playing the electric guitar, writing music lyrics, riding dirt bikes and snowboarding. Services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2002, at 12:00 p.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE, with Rev. Dewey Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Susan Moya-Baca, 56, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2002. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and a resident of Adelino, NM. Susan was a licensed cosmetologist working throughout Valencia County. She also worked for the Valencia County Juvenile Detention Center as a detention officer. Susan's pride and joy was when she and her husband, Arnold, decided to open their arms to several foster children that needed a loving home. She loved arts and crafts and was talented in many ways including the ceramic restoration of old statues. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Henita Moya in 1978; her maternal grandparents, Gregorio and Maria Eugenia Salaz; and her paternal grandparents, Perfecto and Anita Moya. She is also preceded in death by many of her loving aunts and uncles. Susan is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Joseph Arnold of the family home in Adelino, NM; her three sons, Mark Torres of Battle Mountain, NV, Daniel Torres and Ivan Torres of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Jason, Lucas, Pablo, Jared, Justin, and Steven; her father, Jack Moya and his wife, Leo of Albuquerque; her sister, Mary Ann Stracener and her husband, Pete, and her loving niece, Jacqueline, all of Drasco, AR. She was blessed by her extended family, Alex and Albert Romero, Frances Castillo, Helen Chavez, and all their families; her father and mother-in-law, Doroteo R. and Carmen Baca of Adelino, NM; six brothers-in-law, Ramon, Patrick and his wife, Annie, Angelo and his wife, Judy, Jacob, George, and his wife, Elizabeth, Charles and his wife, Mary Margaret; and one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Baca. She is also survived by her very dear friends, Mary "Nana" Montano and Carmen Montoya. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. Susan never met a stranger and she would always go out of her way to talk and visit with someone she knew, even if it meant making her and Arnold late. With the highest regards to Susan's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2002. A Funeral Mass will also take place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Josefita B. Narvaiz will be held on Thursday at St. Therese Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A Rosary for Mrs. Narvaiz will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Church. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

2001-2002. Jacob Ray Page-Chavez (Baby J) went to be with our heavenly father on March 10, 2002. He was born on April 26, 2001 to Sheresa Page-Trujillo and Gilbert Danny Chavez. He was preceded in death by his great-grandma, Barbara Gieseck; and his great-grandpas, Raymond Trujillo and Michael Lopez. He is survived by his parents, Sheresa and Danny; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Theresa Trujillo; his paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Alma Chavez; his aunts, Desiree, Melissa, Anna, Connie and her husband, George, and Pauline; his uncles, Raymond III, James, Christopher and his wife, Patty, Harry and his wife, Sherry and numerous relatives and friends. Baby J was our special little angel. During his short life, he brought much joy to all who knew him. "Your memory is our keepsake, with that, we will never part, God has you in his keeping, we have you in our hearts." Your loving family. Visitation for Baby J will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at San Antonio Catholic Church on Los Lentes Road in Los Lunas with a Rosary to begin at 6:00 p.m. recited by Deacon John O'Hare. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at San Antonio Catholic Church with burial to follow in the San Clemente Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond III, James, Desiree, and Melissa. Arrangements by Riverside Funeral Home in Belen.

William Marvin "Bill" Pederson, 47, of Topeka, KS passed away Thursday, March 7, 2002 at his Topeka residence. Mr. Pederson was born March 16, 1952 to Perry and Carol Jean (Mowrey) Pederson. Bill graduated from El Dorado High School in Albuquerque in 1972. He played on the schools baseball team. During his senior year he pitched a no hitter and was voted most valuable player. He went on to play semi-pro baseball; was an avid motorcyclist; photographer; sports enthusiast; and body builder. Upon his return to Topeka, KS in the late 1970s, he was employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 21 years. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, KS.

Kenneth D. Pergola
1961-2002
Kenneth D. Pergola, 41, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away unexpectedly on March 9, 2002. Ken was a member of the Valencia Valley Church of the Nazarene. Ken had a passion for motorcycles, and was a motorcycle brother to many. Ken also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria (Tody) of 13 years; his precious daughter, Jaclyn; and his friend and son, Stephen Medina and his wife, Jessica. He is also survived by his father, Joe Pergola and his wife, Jackie of California; his mother, Joanne Bridge and husband, Leo of Virginia; his brother, Carl and his wife, Christina of Albuquerque; his sister, Kendall and her husband, David of Virginia; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at the Valencia Valley Church of the Nazarene located at 33 El Cerro Rd. in Los Lunas. On Friday, March 15, 2002 those who wish are invited to meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Valencia Valley Church of the Nazarene for a motorcycle procession to Mount Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque where graveside services will be held at 9:00 a.m. with full military honors. Clinton E. Price, 72, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, March 11, 2002. He is survived by his daughters, Jenean Stanfield and husband, George, Glena Gebara and husband, David and Brenda Jenkins and husband, Joe, all of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and brothers, Glen Price and wife, Lena and Willard Price. Private family services will take place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Volunteer Services, 1501 San Pedro Drive SE, 87108. Arlette Ann Riecke passed away peacefully March 12, 2002, from complications following surgery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Gene Riecke; parents, David J. Burge and Lela M. Burge. Survivors include daughter, Connie Harrison; grandsons, Chandos Robertson III, and Ethan Robertson of Albuquerque; brother, Elwood Burge of Farmington. Cremation has taken place. In keeping with the decedents wishes, no memorial will be held. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th NW Albuquerque, 505-343-8008.

Amado Romero, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ofelia; and his children, Mark, James and wife, Doris Romero, Maria, Leonard, Helen and husband, Michael Johnsen, David, Patrick, Leo, Ann Margaret and husband, Mark Bieri, John and wife, Abigail Romero; his grandchildren, Thomas and David Facey, Aaron, Megan and Steven Romero, David and Jonathan Johnsen, Noah, Joshua and Adam Romero, and Katie Bieri; his sister, Vivian Sanchez; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Amado was a native of Albuquerque from the Old Town area. He was a highly-decorated WWII veteran, captured by the Japanese on Corregidor in 1941 and held captive until the end of the war. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed by those of us that he left behind. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW, with Helen Romero Johnsen reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Father Ramon Aragon, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas Facey, David Facey, Mark Bieri, Mike Johnsen, Fred Garcia and Richard Hoehne. Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Romero, Noah Romero, Joshua Romero, Adam Romero, Katie Bieri, and Jonathan Johnsen. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Ella Mae Romero, 93, a resident of Albuquerque for 53 years, was called home by the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ahr and husband, Arthur, and Rosemary Montoya and husband, Roland all of Albuquerque; sons, Herman Romero and wife, Naomi, of Raleigh NC and Jon A. Romero of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and sister, Edith Forsling and husband, Vernon, of Sunnyvale, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Romero, son, Ernest Romero and grandson, Daniel Montoya. Mrs. Romero was born March 23, 1908 in Magdalena, NM to John and Rose Sullivan. She was an active member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Legion of Mary at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Thursday, March 14, 2002, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Deacon Al McLane reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 15, 2002, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Father Domingo Gumpal, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Marty Apodaca, David Romero, Timothy Romero, Ronald Montoya, and cousins; Patrick Romero and Tom Tormey. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Thursday, March 14, 2002, 6:00 p.m. until Rosary.

Anne C. Rueckhaus, 89, an Albuquerque resident since 1938, died Sunday, March 10, 2002. She is survived by her son, Michael Rueckhaus and wife, Joan of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Paul A. of Albuquerque, Jeffrey R. of Seattle, WA and Stephen L. of Oakview, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Rueckhaus in 1995 and son, Randall Rueckhaus in 1993. Mrs. Rueckhaus was an active member of the Jewish Community in Albuquerque and was past President of the Sisterhood of B'Nai Israel. She contributed the Mel and Anne Rueckhaus Deli at the Jewish Community Center. Graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE, with Cantor Michael Dzubin officiating.
