Joseph Stanley Norder passed away in Albuquerque April 24, 2001. He was a 50 year resident of Albuquerque, owned and operated Norder Insurance Agency for 30 years, and served his country in the US Army during WWII. Joseph was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church, the Elks Fraternal Order, and was an avid airplane pilot. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Alda Norder; children John D. McCurdy, and Mary Joyce Dumolt, many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, family and friends who loved and will miss him. Graveside services will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Diana J. Parson passed away on Friday, April 20, 2001 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Diana is survived by her daughters, Joanna G. Trujillo and Sephira L. Mora; two granddaughters, BreAnna A. Sedillo and Maya B. Rivera; fiancé, Joseph Garcia; her parents, Percy and Alfides Barela; two sisters, Carol Barela and Ramona Barela; other relatives and countless number of friends who loved her dearly. You will forever be in our hearts. We all love you so very much. We will dearly miss your beautiful smile and your crazy ways. Mary A. Peck, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 24, 2001. Born in Juneau County, Wisconsin on August 7, 1910, she was the daughter of H. Frederick and Anna Gillingham Fry. Mary was a graduate of Ithaca High School, Wisconsin in 1928 and then graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee as a dental hygienist. She worked as a dental hygienist in Ashland, Wisconsin until her marriage to Earl Mason Peck in Milwaukee in 1934. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1984 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1986. They lived in Racine, Wisconsin where Mary was retired from Western Printing in 1972. In Racine she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She came to Albuquerque to live with her daughter, Judie Olsen, in 1995. In addition to her daughter, Mary is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Donna Peck of Placitas, NM, Robert and Wanda Peck of Albuquerque, NM, and Larry and Micky Peck of Racine, Wisconsin. She is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Belle Bangert of Colorado Springs, Co, Jenette Elliott of Madison, WI and many nieces and nephews. Local funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2001 at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE. The family will receive friends at church from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Graveside services will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI. Locally, French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, NM is handling arrangements. In Wisconsin, Hanson Funeral Home, 3014 Northwestern Ave., Racine, WI is in charge of the graveside services.

Nan Peck, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2001. Nan was born as Annie Laurie Whyte on December 6, 1915 in Glasgow, Scotland. One of five girls born to Charles Petrie Whyte and Isabella Mary Cumming Whyte, the family immigrated to the U.S. in 1926, settling in Detroit, MI. She graduated from high school and worked for ten years at the Awrey Bakery in Detroit. Nan moved to California at age 26 where she married Ralph E. Peck, an Air Force pilot, in 1943. He was lost in action that same year. Nan worked as the Brand Clerk for the New Mexico Livestock Board, dispensing brands for the state's cattle and sheep. She retired in 1980, after 25 years of service. Nan was preceded in death by three of her sisters; and her husband of 40 years, Albert Peck. She is survived by her sister, Bette Evans and husband, Leonard of Albuquerque; and numerous loving and attentive nieces and nephews and their families. Nan had many, many friends all whom loved her and will miss her. Nan's last days were spent at The Green Project (900 Espanola NE), an elder care facility for ladies, where she was treated with much respect and affection. To these dear people at The Green Project, we give our thanks. We have become a part of their family, which includes staff members and the dear ladies who remain at that facility. Their tears were shed with ours and we will never forget them. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be announced. Jeanette Stanton Peterson, 71, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2001. Jeanette was born in Denver, Colorado and moved to Dawson, New Mexico when she was six weeks old. She was raised primarily in and around New Mexico and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1948. Jeanette attended Stephen's College in Columbia, Missouri and received her B.S. in Education from the University of New Mexico. She became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority while attending UNM. Jeanette primarily taught first and second grade for over 35 years, 30 years with APS in Albuquerque. Her teaching career began in Los Alamos when it was still a closed city. She also taught in Charleston, South Carolina and California. During her teaching career with APS, she taught at Lew Wallace, Eubank, Hawthorne and Dennis Chavez Elementary. She was an extremely dedicated teacher and was named in Who's Who of American Teachers in 1990. Mrs. Peterson (as she was known), touched hundreds of young lives and was dearly loved by her students, as she adored them. Over the years, she heard from many of her students as they graduated from high school, college and married. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and former students. Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Jill Peterson of Albuquerque; son, Randy Peterson and wife, Christi and grandchildren, Ross and Raleigh of Iraan, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Bill Stanton of Santa Fe. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, April 26, 2001, 2:00 p.m., at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE, with Richard Peterson officiating. Hazel D. Qualls, born in Chico, Texas on May 10, 1904, passed away April 23, 2001. Hazel and her husband, O. L. 'Pete' Qualls, came to New Mexico 60 years ago, first settling in Santa Fe and later moving to Albuquerque. For many years Hazel worked as the personnel manager at J.C. Penney Company in downtown Albuquerque. Her husband, Pete, established the first 'Pete's Garage' at Monte Vista and Carlisle in the late 1940's and in 1958 moved it to its Menaul location. They moved back to Santa Fe in the early 1960's establishing another Pete's Garage there and then moved on to El Paso in 1970. In El Paso Hazel was very active in her church as well as the Rosetta Temple of the Daughter's of the Nile. Hazel returned to Albuquerque in 1985 after Pete's death. While in Albuquerque, she was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Hazel dearly loved her family and the Lord Jesus Christ. She will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. We love you tenny cents, fifteen big, and two mountains, Nanny! Hazel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Onieta and Woody Clemmons; her son and daughter-in-law, Blaine and Nancy Qualls; her sisters, Pauline Rountree and Verna McWhorter; and her grandchildren, Woody Joe Clemmons and wife, Kay, Nanette Bolden, and Richard Qualls and wife, Natalee. She is also survived by three great-granddaughters, Kimberly Peterson and husband, Brett, Amy Clemmons, and Sara Ransom; as well as one great-great-granddaughter, Breely Kay Peterson. The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to Hazel's 'family' at Care Free Living for their love and special care. Pallbearers will be Woody Joe Clemmons, Richard Qualls, Brett Peterson, and Charlie Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are Woody Clemmons and Blaine Qualls. David Roy Reddy, 39, of Carlsbad, NM passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2001 at Lovelace Medical Center, Albuquerque. He will lie in state Thursday, April 26, 2001 12:00 noon -9:00 p.m. at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 27, 2001, 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist church with Pastor Craig Cockrell officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. David Roy Reddy was born Thursday, February 22, 1962 to Dan R. Reddy and Barbara A. Holland Reddy in Carlsbad, NM where he attended school graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1980. Then he attended New Mexico State University at Las Cruces on a ROTC scholarship. He graduated with honors from NMSU in 1984 in Engineering. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Air Force and then went on to be the top Air Force Graduate at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Scholl of engineering with a master's degree in electrical engineering. In June 1985, he married Barbara Patterson in Abilene, TX. He was the Company Grade Officer of the year, AFEWC, Kelly AFB, TX. in 1991, he was promoted to Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories and received the Award for Excellence from them in 1994. He was the Lead Electrical Engineer for the Navy funded Standoff Bomb Design Study and for the Alternate Short Range Attack Missile (ASRAM) and was project leader of the Special Weaponization Study. Later he became the program manager for Nova Bus Incorporated in Roswell., NM and was awarded the contract for systems integration of Georgetown University's 40' Fuel Cell Bus Program. He helped complete Phase One of the DUETS Program and delivered the Georgetown University IFC liquid fueled fuel cell bus in 1998. He delivered Allison Transmission Division Demonstration hybrid bus and first dbb liquid-fueled PEM fuel cell bus. He completed the integration and initial testing of pilot hybrid fleet for New York City Transit Administration. At the time of his death, he was working for ISE Research Corporation in San Diego, CA. He was a registered engineer in the state and was presently starting a consulting business, David R. Reddy Consultant, in Carlsbad. He was a member of First Christian Church, Roswell, NM. He was a charismatic, loving, and compassionate person with a humor that was truly Irish in the making and drew people to his side to enjoy his intelligence and humor. He loved his family with a passion unequaled, and he will be greatly missed by all! a daughter, Rachel Murphy Reddy, preceded him in death in 1995. Survivors include, one son, Paul Steven Reddy of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters, Kate Lauren Reddy of Roswell, NM Margaret Rhea Reddy of Roswell, NM; parents, Dan and Barbara Reddy of Carlsbad, NM; one brother, William Paul Reddy of Carlsbad, NM; one sister, Robbie Jean Kizer of Carlsbad, NM; paternal grandmother, Inda Rhea Reddy of Carlsbad, NM; maternal grandmother, Edna Holland of Fort Sumner, NM; two grandchildren, Devin Umberger of Roswell, NM, Michelle Reddy of Roswell. Jessica Elizabeth Reilly, infant daughter of Michael Reilly and Carrie Vanderheide, died on Sunday, April 22, 2001. Jessica was born on March 16, 2001 in Albuquerque. Besides her parents she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David Reilly; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Vanderheide, all of Albuquerque, and several aunts and uncles. Graveside services will be held Thursday, april 26, 2001, 1:00 p.m., at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd, NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Carl Rise, a prominent lumberman and wood moulding manufacturer, died peacefully early Sunday morning, April 22, 2001, in the arms of his beloved wife, Vara. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and so much more. He gave unselfishly and shared his wisdom with so many and was always willing to teach. Education was a top priority for Carl, and he personally assisted several to advance their studies for college degrees. He received a Bachelor's degree from Iowa State and a Master's degree from Syracuse, New York in forestry, which led him to become the founder of Best Moulding Corp. in 1947. He made the company flourish and continues to employ 60 to 70 employees. Being a fair businessman, it brought him to earn the highest respect and admiration in the community. Carl was born in Rapid City, SD and settled in Albuquerque in 1945. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Carl was preceded in death by his sister, Helen McCauley from California. He is survived by his wife, Vara; sister, Betty Haulsey; brother Gerald, both from California; two sons, Joe and wife, Kathy and John and wife, Karen; three step-sons, Steve and wife, Patty, Gordon and wife, Rena Marlowe and Frank and wife, Helen DeMott; and many grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Father Brian Taylor officiating. Don "D.R." Rupert, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2001. Mr. Rupert had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, having come from Ohio. Mr. Rupert was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, in 1996. They had been married 58 years. Mr. Rupert retired from General Adjustment Bureau, where he was a claims adjuster, in 1974. He was a charter member of the 'Wal-Mart coffee club , and an avid bridge player. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV and visiting with friends and loved ones. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and a great friend. His remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at the Columbiana Fairfield Cemetery in Columbiana, Ohio, the town of his birth. He is survived by his son, Ted Rupert of California; his granddaughter, Lesha Harenberg, her husband, Mark Harenberg, and her mother, Alice Ahr, all of Albuquerque. Services will be held at 11 :00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 at Asbury United Methodist Church, which is located at 10000 Candelaria Rd. NE. John R. Sundberg, 77, died peacefully Tuesday, April 24, 2001, after a 10-year fight with primary lateral sclerosis. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Sundberg of Albuquerque and Susan Sundberg-Walker and husband, John of Tijeras; son, John A. Sundberg and wife, Jennifer and their children, all of Albuquerque; brother, Richard Sundberg and wife, Donna of Ft. Pierce, FL; several nieces and nephews; and former wife, Mary Sundberg of Albuquerque. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Harmony House. John graduated from the University Minnesota at Duluth in 1949. He taught Physics at Los Alamos High School, and was an instructor of weapon designs at Sandia National Laboratories 1952-1988. John directed and produced more than 200 training films. He served during WWII as an enlisted and commissioned Naval Aviator. Hardy H. Swayze, 90, died in Grand Junction, CO on Tuesday, April 24, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, JoAnn Roemer and husband, Ed, of Grand Junction, CO, Mada Jones and husband, Ron of Los Alamos and Jeanine Lueke of Virginia Beach, VA; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Allen and husband, Harvey of Richmond, VA and Eda Jane Cole of Mill Valley, CA; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Hardy Esberg; and sister, Neola Brown Rundell, both of Albuquerque. Hardy was born in Yazoo City, MS on August 17, 1910 to Mada Brown and Hardy H. Swayze. Mr. Swayze started his career with the New Mexico State Highway Dept. as a Civil Engineer, and retired as the Chief of Construction and Materials, Bureau of Public Roads, Washington, DC. Hardy married Esther Bortz on April 12, 1931, who is now deceased. Together, they had three daughters. He then married Ursula Cole in 1970, who is now deceased. Hardy lived in many places during his lifetime, which include Mississippi, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Liberia, W. Africa, Dacca, East Pakistan, Ethiopia, E. Africa and Arlington, VA. He helped to plan and build Trinity United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, and was a charter and lifetime member. He also belonged to the Federal Retired Engineers. His special interests were his family, gardening and fishing. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver SE, with Rev. Jim Massey officiating and assisted by Rev. John Carpenter. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Frances Kirk Thompson died suddenly in Springfield, MO on April 16, 2001. She was 76. Frances taught in the Albuquerque Public School system for 29 years and spent most of those years teaching 6th graders and language arts. She taught at Pajarito Elementary, Zuni Elementary, and McKinley Middle School. Frances retired in 1988 and moved to Missouri in 1990. She is survived by her husband, Duane Thompson of Willow Springs, MO; her son, Sam Kirk of Cabool, MO; her daughter, Deborah Tarpley of Denver, CO; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lena Swan of Kirbyville, TX. Frances graduated from the University of New Mexico with honors and was a member of Pi Lambda Theta Educational Sorority. She served as President of the Albuquerque Chapter. While in Albuquerque, she was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and Riverside Baptist Church. After moving to Missouri, Frances was active in the First Baptist Church of Willow Springs, the Willow Springs Women's Chamber of Commerce, the Garden Club, and various church groups. Services and burial were held in Willow Springs, MO on Friday, April 20, 2001. A memorial fund has been established in her name to benefit students at McKinley Middle School. Sixto J. (Louie), Torres 20, a loving son, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2001 to be reunited with his father, Sixto Torres, his grandparents, Isidro and Mary Torres and his aunt, Juana Gonzales, whom he loved and missed dearly. Sixto, known to all by the name of Louie, was born to Beatrice and Sixto Torres on June 18, 1980. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Vallejos; his brothers, Demetrio (Sonny) Barela and wife, April and Joe Ben Barela. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Tanya Torrez; his nephews, Anthony, Benjamin and Sonny Barela; his nieces, Ariel and Gabriealla Barela; his grandparents, Josie and Willie Vallejos; his uncle, Sid Torres and wife, Ruby;, his aunts, Jeannette Vallejos, Virginia Elliott and husband, Rick, Liz Trujillo and husband, Ernest, and many cousins and friends. Sixto was employed at McKesson Medical Supplies where he worked at Presbyterian Hospital in Supply Services. He graduated in 1998 from Valley High School. Louie touched many hearts, he was a loving son, the best brother and the most wonderful uncle. Visitation will be on Friday, April 27, 2001 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, rosary to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, April 28, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Ben Barela, Rick Elliott, Ernest Trujillo, Jr., Billy Maes, Jimmy Medina and Ray Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Sid Torres, Phillip Torrez, Gabriel Trujillo and Ernest Trujillo.

RAY 'DADDY RAY' QUINTANA , 91, of Sombrillo died Tuesday following a lengthy illness. He was a longtime Española businessman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abelino Quintana and Ramoncita Montoya Quintana. He is survived by his wife, Susie B. Quintana; a son, Ross Quintana of Sombrillo; daughters Lillian Martinez of Albuquerque, and Lucille Martinez and husband Gilbert of Truchas; grandson he raised, Gerald Salazar of Rio Rancho; sisters Esther Quintana of Sombrillo, Zulema Quintana and husband Biterbo of Cuarteles, Sophie Garcia of San Pedro, and Corrine Garcia and husband Ernest of San Pedro; six other grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Block-Salazar Mortuary in Española. A rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Block-Salazar Mortuary, Española.

SIDNEY REGENSBERG, 63, of La Copita Ranch in El Aguila, died Tuesday following a lengthy illness. He was born Feb. 18, 1938, to Jacob Regensberg and Josephine Lucero Regensberg in Terrero. He married Rose Abeyta in 1956 in Monte Aplando. He was a self-employed race horse trainer. He was also a former Mora County Commissioner, employee of the Mora Fish Technology Center and Morphy Lake State Park. He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Alvin Regensberg. He is survived by his wife, Rose Abeyta Regensberg of El Aguila; children Yvonne Montoya and husband Clarence of Rainsville, Debbie Martinez and husband Fares of El Aguila, Yvette Alcon and husband Levi of Cañoncito, Clifford Regensberg of El Paso, Karla Sena and husband Robert, and Audra Vigil and husband Lorenzo, all of El Aguila; grandchildren Othana, Alfonso and Agatha Montoya, Fares Jr. and fiancee Valerie, Miguel and Anita Martinez, Audey and wife Mercedes, Cody and Dakota Alcon, Brad and Sidney Sena, and Lucas Vigil; great-grandchildren Austin Montoya, Dylan Robert Alcon and Lucia Martinez; his mother, Josephine Regensberg of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers Leroy Regensberg and wife Helen of Jamestown, Johnny Regensberg and wife Edwina of Albuquerque, Stanley Regensberg and wife Rosalie of Cheyenne, Wyo., Clyde Regensberg and wife Sally of Texhoma, Oklahoma, Joe Dan Regensberg of Santa Fe, Jacob Regensberg Jr. of Guadalupita, and Frank Regensberg and wife Margaret of Montezuma; sisters-in-law Annie Regensberg of Santa Fe, Vicky Ortiz of Las Vegas, N.M., and Lita Garcia and husband Augustine of LeDoux, N.M.; brother-in-law, Vicente Abeyta and wife Nestora of Holman; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in LeDoux. JOE D. TORRES, 75, of Los Alamos died Wednesday following a lengthy illness. He was born April 21, 1926, in Cordova. He graduated from Menaul School in 1946. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service following 37 years of service working as a postman in Los Alamos. He then drove a school bus for two years prior to becoming ill. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Cordova. He is survived by his wife, Stella Torres of Los Alamos; children Paul Torres and wife Dollie of Cordova, Noella Guerrero of California, Jody Torres and wife Cindy of Montana, and Agnes Hodas and husband Jeff of Nebraska; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation will be at 3 p.m. today at the DeVargas Funeral Home in Española with a devotional service at 7 p.m. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday also at the DeVargas Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Protestant Cemetery in Cordova. DeVargas Funeral Home, Española.

Mary Johnie Askey. Funeral Services for Mary Johnie Askey, 96, of Silverton, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church of Silverton. Rev. Tony Boyd, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Silverton, TX.

Rolf Balstad, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002. He is survived by his sons, David Balstad of Seligman, AZ and Eric Balstad and wife, Esther of Longmont, CO; grandchildren, Trenton Balstad, Travis Balstad, both of Longmont, CO, Erica Balstad of Brighton, CO and Alexis Balstad of Boulder, CO; sister, Naomi Westberg and husband, Walt of Gainesville, FL; and brother, Paul Balstad and wife, Greta of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Iva Balstad. Mr. Balstad worked as a mining engineer and salesman for DuPont in numerous Western States and Mexico, retiring to Albuquerque in 1973. He loved to go sailing and investing in the stock market. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held Friday at Santa Fe National Cemetery. There will be an open house reception of Mr. Balstad's family and friends at the family home, Friday, April 26, 2002, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
