Karen R. Cahill of Lakeland, FL. died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. She was 53. Born in Lima, OH on July 9, 1948, she came to Lakeland from California 15 years ago. She was Executive Director for American Flick-Rail. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She is survived by her brothers, Dennis Reed, Albuquerque and Brian Reed, Phoenix, AZ; mother, Mrs. Helen Reed, Albuquerque; companion, Wes Cox of Lakeland, FL. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Heath Funeral Chapel, Lakeland, FL.

Collette Clara Compton, 88, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Compton; brothers, August Clemens and Joseph Arthur Von Boeselager; sisters, Mary Gabrielle Doll, Frances Elizabeth Riha and Beatrice Lawrence. She is survived by sons, John Robert and William Joseph Compton and wife Susan; granddaughters, Sheri Lorraine and Christine Marie Compton; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her and will miss her XOXO's. Collette was an active member of Aquinas Newman Center. Whether it was donuts or flowers, she was happy to serve. The fellowship at the Newman Center was an important part of her life. She established Collette's Flower Shop in the garage at the family home in 1955, and expanded to the existing shop on Goff Road. She retired in 1976 and still loved working the holidays with all the Collette's Flower Shop staff. She was a member of both the Albuquerque Florist Society and the Soroptimist Club for many years. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, UNM Campus, with Father Robert Keller, O.P. and Father Matthew Strabala, O.P., Con-Celebrant. Parking is available near the Newman Center at the ROTC building, 701 Yale NE, Lot C. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Wilse E. Edwards, 91, of Olney, TX died Thursday, April 25, 2002 in Olney. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2002 at the Lunn Funeral Home Chapel with Scotte Clark, Minister of Hamilton Street Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home. Wilse was the 3rd of eight children, born August 5, 1910 in Young, County, TX to the late William E. and Fannie Belle (Adams) Edwards. He grew up in the Shearer community near Jean, TX. He lived in New Mexico from 1950 until 1980. He returned to Olney in 1980. He and Floy Seigler were married January 7, 1982, in Olney, TX. He was a retired watchmaker. He was employed with Rio Grande Jewelers for several years in Albuquerque. He was the oldest living past Worshipful Master of the Olney Masonic Lodge No. 790 A.F. & A.M., he had been a member for 65 years. He was a member of the Hamilton Street Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael T. Marrone in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Floy of 20 years; one daughter, Marnell Marrone of Olney, TX; one granddaughter, Morgan Lea Dabney and husband, Philip of Nevada; two grandsons, John A. Marrone of California and Vance J. Marrone of Olney; and one great-grandson, Jesse L. Dabney of Nevada; one sister, Clara Mahan of Graham, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; three step-sons; three step-daughters; numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; his Masonic brothers and a host of caring friends. The family will be at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

Arthur R. Engquist, 77, lost his battle with cancer on April 22, 2002. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 1, 1924. Arthur was a veteran of World War II, a C-46 pilot in the Army Air Corps. He was a jazz musician from the time he was in high school, and met his wife Margie at the Chicago Conservatory of Music after the war. He and Margie moved to Albuquerque in 1948 to attend the University of New Mexico, and graduated from the School of Engineering in 1952. Arthur worked for Sandia Laboratory and retired after over 30 years as an electrical engineer. Arthur was lifetime member of the Chicago Federation of Musicians playing accordion, piano and organ. He was also a member of the Heights Club, celebrating over 22 years in AA. He is survived by his sister, Midgeon and brother-in-law, Ralph Burris; sister-in-law, Betty Engquist; daughter, Kristie and son-in-law, Jim Pearson; two sons, Eric Engquist and Ronald Engquist; and daughter-in-law, Cathy; five grandchildren, Denia Griego and husband, Eric, Tabitha, Nathan, Nicholas, and Rebecca Engquist; five great-grandchildren, DemMarie, Joena, Desiree, Sarah, and one the way. His remains were cremated and a private ceremony will take place within the next week. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th NW Albuquerque, 343-8008.

Glenn Ewry, 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, died Thursday, April 25, 2002. He is survived by his son, Gary Ewry and wife, Valerie of San Bernardino, CA; daughters, Rhonda Strycula and husband, Bill of Fontana, CA and Cynthia Reno and husband, Mark of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Danielle and Heidi Ewry, LeeAnn and Leslie Strycula, and Christy Kite; great-grandchildren, John Paul Kite and David Jacob Kite; brother, Don Ewry and wife, Bettie of Escondido, CA; and cousin, Bob Ewry and wife, Martha of California. Glenn was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Friday, April 26, 2002, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn-Covina Hills in Covina, CA.

John George Fehr, 74, went to rest with the Lord and the one's he loved who passed on before him on Saturday, April 20th, 2002 following a long illness. He was born February 4th, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to Alice and John Fehr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Margaret; his one daughter, Mary E. Pryce of Los Altos, CA; his four sons, John G. Fehr III of Albuquerque, NM, William C. Fehr of Rio Rancho, NM, John Thomas Fehr of Auburn, PA, Gerald R. Fehr of Bellmawr, NJ; two sisters, Alice McConnell and Dorothy Fehr; three brothers, Earl Fehr, Billy Hird and Bobby Hird; and seven grandchildren, William Fehr, Jennifer Fehr, Jessica Fehr, John T. Fehr Jr., Branden Fehr, Michael Dunn, and Jessica Lunde. John was a Catholic. He was a proud Marine and a disabled veteran of WW II. He was a loving father and husband whose greatest joy was helping others and giving of himself unselfishly. A visitation will be held Friday, April 26th, 2002 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. A Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 27th, 2002 at 9am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, 5415 Fortuna Rd NW. Dennis Graeber has gone to be with our Lord on April 23, 2002. He is survived by many, who loved and will miss him so very much; his wife, Nancy Lorraine Graeber; his mom and dad, George and Clara Graeber; brothers, David, George, Daniel and wife, Ruby, Jerry and wife, Cindy; sisters, Gloria Lynn and Nancy; sons, Mark Angelo, and Eric; grandchildren, Monique and Marcos; nieces, Angela, Christine, Jennifer, Daniela, Nicole, and Karen; Great nieces, Celina, Abigail Espiranza and Emily; nephew, Gabriel. Dennis is also survived by his dear friend, Janet Lucero. Dennis leaves behind so many who will miss him. Virginia E. Harkness, 85, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Sharon Watkins of Rockport, TX and Bill Kingston of Bowie, MD; numerous grand nieces and nephews; and two great-grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Harkness. Virginia was co-owner of the former Harkness Drug Store. She was a member of Eastern Star and a founding member of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Rev. Sandra Bess officiating. Entombment will follow the service. Kent Fowler Harmon, 46, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Harmon of the family home; daughter, Sidnee Harmon of El Paso, TX; son, Ryan Kent Harmon of Albuquerque; mother, Katisue Harmon of Ruidoso, NM; father, Leon Harmon and wife, Dorothy of Georgetown, TX; sister, Gail Patton and husband, Larry of El Paso, TX; brother, Steve Harmon and wife, Niki of Clovis, NM; and nieces and nephews, Lisa McKee and husband, Doug, Lori Seiferth and husband, Pete, Kimberly Harmon, Brittany Joffrion and husband Jacque and Andrew Harmon. Karen Gail Inglis was born on December 26, 1946 in Albuquerque. A lifelong resident of the North Valley she died peacefully at home on Monday. She attended Valley High School and was a graduate of the University of New Mexico. Professionally, her work as a fine art and antiques appraiser was fueled by an intense love of the subject. A member of the American Society of Appraisers since 1980, she served as an officer on the Board of Directors on many occasions. Karen was deeply dedicated to maintaining the level of ethical standards among appraisers and was always working to raise the level of awareness surrounding the profession. However, she was probably most well known for the constant stream of estate sales she and her team held virtually every weekend for nearly 20 years. Her devoted mailing list were among the hundreds saddened when she recently closed Appraisals Unlimited, the business she had built and loved. Karen's life was defined not by her resilience to all forms of adversity but by her ability to take the focus away from herself with a sincere interest in others. Karen was the family resource for all matter of things from trends to trivia, fashion to foods, grammar to etiquette. She loved the many different animals that shared their lives with her over the years as well as the gardens she kept, and the books she read. She possessed a strong spirit and inner strength as well as a great deal of energy. She was loved and will be missed. Karen is survived by her husband of 35 years, Mike; her son, Jesper; mother, Mary Radick; and devoted dog, Charlie. A Ceremony will be held Friday, April 26, 2002 at the St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church located at 601 Montano Rd. NW. The church is just west of 4th St. on the north side of the road. Esther Snyder Johnson was born October 7, 1902 and died April 21, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Johnson; parents; and two sisters. Survivors include her son, Billy Johnson and wife, Liz of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Teri Johnson Amonn and husband, Tommy of Chula Vista, CA, Pam Weaver of Albuquerque and Curtis Johnson and wife, Dirce of Vandergrift, PA; great-grandchildren, Scott and Brett Mettlen of Vandergrift, PA; a brother, Truman Snyder of Vacaville, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2002 at Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE with Pastor Rick Donaho of New Covenant Church officiating. Felipita (Phyllis) M.Lopez died Wednesday, April 24,2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 46. She is survived by her sons, John Sedillo and wife, Patricia, Edward Sedillo and wife, Holly; daughter, Priscilla Valdez and husband, Javier; brothers, Gerorge Santillanes, Louis Santillanes, Pete Santillanes, Paul Santillanes; sisters, Mary Ann Santillanes, Orlinda Bustios, Gloria Apodaca, Karen Villa, Sarah Santillanes, and Dolores Lucero; and six grandchildren, Javier and Jovan Valdez, John, Andrew, Edward, Tapanga Sedillo. Funeral Services for Felipita (Phyllis) M. Lopez will be held on Saturday at Sacred Heart Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at San Jose De Armijo Cemetery. Evelyn G. Martin, died Thursday, April 25, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Martin of Albuquerque; sisters, Edith Mahoney of Denver, CO and Mildred Anderson of Gering, NE; and brother, Paul Anderson of Prescott, AZ. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Father Richard McGowan, S.J. officiating. Hattie Katherine McNew, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and longtime resident of Bosque Farms, passed away Monday, April 22, 2002 in an Albuquerque hospital. Hattie was born September 12, 1911 in House, NM to Henry Norris and Luella Oldham Norris. She was one of nine children raised in LaLande and Fort Sumner, NM where she attended school and worked with her parents in the production of the DeBaca Review newspaper. Although she held various jobs throughout her life, her dream was to become a nurse, which would have suited her well, for her life was spent caring for or offering support to friends, neighbors and family. Hattie had one son, Burl J. Coates; six stepchildren; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In June of 1956, Hattie married Robert J. McNew of Bosque Farms, where she resided until shortly before her death. She lived in an original adobe in Bosque Farms on McNew Road, named after her late husband, Bob. To her family, she was lovingly known as either Nanny or Sugar. Her grandchildren will remember her for her home-baked yeast rolls, walks in the fields picking asparagus, her beautiful yard and garden, picking flower bouquets to surprise their mother with, checker games, card games, her sewing, her ceramics, her dress-up closet, their aches being massaged with old stinky, washing dishes with her after her delicious noon meals, and the visits to the farm. She was a member of Peralta Memorial Methodist Church. The family wishes to offer a special thanks to her dear friend, Janette Baughman for her loving care. Services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Dave Blackwell and Rev. Andy Husted officiating. Anthony K. (Tony Jr.) Montoya, age 40, died April 22, 2002 as a result of a hit and run accident. Anthony was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Hurtado Montoya; grandfather, Ezequiel Montoya; and grandparents, Daniel and Candida Hurtado. Survivors include fiancé, Tammy Martin; their daughter, Melissa; Greg Martin; daughters, Michelle and Jamie Dapo; father, Alfonso (Tony Sr.) Montoya; brothers, Adam, Richard and wife, Marina, Joseph and fiancé, Teresa; grandmother, Natividad (Tive) Montoya; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and countless friends. Service will be at St Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona Road SW. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 26, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery. Ramon H., passed away on April 21, 2002. He was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on May 2, 1939. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo Montoya and Leonor Padilla Montoya; and brother, Antonio Montoya. He is survived by brothers, Margarito Montoya and wife, Maria, Efren Montoya, Alex Montoya, Ricardo Montoya and wife, Julia; sister, Lilly and husband, Vidal Varela; many nephews, nieces, friends and family who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at the Church of Christ, 12300 Indian School Road, Albuquerque, on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Church of Christ Cemetery in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Patcy Mortensen, 68, died tragically in her home on April 10, 2002. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 5:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12701 Indian School NE (west of Tramway). Patcy was a devout Christian and a friend to all who knew her. All friends are welcome to attend. Interpretation for the hearing impaired will be available.

Feliciana 'Chana' Padilla, 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Padilla; son, Edward Padilla, Jr., and wife, Jan; grandsons, Keith and Kyle Padilla; granddaughter, Cassie Padilla; nieces, Martha Garza and husband, Erasmo and Angeline Green, all of Albuquerque; and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Padilla was a member of the Woman's Guild at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She enjoyed making ceramics and always had a hug for everyone. A special thanks to Sandia Hospice. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE, with Deacon Frank See reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with Father Francis Malley, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Castillo, Larry Garza, Tony Kozlowski, Jr., Keith Padilla, Kyle Padilla and Chris Armijo. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Padilla, Eustacio Padilla, Frank Lovato, Jr., Erasmo Garza, Bill Green and Joe Tafoya. Manuel Armando Trujillo born April 22, 1968 in Fairview, New Mexico, was raised in Albuquerque New Mexico and died April 13, 2002 in Houston, Texas where he had been residing for the past six years. His accomplishments, however, were not limited as he has helped people to pursue education and was considered a mentor to many. He was a trusted colleague, a tremendous friend and a very loving son. His generosity, wit, and unconditional love will remain in our hearts forever. Manuel attended St. Pius X High School and graduated with honors. He attended Brown University in Providence, RI. and graduated with bachelors degree in International Relations in 1990. He was working on his Masters of Library Science for the past few years, in spite of his diabetes, and was employed at the Warwick Hotel in Houston, TX, as a bartender, manager and supervisor. Manuel became seriously ill with pneumonia, which created other complications, eventually ending his life. He is survived by his loving mother, Magdalena Trujillo; two brothers, Joe A. Jr. and Richard Trujillo; his two sisters, Magda Trujillo and boyfriend, Dickie Cordova and Christina Trujillo. He is also survived by three nieces, Crystal Ann Trujillo, Sara Monique Padilla, Summer Cordova; and his father, Joe A. Trujillo Sr.; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank his special friend, Sean Reiley for his caring and loving support to Manuel and the family. A Memorial Service was held in Houston on Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Rothko Chapel. We would like to thank the Reverend Robert Snead for a wonderful service. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Albuquerque at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal SE, (University and Coal) on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. We would like to express and extend our gratitude to all the special friends and acquaintances for their help and support at this time of loss. GEORGIA DUNWOODY, 73, of Los Alamos, died Monday at her home. She was born on July 7, 1928, in Coffeyville, Kan. Her parents were Col. Henry and Miriam Kindrick. She taught first and second grade in Edna, Kan., for two years. She married Wade Ellis Dunwoody on July 22, 1951. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Los Alamos, where Wade worked as an engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory until retiring in 1991, and she was a substitute teacher. She served for many years on the Los Alamos County Fair Board and as a volunteer for local blood drives and with the YMCA After School Program. She was an award-winning Avon sales representative and had worked at the Los Alamos Monitor for 12 years. In her later years, she enjoyed activities at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years on July 31, 1997; her two brothers, Clay and Robert Kindrick; and by an infant granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Dunwoody. She is survived by her five children, Cathy Dunwoody of Roswell, David and Kris Dunwoody of Ulysses, Kan., Brian Dunwoody and Sarah Meyer of Los Alamos, Amy and Al Roybal of El Rancho, and Emily Dunwoody of Los Alamos; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She will be remembered as a grandmother by Erick and Michael, Marcus Cappiello and Veronica and Olivia Karnstadt. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. today at the United Church in Los Alamos with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. at the same church. Burial will follow at the Guaje Pines Cemetery next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiac Rehab Center at the Los Alamos Medical Center or the Betty Ehart Senior Center in Los Alamos.
