Patricio Baca, 92, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 24, 2003. Pat retired from the Albuquerque Police Department as a sergeant with the traffic division in 1972. He then served as Bernalillo County Under sheriff and as a New Mexico State Fair policeman for a few years. Patricio was married to Josephine Sanchez on July 29, 1933. Josephine died on January 8, 2003. They are survived by son, Deacon Rudy Baca and his wife, Juanita; daughter, Patricia Hendren and husband, Philip; the Baca grandchildren, Rudolph Patrick and wife, Mildred, Rodolfo Antonio and wife, Arlene, Carlos Ambrosio and wife, Charlene, Joaquin Francisco and wife, Mindy, Javier Antonio and wife, Beth and Maria Vahtel; the Hendren grandchildren are, Philip Paul, Chris Alan and wife, Stephanie, and Monica Rawson. Pat and Jo were blessed with 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. There are 13 nephews and nieces surviving Pat and Jo. Pat was known for his service to the Albuquerque Police Dept; as an unofficial public relations man when he watched for the safety of schoolchildren at Buena Vista Elementary (now part of TVI) and as a parking enforcement officer where he rode a three-wheeled motorcycle. Sgt. Baca also worked as supervisor of traffic division officers. Pat worked for Springer Transfer Co. as a heavy equipment operator prior to joining A.P.D. Pat and Jo served the Martineztown neighborhood by their active involvement in civic affairs as well as their participation in San Ignacio Catholic Church activities where they assisted as mayordomos in the sixties. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2003 at St. Therese Little Flower Church 300 Mildred Ave NW. Viewing and Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2003 at St. Therese Little Flower Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Jim Suntum, Celebrant. A committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Chapel. Serving as Pallbearers will be Rudolph Patrick Baca, Rodolfo Antonio Baca, Carlos Ambrosio Baca, Joaquin Francisco Baca, Javier Antonio Baca and Christopher Allen Hendren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Maria Vahtel, Monica Rawson, Philip Hendren. Arrangements under the direction of:

Antonio "Tony" Benavidez, 64, left this world peacefully on Thursday evening, April 24, 2003 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was attended by his loving wife, Doreen, family members, and Staff from the UNM Hospice Center. Mr. Benavidez, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, was born in Montoya, New Mexico on March 27, 1937. He served in the United States Army. He spent his working career as a framing and finish carpenter. He was preceded in his passing by his parents, Policiano and Abelina Benavidez; brothers, Paul and Jimmy; and his son, Patrick Scott. He is survived by his loving wife, Doreen; sons, Paul Anthony and wife, Cindy of Altus, OK and Shawn and wife, Jennifer of Placitas, NM; two brothers, Carmel "Pancho" and wife, Lorraine and Emiterio of Albuquerque; a sister, Patricia of Tacoma, WA; and his wonderful grandchildren, Jacob, Alysa, Jonathan, and Noah. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at Sunrise Funeral Options, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE followed by an evening service in the Chapel of Sunrise at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Tony will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 28, 2003 at Chapel of Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Rev. Militon Lopez of Healing Waters Ministry will be officiating at both services. Interment will follow at the family plot at the Montoya Cemetery at Montoya, NM. Pallbearers will be Tomas and Mateo Benavidez, Jose (Alvino) Lucero, Allen Boyer, Steve Marquez, and Clint Fadness. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation and gratitude to UNM Hospice staff members, Leslie Carruthers and Diane Longeway. Molly Elizabeth Espinoza, 17, a resident of Albuquerque since 1987, died suddenly, Thursday, April 24, 2003. She is survived by her father, Brent F. Espinoza of Los Alamos; her mother, Barbara Snow Ghahate and husband, Jon; sister, Jennifer Espinoza; brother, Ian Ghahate; sister, Jonnie Lee Ghahate, all of Albuquerque; paternal grandparents, Benjamin and Fidella Espinoza of Albuquerque; maternal grandfather, Dr. Lawrence Snow and wife, Susan of Cheraw, SC; maternal grandmother, Patricia and husband, Dr. Joseph Workman of Durham, NC; great-grandmother, Helen Wilsey of Pinehurst, NC; aunts and uncles, Cathy and Fred, Bennette and Jon, Carla, and Larry; cousins, Cara, Mike and Brittany; special friends, Jill Schaefer and Joyce Elliott; her special dog, Dixie; and many special friends and teachers from Manzano High School, from Los Alamos and from Colorado Springs, CO. Molly gave her whole heart to everything she did. She was a very loving person to her friends and family, and everyone she met. Molly was a brilliant and beautiful student, involved in National Honor Society, the S.R.C. Committee, MESA, Key Club and playing Varsity Tennis. She had a special spot in her heart for children and animals. Molly planned to attend Duke University in the fall. Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 28, 2003, at 5:30 p.m., to be followed by eulogies, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Dorothy M. Herro, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003. She is survived by two brothers, Nicholas Shadid of Wauwatosa, WI and Donald Shadid of Milwaukee, WI. She lived with Dr. John Shadid and wife Linda, and children, Bethany, Nicholas and Sarah of Tijeras. She is also survived by stepchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Faith Bible Church, 9600 Central SE, with Pastor David Broersma officiating. Interment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Joseph Leon Hienz "DoDo ", went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2003 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his father Wenand Phillip Heinz and his mother Phyllis R. Heinz. Joseph is survived by his girlfriend, Patricia Lucero; bothers, Jacob Heinz and wife, Toni, Manuel Myers and wife, Betty, Henry Myers and wife, Roberta; sisters, Isabel Heinz Montano and husband, Ned, Mona Morris and husband, John and Lourdes Myers; 21 nieces and nephews; 22 great nieces and nephews. Joe will be remembered for his creative artistic talent and his great sense of humor. Joe served in the Army and was a Hercules Missile Crewman where he earned a National Defense Service Metal. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited by Rosela Maldonado following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Manuel Viera on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mrs. Tillie Jirol, passed away Wednesday at the age of 83. She is survived by three daughters, Annie Lopez and husband, Tom, Dorothy Martinez and husband, Richard, Laura Jirol and Sam Romero, all of Albuquerque; two sisters-in-law, Laura Gutierrez and husband, Nick of California, and Anita Gonzales and husband, Tony, of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated on Monday 9:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Evelyn O. Johnson, 92, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, was born June 12, 1910 and passed away in the arms of her family on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. She is survived by her son, Tadd Johnson and wife, Lee of Albuquerque; daughter, Susan and husband, D.B. Holt of Flint, TX; grandchildren, John Franklin Souders, Mark Lowell Souders, Laura Ann Traback, Todd Barton, Robin Cunningham Myers and Coby Dax Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Lowell Hedrich, Casey Donn Garcia-Cunningham, Savannah and Cody Souders, Taylor Ann and Ben Traback, and Lauren Souders. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Lowell Johnson in 1980; and daughter, Ann Souders in 2002. Mrs. Johnson graduated from B.Y.U. in 1930, where she met her husband, L. Lowell Johnson. They were married in 1931. Mrs. Johnson, a devoted mother and wife, served in many responsible positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Friends may visit Saturday, April 26, 2003, in the Relief Society Room of the Haines Ward Chapel, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by services at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Haines Ward, 5709 Haines Avenue NE, with Bishopric 1st Councilor, David Thornburg conducting. George H. Kitchen, 77, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2003. George was born December 4, 1925 the son of George H.,Jr. and Laura Marie Doherty Kitchen in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He served in the US Army Intelligence, during WW II. George was company president and Research Scientist in the fuel and lubricant research and development business. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kitchen of the family home; children, Thomas G. Kitchen of Bryan, TX, and Kathleen K. Champignon of Bridgewater, NJ; one sister, Joanne Murray of Barnegat, NJ; two brothers, John K. Kitchen of Bedminster, NJ, and Edward F. Kitchen of Jeffersonton, VA; and three grandchildren, Jay R. Jones of Albuquerque, Christopher G. Champignon, and David T. Champignon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jay Jones, Christopher Champignon, Thomas Kitchen, Ed Kitchen, John Kitchen, and Ray Kashmiri. Mabel A. Kobes, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2003. Mabel was born on October 1, 1908 in Thief River Falls, MN. As matriarch of a family with diverse interests, she encouraged excellence in personal and professional endeavors. She will be greatly missed. Mabel is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Karl Kobes of Albuquerque; son, Richard Kobes and wife, Janie of Conroe, TX; daughter, Kathy Dohrer and husband, Gregg of Longview, TX; grandsons, Glenn Kobes and wife, Christine of Spring, TX and Jeffrey Kobes and wife, Beth of Austin, TX; granddaughters, Melissa Koehler and husband, Doug of Grand Prairie, TX and Emily Dohrer of Dallas, TX; great-grandsons, Ben Kobes, Callaway Kobes, and Blake Koehler; great-granddaughters, Lauren Kobes and Emily Kobes; her brother, Reubin Johnson of Kalispell, MT; and many nieces and nephews. Mabel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26th, 12:00 noon, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Rd NE, with The Rev. Patricia Holman officiating. Interment of cremains will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Betty McKnight, former Albuquerque resident, 87, died January 20, 2003 at her home in Eugene, Oregon, after a ten-year battle with cancer. Family and friends in Albuquerque will hold a Memorial Service for Mrs. Littrell on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Monta'o Rd. N.W. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to McKenzie-Willamette Hospice, 1460 "G" Street, Springfield, Oregon 97477-4197.
