ABRAHAM (SAM) DURAN, 84, of Santa Fe died Tuesday. He was a member of La Union Protectiva. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito Duran and Virginia Martinez Duran; and brothers Luis and Herman Duran. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vicenta Duran; sons Sam Duran Jr. and wife Dolores, Tony Duran and wife Connie, Manuel Duran and wife Gloria, David Duran and wife Charlotte, and Frank Duran, all of Santa Fe; daughters Amelia Chacon, Gloria Abeyta and Diana Serrano and husband Henry, all of Santa Fe; a sister, Cedelia Jaramillo of Denver; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at Cristo Rey Catholic Church and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the church. ALVIN HARTSFIELD, 80, of Santa Fe for 43 years, died Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Hartsfield; and a son, Charles. He is survived by children Charlotte Maxwell and husband Tommy of Santa Fe, Barbara Stevenson of San Antonio, Marilyn Hartsfield of Dallas, U.S. Army Sgt. Kenneth Hartsfield of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Carolyn Kilings of Fayettville, N.C., Geraldine Kay of Albuquerque, and Fred Hartsfield of Santa Fe; numerous grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Private services are pending. ALICE I. LOUCKS, 93, of Santa Fe, died in Albuquerque on Tuesday. She was born in Sulphur Park, Ariz. She married John Loucks on Sept. 30, 1930. She was previously employed as a telephone operator and a housemother for the New Mexico School for the Deaf. She also was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Loucks; and a son Edward L. Loucks. She is survived by her son, John A. Loucks, Jr. of Lancaster, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Elewene Loucks of Bosque Farms; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Berardinelli Family Chapel, officiated by Don Holladay. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Sarah Lucille Fiterman, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque for 12 years died Friday, April 26, 2002. Survivors include, daughter, Penny McConnel and husband, Richard of CA; son, Robert Nichols of Albuquerque, NM; stepdaughter, Abbie Laursen and James of Miami, NM; stepson, Charles Fiterman and wife, Wha of IL; sister, Mary Mann Humphrey of OH; brother, Robert H. Vannatta of TN; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Sarah was a member of Congregation Albert, The Congregation Albert Sisterhood and Kiwanis Club of Albuquerque. Kent Fowler Harmon, 46, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Harmon of the family home; daughter, Sidnee Harmon of El Paso, TX; son, Ryan Kent Harmon of Albuquerque; mother, Katisue Harmon of Ruidoso, NM; father, Leon Harmon and wife, Dorothy of Georgetown, TX; sister, Gail Patton and husband, Larry of El Paso, TX; brother, Steve Harmon and wife, Niki of Clovis, NM; and nieces and nephews, Lisa McKee and husband, Doug, Lori Seiferth and husband, Pete, Kimberly Harmon, Brittany Joffrion and husband Jacque and Andrew Harmon. Dorothy E. King, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Brooksene Thompson and husband, Frank; son, Leon E. King and wife, Patricia, all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Joe King and wife Jody of Lawrence, KS and Lenny 'Brooks' King of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Stacy King-Lopez and husband Steve of Colorado Springs, CO, Michelle Thompson-Loyd and husband, Tony, and Trina Collums and husband, Jerry, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Wellsley and Jason Loyd, Whitney, Chelsea, and Chad Collums, Alex, Eric, and Benny King, Dannielle and Ashley Lopez, and Victoria Monks-King; and her loving cat, 'BB'. Evelyn G. Martin, died Thursday, April 25, 2002. Mr. Clifford Ray McKim, 100, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, April 26, 2002. He is survived by his sons, James R. McKim and wife, Mary of Albuquerque and Daniel P. McKim and wife, Carol Ann of Springfield, VA; grandchildren, Stephanie A. Current and husband, Rod of San Diego, CA, Matthew R. McKim and wife, Karalisa, Marcia West and husband, Matthew, all of Albuquerque and David McKim of Springfield, VA; great-grandchildren, Danielle N. Current, Ryan K. Current and Heather Mari Current, all of San Diego, CA and Kassidy E. McKim of Albuquerque; and brother, Charles T. McKim and wife, Betty of Oakton, VA. Gregorita McKinley, 83, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on April 26, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ysidro McKinley of the family home; two daughters, Becky Cordova and husband, Dennis and Dora Sanchez and husband, Celso all of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Gregorita was preceded in death by an infant son, Ysidro McKinley III. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and was Chair Person for the Rosary Rally makers for 25 years. Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo Del Norte) Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th Street. Richard Serna, 64, went home to be with the Lord on April 25, 2002. He was born on September 19, 1937 in Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Serna; daughters, Carmen Serna and husband, Enzo Pepe and Cathryn Lorella Serna; step-daughter, Mae Torrez; mother, Mary Serna; brothers, Mateo Mora and wife, Geri and Manuel Serna and wife, Eva; sisters, Mary Ann Perez and husband, Placido, Priscilla Ramirez and husband, Julian, Cipri Chavez and husband, Gary and Jenny Martinez; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-great grandchild. Richard will be deeply missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited following at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. F. Grant Swafford III, 40, a longtime resident of Albuquerque and devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at his Tijeras home. Grant led a very active life and had many lifelong hobbies. He was an expert marksman, motorcyclist, machinist, and a licensed pilot. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, flying and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mountainside United Methodist Church. After graduating from Eldorado High School, he went on to graduate from Colorado Aerotech as an A & P mechanic. Grant worked as an electro-mechanical technician, most recently at Sandia Base at the Solar Tower Research Center. Grant's word was as good as gold. He had a sharp mind, a quick wit and could speak on many subjects. He was very loved and will always be missed. Grant is survived by his beloved wife, Monique; daughter, Megan, age 6; and son, Jacob, age 2. Other survivors include his two sisters, Karen and Sabrina Swafford of Albuquerque; the Lloyd Foster family of Sandia Park; many loved relatives in Missouri, Illinois, and Georgia; and numerous good friends. Grant was preceded in death by his mother and his father, Fred G. and Nan Swafford. Cremation has taken place and a Service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountainside United Methodist Church located at 4 Pennyland, Cedar Crest. Contributions are being accepted for Grant and Monique's children under the F. Grant Swafford Memorial Fund at any Bank of the West Branch.

Arthur C. Trujillo, loving husband and father, passed away on April 24, 2002. He is survived by Trina Trujillo, his wife of 51 years; his daughters, Kathryn D. Trujillo, Deborah E. Flores and her husband, John L. Flores; his son, Anthony A. Trujillo; brothers, Lambert C. "Bindy" Trujillo and wife, Josie of Las Cruces, NM, Phillip C. "Pito" Trujillo and wife, Frances of Valinda, CA; his sister, Estella Jean Chavez and her husband, George of Whittier, CA; his granddaughter, Bree Rauck; and great-grandchildren, Dominick and Rhyan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamberto P and Margarita C Trujillo and brother, Alfredo C. Trujillo. He was born November 23, 1925 in Las Cruces. He served his country overseas in the US Army in the Company B 97th Single Battalion and the 188th Fighter Squadron Air National Guard. He earned medals for European Middle Eastern Occupation Europe, Good Conduct and Victory. He graduated from the Los Angeles City College with a BA in Business. After living in California a number of years, he and Trina returned to Albuquerque where he lived with and near his family for the remainder of his life. He was involved in many community affairs such as the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the Association of Savings and Loans (ASLA). His kindness and gentleness will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. and a Mass on Monday, April 29, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Flores, Jim Valles, Michael Flores, George Kramme, John Hernandez and Kenny Triager. EMMA S. ABEYTA, 86, of Los Cordovas died Friday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vences and Francisquita Martinez; husband, Pablo Abeyta; son, Pablo Abeyta Jr.; daughter-in-law, Arcelia Abeyta; grandson, Joe Ben Abeyta; sisters, Fedelina Chavez and Amelia Espinoza; and brother, Manuel Martinez. She is survived by her children, Joe Ben Abeyta (Bernadine) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nelson Abeyta of Ranchos, Elsie Abeyta of Los Cordovas, Felipe Abeyta of Ranchos, Teresa Brown (Eugene) of Los Cordovas, Lorraine Martinez (Tony) of Los Cordovas, Pauline Martinez (Ted) of Los Cordovas; daughter-in-law, Bernadette Abeyta of Ranchos; grandchildren whom she raised, Emma Gallegos (Pete), Olivia Abeyta (Eric), Michelle Abeyta (Antonio), Teresa Abeyta, Francine Guerra (Greg), and Lori Ann Medina (Thomas); sisters, Rebecca Esquibel, Angie Gutierrez (Alex), Carmen Cordova (Flavio), Sara Espinoza (Juby); brother, Ted Martinez (Viola); 42 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. PAUL ALVIN BURCH, 68, of Santa Fe died Thursday. He was born in Taos on April 26, 1933. He was a resident of Santa Fe for 42 years. He was self-employed for many years in the truck and auto repair industry in Santa Fe. He was preceded in death by is son, Willis Ray Burch. He is survived by his wife, Patt A. Burch; his son, Jim C. Burch; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; his brother, Barney Burch and family; and his sister, Lorraine Mentzer and family. He will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service.

REUBEN CORDOVA, 92, of Santa Fe died Thursday. He was born in Longs Canyon, Colo., Sept. 19, 1909. He married Margaret Alice Bamber Aug. 2, 1933, in Helper, Utah. They moved to Santa Fe shortly thereafter. He worked many jobs during the Depression but is mostly remembered as a painting contractor. He painted many local residences and worked for local hotels such as the La Posada and the Bishops Lodge. During this time, he and Margaret were blessed with nine children. After retiring in 1973, they traveled and did missionary work in Mexico. They moved to Idaho in 1984, and he began work in prison ministry with his son, Bill. He lost Margaret Sept. 12, 1985. In 1986 he returned to Santa Fe to be with his children and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; son, Duane Cordova; daughter, Eileen Ortiz; grandchildren, Donald Cordova Jr. and Darrell Cordova. He is survived by his sons, Donald (Carol), Alan (Rose), William 'Bill'; daughters, Judy, Madeline (Edward), Evelyn (David), and Mercedes (Jeff). A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at the Luisa Street Senior Center followed by another memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe Funeral Options Chapel. Santa Fe Funeral Options.

GEORGE FRANK, 88, of Taos died Thursday in Roswell. He was a contractor in Taos from 1954 until 1982. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence. He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Weyerman and husband, Ralph, of Idalia, Colo., and Shirley Bowen and husband, Leroy, of Roswell; brother, Alvie Frank and Ted Frank (Shirley) both of Alamosa, Colo; and sisters, Hanna Maria Riverall (James) of San Diego, and Helen Schmidke of Emporia, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. ANTHONY GUTIERREZ, 78, of Ojo Caliente died Thursday. He was born in Ojo Caliente and lived in California for 50 years. He came back to his native New Mexico seven years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; two sons, Tony Jr. and Joseph; his parents, Rosita and Urban Gutierrez and a brother, Rosenaldo. He is survived by three sons, James, Richard, and Wayne; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Urban and wife, Maria, of Ojo Caliente; two sisters, Agnes and husband, Max, of California, and Prescilla of Ojo Caliente; one nephew who was raised as a brother, Larry Romero and wife, Moira, of California; one daughter-in-law, Patsy of California; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ojo Caliente. JOSE GILBERTO MARTINEZ, 74, of Chama died Friday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Andrea Martinez. He is survived by his brothers, Jose Margarito Martinez of Chama, and Jose Leroy Martinez and wife, Mary Louise, of Vallejo, Calif.; a sister, Adela Martinez and Max Salazar of Chama; an uncle, Martin Romero of Farmington; and many other relatives and friends. LHATT A. MCCONNELL, 88, of Santa Fe died April 11. He was born on June 14, 1913, in Okmulgee, Okla., on the Ashley Family Homestead. He married Frances Agnes Haley on Nov. 28, 1940, at St. Anthony's Church in Okmulgee. He was a 1930 graduate from Fort Smith (Ark.) High School and obtained his bachelor's degree in economics from Oklahoma A&M in 1936, after he received his commission in 1934 at Fort Leaveanworth, Kan. In September 1940 he moved from the infantry at Lowry Field, Colo., to the newly established Air Force. He served in the Materials Supply Division, in various theaters, for 29 years. Following his retirement in Columbus, Ohio, he moved to Albuquerque, where he began a second career with the public schools systems, enhancing its inventory control. South Texas was his dream location after this career, until he moved back to Santa Fe in 1999 to be closer to family. He was very active in every Catholic parish in which he lived, serving as usher, Holy Name Society member/president, choir member and on several school construction/renovation teams. He was preceded in death by his mother, Netta Ashley McConnell; father, John Robert Ashley; brother, Robert Ashley McConnell; wife of 46 years, Frances A. Haley McConnell; and daughter, Theresa Annette Marie A. McConnell. He is survived by his sons, Joseph A. McConnell and Michael A. McConnell; daughters, Anne A. McConnell, Mary Patricia A. Romero and husband, Horace; three grandsons; two granddaughters; sister, Grace Eugenia Thompson and husband, Lonnie; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. He will join his wife and his daughter at his burial at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C., where his final resting place will be noted with full military honors. CAROLINA 'CORA' MONTANO, 85, of Arroyo Seco died Friday at the Holy Cross Hospital. She was a mayordoma at one time at the Holy Trinity Church, where she was also a member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Inocencio 'Ino' Montano; son, Gilbert; brothers, Joe and Eutemio Archuleta; sister, Raquel; and parents, Eutemio and Sarita Archuleta. She is survived by her children, Adonais Montano and wife, Susie, Tillie Montano, and Johnny Montano and wife, Elaine; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Salazar, Betty Martinez and husband, Levino, and Lourdes Payne and husband, Earl. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Sisneros LaFollette Chapel. A second visitation will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Holy Trinity Church in Arroyo Seco where a rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Trinity Church in Arroyo Seco with burial to follow at the Arroyo Seco Cemetery. ANNA MAE JAMESON MONTGOMERY, 91, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday at the home of her daughter. She was born Jan. 1, 1911, near Amarillo, Texas. She had her own weekly radio program over KGNC in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College. She and Charles Montgomery moved to Las Vegas, N.M., in 1950 with the Phillips Petroleum Company. She was a valuable member of Las Vegas Arts Council, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Woman's Club, Town and Country Garden Club, Las Vegas Dance Club, Opera Guild, Cow Belles, Golf Club and NMHU Community Choir. She was a pianist at the First Baptist Church and Kiwanis Club for 50 years. Rotary Club honored her for 50 years as a pianist. She was assistant grand organist for OES and frequently was organist for the Ransford chapter of the OES. She received the Grand Cross of Colors from the Rainbow Girls. She was elected to Daughters of the Nile, OES. She played at several OES state conventions and was delegate to national conventions, and played twice for state rotary conventions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Montgomery, in 1976; father and mother, Tom and Virgie Mae Wright Jameson; brothers, Walter, Wayne, Tom, and Joe; and sister, Kathleen. She is survived by daughter, Jeanette (Jan) and Mel Root of Las Vegas, N.M.; son, Dan and Katie Montgomery of Foster City, Calif.; son, Ted Montgomery of Las Vegas, N.M.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Carroll Jameson of San Antonio, Texas, and Ray Jameson of Plainview, Texas; and 14 nieces and nephews. A funeral celebration will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rogers Mortuary. Burial services will be at the Las Vegas Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contact New Mexico Highlands University Alumni Foundation for the Anna Mae Montgomery Memorial Music Scholarship at (505) 454-3199. Rogers Mortuary.

ELISEO RODARTE, 87, of Vadito, died Thursday at the Holy Cross Hospital. He was born June 13, 1919. He was a miner and a logger for many years in Silver City. He was preceded in death by six children. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Rodarte; children, Ernest and Lupe Rodarte, Jim and Lorraine Adam, Roger Rodarte, Vernon and Vicki Sellars, Moises and LuAnn Rodarte, and Elias Rodarte; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives. Funeral service will be Sunday at the Assembly of God Church in Rio Chiquito. Call 758-2100 for the time of the service. Sisneros LaFollette Family Funeral Service.
