Vera Pauline O'dell was born October 18, 1922 in Quinlan, Oklahoma. She passed away May 2, 1999 at her grandson, Patrick Pearson's home in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by one brother, Willie; and her parents. She is survived by one son, Delbert Pearson and wife, Ronda of Albuquerque; four grandsons, Dan Pearson and wife, Brenda, Christopher Pearson, Paul Pearson, Patrick Pearson and wife, Donna; five great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and one brother, Leroy Maggard and wife, Melba from Hoisington, KS. She had moved to New Mexico to live with her son in October of 1998. Her entire family was with her in her last hours and she died peacefully in her sleep. The family would like to especially thank Sandia Hospice for their help and support during the final weeks. A special thanks to Kay Layman who helped us so much the last hours. Services will be held at Millers Funeral Home in Liberal, KS, Thursday, 11:00 a.m., on May 6, 1999. She will be laid to rest next to her mother in the Rest Lawn Cemetery.

Charles Ohlson passed away May 3, 1999. He was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and served in the Vietnam War. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Karl Ohlson in 1986. He is survived by his sister, Diana Ohlson of Farmington; sons, Eddie Gallegos and wife, Delia, and Brian Gallegos and wife, Marteena, all of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Joshua, Kevin and Michael; nieces, Debbie Sullivan and Doreen Ohlson; nephew, Graham Davis; and other family and friends who will miss him. A memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 1999 at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano. Burial will follow at 12:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Alice Gass Ryan died Monday, May 3, 1999, after a lengthy illness. Born in 1927, she was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Charles G. Ryan; sister, Nancy Lewis and husband, Claude; niece, Rebecca Almeter and husband, Richard; grandniece, Holly Freshman, all of Albuquerque; and niece, Margaret Lewis of Novato, CA. She was active in and served as an officer of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae; Chapter E. of P.E.O.; and Women of the Cathedral Group of St. Johns Episcopal Church; and was active in a needlepoint group. Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2:00 p.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 4th St. at Silver SW, with The Very Rev. David F.K. Puckett, Canon Rhonda S. McIntire, The Rev. Canon Albert W. Tarbell and The Rev. Edmund P. Ross officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of your choice. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Michelle Seamon, 36, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away May 1, 1999. She is survived by two sons, Stephen Rogers and Dominique Rogers; her parents, Theodore Seamon Sr. and Mary Chewiwi; sister, Arlene Seamon; and three brothers, Theodore Seamon Jr., Milton Seamon and Teo Baumgarden-Seamon. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 6, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at Phillips Chapel CME, 1041 Edith SE, with Rev. Dorn officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Ervan Clayton Cavasos, 91, a resident of Moriarty, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2000. He was born to James and Anna Mahala Cavasos, November 2, 1908 in Leedy, Oklahoma. They moved to New Mexico when he was 12 years old, he and his mother had become sick with T.B. He married Eunice Martin, July 5, 1928 in Estancia, NM and moved to Moriarty in 1937 with their beautiful children, Naomi, Marvin, Carl, Alvin Ray, Alda Mae and Howard. In 1945, two more beautiful daughters were added to the family, Nita and Rita. He is survived by his children; brother, Donald; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; and youngest son, Howard. Ervan and his family lived through some hard times, but his faith and loved in the Lord helped carry them through. He taught Sunday School for many years and preached on occasion. He felt that God had called him to tell others about Christ and so the Lord used his business as a mission field. He raised all his children to know the Lord and he was known to say, "That was his greatest accomplishment." Ervan was known throughout the county for his excellence in welding his honesty, and hard working attitude, he was a wonderful dad, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle; he will be missed by those who loved and knew him. Ervan will lie in state Friday, May 5, 2000, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Harris-Hanlon Chapel in Moriarty. Services will be Saturday, May 6, 2000, 1:30 p.m., at the Stanley Union Church in Stanley, NM, with James Thompson, officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty. Pallbearers will be Jay Kirlin, David Cavasos, Ernie Cavasos, Bobby Taylor, Damon Taylor, and Chris Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Cavasos, Mike Cavasos, Joe Cavasos, Woodrow Love, Saul, Gene Cavasos, Steven Yoder, Weldon Sewell, Boyd Corfield and Beryl D. Martin. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty.

Ms. Tracy Ann Fernandez, 20, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 2, 2000. Tracy was the beloved mother to one son, Benito Duran and loving daughter to her mother, Rachel Martinez and Mike Vigil, and to her father, Steve Fernandez. She is also survived by two sisters, Tiffany Vigil and Deliah Fernandez; one brother, Robert Vigil; her Godparents, Louis and Estefanita Garcia; grandparents, Mary Martinez, Sharon Donhue; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Tracy was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Friday evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m., at St. Therese Church with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father John Plan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Vigil, Dominic Martinez, Nicole Martinez, Michelle Garcia, Daniel Garcia, Matthew Wylie and Stevie Fernandez. Nancy E. Fulgham, 81, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2000. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Robert R. Fulgham of the family home in Los Lunas; her son, John B. Chubbuck of Bloomfield, NM; her two step-daughters, Naoma Fulgham Dixon and her husband, Keith of Peralta, NM, Elona Rocco and her husband, Tom of Roseville, CA; her loving grandchildren, Byron Shane, Nathan Wade, and Cresta Dawn Chubbuck, Janell K. Gallegos, Tim S. Fulgham, John R., Justus R., and Jesse E. Hawks, Shayleen M. and Ross B. Rocco; her great-grandchildren, Kaylie Anna Gallegos and Manuelito Chubbuck. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 5:30 p.m., at the Church of Christ in Bosque Farms. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.

Edith Dunn Garcia, 82, born May 17, 1918, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family, May 3, 2000. She was preceded in death in 1997 by her son, Dan Garcia; and in February, 2000 by brother, Louis Dunn. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joe "Lalo" Garcia; daughter, Theresa "Teri" Sanchez; grandchildren, Dennis, Denise, and Dee Sanchez, all of Albuquerque, Amiee Nichols, Jeff Garcia, Carrie Lynn Morgen, all of California; five great-grandchildren, Josha Sanchez of Albuquerque, Cody, Samantha, Caroline and Alexander of California; special beloved cousins, Josie Ortega, Jesse Hacquez; other family and friends who loved and will miss her. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW, at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 5, 2000, with a private internment. Family and friends are invited to the Garcia family home after the Mass. "Nana ", we will miss you, but we know you are with the Angel in Heaven. Dorothy Myra Welles Green, 91, passed away in Albuquerque on Wednesday, May 3, 2000, of natural causes. A longtime resident of western Colorado, she had lived in Albuquerque since early 1998. Mrs. Green was born December 12, 1908, in Melville, ND, where her father was a Congregational Minister. On December 31, 1936, she married Roger Green, whom she met at Northland College, Ashland, WI. Both were teachers by profession. Throughout her life, Dorothy participated fully in church and community activities. She was an active member of the Grand Junction United Church of Christ and in the 1980's took a leading role in resettling two refugee Cambodian families sponsored by the church. She volunteered at Hospice, the local library, the League of Women voters, various nursing homes, and anywhere else she saw a need. She spent several years home-teaching students too ill to attend school, and later taught defensive driving to AARP classes. In all her activities, she was known for her quick smile, enthusiasm, and interest in others. With her husband, Roger, Dorothy traveled extensively around the United States and the world. Some of their destinations were the Middle East, Europe and Latin America. In retirement, they taught for two years at the church-sponsored American Girls College in Izmir, Turkey, as well as at a tiny school in Gateway, CO. After her husband's death, Dorothy continued to pack her suitcase on short notice. Her trips included a marathon Land Rover trek from London to Yemen, at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, as well as visits to India and Indonesia. The nomadic life came naturally after living in numerous Midwestern parishes with her parents, and then marrying a man who loved to move and travel. Dorothy is survived by four children, Peggy Hanson of McLean, VA, Ginie Capan of Albuquerque, Doug Green of Walden, CO, and Dave Green of Vancouver, WA. She has seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who call her "Grandma D." A vesper memorial service is planned for Saturday, 6:00 p.m., at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, with Rev. Michelle Tatlock officiating. A memorial remembrance will be arranged later for friends in Grand Junction. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

"Andy" Endalecio Gurule, 37, beloved and devoted husband, father, son, and brother, went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2000. Mr. Gurule was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He served in the Army National Guard for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda Gurule; his children, Michael, Valerie, Monique, and Jessica Gurule; his father, Endalecio Gurule; two sisters, Connie Armijo and husband, Johnny and Diana Narvaez and husband, Leroy; one brother, Louie Gurule and wife, Veronica. He is also survived by his in-laws, Mary and Eduardo Enriquez, Ramona and David Padilla, and Steve and Robert Sanchez. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitation will be today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on the corner of 8th and Iron. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:30 p.m. also in the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Greg Clark, Luis Gurule, Andrew Narvaez, Moises Padilla, Johnny Armijo, and Steve Sanchez. Funeral services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW.

Baby Girl Bernadine Marie Chavez-Gurule, infant daughter of Rudy Gurule and Kathleen Chavez, born May 3, 2000, is now one of God's Little Angels in Heaven. She is survived by one brother, Rudy Gene Chavez; two sisters, Marissa Ercelia Chavez and Amanda Rose Chavez; maternal grandfather, Eugene Chavez; grandmother, Mary Selgado; step-grandfather, Ben Selgado; great-grandparents, John and Louise Valdez, Eugene Chavez Sr. and Georgia Chavez; great-great-grandmother, Adelna Rendon; two aunts, Marlene Espinosa and children, Erica, Angelo and Matthew, Darlene Valdez and children, Adrian Valdez and Sarah Blanco; paternal grandparents, Rudy and Alice Gurule; great-grandparents, Ismael and Sophie Baca and Henry Gurule; aunt, Valerie Gurule and Rueben, and daughter, Samantha; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mass of the Angels will be celebrated Friday morning, 10:30 a.m., at St. Anne, 1400 Arenal SW, with Father Tom Mayesfke, Celebrant. Graveside Blessings will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Nettie Florence Lowery, 93, died on May 4, 2000, in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Lowery in 1978 and by a son, Eugene Lowery in 1968. She is survived by a daughter, Hazel Stoner of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Rick and Gail of Albuquerque, and Penny, Susan and Peggy of Utah; five great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 6, at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Mr. Jose Samuel (Sam) Lucero, 72, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 2, 2000. Mr. Lucero is survived by his five children, Carlotta Ortiz and husband, Louie, Mr. and Ms. Samuel Lucero Jr., Frank E. Lucero and wife, JoAnne, Carmen Lucero and Alberta Lucero; six grandchildren, Frank E. Lucero Jr., Sam J. Lucero III, Alyssa Victoria Gallegos, Benjamin Ross Ortiz, Clara Angel Torres and Angeline Renee Ortiz; the mother of his children, Victoria Lucero; his beloved companion, Martha Lopez; brothers, Ernest Lucero, Paul Quintana and wife, Ruby, and Jerry Lopez; sisters, Dora Martinez, Irene Duran, Bertha Coca, Elsie Velasquez and Lucy Lopez. Mr. Lucero was preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin and Francesquita; his brothers, Pat Lucero and Joaquin Lopez; and his sister, Margaret Marquez. Mr. Lucero was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of U.S. Army and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He was also employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1988. All of his grandchildren were the light of his life. A visitation will be Friday evening in the St. Anne Church, 1400 Arenal SW, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Saturday morning, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., in the church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Father Thomas Mayefske, Celebrant. Private disposition will take place. Pallbearers will be Frank E. Lucero Jr., Sam Lucero III, Steve Lucero, Alfonso Sanchez, Fernando Ebell and Aldolph G. Col. (Ret.) John A. O'Brien, U.S. Army, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Betty R. O'Brien; and sister, Elizabeth Reilly of Spokane, WA. He is survived by his son, Drew O'Brien and wife, Linda of Soldotna, AK; daughter, Jill A. Bowen and husband, Jeff of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Erin, Molly, Colleen, Kevin, Megan, Patrick O'Brien, and Robbie B. Bowen; and sisters, Marie L. MacLeod of St. Louis, MO, and Frances A. Sullivan of Spokane, WA. Col. (Ret.) O'Brien graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired as a Colonel after 30 years of service. Col. (Ret.) O'Brien was a member of the Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW, with Rev. Ramon Aragon, Celebrant. Private interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. John was a fine, honest, generous, and kind-hearted soldier. We will miss our father, grandfather, and best friend. Jasmine E. Palomino, age 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, passed away May 4, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma (Toni) Price of Albuquerque; grandsons, Gregory Price and wife, Vivian Sleath of Rochester, VT, Ronaldo Price and wife, Dee Ann of Albuquerque; great-grandson, Anton Price and wife, Jennifer of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter, Erin Price of Ft. Collins, CO; and a great-great-grandson, Damian Price of Albuquerque. Her friends and family knew her as a kind and giving person who devoted her life to helping and caring for people. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a nurse in New York City and Syracuse, NY. Friends may visit the family, Saturday, May 6, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., in the Relief Society room. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 6, 2000 at the Church of Latter Day Saints, Montano Ward, 4100 Montano Rd. NW, with Elder Knudsen conducting. Stephanie Pope, 29, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2000. She is survived by her mother, Corrine Pope; fiancé, Marc Toporcer; brother, John Pope; and sister, Joan Carlson. Stephanie was preceded in death by her father, Arlie Pope. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rosary will be recited Saturday, 9:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Deacon Hugh Hackett reciting. Mass will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with Father Vidal Martinez, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Frank Baker Riordan passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marti; and by his brother, Rodney and sister, Maude. He is survived by his children, Mary Riordan, Julie Rogers, Tim Riordan, Andy Riordan, and Kitty Riordan; as well as six grandchildren. He was born in Solomon, Kansas on October 27, 1910 and moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1922. He attended St. Mary's School, Albuquerque High School, and the University of New Mexico, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a reconnaissance photographer. In 1928, he started working at Riedling Music Company, which he eventually became owner of, in 1955, and made it one of Albuquerque's most successful music stores. He served on the boards of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, and the Goodwill. He was also an active member of Kiwanis and the Executive Association of Greater Albuquerque. He was a loyal supporter of Lobo Sports, most especially Lobo basketball, which he loved to watch. He was a much loved father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank Sandia Hospice for their loving care and support near the end. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, 3301 Menaul Blvd. NE, Suite #4, Albuquerque, NM 87107. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming NE. A Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 8, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Bettie Duncan Sells, born May 6, 1916, passed away on May 3, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Sells; and a son, James C. Ilfeld. Bettie is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Burge and husband, Elwood of Farmington; a son, Arthur Ilfeld III and wife, Carla of Albuquerque; and a brother, Duncan S. Duncan of Colorado Springs. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren of New Mexico and Orange County, CA. Bettie was the daughter of James S. Duncan, a pioneer of this state and a prominent figure in Las Vegas, NM. She moved to Albuquerque in the mid 1930's and was very active in Junior League and other civic organizations. She was a resident of Orange County, California from 1957 to 1998. Bettie enjoyed her family and friends, she loved gardening, taking walks, and socializing with friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Inurnment will take place at Pacific View Memorial Park in Orange County, California. Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St., Norbert R. Baldonado Jr. F.S.I.
