LILLIAN BARNA, 86, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday.
She was born March 7, 1917 in Duluth, Minn.
She was a World War II veteran and graduated from New Mexico Highlands University.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sisters, Irene, Florence, and Francis; and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian requested no services. Rogers Mortuary.

ORLANDO B. CORDOVA, 63, of San Cristobal died Saturday in Santa Fe at St. Vincent Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Cleofas Cordova; brothers, Carlos, Tobias, Flavio, Patricio, Reynaldo and Bernie Cordova; sisters, Pablita and Anita.
He is survived by his brother, Willie Cordova and wife Clara; sister, Teodorita Cardenas; children, Carol Valerio and Ivan, Debbie Rich and husband Allen, Rudy Cordova, David Cordova and LoriAnn Cordova; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Sisneros LaFollette Funeral Home.
Visitation at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the same church with burial to follow at the San Cristobal Cemetery.

AMALIA FRESQUEZ, 94, died Saturday at an Albuquerque hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 30, 1908, in El Carmen to Narciso Fresquez and Isabelita Mocayo.
She lived in El Carmen and worked as a cook for the Mora Independent Schools.
She also served as a Mayordoma of Mt. Carmen Church in El Carmen.
She later moved to Albuquerque where she lived until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Narciso Fresquez and Isabelita Mocayo; one brother, Conrado Valdez; two sisters, Anita Trujillo and Maria Vigil; two sons, Guillermo Abeyta and Nazario Esquibel Jr.; two daughters, Susie Sandoval and Glorianne Robinson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by sons, Paul Abeyta and wife Delia from Cheyenne, Wyo., Narciso Abeyta and wife Georgia from Casper, Wyo., Felipe Esquibel from Ledoux; daughters, Grace Mora and husband Leroy from Leadville, Colo., Rose Gallegos and husband Ernie from Albuquerque, Lorraine Torres and husband Carlos from Bernalillo, Judy Sandoval and husband Tino from Leadville, Colo., a great niece, Beatrice Hurtado and husband Elias from Holman, whom she loved like a daughter; 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Rosary devotional services will be at 7 p.m. today at Rogers Mortuary.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Carmen Church in El Carmen.
Burial will follow at the El Carmen Cemetery. Rogers Mortuary.

APOLONIO PAUL GARCIA 'CHOPPER', 80, of Española and Santa Fe died Sunday.
A veteran of World War II, he was a Para Marine in the 2nd Parachute Battalion under Lt. Col. Victor Krulak who fought in the British Solomon Islands and Bougainvillea and New Caledonia.
After the war he served as a Santa Fe police officer and city councilman.
He was a teacher and coach for 43 years at St. Michael's, Santa Cruz, Pojoaque and Espanola High Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Feliz Lobato Garcia; his first wife, Nora; a brother, Conrado; and a sister, Lina Garcia-Gonzalez.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Loretto; his children, Apolonio and wife Miae, Reuel, Maria Elena 'Lena' and husband Beto Gurule, Flavio and wife Barbara, Maria Bianca and husband Anthony Lucero, Xavier and wife Judy, Maria Feliz and husband Gerald Romero, Mauro and wife Nina, Ken and wife Beatriz, Michael and Elizabeth; 19 grandchildren; brothers, Margaro and wife Lucia, Guillermo 'Willie' and wife Martha, Alfredo 'Fred' and wife Dolores; sisters, Inez and husband George Hudson, Consuelo and husband Herman Ortiz and Susan and husband Vincent Roybal; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today at Block-Salazar Mortuary.
A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada.
Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada.
Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Mr. Garcia's name to the Northern New Mexico Community College Foundation, 921 Paseo de Oñate, Española, NM 87532, (505) 747-2100.

ESTHER P. GARCIA, 60, of Santa Fe died Sunday. She is survived by her husband, Anastacio (Tacho) Garcia; son, Patrick Garcia; sister, Evelyn Agosta; brother, Pat Mares; four grandchildren; and many other relatives. Visitation 3-5 p.m. Wednesday at Berardinelli Family Chapel.
A second visitation begins at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery.

PAULA O. GARCIA, 53, of Pojoaque died Friday following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Garcia; mother, Eduvigen Madrid; and brother, Uvaldo Madrid.
She is survived by her son, Brian Garcia of Pojoaque; daughter, Katrina Garcia and companion Danny Quintana of Pojoaque; three grandchildren; father, Octaviano Madrid; sisters, Rosemary Madrid and companion Ruben Gonzales of Santa Fe, Barbara Sandoval and husband Gilbert of Española, and Clorida Valdez of Youngsville; brothers, Orlando Madrid and wife Alice of Gallina, Jake Madrid and wife Lucy of Santa Fe, Louie Madrid of Youngsville, and Eloy Madrid and wife Barbara of Denver, Colo.; and many other close relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been held.
Interment will follow at the Pojoaque Cemetery.

SALLY HYER KRISTEN, 53, of Santa Fe died Wednesday.
She was born June 18, 1949 in Evanston, Ill., to William G.T. Hyer and Nancy Pinkett Hyer.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, William Hyer; and grandmother, Winifred Whitford Hollister.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Zdenek Kristen of Santa Fe; her mother, Nancy Hyer; brother, Richard and wife Kathryn Burrer Hyer; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial will be held in early June in Santa Fe with interment at Fairview Cemetery.

JUSTINIANO LEYBA JR., 91, of Pecos died Thursday following a brief illness.
He was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Albuquerque to Justiniano Leyba and Sara O'Bannon Leyba.
He was baptized June 2, 1912, by our first governor, Octaviano O'Larrazolo and his wife Maria.
He was a public school teacher for 42 years, teaching at Leyba, Gonzales, Las Colonias, Rowe and Pecos.
He was a rancher in Leyba right up until the time he died.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Rosalia 'Rose' Leyba in 2000.
He is survived by son, Lawrence Leyba and wife Dolores of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters, Lorraine Varela and husband Phillip, of Albuquerque, and Betty Jean Vieira and husband Orlando of Santa Fe; sister, Andrea Bounanni of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends, including his faithful dog 'Buddy.'
Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at the Pecos Cemetery.

JOSE R. LUJAN SR., 73, died Saturday.
He was lifetime resident of Santa Fe and Pecos.
He was a great businessman, mechanic and owned his own gas station for 18 years.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Adrian Martinez, Jr.; great-grandson, Robbie Gonzales, Jr., Roman, Flora, Albert, Herminio Lujan, Reymondo Sandoval and Benigna Sandoval. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margarita Lujan; children, Joe Lujan, Jr. (Ranger) and wife Debbie, Lily Martinez and husband Adrian, Gene Lujan and wife Mabel, Sofhia Madrid and husband Peter, Ray Lujan, Linda Lujan and fiance Leon Narvaiz; brothers, Alfredo, Roman, Estevan and wife Dolores, Manuel and wife Rosemary, Phillip and wife Helen; sister-in-law, Eluteria Lujan; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins 5 p.m. today and with a 7 p.m. rosary at Cristo Rey Catholic Church.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cristo Rey Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

ARTURO E. ORTEGA, 75, of El Guique died Friday following a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Antonia and Rita Vigil, Pilar Quintana and Frances Ortega; brothers, Jacobo and Manuel Ortega; and parents, Antonio and Cornelia Ortega. He is survived by his wife, Maria Ortega of El Guique; children, Vaudelio Ortega and wife Sally of Mesa, Ariz., Robert Ortega and wife Charlotte of Fairview, and Patricia Borrego of El Guique; seven grandchildren; sister, Ida Moreno and family of Pecos; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with interment to follow at the El Guique Catholic Cemetery.

ALEX JOSEPH PACHECO, 44, of Taos died Friday.
He is survived by his children, Ski Santo Pacheco and Shane Soozveyma Pacheco; mother, Virginia P. Abeyta of Taos; father, George Pacheco of Salt Lake City; and the love of his life, Lily Kim; brothers and sisters, Teresa Rael, David Pacheco (Jan), Michael Pacheco (Chrisita), Jerry Pacheco (Andrea), Judy Duran (Amos), Barbara, Patricia, Karla and Alexandria Gutierrez and Tom Pacheco.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

ROY A. ROMERO, 56, of Española and originally of Lyden died Friday following a lengthy illness. He worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
He was a member of the Penitentes of Lyden and was in the Search Group and The Cursillistas.
He was preceded in death by his godparents, Roman and Maria Martinez; (Un Angelito); father-in-law, Joe I. Salazar Sr.; grandmothers: Bersabe Romero and Cresencia Sanchez; and grandfathers: Melaquias Sanchez and Tobias Romero.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Teresa Romero of Española; daughter, Maria Bersabe Romero and husband Scott Smith of Española; a grandchild on the way; parents, Juan Sigfredo and Edulia Romero of Lyden; brothers and sisters, Ignacita Trujillo and husband Valentin of Lyden, Tobias Romero and wife Maria of Velarde, James and Gary Romero both of Lyden, Marvin Romero and wife Loyola of Los Luceros, Cheryl Sanchez and husband Tony of Los Luceros, Darlene Romero of Española, Jane Eileen Martinez and husband Carey of Velarde, Lloyd Romero of Los Luceros and Rose Romero of Lyden; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde.
Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde with interment to follow at the Velarde Catholic Cemetery.

ERICA ELIZABETH ROSE SUAZO, 4, of Taos died Saturday.
She overcame her battle with leukemia and died of unrelated complications.
Despite her illness, she was always positive and had such a wonderful smile that made people love her.
Erica was a source of strength and inspiration for her family.
She attended school at Los Angelitos & La Puerta Elementary.
She is survived by her mother, Rosemarie T. Suazo; brothers, Miguel and Randy Suazo; grandparents, Nazario & Emma Suazo; padrino, Fabian Vargas; madrinas, Josie Vargas and April Trujillo; and many other relatives and friends.
Services 11 a.m. May 13 at Taos Assembly of God Church, Burch Street.

TERESINA B. TAFOYA, 92, of Alcalde died Sunday following a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lou Tafoya; and a brother, Tom Bustos.
She is survived by her sons, Leroy Tafoya of Alcalde, Robert Tafoya and wife Cathy of Alcalde, and Mauilis Tafoya and wife Belinda of Española; daughters, Ida Quintana and husband Louis of California, and Maria Tafoya of Chimay¢; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Danny Bustos and wife Frances of Utah; sister, Ignacia Martinez of Española; and many other relatives and friends.
Public visitation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Anne's Catholic Church in Alcalde with interment to follow at the La Villita Catholic Cemetery in La Villita.

ROSEMARY RIFE TALLEY, 70, of Santa Fe died Sunday after a brave struggle with kidney disease for the past nine years.
She was born Aug. 2, 1932, to Rosemary and Dwight Rife.
She attended Mills College in San Francisco and completed her degree in anthropology at the University of Oklahoma many years after raising her family.
With the exception of brief periods in San Francisco and Raton, she spent her life in Santa Fe.
She worked at the Laboratory of Anthropology, Museum of New Mexico, which had been directed by her stepfather, Jesse L. Nusbaum, until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Emily and family of Santa Fe; son, Peter and family of Durango, Colo.; and son, Christopher and wife Mary Anna and family of Española.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Faith Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation to your favorite charity be made in Rosemary's memory.
The family appreciates and thanks the staff of St. Vincent's Hospital and the Santa Fe Dialysis Center for the kind care they have provided.

APOLONIO TENORIO, 87, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Thursday.
He was born June 19, 1915, in Las Vegas, N.M., to the late Juan Tenorio and Gabrielita Alcorta Tenorio.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Tenorio and Gabrielita Alcorta Tenorio; wife, Jesusita Tenorio; son, Valentin Tenorio.
He is survived by his son, Florencio Tenorio and wife Janice of San Jose, Calif.; daughters, Rita Mennis and husband John of Milpitas, Calif.; Maria Tenorio and husband Shaun McEllin of Las Vegas, N.M.; sons, Paul Tenorio and Robert Tenorio both of Las Vegas, N.M.; daughter, Maria Elena Tenorio of Las Vegas, N.M.; sister, Genevieve Larson and husband Manuel of Las Vegas, N.M.; and many other relatives.
Funeral services have been held. Interment was at St. Anthony's Cemetery.

LOUISA 'LILLIE' TAFOYA TORRES, 93, of Black Lake died Saturday.
She was born Feb. 19, 1910, in Black Lake to the late Mariano Tafoya & Marianita Trujillo Tafoya.
She married Felimon Torres also of Black Lake on Oct. 22, 1974; he preceded her in death in January 1990.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, J. Rumaldo, Mardoqueo, Jose A., and Juan Tafoya; sisters, Tonita Trujillo, Eloisa and Dora Segura.
She is survived by her sister, Esther Trujillo and Joe F. Tafoya, whom was raised like her brother; stepsons, Ben Torres (Isabel) who really helped her, Antonio Torres (Helen), Tommie (Diane), Adelecio (Gretchen), Robert, Manuel, Luis, and Candelario Torres (Consuelo) of Black Lake; and many other relatives.
Services have been held. Interment was at Black Lake Church Cemetery.
