Mrs. Edna R. Abeyta, 62, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on June 19, 1999. Mrs. Abeyta is survived by her beloved husband of forty one years, Fidel Abeyta; three daughters, Doris War and husband, Ray, Joann Carr and husband, Brian and Valerie Abeyta and boyfriend, Art Villescas; three sons, Isaac Abeyta and wife, Bernadine Archuleta-Abeyta, Randy Abeyta and wife, Sandra and Bryan Abeyta and girlfriend, Krissy Chapman; her brothers and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gallegos, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Gallegos, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gallegos, Mary Montano, Hazel Barreras and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Ferris; fourteen grandchildren, Loretta Gallegos, Sabrina Henderson, Lori Abeyta, David Torrez, Victoria Abeyta, Randy Abeyta Jr., Bryan Abeyta, Sergio Abeyta, Lorenzo Abeyta, Crystal Garcia, Stephanie Carr, Gabrielle War, Rhiannon Carr and Isaiah Abeyta; two great-granchildren, Natasha Ayala and Janessa Henderson. Mrs. Abeyta was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday evening in the Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd., SW from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mr. Kenneth Hill. Final Visitation will be in the Church Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Anthony Bolman. Interment will follow in the Abeytas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fidel G. Abeyta, Isaac Abeyta, Randy Abeyta, Bryan Abeyta, Brian Carr, and Raymond Gallegos. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Torrez, Randy Abeyta Jr., Sergio Abeyta, Bryan Abeyta Jr., Lorenzo Abeyta and Loretta Gallegos. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr., SW in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Mae Brown, age 46, was born December 5, 1952 and died June 19, 1999, a life long resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Ray Brown; daughter, Sabrina Brown; three grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Clarissa Brown, Johnathon Brown; parents, Esther and Darrell LaMunyon; brother, James LaMunyon of Washington; two sisters, Jerrie Prentiss of Carlsbad and Linda Oldfield of Albuquerque. Visitation for Mrs. Brown will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Chapel at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. S.E., with Pastor Gerald Wood of Rio Grande Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with Tom Oldfield, Jamie Oldfield, Kenneth Oldfield, Kevin Oldfield, John Prentiss, and James Prentiss serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearer is Scott Ranson. Memorials may be made in memory of Shirley Brown to HOSPICE at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital.

Donnie Gene Carman, 61, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 18, 1999 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Shirley R. Carman of Albuquerque; daughters, Donna R. Carman, Blanca Carman, Cindy Kraus, Julia Enriquez, Michele Paynter and Maria Scarpelli; sons, Donald Carman, Darell Carman and Andrew Oesman; beloved grandchildren; one great-grandson; many brothers, sisters, family members and friends. His family and friends will remember him for his kind, loving and giving heart. Mr. Carman served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was very active in the Teamsters Local #492 as President, Business Agent, Steward and member. Services will be held Monday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Earl William, Jr. "Irish" or "Cris", 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Friday, June 18, 1999. Mr. Crist was born on April 10, 1925, in Amarillo, Texas. Irish graduated from Amarillo High School and the University of New Mexico with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps. He was President of Crist Machinery and Supply, Inc.; Plateau Supply Inc.; member of the Associated Contractors of New Mexico; past President of Albuquerque Equipment Distributors, and was a member of the Albuquerque Country Club. Irish served on the Presbyterian Hospital board for 28 years (1967-1995). Mr. Crist is preceded in death by his parents, Earl William, Sr. and Edna Crist, and a son, William Harvey Crist. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Cornelius Crist and daughter Lou Ann Oney and husband, Michael Oney of Hobbs. He has four grandchildren, Justin, Cristin, Meredith, and Michael Jordan Oney; an aunt, Olive Swafford. Irish enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and quail hunting. A Memorial Service in thanksgiving for the life of Earl William Crist, Jr. will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, with Reverend Myron White officiating. Richard Garcia, 47, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, June 17, 1999. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Garcia. He is survived by his loving parents, Percy and Sofia Garcia; two brothers, Percy Garcia and Raymond Garcia; five sisters, Linda Ramirez and husband, Martin, Angela Sanders and husband, David, Nancy, Margaret and Debbie Garcia; three grandchildren, Felicia Maldonado, Senaida Maldonado and Fidel Maldonado Jr. Also surviving are paternal grandmother, Mary Blasita Garcia; and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Herbert Edward Holliday, Jr., 73, loving father and husband, passed away Saturday, June 19, 1999 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Darlene Holliday of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Perry and husband, Dave of Albuquerque; sons, Bob Holliday and wife, Joyce of Plano, TX, Steve Holliday and wife, Peggy of Albuquerque; son-in-law, Doug Loyd of Charlottesville, VA; father, H.E. Holliday, Sr. of Berryton, KS; sister, Barbara Simmer of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, John Perry and Lisa P. Todd, Lara Hamilton, Julie and Sara Loyd, Robbie, Ryan, and Rachael Holliday, and Michael and Isaac Holliday. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dr. Brenda H. Loyd in 1995 and mother, Irene Holliday in 1997. Herb and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1961 from Berryton, KS. He owned Hiland Lanes bowling alley until entering the real estate business in 1964. In 1987, Herb retired from Walter-Hinkle Realtors with over 22 years of service. Herb greatly enjoyed his career and continued to own and manage real estate properties in his retirement. He was a past Master and 50 year member of Albert Neese Lodge #248, AF&AM in Tecumseh, KS and was a member of Clarice Chapter #390, OES, of Wakarusa, KS. Services will be held Wednesday, June 23, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, 2528 Utah NE., with Rev. Alan Abraham officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens, with Temple Lodge #6, AF&AM presiding. Lowen W. Johnston, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1945, died Friday, June 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Corina Johnston of Albuquerque and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Johnston retired as a Msgt., USAF after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Johnston was a member of American Legion, Post 49. Cremation has taken place and scattering of cremains will be held Monday, June 21, 10:30 a.m., at the Rose Garden at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Charles H. Miller, 80, a resident of Las Lunas, NM, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 1999. He was a member of the Mennonite Church. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Clayton, Christian and Abram; his sister, Katherine; one son, Robert; and granddaughter, Jeanette. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Miller of Los Lunas; sons, J. Glenn Miller and his wife, Anna Lois of Los Lunas; Paul E. Miller and his wife, Jean of Spring Grove, PA, James S. Miller and his wife, Rhoda of Tilley, Alberta, Canada, Donald K. Miller and his wife, Mary of Coaldale, Alberta, Canada; daughters, Betty Schrock and her husband, Lee of Mt. Perry, Ohio, Marian Torkelson and her husband, Nelson of Carpenter, WY, Dorothy Torkelson and her husband, Herbert of Duchess, Alberta, Canada, Rohda Witmer and her husband, Dallas of Chimaltenango, Guatemala, and Ruth Bair and her husband, Daryl of Quarryville, PA. Charles is also survived by 65 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 22, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Belen Mennonite Church. Alice M. Morales, 85, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister walked into the arms of Jesus early Saturday morning, June 19, 1999. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Tomas Morales; one son, Arthur R. Morales and wife, Rebecca of Albuquerque; one daughter, Kathy (Dolly) Martinez of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters Mabel Soto, Priscilla Sanchez, both of Albuquerque and Esther Goings of California. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. also in the chapel. David Pino, 57, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, June 17, 1999. Mr. Pino was a parishioner of St. Edwin's Catholic Church; he retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools after 25 years of employment; David enjoyed fishing, camping and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father, Samual Pino. He is survived by his loving wife, Celina Pino of the family home; one daughter, Brenda Nieto and fiance, Danny Lial; one son, Michael Pino and wife, Melissa; his precious grandchildren, Luciano Martinez, Ashley Nieto, Floyd Pino, Adrian Pino, and Mischa Pino. Also surviving is his mother, Gabrielita Pino; one brother, Nicholas Pino and wife, Juanita; and one sister, Cruzita Clark and husband, Bob. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwins Catholic Church. Alma Rock Stagg, 96, a resident of Albuquerque for 61 years, died Thursday, June 17, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Harry P. Stagg of Albuquerque; daughters Carolyn Tope and husband, Dwight, and Marcia Cantrell, all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Rock Tope and wife, Debbie of Albuquerque, Chris Tope and wife, Dee of Colorado Springs, CO, James Cantrell, Steve Cantrell and wife, Beth, Tom Cantrell and wife, Geri, and Jack Cantrell, all of Albuquerque; granddaughter Carol Ramel and husband, Greg of Alamogordo; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Dixie Julihn and husband, Larry of San Diego. Mrs. Stagg taught math in high school for more than 20 years, and was a member of the New Mexico Educators Association; NEA; and the New Mexico Association of Education Retirees. She has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1938 and was very active teaching Sunday School and playing piano for Sunday services. She was an honorary lifetime member of the Porcelain Arts Club of Albuquerque. Services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Joseph B. Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be James Cantrell, Steve Cantrell, Tom Cantrell, Jack Cantrell, Rock Tope, Chris Tope and Aaron Coffey. Margaret Swingle, age 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, went home to be with the Lord on June 18, 1999. Mrs. Swingle is survived by her husband, Stanley of Albuquerque; her daughter, Mary Lou Erwin and husband, Robert of Fort Worth, TX; sons, Stanley Swingle II and wife, Anne of Amarillo, TX, Bill Swingle and wife, Ruth of Albuquerque; two grandsons; two granddaughters; two step-granddaughters; five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Lee Swingle. She was a member of the Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church. She will be missed by her family and friends. A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20, 1999 at Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4920 Wyoming NE. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, was in charge of arrangements.

Teddy Taber, 16, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, as a result of an auto accident. He is survived by his parents, Ted and Linda Taber of Albuquerque; sisters, Rachel Taber of Rush Springs, OK, Janna Hobson and Megan Taber, both of Albuquerque; brother, Jeff Hobson of Albuquerque; grandparents, Hazel Taber of Tucson, AZ and Jack and Corky Welch of Albuquerque, Shirley Decker and Terrie Childress of Rush Springs, OK; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Teddy attended Cibola High School and was active in football and wrestling. He was dearly loved by many friends and will be greatly missed. Services will be held Monday, 11:30 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE, with Pastor Todd Cook and Pastor Bruce L. Troy officiating. David Arthur Thomas, who was born January 9, 1928 at Pocatello, Idaho, passed away in Albuquerque on June 17, 1999. After serving in the Marine Corps in China, Mr. Thomas moved to Albuquerque in 1950 and graduated from UNM in 1952. He subsequently worked as a journalist in Albuquerque for the Associated Press, Albuquerque Journal, and the Rocky Mountain Construction Magazine. In 1980, he changed careers to become a noted sculptor of scientifically accurate dinosaurs. His sculptures include the two life-size bronze dinosaurs in front of the NM Museum of Natural History, as well as pieces in natural history museums in Addison, AL, Taiwan, Salt Lake City, Bozeman, MT, San Diego, and others. His skills were featured in several national journals and the Discovery TV Channel. He was also an accomplished classical and jazz violinist, playing with the NM Symphony Orchestra and several local bands. He is survived by his wife, Joan; a daughter, Debbie Thomas; a son, David E. Thomas and wife, Pam, all of Albuquerque; a brother, Frank J. Thomas and his wife, Carol of Malibu, CA; and two grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew. He will be missed by his family and all of his friends. He loved us all, as we loved him. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 23, 2:00 p.m., at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the NM Museum of Natural History or to the NM Symphony Orchestra are suggested. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mr. Thomas, (891-8200).

Albert VanDame, of Las Cruces, passed away at his home on Friday, June 18, 1999. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Graham Mortuary. Services under the direction of Graham Mortuary, Mesilla Valley Crematory, 555 W. Amador, Las Cruces, NM 88005

Mrs. Deluvina Velarde died on Friday at the age of 77. She is survived by her two sons, Sam Velarde and Jessie Velarde and wife, Lydia; one daughter, Sister Ernestine Velarde O.D.N. of Rome, a member of the Sisters of the Company of Mary; and four grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Velarde will be held on Tuesday at the St. Edwin Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening at the St. Edwin Church at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements by the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 3rd St. SW.

Brian Shawn Angel, 24, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday June 17, 2000. Brian is survived by his mother, Celina Angel; a sister, Denise Griego and husband, David; aunts, Pat Archuleta and husband, Bob, Gloria Lovato, and Anita Apodaca and husband, Luciano. Also surviving are three nieces, Celina, Teena, and Veronica; a nephew, Gary; and a great-nephew, Matthew. Brian enjoyed performing with his Punk Rock Band "The Pet Peeves" which he founded, he liked writing, and animation drawing. Friends may visit today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. also in Alameda Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday June 23, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. Reverend Father Ronald Bibeau, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Angel, David Griego, Vhal Paz, Mike Soleki, Mike Lindsay, and Chris Marcus. Michael Peter Ashe passed on June 16, 2000 in his home in Albuquerque, of heart failure. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Valentine; and his son, Peter Ashe and daughter, Julie Ashe. Michael was born of Peter and Sophie Akushka on April 2, 1918 in New Jersey, graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, and pursued a career in Civil Engineering in Connecticut and New York. He and his childhood friend, Valentine were married in 1940. During WWII, he served as a Naval Officer in the South Pacific. In 1950, he and his family moved to rural Connecticut, where he participated in many civil affairs, including Board of Education, Fire Department, and building committees. After retirement 38 years later, he and Valentine moved to Albuquerque to be near his son and daughter. A future Memorial service is planned.

Genevieve A. Burns, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Monday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calib E. Burns in 1977. She is survived by her brother, Evan Thomas of Las Vegas, NV; niece, Aletha Phelps also of Las Vegas, NV. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 21, 2000, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be held in Lubbock, TX. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, in charge of arrangements.

Mark Daniel Dorotik, 32, a 14-year resident of Las Cruces, died Sunday, June 18, 2000. He is survived by his father, Joe Daniel Dorotik of Albuquerque; mother, Mary Jane Dorotik-Gallegos of Albuquerque; brothers, Brian Dorotik of Madison, WI and Timothy Allgood of Alexandria, VA; sister, Janice Comer and husband, Dan of Denver, CO; grandmother, Leta Gallegos of Albuquerque; nieces, Megan Comer of Denver, CO and Tracy Knox of Atlanta, GA; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members. Mark was born in Albuquerque on March 9, 1968. He was a 1986 graduate of Cibola High School and also graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in electrical engineering. Mark loved the outdoors, rock climbing, mountaineering, and scuba diving. He was an airplane pilot and a jumpmaster and member of the American Parachute Association. He loved to play volleyball and was a member of the Desert Volleyball Association in Las Cruces. Cremation has taken place and a memorial gathering will take place at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2000 at the Rose Garden in Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Dr. William H. (Dub) Foster died at Golden Age Nursing Center on June 11, 2000 in Clovis. He was born on April 1, 1910 in Success, Arkansas, to Rev. David Kirby and Bessie Elizabeth Foster. Most of his growing-up years were spent in Doniphan and Caruthersville, Missouri, where his father was a Baptist Minister. Both towns provided him with many cherished friends and memories. Dr. Foster was a longtime educator in both Missouri and New Mexico. He began his teaching career in Portagesville, Missouri, and went from there to Caruthersville, Missouri, where he was an elementary school principal. He was superintendent in Wardell, Missouri, after which the family moved to the Southwest. Dr. Foster began his New Mexico years in Carlsbad as high school principal. From there he was superintendent in both Raton and Farmington. While in New Mexico, Dr. Foster was involved in numerous other school-related activities. He helped to organize, and then directed, branch community colleges at Carlsbad, Raton and Farmington, New Mexico. He also served as president of the School Administrators of New Mexico and was a member of the State Board of Education. After leaving New Mexico, Dr. Foster spent three years teaching at the University of Arizona and nine years teaching at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. Dr. Foster was actively involved in church and civic affairs in each of the towns where he lived, as well. He earned his Bachelors degree at Murray State College in Murray, Kentucky; his Masters at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee, and his Doctorate from the University of Arizona. Dr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. David Kirby Foster and Bessie Gerrish Foster; his first wife, Frances Lee Broach Foster; a daughter, Frances Linda Foster; and his brothers, Lowell, Wayman and Welton Foster. He is survived by his second wife, Helen Louise Faulkner McDowell Foster of Warrensburg, MO; his daughter, Jean Foster Miller of Clovis; two step-sons, Richard and Jim McDowell of Blue Springs and Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three nieces; and two nephews. Dub Foster was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He spent endless hours playing games with and telling stories to three generations of children. His love of nature was illustrated in a little book of stories about the various animals and birds which he loved and observed during 20 years at his beloved cabin on Pomme de Terre Lake in the Missouri Ozarks. He instilled an appreciation of all things in nature plus a sense of honor and fair play in his many oral and written stories. Additionally, he was a role model and mentor for hundreds of people who chose to follow him into the field of education. Graveside services were held Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. Skip Clark officiated. Memorial scholarship fund has been established in Dr. Foster's name at Clovis Community College, 417 Schepps Blvd., Clovis, NM 88101. Arrangements were by Muffley Funeral Home, Inc., Clovis, 505-762-4435.

A Memorial service was held Saturday, June 17 to celebrate the life of Walter Herrmann. He was born May 2, 1930 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and died June 4, 2000 while under Hospice care in Albuquerque. He was the only child born to Gottlob Fredrich Herrmann, hotel proprietor and Gertrud Louise Herrmann (nee Ratzlaff). Herrmann received both his undergraduate (1953) and Ph.D. (1955) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Witwatersrand University in South Africa, and completed post-doctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He taught Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town for two years until 1957, when Dr. Herrmann was invited to return to MIT to work as a researcher in the Cold War effort. In 1964, Dr. Herrmann moved to Albuquerque to work at Sandia National Laboratory, attaining the position of Director of Engineering Science. During his career he published about 200 technical papers and presented his research at symposiums around the world. He was inducted into the US National Academy of Engineering in 1993, and retired that same year. He married Betty Lorraine Allard in 1955 with whom he raised two children, a daughter, Inga and son, Peter before divorcing in 1983. In 1988, Dr. Herrmann married Ednarae Bligh Gross, who preceded him in death in 1996. During their short life together Walter and Ednarae traveled extensively, and took up SCUBA diving. Dr. Herrmann was an accomplished skier, mountaineer, and cyclist, and he enjoyed river rafting and SCUBA diving. He volunteered for many years with mountain rescue in New Mexico and in his retirement was an active volunteer for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History, and served as a docent at archaeological sites in southern Colorado. He was a member of the Grey Wolves and the Prime Time Gang. Throughout his life, Dr. Herrmann was an avid traveler, and in his later years, he developed a passion for tall ships and sailing, and archaeology. Survivors include his children, Inga and Peter; step-sons, Allan and Jeffrey Gross, all of Albuquerque; a step-daughter, Janis Gross of Longmont, CO; grandchildren, Rishar, Mariah, and Joshua; and his former wife, Betty Lorraine Allard Herrmann of Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Walter Herrmann Memorial Fund at the Rio Grande Zoological Park, 903 10th SW, Albuquerque 87102, funds raised will benefit future construction of the African exhibit.

Garth W. (Bill) Jordan, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, died Sunday, June 18, 2000 following a brief illness. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jimmie; son, Tom Krattiger and wife, Mollie of Albuquerque; daughter, Carol Hobbs and husband, Don of Lebanon, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Kristie Krattiger of Albuquerque, Paul Krattiger of Killeen, Texas, Misti Fussell and husband, Brian, Heather Hobbs; and great-grandson, Mikah Hobbs, all of Lebanon, Tennessee; brothers, Lyman C. and Larry Jordan of Pensacola, Florida; sisters, Joyce Brinza of Cudahy, Wisconsin and Eileen Kimball of B.C., Canada. Bill served his country first in the United States Navy during World War II and then in the United States Air Force for 28 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque, the Masonic Lodge, Ballut Abyad Temple and the Scottish Rite. Bill loved fishing with Jimmie at Vallecitos Lake in Colorado, gardening, and spending time with his family. He gave graciously of his time to help others. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. Per Bill's request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place. Agnes E. Kaess, 60, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died Friday, June 16, 2000. She is survived by her mother, Patria K. Kaess of Albuquerque; sister, Antoinette "Toni" Eidson of Albuquerque; brother, Howard "Pete" Kaess of Everrett, WA; nephew, Eric Eidson of Albuquerque; and two nieces, Melody Kaess of Warrington, OR and Carla Eidson of Albuquerque. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Gerald White officiating. Cremation will take place following the services. Larry Michael Lovato Jr., 20, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, June 16, 2000. Larry was born in Albuquerque on September 25, 1979; he attended Rio Grande High School and Albuquerque High School; he was an outstanding athlete in baseball, football and basketball in Southern California, Phoenix and Albuquerque; he was a parishioner of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. Larry was known for his big heart and the lovable and thoughtful person he was. He leaves behind his loving parents, Larry (Lawrence) Lovato Sr. and wife, Ginger of the family home; mother, Rosie Mounkes of Kansas; two brothers, Franko Garcia of Albuquerque, David Furst of California; two sisters, Gabriella Lovato and Juanita Lovato, both of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Ernest Sr. and Alice Lovato; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Eutimia Garcia; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Larry will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Final viewing will be this morning, 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, with Fr. Tom Zotter as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Isaac Padilla, Jonathan Roybal, Robert Padilla, Henry Gutierrez, Frankie Lovato, Justin Lovato, Cesar Lopez and Robert Sanchez. Honorary bearers will be Michael Lovato, Ernie Lovato and Davey Furst. Funeral services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW.

Lewis D. Martinez, born July 11, 1918 in Fort Lupton, Colorado, passed away on June 19, 2000. Lewie and his future wife, Pearl, both moved to Fort Collins in the 1920s. Lewis and Pearl were married in Kimball, Nebraska on March 25, 1942. After 52 years of marriage, Pearl M. Moore-Martinez died April 3, 1994. Lewie's first job was with Forney's Industries in the 1940s. Later in life, he became a fine craftsman in masonry and worked as a brick layer and stone mason for 25 years. He eventually retired from Colorado State University after an additional ten years of employment. Lewie was very active with Fort Collins' baseball leagues as a player, manager, and a sponsor for the Fort Collins Legionnaires' Team. He was also an active member of the Fort Collins' Chapter for Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also served in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific. Lewie was the last survivor of his immediate family. All of his brothers and sisters preceded his death. His brothers were Philip, Ralph, Robert, and Lee; and his sisters were Alvera Armijo and Ella Martinez. His parents were Frank Martinez and Sencion Montez-Martinez. Survivors of his family include his son, Ray Martinez, the Mayor of Fort Collins; and daughters, Mary Jane Methena of Rifle, CO and Dora Romero of Rock Springs, WY. There are four grandchildren, Laura Durr of Loveland, CO, Margaret Romero, Myra Smith of Rifle, CO, and Mark Methena of Glenwood Springs, CO. He also leaves three great-grandchildren. Dad is remembered by family and friends as a man who enjoyed cooking, being intuitively perceptive of character, paying his own way, and persistently pursuing success. Cancer took a toll on his body, but not his mind. His memory and wit were sharp as ever. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Drake Road Chapel of Allnutt Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, at Peak Community Church, 500 Mathews St., Fort Collins, CO. Contributions can be made to Hospice of Larimer County c/o Allnutt Funeral Service.
