BETTY JANE DICKERSON, 79, of Santa Fe died Friday. She was born May 11, 1923, in Faugache, Colo. She graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended the University of New Mexico, where she was Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority member. She served in the WAVES during World World II. Rosemary V. Brown (Vaden) died peacefully at Kaseman Hospice on Tuesday, June 10, 2003. She was born in Mesilla Park, NM, June 27, 1920. She is survived by her sister, Jean Pierce of Albuquerque; son, Dave and daughter-in-law, Donna of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Alice Ann Ferriola and son-in-law, Rick Ferriola of Ft. Myers, FL; sister-in-law, Sister Mary Josetta of Rogers, AR; grandchildren, Ben and Celia Brown, Robin Wagner, Rick, Tina and Nichole Feriola; great-granddaughter, Amanda; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bernard F. Brown in 2002; parents, Clay and Mary Vaden; brother, Samuel Vaden who was killed in World war II; and sister, Mina Walsh. Rosemary graduated from the Loretto Academy in Santa Fe in 1938 and loved to tell stories of running up and down the now famous Loretto Chapel's "Miracle Staircase" for choir. She also attended New Mexico State Teachers College (Western New Mexico University) in Silver City. She served as Bill Clerk of the New Mexico State Senate in 1939. From 1940 to 1945, she worked at the New Mexico Bureau of Revenue. During World War II, Rosemary was a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol and received an honorary appointment from New Mexico Governor John E. Miles as a Colonel, Aide-de Camp to the Governor's Staff. She met Bernard while he was serving with the Medical Detachment of the 1886th Service Command Unit at Bruns General Hospital in Santa Fe during the War. They were married in St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe in 1944. Later, the couple moved to Illinois where his family was located and lived in Springfield where Bernard returned to work as a Pharmacist. Rosemary worked for many years as a bookkeeper with the Rickbial Accounting Firm and then as the head bookkeeper for the B & F Toggery Mens' Stores in Springfield. She was also a volunteer at the St. Agnes Grade School in Springfield where Dave went to school. After retirement in 1980, Bernard and Rosemary returned to New Mexico and lived in Albuquerque where she was involved in the "Golden Agers" and was an avid card player with her friends. Cremation has taken place. A Remembrance reception will be held Thursday, June 19, 2003, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A Mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Reynaldo (Rey) Griego, 62 years, left to go home to the loving arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Monday, June 16, 2003. Rey fought long and hard to recover from a brief illness. Rey was born and raised in La Joya, New Mexico, where he graduated high school in 1958. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories in October 2002 after 28 years of service. Rey and his music will be missed by all. Rey is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Barbara; his children, Roberta Garcia and her husband, Randy, Patrick Griego and his wife, Denise; Jessica and her husband, Mario Mauricio; and Rey Mora; and his mother-in-law, Susie Gow. Robert E. Kirkpatrick, 79, of Las Cruces died Monday, June 16 at Memorial Medical Center. His father, George; mother, Bernice; and son, Robert Steven Kirkpatrick, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice Ann Schneider; daughter, Eileen and husband, Wayne Gilbert of Las Cruces; son, Mark of Las Cruces; sister, Ethel and her husband, Jim Reese of Ocala, FL; brother, George and his wife, Jo of Palm Desert, CA.; sister, Margie and her husband, John Wullschleger of Evans, CO.; brother, Richard and his wife, Mary of Pismo, Beach, CA.; sister, Mary Ann and her husband, Kenny Howell of Denver, CO; brother, Harvey and his wife, Karen of Broomfield Co.; daughter-in-law, Virginia Killin of Gilbert, AZ; and grandsons, Dan of Las Cruces and Jimmy of Santa Fe. Kirkpatrick was born in Kansas City, MO, April 8, 1924 and grew up in Englewood, Colorado where he graduated from high school. He served for two years in World War II in the South Pacific with the U.S. Marine Corps and was part of the first occupational force in Japan. Kirkpatrick earned his accounting degree from the University of Denver in 1951 and his CPA certificate in 1960. He was a senior accountant with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in Santa Fe for six years and later was employed by two other Santa Fe accounting firms. In 1965 the Governor appointed him Chief of Financial Control Division and Deputy Director of the Department of Finance and Administration. Gov. Bruce King appointed him the Director of the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration in 1970, a position he held four years until he was named Vice President for Business Affairs at New Mexico State University. With his contacts and experience in state government Kirkpatrick was also the chief contact between the university and the state legislature. Most recently he was honored by the New Mexico Society of Certified Public Accountants when he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding achievement and devotion to the CPA profession. In 1974, he was the recipient of the New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award and the 1986 received the NMSU President's Award for Service. Kirkpatrick's affiliations included the American Institute of CPAs, the N.M. Society of CPAs and the Montezuma Lodge No.1, A.F.& A.M. in Santa Fe. For many years he served as the finance officer at University Methodist Church in Las Cruces. He was an avid fan of Aggie football and basketball. In high school he was a caddie at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver and continued his interest in golf joining a select group of retirees at the NMSU course. Military Honors will be held at 9 a.m. Friday June 20, 2003 at Veterans Park. A private family internment will follow Friday at the Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Maggie was born on July 22, 1931 in Vida, "Riverside Community", MT to Joseph and Anna Bailly. She moved to Albuquerque in 1961 with her husband and family. Maggie was known for her caring and giving nature. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working craft projects, gardening, and watching colorful hummingbirds flit about her homemade feeders. She compassionately gave of her time and volunteered over 3000 hours at Anna Kaseman Hospital. She always had a smile for those she met and was never too busy to play a game with her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by young and old as the "Grandma with the homemade cookies" or the "Grandma with the strawberries ". She also was known for having a "home remedy" for almost everything imaginable. She was preceded in death by her brother, Julian Bailly. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Joseph B. Losinski; her sons, Sylvester; Paul and wife, Stacy; Armand and wife, Pam; and Eddy and wife, Jane; her daughter, Anita Romero and husband, Pat; her brothers, Albert and wife Barbara; George and wife, Helen; Leon and wife, Irene; and Ernest and wife, Mary; her sisters, Agnes Brown and husband, Herb; and Marguerite Lemieux; nine grandchildren, hannon, Ian, Kayla, Weston, Kenton, Marcus and Sheila Losinski; and Amanda and Waylon Raether. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 20 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1818 Coal Ave. SE, with Father Robert Chabot, Celebrant. Sgt. Major John Palmer Mitchell, U.S. Army (Ret.), 81, a resident of Albuquerque; died Monday, June 16, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Mitchell of Albuquerque; sons, John P. Mitchell, Jr. of Miami, FL; daughters, Joann Obara and husband, Bernie of Taos and Anita Mitchell and companion, George Vallejos of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Zack Taylor Wright and wife, Barbara; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Ortiz, Kailey Wright and Shila Wright; brother, George Smith and wife, Lorraine; and sisters, Helen Eby and husband, Ed, Dolly Aliminda and husband, Karl and Betty Rowe. Mr. Mitchell was in the Merchant Marines for one year in 1943 and went around the world. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and retired in 1962 as Sergeant Major. He attended and ushered at the Redstone Arsenal Chapel in Alabama. Services will be held Thursday, 12:00 noon, at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
