Eumelia (Meena) H. Pohl passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2000. Mrs. Pohl was preceded in death by her mother and father, Carlota and Ramon Herrera; brother, Gabriel Herrera and his wife, Ernestine. Mrs. Pohl will be greatly missed by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; sons, Daniel and Michael Pohl; and daughter, Charlotte Flynn; brothers, Albert Herrera and wife, Frances, Raymond Herrera and wife, Rosella; grandchildren, Sherry Neilson, Loretta Patrick, Carolyn Flynn, Mell Flynn, and Tanya Pohl; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Eumelia was an educator in the New Mexico public school system at the Elementary School level for 35 years. Retired in 1973, Mrs. Pohl spent the rest of her time as a happy homemaker. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2000 at the Garcia Chapel on 8th and Iron SW. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday morning, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW. Internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casketbearers are Kenneth, Ron, Gabe, and Philip Herrera, and Carolyn and Mell Flynn. Honorary Casketbearers are Ramon Herrera and Nathan Herrera. Manuel (Rito) Romero, 89, a resident of Albuquerque most of his life, died at home on June 14, 2000 after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lela Quintana; a daughter, Irene M. Sanchez; a son, Ricardo Romero; granddaughter, Susan R. Wolff and husband, Jerry of Nambe, NM; a step-son, Ernest M. Lovato and wife, Chris of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He also left many friends. He touched many lives throughout his lifetime with his generosities and will be deeply missed and remembered always. A Rosary service will be recited at Garcia Mortuary, 8th and Stover SW., at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2000. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17, 2000, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW. Interment will follow in San Pedro, New Mexico. Charles (Chale) A. Silva passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2000. He would have celebrated his 67th birthday on June 29th. He was born and raised in Albuquerque's South Valley. He served honorably in the U.S. Army. He is survived by two daughters, Vennessa Silva Chavez and Suzanna L. Montano; one grandson, Elijah; one brother, Cirilio (Lilo) Silva and wife, Stella; one sister, Maria (Nicka) Roblez; and two special cousins, Rafael Herrera and Mary Alice Herrera Gutierrez; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We will all miss him. Cremation has taken place. Bruce R. Taylor, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, died Tuesday, June 13, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Taylor of Moriarty; sons, Bruce Lee Taylor of Deming, NM and Stephen Paul Taylor and wife, Shelly of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Lynne Ann Baggs and husband, Jerry of Spur, TX and Deborah Gail Brown and husband, Robert J. of Chandler, AZ; nine grandchildren; brothers, Donald C. Taylor and wife, Pauline of Albuquerque and James R. Taylor of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Taylor worked 40 years with General Office Supply, Howden Stationery, and B.T. Mary Oliphant Terrazas, age 90, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000. Daughter of Joseph and Sophia Gallegos Oliphant was preceded her in death, who were original founders of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She is survived by her children, son, Bert J. and his wife, Martha; daughter, Mary Frances Sanchez and husband, Richard; son, James R. and wife, Lydia; son, Christopher L. and wife, Kathleen; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 15, 2000 at Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna NW. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2000 at Holy Rosary Church with Father Joel Gardner as Celebrant. Escorts will be Anita Me Terrazas-Rymarz, Deborah L. Jimmy Don Wiseman died in Las Cruces on Saturday, June 10, 2000 in the company of many loved ones. He is survived by his sister, Mary McCord of Abilene, TX; and four married children, Julie Wiseman Lucero of Las Cruces, MSgt. Christopher Wade Wiseman of Yuma, AZ, Evelyn Casey Wiseman Williams of Greenville, SC, Justin Douglas Wiseman of San Francisco, CA; one niece and seven nephews, including close friend, Marc McCord of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren; and many friends and family who loved and will miss him. Jim resided in Lake Dallas, TX. He was an Air Force veteran, lawyer, musician, builder, artist, and philosopher. Jim was a beloved father and friend with a heart of gold. Jim was born in Claude, TX on September 20, 1935. FRANK A. BACA, 85, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Monday at the Las Vegas Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was an auto mechanic and owned and operated the Plaza Garage. He was also a shop foreman at the New Mexico Highway Department, retiring in 1977. He served as a volunteer fireman for the E. Romero Hose and Fire Company for 25 years. Baca also was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Severo and Aurelia Ulibarri Baca; grandmother, Ursula Baca; the aunt who raised him, Sara Baca; a sister, Daily Baca; brothers Severo, Benny, Ramon, Luciano and Louis Baca; and a granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Baca of Las Vegas; sons Edward Baca and wife Lena of Vallejo, Calif., Ray Baca, Johnny Baca, and Frank J. Baca, all of Las Vegas; daughters Rita Marie Baca, and Jeanette Yara and husband Jake, all of Las Vegas; a daughter-in-law, Marie Violet Garduņo of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. LUCY M. CORDOVA, 62, of El Guache died Monday at the Espaņola Hospital. She was preceded in death by her sister, Idalia Gallegos; and husbands Oliver Gallegos and Sam Cordova. She is survived by her daughter, Maxine Gomez and husband Thomas of El Guache; a brother, Larry Martinez of Espaņola; sisters Cecilia DeVargas and husband Ubaldo, Virginia Vigil and husband Sam, Joyce Martinez, all of Ranchitos, and Sylvia Pana and husband Zachrias of Fairview; a brother-in-law, Mike Gallegos of Ranchitos; three grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. ODELIA DURAN, 57, of El Llano died Tuesday following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Victoria Chavez; brothers Filiberto Chavez and Roberto Chavez; sisters Espephanita Vigil and Mary Sandoval; and a brother-in-law, Ramon Vigil. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Duran of El Llano; children Beverly Martinez and husband Lenny of Chimayo, Carolyn Lopez and husband Peter, Janet Vigil, Eddie Duran and wife Monica, Veronica Duran and boyfriend Michael Padilla, and Cindy Duran and boyfriend Allen Martinez of El Llano; brothers Nestor Chavez and wife Ermelinda, and Ernesto Chavez and wife Viola; sisters-in-law, Flora Chavez, and Lorraine Chavez; sisters Zulema Harvey and husband Bob, and Rosiņa Pacheco and husband Dan; a brother-in-law, Ruben Sandoval; 12 grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. MARGAERT HERN, 72, of El Provenir died Tuesday following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 18, 1928. Hern was a school teacher for 27 years. She taught in Villanueva, Questa and the West Las Vegas schools. She was preceded in death by her children, Paul, Marie, Carlos, and Peter Hern; parents Benito Romero and Antonia Duran Romero; and a brother, Ernesto Romero. She is survived by her husband, Oliver Hern of Las Vegas; children Elizabeth Torres and husband Kelly of Rio Rancho, Kathy Leyba and husband Isaac of El Porvenir, Mark Hern and wife Cissy, Annette Hern, and Paula Hern, all of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Neaves Silva and husband Arthur of Albuquerque; a brother, Ramon Romero and wife Cila of Los Alamos; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at the same church. Burial will follow in El Porvenir. ROSEMARIE MARQUEZ, 45, of Des Montes died Monday. She worked at the Northern New Mexico Women's Health and Birth Center. She is survived by her husband, Antonio Archie Marquez; a daughter, Maria Elena Marquez and fiance Adrian Ortega and their son Christopher Marquez of Des Montes; father, Juan Frank Martinez of Taos; mother, Augustina Pacheco and husband Lee of Des Montes; brothers and sisters Paul Martinez and wife Debbie, Frank Martinez, Jeanette Martinez and husband Alex Garcia, Debbie Martinez, and Lori Pavelko and husband Scott; and numerous other relatives and friends. SIRIA V. MONDRAGON, 85, of Llano Quemado died Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Todivio Mondragon; and a daughter, Manuelita Mondragon. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Martinez and husband Billy of Ranchos de Taos; and a son-in-law, Benny Mondragon of Llano Quemado; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. MEREDITH 'BUNNY' STEWART, 89, of Santa Fe died Sunday. She is survived by her husband, Louis; a son, Thomas J. Sanders and wife Claudia; daughters Mildred Pergolizzi, Michelle Wolfe and husband Allen; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Anthony G. Cardella died at home Sunday, June 10, after a long illness. He was born November 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska. As a first generation American, he was fiercely patriotic, serving in the U.S. Army in WWII "the big one", and in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion, as well as Edelweiss AM Rio Grande. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille; his daughter, Antonia (TJ) and husband, Maclean Zehler of Albuquerque; his son, Richard and wife, Sylvia Cardella of Hydesville, CA; two grandsons, Damian and wife, Laura Drago of Burbank, CA. and Christopher Bretz of Montesano, WA.; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Dad was like a force of nature-remember him dancing! Services will be held Friday, June 15, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Sons, 3113 Carlisle NE. Private internment will follow at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery. There will be a gathering to celebrate Dad's life at Edelweiss, 4821 Menaul NE following the Memorial Service. Adelia Garcia, 83, passed away at home in San Antonio, NM., June 14, 2001. A native New Mexican and member of the San Antonio Mission, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and baker of delicious breads. She was preceded in death by her sons, Zenon, Porfirio, and Felimon Garcia, and granddaughter, Christina. Adelia is survived by her husband of 66 years, Teofilo Jose Garcia; daughters, Mary Alice Torres and husband, Sam, Dolores Miller and husband, Gary, Libby Palmer, Bernadette Pino and husband Daniel; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren sisters Sally Trujillo, Clorinda Archibeque and husband Julio; sisters-in-law Angie Zamora and Maria Zamora. Services will be held at San Antonio Mission in Tijeras with a Rosary to be recited by James Rael at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2001, with burial following at the San Antonio Cemetery. Michael E. Jones, 48, suddenly drowned at Henderson Beach Florida on June 6, 2001. He was a beloved son, brother, father, friend, scientist and colleague. An active member of the La Vista Church of the Nazarene since October 14, 1979 in Los Alamos. Mike was teen bible quizzing coach at the church from 1985 to 1999 and won many district championships. He worked with Bienvenidos in Santa Fe feeding the homeless for the past three years. Employed by Los Alamos National Lab in Los Alamos for the past 23 years in X-1 group. Mike was elected Fellow of the American Physics Society in 1999 and was a highly respected scientist and group leader. Fellow colleagues regarded Mike as "the finest group leader they have ever worked with ". He was a friend to all and will be missed. Mike Jones is survived by his mother, Volina Jones of Opp, AL; brothers, Donald Howard and wife, Shirley Opp, AL, David Howard and wife, Betty of Mobile, AL; Mike's children, Katherine and Phillip, Los Alamos, NM; and Mike's fiancee, Christy Salazar, Santa Fe, NM. The Funeral was held in Opp, AL on June 11, 2001. Mike was laid to rest at Peaceful Acres Cemetery in Opp, AL. The Pallbearers were Rhon Keinigs, Ricky Faehl, and Bob Kares. The Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Wellborn, Roger Howard, Dan Winske and Richard Parr. A Memorial Service will be held at the La Vista Church of the Nazarene on Monday, June 18, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will also be held at St. Maria's Church in Santa Fe, to be announced later. A scholarship fund has been set up in Mike Jones' name at Los Alamos National Bank where donations will be accepted.

Norma Jean Lease, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2001. Norma was born November 20, 1919 the daughter of Fred and Ruth Brown Goss in Coshocton, Ohio. She came to New Mexico in 1949 from Ohio. She was a member of the Sertoma Club. Norma was preceded in death by one son, Richard Lease and one grandson, Troy Edwin Lease. She is survived by four children, Marsha Atchley and husband, George of Gurly, AL, Edwin E. Lease II and wife, Cathy of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy Lease and wife, Jacqueline of Albuquerque and Tom Lease and wife, Sondra of Rio Rancho; eight grandchildren, Randy Lease, Jayme Lease, Tony Lease, David Lease, Audra Miester, Dannielle Atchley, Shawn Lease, and Megan Lease; seven great-grandchildren, Nolan Ryan Lease, David Michael Lease, Jr. Catilin Lease, Matthew Atchley, Stephen and Michael Frausto. Norma was very beloved by her family, she was always there for them. Paul Lester Jr., age 47, a resident of Milan, NM died Monday, June 11, 2001 in Grants, NM. Paul is survived by two daughters, Melanie Jaramillo of El Paso, TX, and Crystal Lester of Albuquerque, NM; and his fiance, Dorothy Romero of Milan, NM; his mother, Nancy Lester of Albuquerque, NM; one stepsister, Audrey Kay Romero of El Ko, NV; two brothers, Jim Lester and his wife, Vicky of Albuquerque, NM and Carlos Lester of Albuquerque, NM. Paul spent most of his life working in the lumber business in New Mexico. A viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, June 14, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Mark Dwane Lopez, 31, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, June 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife, LeiLani Lopez of the family home; son, Dakota Lopez; stepdaughter, Brittney McGeorge; mother, Gloria Lopez; father, Brijido Montoya; sisters, CeCe Murphy, Amalia Beanca Lopez, Helen Davidson and Diana Montoya; brothers, David Brian Lopez, Noah James Wheeler, J.B. Montoya and Steve Ramirez; mother-in-law, Artie Yellowhorse; sister-in-law, Desire Crabtree and husband, Jimmy; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and special friends, Georgia and Dwight Crabtree. Mr. Lopez was a Hospital Corpsman, 3rd Class Petty Officer, attached to a United State Marine Unit during Desert Storm. He has worked at Los Alamos Labs for the last three years and was currently enrolled at College of Santa Fe working on a degree in computer science. He was the most talented, kind and cherished person who always put others before himself. He was an angel and soul mate for his wife. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Yasmine Lujan, 3, was called home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Victoria Lujan; father, Paul Lujan Sr.; brothers, Paul Lujan Jr., Juan Lujan; sister, Marissa Lujan; grandparents, Victor Pohl and Linda Aragon; also special auntie, Francine Leyba. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited Friday night June 15, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church. Jude Damian Mari died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 in Albuquerque at the age of 38. Jude is survived by his mother, Franzela Mari; and brother, Jeremiah V. Johnson, both of Albuquerque. Funeral Services for Jude will be held on Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Duncan McRae, husband of the late Mary McRae, left to join her last Friday evening, June 8, 2001. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Elizabeth; and her children; but also by other close family and his many friends. His family and those who loved him covers many miles. His only surviving sister, Nan, who lives in Scotland; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gwen, Joan, Owen and George; and his niece and nephews, Fay, Miguel and Michael. Thank you to all his friends with whom he enjoyed his time in Albuquerque and sincere thanks to Karen and Randy, who deserve a special mention for all the love and support they afforded him. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2001 at Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Luis Montano, born August 8, 1916 passed away June 13, 2001. A beloved daddy, grandpa, brother, and uncle, he is survived by his two daughters; five sisters; three brothers; ten grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2001, with burial following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip, Henry, Deio, Marvin, Charles, and Tony. Edward M. (Eddie) Naranjo, 30, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, from injuries he received in an automobile accident. Eddie was a very talented artist and potter. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and he was an avid 94 Rock listener. He is survived by his parents, Edward and Gracie Naranjo of Santa Clara Pueblo; two sisters, Teresa Naranjo and Tracy Naranjo; a niece, Iris Naranjo all of Santa Clara Pueblo; aunts and uncles, Stella Chavarria and husband, Loretto (Cruzie), Mida Tafoya, Mary Ekleberry, Mary Cain all of Santa Clara Pueblo, Cecilia Arviso and husband, Paul of Gallup, Patsy Lopez of Prescott, AZ, and Tom Joe of Gallup; many cousins and many other relatives, friends, and his co-workers at the Albuquerque Journal. On Thursday, June 14, 2001 visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. and a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the residence of the late Teresita Naranjo in Santa Clara Pueblo. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at the Santa Clara Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Santa Clara Pueblo Cemetery with family and friends assisting as Pallbearers. Robert L. "Bob" Parrish, 73, died on June 10, 2001, after enduring a chronic illness, at Lovelace Medical Center. He was the loving and devoted husband to Ottilie Parrish for almost 44 years. He was a veteran and served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Following his retirement from the Army, he remained active in civil service and amassed a total of 38 years of active duty. He enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing and camping (especially at Lake Powell). He is survived by his son, Duane; and his daughter, Deborah of Houston, Texas, both of whom will miss him dearly; and our Labrador, Titan. Interment of cremated remains will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Monday, June 18, 2001 at 12:00 noon.

Alejandro (Alex) Roybal went into the loving arms of our Lord on June 13, 2001, surrounded by all his loving family. Alex is survived by his loving wife, Elisa Proo Roybal of 53 years; by his children, Rosita Roybal Gallegos and husband, Michael, Carlos Roybal, and Alex Roybal and wife, Rebecca; his six grandchildren; and his brother, Arturo Jimenez and sister, Esther Collado. He is also survived by his special sisters-in-law, Margie Proo and Annie Jimenez; and by many special nieces, nephews and friends. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Jimenez and father, Alejandro Roybal; his brother, Albert and special sister-in-law, Mary Lou Roybal; and his sisters, Amy Chavez and Clara St. Laurent. Memorial Services for Mr. Roybal will be held on Saturday at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
