Richard H. Boyle "Dick", 65, a resident of Albuquerque for 16 years, died Monday, June 7, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy J. Boyle "Dottie" of the family home; son, David Allen Boyle of Albuquerque; daughters, Donna Lee Norris and husband, Lee of Albuquerque and Amy Susan May and husband, Michael of Slidell, LA; six grandchildren, David and Sarah Boyle, Steven and J.D. Emery, and Tamara and Christopher May; sister, Lois Munno and husband, John of New York; and brother, Howard Boyle and wife, Norma of Boise, ID. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a generous, hardworking man who loved, supported, and took care of his family always. He loved the Lord, Jesus, and his family finds comfort knowing that he is with his Heavenly Father. He will be missed dearly. He was a member of Church on the Rock and Local Sheetmetal Workers Union, No. 49. Services will be held Friday, June 11, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. June M. Brewer, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 73 years, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 7, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dainen T. Brewer of Albuquerque; daughters, Nancy Bordenave of Albuquerque, and Linda Allen and husband, Jim of Bosque Farms; six grandchildren, David Allen, Dayna Melvin and Tiffany Bordenave, all of Albuquerque, Yvonne Christner of Sitka, AK, Leslie Pricer of Arlington, TX and Paula Stout of Alatha, KS; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and step-sister, Rita Hall of California. Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Ramsey in 1976. She was longtime member of Monte Vista Christian Church. Services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Glenn Ricketts, officiating. Lorena A. Brooks, born January 3, 1899 in a dugout in Knox County, Texas, died June 6, 1999 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Services will be held Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, with Rev. Carmen Conner officiating. Mike Fleming, Michael Reilly Brooks, Robert Hanna, Bob Nordstrum, Bob Dodson and Michael Jelosek will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bennie Jane Bunt, a resident of New Mexico for over 60 years, passed away Tuesday morning, June 8, 1999, peacefully in her sleep. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clarence Bunt in 1990. Bennie was the last surviving child in her family. She was born in Camp County, Texas, October 19, 1912. She is survived by her son, Ron Bunt and his wife, Kathy of Cuba, NM and a warm circle of loving family and friends. Bennie was a quiet, gentle woman whose loving heart touched many lives. She will be greatly missed by those she left behind. Services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor Eugene Ray officiating. Mrs. Beatrice M. Carrillo, 85, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 8, 1999. Mrs. Carrillo is survived by two daughters, Mary Davis and husband, David L. of Amarillo, TX and Mary Ann Nunez; two sons, John Carrillo and Michael Carrillo and wife, Martye of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren, Rita Ann, Cindy, Phillip, Julie, Juanita, Jose, Lorenzo, Tanya and Michelle; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Zachrias Carrillo, 1994. Mrs. Carrillo was a member of the Catholic church. A rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Gabriella Nieto, reciting. A Communion Service will be held Friday Morning at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco S.W. with final visitation at the church after 8:30 a.m., Deacon Enrique Padilla, officiating. Interment will follow at the San Jose De Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Phillip Nunez, Jose Carrillo, Lorenzo Carrillo, Bengie Gonzales, Benjamin Gonzales and Juan Montoya Jr. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.

Lorna Wadsworth Dugger, 67, an Albuquerque resident since 1967, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Mrs. Dugger is survived by her husband, Don Dugger of Albuquerque; sons, Don Dugger Jr., Thomas Dugger and James C. Dugger, all of Albuquerque; daughter, Diane Coyne of Littleton, CO; 11 grandchildren; mother, Theresa Wadsworth of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Charles Wadsworth of Alamo, NV; sisters, Lois Higbee and Nedra Shumway, both of Alamo, NV, Sharon McCall and Vera Thomas, both of Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her father, C. Earl Wadsworth. Mrs. Dugger was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eldorado Ward. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 11, 1999 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eubank Chapel, 4901 Eubank Blvd. NE, with Bishop Steven D. Myers, conducting. Bernie Gutierrez, age 43, passed away to be with the Lord, June 8, 1999. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Reyes Gutierrez; grandparents, Reyes and Maria Montoya, and Juan Pena. He is survived by his loving wife, Priscilla Ann Archibeque Gutierrez; his three sons, Robert Gutierrez, Martin Gutierrez, and Adrian Gutierrez; his daughter, Andrea Gonzales; two brothers, Raymond Gutierrez and wife, Debbie, Ronnie Gutierrez and wife, Beatrice; two sisters, Josephine Gutierrez Montoya, Angel Gutierrez and husband, Matthew; grandson, Issac; two granddaughters, Champagne and Shannah; and one grandparent, Rose Pena. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated this afternoon, 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Gutierrez, Ronnie Gutierrez, Matthew Jaramillo, Art Archibeque, Johnnie Ochoa, and Gilbert Gutierrez. Funeral Services for Mrs. Remelia Maria Gutierrez will be held on Friday at the St. Anne Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Gutierrez will be held on Thursday in the mortuary chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 3rd St. SW.

Barbara Huelsmann, beloved wife and mother, born in Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1921, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away on June 7, 1999. She is survived by her sons, David, Donald and Dale Huelsman; daughters, Diana Beron and Deborah Hollington; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Barbara graduated from Washington University School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in St. Louis, Missouri in 1942. She worked for several years at B.C.M.C. Hospital, taught at the Technical Vocational Institute and retired from Blue Cross-Blue Shield as a Quality Assurance Manager. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Huelsman, M.D., who passed away on May 19, 1989. Funeral services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 1818 Coal Place SE, on Friday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to the Barrett House (a home for the homeless P.O. Box 30843, Albuquerque, NM 87190; 246-9244), where she volunteered her time and efforts, or to the Alzheimer's Association, (1330 San Pedro NE, Suite 205, Albuquerque, NM 87110; 266-4473). Robert Keith Jansma, Jr., of Aurora, Colorado, unexpectedly passed away at age 44 on June 6, 1999. He resided in Albuquerque before his move to Colorado 20 years ago, and he graduated from Del Norte High School in 1973. Robert had a big heart and was a good neighbor and hard worker. He was an exceptional father who cherished a very close relationship with his son. For those of us who remain, there are regrets; for the dead, life is completed, and there can now be peace. "When one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language" -- John Donne. Robert is survived by his son, Bobby (Robert Keith Jansma III), now residing in Sandia Park; his parents, Robert and Lois Jansma; and his sisters and their families, Maureen, Noel, and Stacy Rozelle; Roxana Jansma and Richard Stacey, all of Albuquerque; and Rita, Morey, Ryan, and David Liebling of Sandia Park. Services will be held at 2:00 Friday, June 11, at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque.

Lila Faye King, 83, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Private family services at the King Family Ranch in New Mexico will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. King was born in Boise City, OK and graduated from high school in 1935. She worked in the county clerks office. She and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1942 and remained there for 56 years before moving to Amarillo in 1997. They owned and operated Mesa Tractor Co. for many years. Mrs. King was an active member of the National Old Time Fiddlers Assoc. She was a member of Unity Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for 20 years. She married Ralph King on April 5, 1936 at Boise City, OK. She is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Esther Barnett of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Kary Barnett and Kay Medford; and five great-granddaughters. The family suggests memorials to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001.

Vince Lodin, age 86, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Los Lunas, NM; daughter, Ginger Kloppenberg and husband, Ken of Littleton, CO; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lodin of Albuquerque; brothers, Joseph Lodin of Albuquerque, John Lodin and wife, Virginia of California; grandchildren, Jerry Kloppenberg and wife, Tiffany and Craig Kloppenberg and wife, Tia; great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Corbin Kloppenberg. Mr. Lodin was a member of the New Mexico Livestock Association. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary with Larry Pierson officiating. Robert Lawrence Majeskie, age 73, passed away on June 6, 1999. He was born to Lawrence and Mary Majeskie on November 29, 1925 in Brookfield, WI. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Bette); children, Debbie Sullivan and husband, Tim, Marlane Barton and husband, Roger, Ricky Majeskie, Denise McDonald, Nadine Trimborn and husband, Mike, Gerard Majeskie and wife, Carolyn, Peggy Schofield and husband, Ernie, Melissa Stephens and husband, Theo; brothers, William Majeskie and wife, Jeanie, George Majeskie and wife, Shirley; sisters, Germaine Miner and husband, Harley, Delores Kissinger and husband, John, Mary Agnes Hoffman, Rose Marie Traver and husband, Hank and Sister St. Michael Majeskie (Izzie); grandchildren, Scot, Ryan, Daniel, Stephanie, Brian, Katie, Kelly, Angela, Jeremy, Kayla and Kelli Anne. He was preceded in death by brothers, Jerome and Larry Jr. Majeskie and sisters, Patricia Houk and Mildred Marie Seeger (Peetie). Mr. Majeskie was a Rio Rancho resident since 1977, moving from Waukesha, WI. Before retiring, Mr. Majeskie was employed as a concrete mason. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, The Rio Rancho Elks Lodge, and Rio Rancho Country Club. Mr. Majeskie was awarded Elk of the Year. He was a very avid golfer, loving husband, father and grandfather. Visitation will be Thursday, June 10, 1999, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, June 11, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with The Reverend Pieroni as Celebrant. Pallbearers are Rick Majeskie, Gerard Majeskie, Ernie Schofield, Theo Stephans, Roger Barton. Arrangements under the care of Rio Rancho Funeral Home, 2400 Southern Blvd., 891-9192.

Leslie C. Major
1914-1999
Leslie C. Major, 84, a resident of Placitas, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 1999. Leslie was a resident of Placitas for the past 25 years and was secretary of the Board of the Ranchos De Placitas Sanitation Department for 20 years. She was a member of the Garden Club and also served as secretary for the Placitas Artist Series. She had a great love for gardening and for life. Mr. Major was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Stanley T. Major; her brother, Thomas A. Carruth; and a sister, Julia Rae Lord. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Sartor, Nancy Day, and June Robbins; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on June 12, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jane Harms officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Las Placitas Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden Fund, in memory of Leslie Major. John S. Matthews, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 67 years, passed away Monday, June 7, 1999 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Muriel Thelin Matthews of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque; daughters, Linda Strong and husband, David Brighton of Santa Fe and Leone Matthews and husband, Stephen Jones of Placitas; son, Jack S. Stamm of Santa Fe; grandsons, Lars Strong of Santa Fe and Charlie Jones of Placitas; granddaughter, Kare Strong of Tucson, AZ, Alexis Jones and Hayley Jones, both of Placitas; great-granddaughters, Lily and Rhea Strong of Santa Fe; nieces, Dorothy Beebe and Dr. Kate Matthews-Ha, both of Forrestville, CA, and Carol Bonda and husband, Ray of Albuquerque; nephew, Richard Thelin of Albuquerque; and cousin, Shirley Kemper and husband, Jack of Albuquerque. Mr. Matthews graduated from the University of New Mexico and attended Harvard in conjunction with his service as Communications Officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Matthews was the founder and President of Security Federal Savings & Loan, retiring in 1980. He was also involved with the Nature Conservancy. Mr. Matthews loved ranch life and raised registered Black Angus cattle in Bernalillo and Abiquiu as an avocation. Services will be held Thursday, 4:00 p.m., at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 4th Street at Silver SW, with The Very Rev. John B. Haverland, Dean Emeritus, officiating. A reception will follow. Entombment will take place, Friday, June 11, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Elizabeth "Liz" McMann, 46, a resident of Grants, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999. She is survived by her husband, James McMann of Grants; sisters, Connie Shutts and husband, Doug of Oklahoma, OK and Linda Brandon and husband, Sonny of Seven Springs, NM; mother, Olive Robinson of Albuquerque; great-aunt and godmother, Angie McCracken of Cuba, NM; son, Kenneth L. McMann and wife, Debra of Denver, CO; and daughter, Julie Carr and husband, Toby of Golden, CO. She was preceded in death by her father, Murray Robinson. Cremation has taken place. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Preston Roberts Sr., 89, a longtime resident of Los Lunas, passed away in the early morning hours of June 6th. He is survived by his brother, John Roberts and sons; children, Ronald Roberts and wife, Carolyn, Preslene Lewallen and husband, Spencer, Kardie Wherley, Preston Roberts Jr. and wife, Julie, and Tara Roberts; grandchildren, Crystal Blea, Kristy and Kelley Lewallen and Brian Soloman. Preston was born on the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma in 1907 and grew up on the family cotton farm. During World War II he worked as a foreman for Douglas Aircraft. Mr. Roberts and his wife, Jeanne moved to New Mexico in 1952. For more than 30 years he and his sons operated Roberts Conoco and Feed Store near Los Lunas. Mr. Roberts was known for helping stranded families get their cars repaired or fueled. He would take them to local restaurants with orders to make sure they had all they wanted to eat. He was also generous at extending credit to local families. He was rarely disappointed. Mr. Roberts was always physically active and loved raising registered Appaloosa and Paint horses, enlisting his daughters to assist with various chores on their horse farm. In his retirement, Mr. Roberts enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th.

Tito J. Sandoval, 64, a resident of Jemez Springs for the past five years, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at the Veterans Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Tito was born January 24, 1935 the son of Lucio and Corina Ruiz Sandoval in Ponderosa, New Mexico. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War, on returning to New Mexico he moved to Albuquerque to work. In the early 1970's he owned and operated two businesses, Sandoval Trucking and A & T Truss Co. until 1986. He moved to Jemez Springs where he resided until his death. Tito was preceded in death by his son, Danny Lee Sandoval. He is survived by his children, Albertilla (Bert) Romero and husband, Ronald of Albuquerque, Dianna (Donna) Sandoval and friend, Roland Romero of Albuquerque, Phyllis Jaramillo and husband, Steve of Jemez Springs, and Frank Sandoval of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Adrian and Aaron Romero, Adam and James Sandoval, Tiffany Jaramillo, Jessica and Clarice Romero; one brother, Ulysses Sandoval of Maine; two sisters, Viola Garcia of San Ysidro and Marcia Brown of Albuquerque. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. The Visitation for Tito will be today, Thursday, June 10, 1999 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 11, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be, Adrian Romero, Adam Sandoval, Aaron Romero, James Sandoval, Franklin Mirabal, and James Garcia. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho.

Diana B. Schellenberg (Mrs. Richard Eisenhour) passed away on the morning of June 7, 1999. Diana was born May 22, 1934 in Belleville, Kansas. She spent most of her early life in numerous small towns in Kansas, following the career of her mother, the Reverend Retha Sadler, one of the first women ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church. Diana was known throughout her life for her intelligence, kindness, humor and generosity. Her contributions to the medical field have improved the lives of people throughout the world, and anytime she would sing or play the dulcimer, it was appreciated by all who could hear. Diana received a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Baker University in Baldwin, KS in 1955, and an MA in Anatomy from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS in 1957. She spent 25 years of her career as a Scientific Writer and Project Manager in the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Division of the Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo. As part of her research, she managed clinical trials and approval process for the drugs Motrin and Depo-Provera for Upjohn. After retiring from Upjohn, Diana served as Professional Research Assistant in the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, School of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, also earning an MS in Industrial Hygiene from Purdue. Diana was the author of numerous scientific publications. She recently entered a third phase of her working life, and completed a yet-to-be published novel. Diana was an active member of Unitarian Universalist congregations in Michigan and Indiana. Since moving to Albuquerque in 1997, Diana was active in the West Side Universalist Congregation, where she contributed to the creation of services and the growth of the community. Diana is remembered by her friends and family as a loving wife and mother, a devoted daughter, and loyal friend. She was especially known for her unlimited compassion for people and animals. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Diana is survived by her husband, Richard N. Eisenhour of Albuquerque; sons, Robert L. Schellenberg of Kalamazoo, MI and Dr. Franklin M. Schellenberg of Palo Alto, CA; mother, Reverend Retha L. Sadler of Phoenix, AZ; and brother, Robert Sadler of Grand Rapids, MI. The memorial service for Diana Schellenberg will be held on Friday, June 11, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque. It was Diana's wish to be an organ donor and she would encourage her friends to do the same. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho.

Rose M. Stephani, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Sunday, June 6, 1999. She is survived by her brothers, Dr. Joseph Pecoraro and wife, Georgia of Aztec, NM, Andrew Pecoraro and wife, Mary of Gallup, Sam Pecoraro of Albuquerque, John Pecoraro and wife, Betty of Farmington; sisters, Jennie Rado of Durango, CO, and Sadie Maddalozzo and husband, John of Farmington; sister-in-law, Emma Pecoraro; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Stephani; her parents, Michael and Catherine Pecoraro; brother, Frank Pecoraro; and a sister, Frances Pecoraro. Mrs. Stephani was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, June 11, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas & Tennessee NE, with Father Michael Cimino, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society, c/o Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Pl. NE 87108. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Elizabeth Szoke, born to Simon Szoke and Martha Vargas on June 27, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. Long a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, she is survived by her daughter, Pamela Yates; her granddaughter, Stacey Yates and grandson, Zachary Yates. Her family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness and support shown by Betty's circle of friends. Betty was an administrator in charge of counseling and training counselors for the Detroit, Michigan Public Schools. Previously she was counselor at Coffey Middle School. She volunteered at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center for the last 15 years. In lieu of flowers a guest donation may be made in her name c/o Pat Reck, IPCC, 2401 12th St NW, Albuq, N.M. 87104. A Memorial Service will be held at IPCC at the same address in the theater on Saturday, June 12, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. A photograph of Betty will be available to order at the service.

Teodorita M. Zemke, 76, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Visitations will be this evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Stover, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Xavier Church. Interment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Funeral services are under the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., S.W.
