Eden Arnold Raney, born April 8, 1917 and Myrta Cooley Raney, born August 13, 1926, died Monday, June 2, 2003. They are survived by their six sons; two daughters; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and Myrta's twin sister. They will be loved eternally. Services will be held Friday, June 6, 2003, at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Academy Heights Ward, 1100 Montano Rd. NW. Eduardo (Pat) Romero, 73, died at home, peacefully in his sleep early on Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in the loving arms of his daughter Gerri McCallister and niece Louise Sanchez. His memory will be left with his wife Maria (Ernie) Romero and his children, Gerri McCallister and her husband Chris, of Albuquerque; Patty Vendzules and her husband, Michael of Omaha, Nebraska and Ed Romero and his wife, Maria of Dallas, Texas. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Jason Vendzules of New York City, Kellie McCallister of Dallas, Texas, Christopher McCallister of Santa Barbara, California, Julia Vendzules of San Francisco, California and Chris Romero of Dallas, Texas. Pat grew up in Lyden, New Mexico, the first of nine children of Abenicio Romero and Raquel Romero. He is survived by his siblings Jose (Gilbert) Romero-Santa Fe; Victor Romero and wife Barbara-Rio Rancho; Erlinda Montoya and husband, Johnny-Espanola; Versave Thorn and husband, Wayne-Santa Fe; Bertha Sanchez and husband, Ben-Chamita; Lucille Harris and husband, Roy-Raton and Lourdes Maloney and husband, George-San Francisco, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Pat is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Tobias and Bersabe Romero; his parents; and his brother, Delio. Pat joined the Air Force in 1947. In 1952, he married his sweetheart Ernie Romero, to whom he was married 50 years. He served in both the Korean and Viet Nam wars. While serving in Viet Nam he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for valor. During his Air Force career, Pat's additional assignments included tours of duty in Japan, Washington, DC, Alaska and North Dakota and he retired from the military in 1969 with 22 years of meritorious service. Not one to be idle, Pat worked with the University of New Mexico and then with the Department of Finance and Administration, Local Government Division, State of New Mexico as a budget analyst. He retired again with 21 years of service to the state. Pat was an also avid member of the Knights of Columbus during his retirement. Pat never met a stranger. He was known to be a gentle father and mentor to his children, always stressing the value of education to enrich their lives. He took enormous pride in that all three of his children were college graduates. He continued to influence his grandchildren and is credited with the four oldest grandchildren completing college degrees as well. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Pat's memory to: Glaucoma Research Foundation at 800-826-6693. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. on Friday, June 6, 2003. A Funeral Mass celebrating Pat's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 3511 Phoenix Avenue, NE on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Isauro L. Salazar "Louie", age 79, was born November 26, 1924. A resident of Albuquerque, NM., he passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2003. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; two sons; and three grandsons. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carmen; his seven sons; six daughters; 40 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five sisters; one brother; and numerous nephews, nieces, and other family and friends who loved and will greatly miss him. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2003. Neva Cook Sullivan, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 03, 2003 at her home in Belen, NM after an illness. She was born August 10, 1926 in Big Spring, TX. She became a Belen resident in 1971, when she and her late husband, Gerald L. Cook bought Society Cleaners. Mrs. Cook Sullivan was well liked in the community and always stopped to talk to people she didn't even know. She is survived by her sisters, Shirley and her husband, Richard Bailey of Socorro, NM; Ruby and her husband, John Duletsky of Reston, VA; and Luwilda and her husband, Bill Fletcher of Olathe, CO; her daughters, Jo and her husband, Roger Woodruff of Belen; Sue Cook of Belen; and Rayetta and her husband, Newton Martin of Sweeny, TX; her son, G. Robert and his wife, Charlene Cook of Rio Rancho, NM; and her beloved grandsons, Adam Woodruff and his wife, Evelyn of Ft. Collins, CO; Jason Woodruff of Rio Rancho; Timothy Martin of Huntsville, TX; Raymond Cook of Farmington, NM; Richard Martin of Sweeny, TX; and Gerald Cook of Farmington; She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Megan Woodruff of Santa Fe. LUIS EDUARDO MUņOZ-VARGAS, 31, of Espaņola and formerly of Mexico died unexpectedly on Saturday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Socorro Muņoz and Flavia Vargas. He is survived by his children, Connie, Katia and Eduardo Muņoz all of Mexico; brothers and sisters, Rafael Muņoz and wife Socorro of Santa Fe, Rosa Muņoz and husband Ramiro of Mexico, Jose Muņoz and wife Librada Barela of Alcalde, Ymelda Muņoz and husband Jesus Roncillo of Espaņola, Martha Muņoz and husband Jesus Chavez, Jose Muņoz and wife Adriana Garcia, and Blanca Muņoz and husband Armando Aguilar all of Mexico, and Minerva Muņoz and husband Luis Mendoza of Espaņola; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Caņada with interment to follow at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Espaņola. JUAN JESUS ROMERO JR. died Sunday at home. He was born June 17, 1915, in Mora, to Juan J. Romero Sr. and Antonita Trujillo Romero. He moved to Santa Fe and graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1934. He married Maria Manulita Herrera at Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel in San Juan Pueblo in 1940. He served in the Navy during World War II and later was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until retirement in 1974. He was an active member of the St. Michael's High School Alumni Association, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, National Association of Letter Carriers and the Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Estevan; three sisters, Sr. Rita Marie, Alicia McCredie, Margarita Spangler, and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Lita; three sons, Miguel (Irma) of Santa Fe, John (Terri) of Olympia, Wash., and Martin (Marie) of Waunakee, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Joyce) of Lodi, Calif., and J.F. Pancho (Ruth) of Santa Fe; sister, Marie Lowry of Miami; and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Rosa Carrillo, 33, and her ten month old son Allen both residents of Albuquerque passed away on May 30, 1999 as a result of a car accident. Mrs. Carrillo is survived by her beloved husband, Hector; sons, Hector Carrillo Jr. and Christian Carrillo; her mother, Claudia Gamez; one brother, Humberto Felix; four sisters, Teresa, Isabel, Maria and Anglica; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Allen is survived by his father, Hector; his brothers, Hector Carrillo Jr., and Christian Carrillo; his grandmother, Claudia Gamez; an uncle, Humberto Felix; four aunts, Teresa, Isabel, Maria and Angelica and many other relatives, cousins and friends. A rosary will be recited Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway S.E. with mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Father Alberti, Celebrant of the Mass. Robert Patrick, a resident of Albuquerque since 1942, died from complications following a stroke on Sunday, May 30, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque with his family at his side. He was the son of Hugh Conway and Minnie Bell Ellis Conway of Clyde, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife, Nelle Conway, of the family home; five daughters and one son. His wife of 52 years, Helen Marie Smelich Conway, died in 1991 at the age of 80. A son, Captain Harold Joseph Conway, was killed in a plane crash in 1976 at the age of 27. Present family members include Patricia and William Barron of Honolulu, Flo Conway and Jim Siegelman of New York City, Bob Conway, Jr., his wife, Virginia and their children, Christine and Vincent of Albuquerque, Kathleen "Kacey" Conway and Patrick Green of Grand Junction, Colorado, Loretta Conway and John Mitchell, M.D. of Zionsville, PA, and Helen "Holly" Conway of Charlottesville, VA. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday evening June 2, 1999 and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona, SE. "Bob" Conway was a pioneering figure in the New Mexico insurance industry and in professional and charitable activities statewide and nationally. He was born October 26, 1914 on the family farm in southern Wisconsin, graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1932 and attended teacher's training school. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression years of 1933-34 and after leaving the CCC taught all eight grades in the country school he had attended as a child. In 1936, he moved to Arizona and worked for the Phelps Dodge Corporation in Ajo. In 1938, he was appointed a part-time agent for the State Farm Insurance Companies in Ajo and met Helen Smelich, a Registered Nurse from Pueblo, Colorado. He and Helen were married in 1939. In 1942, State Farm invited him to come to Albuquerque to develop the companys operations in northern New Mexico. The Conway Agency grew to 33 agents and in 1973, became the top producing district in the nationwide State Farm organization. The New Mexico Room at the American College of Life Underwriters in Bryn Mawr, PA is dedicated in his name. Bob was involved in fund raising for almost 60 years. He served as chairman for Catholic Charities in Albuquerque and headed the fund raising campaigns for the building of the Heights Catholic grade school and Pius X High School. In the 1950s and 1960s, his principal volunteer activity was the March of Dimes State Chairman. He was a founder of the New Mexico Independent College Association. He was active in the Serra Club for more than 40 years and served two terms as its President. He was a 40 Year Monarch of the Lions Club and in 1995 was named a Melvin Jones Fellow of the Lions Club International Foundation. With his wife, Helen, he founded the New Mexico Medic Alert Chapter. He was a member of the Republican Party and served as political action chairman for the state association. He was a long standing member of the Albuquerque Toastmasters Club and the Albuquerque Better Business Bureau. In 1974, he founded Conway Enterprises, a real estate development and management company. Since retiring from State Farm in 1984, he served as the Public Member of the New Mexico Board of Optometry and on the Governor's Distinguished Service Public Service Awards Committee. He was a founder and president of the NM Roadrunner Chapter of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni. He was a life member of the BPOE, The Knights of Columbus and The Knights of St. Gregory. In August, 1992, he married Nelle McElravy, of Cherry Hills, Colorado. Bob loved New Mexico from the day he set foot on its soil. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all who knew him. Beryl Cook, 92, born on June 9, 1906, passed away on Friday, May 28, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM. Beryl is survived by two sons, Lee and wife, Dee; two stepchildren, Greg and Doug of Sioux Falls, SD, David and wife, Maureen; three grandchildren, Mike and wife, Julie, Steven, Theresa Chamas and husband, Gus; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ian, Dylan Cook, Christine and Kyle Chamas all of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. Beryl was preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan in 1961. She married Arthur Wilkins in 1988, he also preceded her in death in 1989. She is survived by two stepchildren from that marriage, Lee Reider of Long Beach, CA and Artie Wilkins of Las Vegas, NV. Beryl was fondly known by her many friends in Albuquerque as "Granny Goose ". She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Memorial service will be Thursday, June 3, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio NE with Pastor Edwin Shepperson officiating. The family will have a second Memorial service, at a later date, in Wallingford, Iowa.

Luis Garcia, 16, a lifelong resident of Tijeras died Sunday, May 30, 1999. He is survived by his parents, Rey and Viola Garcia; brother, Rey Garcia, Jr.; sister, Karen Garcia; niece, Marissa Garcia; grandparents, Bella Garcia and Pablo and Irene Garcia, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Luis was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ermenio Garcia. He was very active at Manzano High School and a member of the Manzano Soccer Team and the Zia Sting Soccer Team. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, at Holy Child Catholic Church, 10:00 a.m. with Fr. John Carney, Celebrant. Interment to follow at San Antonio Cemetery in Tijeras. Nancy Garcia, 59, of Hemet, CA formerly of Albuquerque died Friday, May 28, 1999. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Antonia Apodaca and Maria Gurule; and brothers, David and Lucas Garcia. Nancy is survived by her daughters, Pauline Bates, Lori Maez and Nadine Maez; sons, Jerry Marquez and David Maez; sisters, Gloria Yola Gomez and husband, John, Veronica Ronnie Sedillo and husband, Aurelio Jr., and Frieda Garcia and mate, Clyde Trujillo; brothers, Carlos Garcia and wife, Alice and Johnny B. Laurel Hope Hall, 88, born on a homestead near Torreon in the Manzano Mtns, NM, on May 10, 1911, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 1999, Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Robert J. Hall. She is survived by her daughter, Genevieve Fisher and husband, Bill; her son, James D. Hall and wife, Dorothy; her sister, Edna Jane Grimm; granddaughters, Genia L. Muniz, Deborah L. Hall, Rebecca Sue Hall, Wendy Anne Fickers and husband, David, all of Albuquerque, and Julia Jane Harmon and husband, Jon of Manhattan Beach, CA, Kathryn Bisson and husband, Jim of Littleton, CO; grandsons, Glenn B. Smith and wife, Lorraine of Bernalillo, NM and Dirk N. Smith of Manchester, CT; and 15 great-grandchildren. She spent part of her young life on Los Ranchos de Los Goldrinas, at the ELKS Lodge in the Pecos, in Santa Fe and attended Albuquerque High School and the Western School for Private Secretaries. She loved fishing, baking, dancing, sewing, hat-making, gardening, the Lord and her family. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and was a Deacon at the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. She was currently a member of Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church. She and Robert enjoyed living in the Jemez Mountains for 25 years after he retired from the Albuquerque National Bank. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her loving ways and as the best pie maker in the West! A memorial service will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church (1801 Montano Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107) on Friday, June 4, 1999, at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Shepherd of the Valley or the Jemez Springs Community Presbyterian Church, PO Box 97, Jemez Springs, NM 87025. Janice Marine Huff, 48, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 20 years, passed away on Monday, May 31, 1999. Janice was born January 14, 1951 the daughter of James and Shirley Bassett in Boise, Idaho. Janice is survived by three children, Dawn Ben Ezra of Albuquerque, Jennette Huff and Jason Sanchotana of Boise, ID; seven brothers and sisters, Donna, Jimmy, Lavonne, June, Stan, David and Leah, and three grandchildren. The Service for Janice will be on Friday, June 4, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Matthew Scott Nelson Hunt, age 17, born June 12, 1981 in Albuquerque, died tragically on Saturday, May 29, 1999. He attended John Baker Elementary School, Hoover and Emanuel Lutheran Middle Schools and Eldorado High School, graduating on May 20, 1999. Matthew was going to be a freshman at the University of New Mexico in the fall. He had been active in AYSO and Duke City Soccer, Roadrunner Little League USTA Junior Tennis and Eldorado Varsity Tennis. Since a serious injury in January 1999, Matthew had taken up wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis. Matthew loved life, his family and friends. He was laid-back, outgoing, always happy and had an unbelievable fighting spirit which manifested itself over the first half of this year, when he endured numerous operations and constant pain, yet still smiled and talked of helping other paraplegics in the future. "MATT MATT," as he was affectionately known, will always be in the thoughts, prayers and memories of his parents, Mary and Ken Hunt; sisters, Heather and Julie; grandparents, Al and Jeanne Hunt; several dozen uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews; and countless friends and acquaintances whose lives he has touched. Randy, belove son, loved brother, cherished friend, treasured husband, and adored father was born March 15, 1956 in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended North Texas State on a full music scholarship and continued to entertain others with his love of music. Justin, dear, sweet and treasured son and grandson, nephew and cousin was born April 11, 1986 to Randy and Glenda Leverick in Dallas, Texas. He graduated 6th grade at Mckenzie Elementary on Thursday, May 27, 1999. Family of Randy and Justin include dearest wife and mother, Glenda Leverick, Alfred and Birdene Leverick, Bobby and Billie Lennox, Ric Leverick, Carol Watson, Jennifer Netherland, Alan Lennox, Doug Lennox and numerous family and friends. Mrs. Abelina M. Lopez, 87, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 31, 1999. Mrs. Lopez is the beloved mother to one daughter, Edith Slack; seven sons, Arthur D. Lopez and wife, Raquel, Larry S. Antonio Luna, 84, passed away Saturday, May 29, 1999 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born October 18, 1914 to Luciano and Margarita Sanchez Luna in Polvadera, NM. A devoted educator, Mr. Luna retired in 1975 after 35 years as a teacher and principal in the Socorro Consolidated School System. He also served as a volunteer and on the boards of many local organizations. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Emilia Chavez Luna of their home in Polvadera; son, Ernesto Luna and wife, Mary of Albuquerque; daughter, Patricia Luna of Albuquerque; sisters, Viola Luna of El Paso, TX, Ernestine Henderson of San Diego, CA, and Terry Robinson of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Catherine Luna and numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro, NM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Flavio Santillanes as Celebrant. Internment will be in the Polvadera Cemetery. John C. Rogers, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 29 years, passed away on Friday, May 28, 1999. John was born December 2, 1915 the son of George and Lennea Wennertrom Rogers in Brooklyn, New York. He worked for Trans World Airlines for 34 and a half years before retiring. John served in the US Army during WW II, was a member of the American Legion, the Rio Rancho Kiwanis Club and the All Saints Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Gerda of Rio Rancho; son, George Rogers of Albuquerque; one sister, Elsie Schulz of Lantana, FL; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Memorial Service for John will be held on Friday, June 4, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Lutheran Church with The Rev. Tim Thies officiating. Armando James Romero, 34, passed away Saturday, May 29, 1999 in Sierra Co., NM. He was born July 15, 1964 to Louis and Lucy Esquibel Romero in Las Vegas, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary E. Esquibel. He is survived by his wife, Teresa M. (Gutierrez) Romero of their home in Lemitar, NM; daughters, Kasey J. Romero and Monique A. Romero, both of Lemitar, NM and Felisha Romer of Montrose, CO; brothers, Roy and wife, Linda, Rocky and wife, Wilma and Ray and wife, Renee, all of Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Yolanda Najeral and husband, Orlando of Rio Rancho, NM, Carol Romero of Albuquerque and Geraldine Carlile and husband, Geno of Edgewood, NM; brother-in-law, Frank Gutierrez; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited Tuesday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lemitar Catholic Church in Lemitar, NM. Manuel Eloy Roybal, a Tome resident since 1975, died quietly at home on May 30, 1999. Manuel was born in Pecos, NM on December 6, 1936. He served twenty-years in the United States Air Force and retired to farm in the Tome area. He was preceded in death by his parents. Eloisa Leal Roybal and Manuel Roybal. Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Virginia of 20 years and his daughter, Eve Anne. He is also survived by his children of a previous marriage, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren. Eloisa Saiz, 73, beloved and devoted mother and grandmother passed away Sunday, May 30, 1999 in the arms of her loving Family, following a valiant battle with cancer. Mrs. Saiz was a member of the Armijo Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward of 37 years; a son, Michael; grandson, Ronnie; one brother, Gil; sisters, Celstina Rafaela and Pabla. She is survived by four sons, Eddie Saiz and wife, Valerie of Glide, OR, Arthur Saiz and wife, Linda of Albuquerque, Freddie Saiz of Albuquerque, Ambrosio Saiz and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; two daughters, Frances Martinez and husband, Lee, Belinda Perea and husband, Clovis both of Albuquerque. Also surviving are her dearly loved grandchildren, Loren Black, Brian Vallejos, Lisa Vallejos, Adam Martinez, Christa Saiz, Jennifer Saiz, Antoinette Timitz Saiz, Breana Saiz, Clovis Perea, James Perea, Ronnie E. Saiz, Edward Saiz, and Rebekah Saiz; great-grandchildren surviving Mrs. Saiz are Monica Black, Lauren Black, and Aaron James Jr. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Mario S. Sanchez, 48, formerly of Tome and now residing in Antonito, CO, passed away on May 28, 1999. Mario was a practicing Christian who loved the Lord. He touched the lives of all who knew him. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all. Mario served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also very instrumental in the development of several major land developments in New Mexico and South Colorado. Mario was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto in 1993. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Eva; his four children, Zephorah-13, Ivana-11, Aaron-8, and Colorado "C.J. "-6; his mother, Cipriana of Adelino, NM; his brothers and sisters, Lorenzo and his wife, Jeannie; Tomas, Charlie and his wife, Theresa; James and his wife, Joani; Martha, David, Raymond, Alice, Frances, Allen, and Karen June and her husband, Richard Huntley. Mario is also survived by his many loving Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews; Mario is also survived by his mother-in-law, Esther Hazlett and her children, Peggy and her husband, Bob Jordan, Carol and her husband, Leslie Rhodes, Steve and his wife, Ricki Whitley, Emma and her husband, Kevin Bodley, Ernie and his wife, Darlene Hazlett, Suzie and her husband, Richard Labbe. Rick H. Van Patten, 42, a resident of Rio Rancho for 18 years, formerly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away after a long illness on Monday, May 24, 1999. Rick had worked for the NAPA company for ten years before his passing. He was preceded in death by his dear father, Jack F. Van Patten. Rick is survived by his beloved life partner, Cheryl Nichols, he was the beloved son of Lonny (Bob) Klapperick of Rio Rancho, dear little brother of Jack (Linda) Van Patten of Milwaukee, WI, and Lauren Van Patten of Rio Rancho. Loving nephew of Phyllis Nehls of Theinsville, WI; special uncle of Kristen Van Patten of Milwaukee, WI, and Melinda Hudder of Windsor, CO; and two great-nieces and many other relatives and friends. Glen D. Wells, age 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Monday in a local hospital. He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances, November 13, 1982.
