Church service for Lela Wieland, (age) 87, of Earth, Texas, are scheduled 4:30 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 1999 at First Baptist Church, Earth, Texas with Rev. Bobby Broyles, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Claunch Cemetery, 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 1999, Claunch, NM. Mrs. Wieland died January 19, 1999 at Littlefield Hospitality House, Littlefield, Texas. She was born June 10, 1911 in Childress, Texas. She married Leon "Dutch" Winfred Wieland in Lubbock, Texas on February 20, 1935. Mr. Wieland died February 27, 1983. Lela had lived in Earth since 1992, moving from Albuquerque. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Earth, TX. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, William Kay Wieland of Albuquerque, Billie Wayne Wieland of Spring, TX; one daughter, Robbie Parish of Earth, TX; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Virginia Lee Birchfield Acton, 69, former resident of Albuquerque, died January 17, 2000, in American Fork, Utah. She was born February 20, 1930 in Lafayette, Indiana, to Paul Ambrose and Clois Ruby Speer Birchfield. She married Russell Urban Acton December 31, 1950 and their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple March 14, 1964. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in Ward and Stake Relief Society Presidencies, as a Ward Organist, and as a Director and Chorister for many Ward and Stake choirs. She enjoyed music, needlepoint, traveling, genealogy work, and being with her family. She is survived by her husband, Russell of American Fork; their children, Beverly (Bruce) O'Dell, American Fork, Brian (Penny) Acton, Gregory M. (Leah) Acton, both of Albuquerque, R. Scott (Cheryl) Acton, West Jordan, UT, Allison L. (Todd) Wilson, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Robert W. (Irene) Birchfield, Woodstock, IL; and a sister-in-law, Wilma J. Acton, Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Hope Virginia. Funeral services will be Friday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 15th LDS Ward, 455 East 300 North. Friends may call at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday at the Church one hour prior to services. Grace Marie Harriet Bruton, 70, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was born February 5, 1929 in Magdalena, NM, to Michael and Frances (Garro) Harriet who were pioneer ranchers in the area. She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Tessa Lee Bruton; and grandson, Ryan Threet. She is survived by her husband, Jack B. Bruton of their home in Datil, NM; son, Jack W. Bruton and wife, Bonnie of Datil; daughters, Doreen Threet and husband, William of Jonesboro, AR and Sharon Bruton of Belen; grandchildren, Beau, Broc and Brett Bruton, Ty and Cory Wade, Shanna and Russell Threet and Josh Markland; great-grandchildren, Aspen and Sienna Bruton and Wesley and Ryan Wade; brother, Michel Harriet Jr. and wife of Datil; sisters, Marianne Porter and husband, Al of Socorro and Alice Duquet and husband, Bob of Socorro; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited Friday, January 21, 7:00 p.m., at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 22, 9:00 a.m., at San Miguel with Father William E. Our Angel, Jean Louise Christian, 73, 02/19/27 to 01/19/2000, went home to be with Jesus, after a courageous lifelong battle with asthma and emphysema. Jean passed away at home surrounded by members of her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald E. Christian. She is also survived by her nine children, Marcia Goettemoeller and husband, Roger, Mark Christian and wife, Sharon, Gail Kraenzel and husband, John, Donna Chee and husband, Richard, Matthew Christian and wife, Patsy, Anne Blythe and husband, Lee, Kelly Crollett and husband, Garry, Luke Christian and wife, Jeanette, Lori Zubia and husband, Mario. Jean also leaves her grandchildren, Audra Bernhold, Kenneth and Amber Goettemoeller, Andy Christian, Candi Shinaberry, Robbie Slocum, Katie Gonzales, Jon Chee, Caleb and Eric Kraenzel, Melissa, Joshua and Justin Christian, Shannon, Richard, Robert, Douglas, Jean, Victoria, Jacob Blythe, and Jordon Crollett; and five great-grandchildren. Jean left behind many friends, especially her best friend, Dolores Erickson and her "second best friend" her dog, Brandy. Service will be on Saturday, January 22, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Chapel, 7500 Paseo del Norte NE, with Rev. Kay Gardner Pyle officiating. Interment will follow. Tara Lynette Christy, 37, a lifetime resident of Tijeras, passed away January 18, 2000 in her home. She was born to Charles Shilling and Sandra Lee (Walton) May 24, 1962 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her father, Charles Shilling and wife, Bertie of Duncan, OK; her mother, Sandra Lee and husband, Bob of Tijeras; her husband, Charles Albert Christy Jr. of Sedillo, NM; her beautiful daughter, Tavanna Lynette Christy; step-daughter, Brittany Christy; her brother, Burt Shilling and Suzi Bowles of Edgewood; her step-brothers, Roger Lee and Bert Lee; her sister, Vanessa Pacheco of Tahlequah, OK; her step-sisters, Teressa Stephens, Vickie McCauley; her grandmothers, Eda Mae Davis of Albuquerque and Mary E. Shilling of Marlow, OK; her nephews, Richard, David and James Pacheco; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a world of friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Christy, who passed away May 9, 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tijeras and had attended the San Isidro Catholic Church in Sedillo, NM. Tara was a spiritual person and always enjoyed every moment that life had to offer. She made lifelong friends and made lasting impressions on all those that came into her life. Tara always saw the good and love in everyone she met. She loved whole heartily, and could see no fault. She took life slowly and took the time to smell the roses. Michael A. Cody, Col., US Army, Ret., 66, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, January 19, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gretchen R. Cody of Albuquerque; daughters, Michele Cody of Los Angeles, CA, Daun Allen of Alpha, NJ, Kimberly Leigh of Pietrocci and husband, Louis of Santa Fe, Doris Johnson of Flagstaff, AZ, and Angela Cody; four grandchildren; mother, Ruth M. Cody of Arizona City, AZ; and brother, William J. "Jim" Cody Jr. of Glen Ellyn, IL. Warren H. Crawford, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, died Wednesday, January 12, 2000. He is survived by his sons, Steven A. Crawford and wife, Cathy of Albuquerque, Warren K. Crawford and wife, Liz of Cedar Crest, Colin G. Crawford and wife, Donna and Chris R. Crawford and wife, Tawni, all of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Rebecca Boone, Stefanie Crawford, Kelly Crawford, Jennifer Crawford, Heather Crawford, Jake Green, Cameron Crawford, Laurel Crawford and Chandler Crawford. T. Robert Dolde, 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, January 19, 2000. He is survived by his sisters, Annie L. Dolde of Albuquerque and Lydia Dolde Upshaw of Globe, AZ; brothers, Walter J. Dolde and William H. Dolde, both of Albuquerque; nieces, Jean Jenkins, Ruth Ann Dolde and Cathy Dolde-Duggan; and nephews, Mark Upshaw, David Upshaw and Don Locke. Mr. Dolde was preceded in death by his sisters, Frieda A. Dolde, Margarete Dolde, and Marion Locke; and brother, Howard F. Dolde. He was the youngest of nine children. Mr. Dolde was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for 82 years. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Mr. Dolde worked for Sandia Base for many years, and he was well known for his love of animals. John F. Etoll, age 89, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, January 19, 2000. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah and Rachel; three sons, Michael, Christopher and Daniel; one sister, Mary Cleopha; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Etoll was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. in 1989. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2000, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Florence Kleinfeld, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 54 years, died Thursday, January 20, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Kleinfeld of Albuquerque and Ruth Evans and husband, Richard of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Randy Evans of Hong Kong, Rana Evans of Germany, David Kleinfeld of Albuquerque, Michael Kleinfeld of Tijeras, Alan Kleinfeld of Washington, DC, and Jennifer Kleinfeld of Denver, CO; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kleinfeld of Albuquerque and caring companions, Rita and Frank Anderson of Tijeras. Mrs. Kleinfeld was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kleinfeld in 1969; and son, Dr. Jerome Kleinfeld in 1973. She was a member of Congregation B'Nai Israel and a life member of the Hadassah. October 18, 1923 - January 14, 2000
Lifelong resident of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho passed away after a short illness while visiting family in San Diego. She was preceded in death by husband, Vernon. She is survived by beloved sons, Howard and Jerry Rouse of San Diego, CA; daughter, Diana Palmer and husband, Terry; two grandchildren, Kristen and Chad Palmer. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels at St. Joseph Hospital. She enjoyed fishing and traveled all over the world with her sons. In lieu of flowers, donations be made to Meals on Wheels, 8403 Constitution NE, Albuq., 87110 would be appreciated. Dorothy Wentworth Blum Miller, 84, retired teacher and widow of Wallace I. Miller, died on January 17 at her son's home after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 9, 1916 in Cleveland Heights, OH, where she received her early education and was later a longtime resident. She attended Hiram College and received a Bachelor's degree from Hillsdale College. She was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Women's Army Corps of the United States Army and was stationed at March Field, Riverside, CA, where she met her husband, Lieutenant Wallace Ira Miller of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. They were married in a military ceremony on November 3, 1943. Dorothy subsequently had a 30 year career as a kindergarten teacher in the public schools of Columbus, OH and South Euclid, OH. A longtime member of Euclid Avenue Christian Church, Dorothy was a dedicated church and committee volunteer, and an avid gardener. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Beck of Sacramento, CA; her brother, Williard Blum of Jekyll Island, GA; sons, Robert Miller of Albuquerque and Wallace Miller of East Cleveland, OH; daughters, Karen Miller-Bull of Lexington, KY and Stephanie Miller-Davis of Cleveland Heights, OH; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services will be held Saturday, January 22, 1:00 p.m., at Sombra del Monte Christian Church, 2528 Utah NE. The family suggests memorial contributions to Sombra del Monte Christian Church or The Storehouse.

Kenneth Eugene Newman, 51, passed away January 18, 2000. He was a disabled Vietnam Army Veteran. He is survived by wife, Cathi Newman; children, Betty Marie Newman, Dorothy Rose Lea Newman, Aaron Newman; mother, Rosa Lee Hutton; sisters, Charlene Fitch-Herrera, Rosemary Hutton, Frieda Hutton; brothers, Eddie Hutton, Darrel Andrews, Dale Andrews; other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Pie Town, NM at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2000, with burial to follow at Taylor Cemetery. A Funeral Mass for Jose E. Padilla, 86, of Lompoc, California, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2000, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with burial following at Lompoc Cemetery. Mr. Padilla was born March 14, 1913 in Albuquerque to Pedro and Filomena Gutierrez Padilla. A lifelong gardener, he moved to Lompoc in 1981. He died Monday, January 17, 2000 at a San Luis Obispo care facility. Survivors include his sister, Oralia P. Candelaria of Lompoc; brothers, Claude Padilla of Medford, OR and Orville F. Padilla of Albuquerque; and numerous and nephews. Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, directors.

Virginia Mae Stuck, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Sunday, January 16, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Edward O. Stuck Jr. of Albuquerque; sons, Ed Stuck III and wife, Jan of Keller, TX and Bob Eanes and wife, Lorri of San Jose, CA; daughters, Barbara Tomlin of Douglasville, TX and Carolyn Shepard and husband, John of Las Vegas, NV; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stuck graduated from the Stewart Circle School of Nursing in Richmond, VA. She worked as a nurse at Lovelace Clinic from 1950-1981 and was one of the original nurses to open Lovelace Hospital. Mrs. Stuck was a great believer in family who enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Lemuel M. Boyles officiating. Natalie O. Vytlacil, 66, a resident of Albuquerque, died in her home of natural causes, Sunday, January 16, 2000. She is survived by her nieces, Mary Vytlacil Gibson of Portland, OR and Nancy Vytlacil of San Francisco, CA; nephew, William Vytlacil of Richmond, VA; three great-nieces; and one great-nephew. Ms. Vytlacil was preceded in death by her parents, Capt. Nicholas Vytlacil U.S.N. and Helen Vytlacil. She was a graduate of Mills College. Ms. Vytlacil retired from Sandia National Labs. Robert A. Lucero, 75, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday. He was born June 7, 1924, in Chico to Tomas and Petrolina Lucero. He was a former Santa Fe resident and had lived in las Vegas since 1986. He married Erlinda Valencia on Jan. 20, 1951, in Santant, Kan. Lucero served in the U.S. Navy during world War II. He later worked with explosives in mines in Golden, Colo. He was a contractor and owned Santa Fe Concrete Contractors for 25 years. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Our lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Lucero; brothers Emilio Lucero and Esequiel Lucero; and three grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Mary Lee Toombs and fiance Bob Martinez, Anita Chavez and fiance Tino Gonzales, Stella Sandoval and husband Alvin, Eileen Sena and husband Max, and Carol Lucero; sons Joe P. Lucero and wife Angelina of Westminister, Colo., Bob Lucero and fiancee Rita Fiore, Phil Lucero and wife Rose, and Chris Lucero and wife Rhonda; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Lewis, Sally Littlejohn, Maggie De Herrera, Mickey Borrego, Mable Cline, and Nancy Tanner and husband J.L.; brothers arthur Lucero and wife Cathy, Ralph Lucero and wife Margaret, and Joe Lucero and wife Phyllis; and other relatives and friends. NIEVES ERMELINDA ORTEGA, 75, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday after an extended illness. She was born in LeDoux, on Feb. 8, 1924, to Jacob Abeyta and Bersabe Aragon Abeyta. She married Blas Rogelio Ortega on Feb. 11, 1946, in Las Vegas. She worked as a custodian at the New Mexico State Hospital. She also was a member of the Las Vegas Christian Center and the Las Vegas Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Antonio Abeyta; sisters Ruperta Ortega and Angie Pino; and a son-in-law, Gary Diltz. She is survived by her children, Candido R. Ortega and wife Theresa of Las Vegas, Isabel F. Diltz of Denver, Santiago 'Jimmy' Ortega of Lovington, Rudy G. Ortega and wife Elizabeth of Las Vegas, Norma L. Ortega of Las Vegas, Leonard M. Ortega and wife Kenna of Lubbock, Texas; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings Jacobo Abeyta and wife Lala of Cheyenne, Wyo., Leroy Abeyta and wife Lusita of LeDoux, Lucy and husband Morris of Hutchinson, Kan., Emora Manzanares of Monument, Colo., Katie Garcia of LeDoux, and Rachel Johnson and husband Neil of Denver; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Christian Center. Cremation will follow. MARIANITA NARANJO, 92, of santa Clara Pueblo died Wednesday following a short illness. She was preceded in death by sons Johnny P. Bert and Carl Naranjo. She is survived by five grandchildren, Joyce Livingston, Gloria Pine and Johnny Joy Naranjo, all of Tohatchi, and andrea Naranjo and Mary C. Naranjo, both of Santa Clara Pueblo; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at the Santa Clara Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Santa Clara Pueblo Cemetery. Block-Salazar Mortuary.

Allan John Altomari, 81, of Corrales, NM, passed away on January 19, 2001 following a valiant fight of many years with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Glenden Altomari; daughters, Antoinette and her husband, David Brown of Seattle, WA, Allana and her husband, Charles Keeler of Los Angeles, CA; three stepchildren, Andy and Kathy O'Neal of Corrales, NM, Dr. and Mrs. Larry Mason of Indianapolis, IN, and Becky O'Neal of Bloomington, IL; one sister; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Prior to moving to Albuquerque in 1989, Mr. Altomari worked with the production of rocket engines for the space program at Rocketdyne, a subsidiary of Rockwell International. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. For many years he was a volunteer at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science. Funeral services will be private and cremation has taken place. The cremated remains will be scattered over the Pacific Ocean, close to his place of birth. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that all remembrances be sent to the Foundation of the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, 1801 Mountain Road, ABQ, NM 87104.

Nora "Granny" Arellanes passed away January 18, 2001 at her home in Mc Intosh, NM. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and loved everybody. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bessie Frampton; and is survived by six sons, Bonifacio Lovato, Freddie Gonzales, Arthur Mahboub, Johnny Arellanes, Mike Segura, and Eric Segura; five daughters, Diana Hernandez, Lorraine Ruelas, Pat Lovato, Jessie Roybal, and Frances Arellanes; 36 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Moriarty, with a viewing beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2001, and the rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2001, with burial following at Moriarty City Cemetery. Barclay K. Barnett, "Barc", born May 20, 1924 an Albuquerque resident since 1954 died January 11, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Carol Barnett; a son, Luke Barnett and wife, Pam of Albuquerque; a daughter, Lee Malone and husband, Colonel Tim Malone of the U.S. Air Force currently serving in Germany; and grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Malone. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews. Barc attended Oregon State University, Notre Dame University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Through his ownership of Barnett and Co. he was a manufactures representative for commercial heating and cooling systems. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and concluded his tour of duty as a submarine crewman. Barc was a compassionate and gentle man who never said an unkind word about anyone. He was a caring and generous father and husband and he will be deeply missed by his family. He loved playing golf, racket ball, skiing and working out at the Sports and Wellness Mid Town. Barc will be memorialized at a Private Family Service. Should friends desire contributions may be made to the Rotary Charitable Foundation, P.O. Box 3807, 87190. Gertrude "Gert" Bergstrom, 86, a resident of Albuquerque off and on for the last ten years, died Friday January 19, 2001. She is survived by her son, Roy Young, Jr. and wife, Lucy of Albuquerque; grandson, Bruce R. Young of Minneapolis, MN; and sister, Gladys of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy O. Young, Sr.; and later by her second husband, Carl Bergstrom. Gertrude attended the First Family Assembly of God Church. She also attended the East Gate Senior Center. She has been cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date at First Family Assembly of God Church, with Rev. John McNabb of the Deaf ministry officiating. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Catherine Chalamidas, 87, passed away January 18, 2001. She was born in New York City August 28, 1913. Her family moved to Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. Catherine and her husband, Louis moved to Albuquerque with their children in 1947. They were in the bar and restaurant business. In the 1950's they were owners of the Town House Restaurant & Lounge and in the 1960's they were owners of the Triangle Restaurant & Lounge. Catherine is survived by her three sons, Thomas L. Chalamidas, Stewart Chalamidas and Chris Chalamidas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Sam and Gus Vagianos; and one sister, Stella Vukas; and many nephews and nieces. A Church Service will be held Sunday, January 21 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 22, 1:00 p.m. at the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High Street S.E. with Father Mario Gianopoulos. Following the Church Service, Burial Service will be held at Fairview Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Chalamidas, Louis Chalamidas, Tasso Chronis, Jason Daskalos, Joe Giacomo, Jonathan Head and Nick Manole.
