Angie R. Dunn, age 76, of Nappanee, IN formerly of Albuquerque, NM, died at 11:50 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2001 at Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, IN, where she had been a patient for one day. Mrs. Dunn was born February 24, 1925 in Colonias, NM to Leonardo and Mela Martinez Gonzales. She married Louis E. Dunn in February 1940. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2000. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Geraldine) Keys of Nappanee, IN; a son, Richard "Ricky" Dunn of Muncie, IN; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Leonard Gonzales of Santa Rosa, NM, Gene Gonzales of Espanola, NM, and Rudy Gonzales, Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Pita Urban and Ida Gonzales and two brothers, Anthony and Johnny Gonzales. Mrs. Dunn moved to Nappanee in September, 2000 from Albuquerque. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. There will be a Memorial Service, Friday, May 11, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Thompson Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee. Inurement will be in South Union Cemetery, Nappanee, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the America Cancer Society.

Jose V. Garcia, 18, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 7, 2001. He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Garcia; two sisters, Angelica Garcia and Monica Garcia; grandparents, Espiridion and Virginia Garcia, all of Albuquerque; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jose was a member of the Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 9:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Manuel Viera, O.F.M., Celebrant. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Valente Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Alberto Tarango, Fernando Tarango, Victor Garcia and Robert Madrigal. Rafael Guitron, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for six years, died Monday, May 7, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Emma Guitron; daughters, Mary Lou Castillo and husband, Xavier, all of Albuquerque, Aurora Godinez and husband, Juillermo and Helen Diez Guitron, both of Guadalupe, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Mr. Guitron was born in Mexico and moved to the United States at the age of 20. He was a very dedicated sheet metal worker until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1995 to be near their daughter and her family. Mr. Guitron loved spending time playing dominos and pool. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Thomas N. Hammond, born June 7, 1915 in Albuquerque, NM passed away Friday, May 4, 2001. Thomas served in the Army with the 96th Infantry in the South Pacific. He was an Office Manager at the Valliant Printing Company. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Bevier Hammond; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Road NE, Albuquerque, NM on Thursday, May 10, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Wright, officiating. Higgins-Hurford, Katherine L. "Kay" passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2001 from cancer. Born in Albuquerque, NM on June 12, 1937 to Leone Krembs Chase and Maj. John Chase. During her father's military career she lived in many places including Manila, Philippines before the family returned to Albuquerque. She attended St. Mary School and Highland High School, and graduated from UNM College of Nursing in 1959 in the first nursing class. Thereafter, she worked as a nurse at UNM, in doctor's offices and for 31 years devoted her life to nursing in Albuquerque Public Schools. Kay was past president of the ADK Honorary Educators Sorority XI Chapter. She is survived by Paul J. Hurford, cousin, Patricia Schook of Albuquerque, and numerous relatives in Wisconsin including Carla Krembs and Jane Grieling. Vita James, 91, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2001. She is survived by her son, Pete James and wife, Donna of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Denise James, Julie Griego and husband, Gilbert, Anthony James, Michael James, and Sandra Kehoe and husband, Patrick, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren Jordan Schurter, Jessica Griego, Joseph Griego and Charlotte Kehoe. Sophie Kemm, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2001. Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kemm Sr.; her parents, Abelino and Rosabel (Romero) Lucero; sisters, Simonita Cassidy and Mary Garcia; brothers, Abelino Jr. and Albert Lucero. She is survived by her son, Bob Kemm of Albuquerque, grandchildren, John Kemm and Leslie Michelle Kemm of Albuquerque, NM and Eric Kemm of Las Vegas, NV; great grandson, Michael John Kemm; sisters, Ester Pray of Albuquerque, Lita Lovato and husband, Alex, of Los Alamos, NM and Georgia Dziurzynski and husband, Clarence of Albuquerque; brothers, Carlos Lucero and wife, Yvonne, Albino Lucero and wife, Frances, and Robert Lucero all of Albuquerque, and Fred Lucero and wife, Iris of Hawthorne, CA; sisters-in-law, Ramona and Fabiola Lucero of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews. Sophie received her teachers training at NM Normal College now known as NM Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. Besides teaching, she worked along side with her husband as a partner in various businesses including lumber, hardware store, ranching, nightclub and real estate. She also worked for the State of New Mexico Equal Opportunity Board. Sophie was involved in many volunteer activities and had a great interest in genealogy for which she received a commendation from the Historical Society of New Mexico. Sophie was a member of the Catholic Church, the Alameda Lions Club and auxiliary member of the Knights of Columbus. She and her husband traveled extensively to Europe, the Caribbean and South America. She lived at the Bear Canyon Estates Retirement Community since 1997, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of her friends and visitors. Pallbearers are Patrick Cassidy, Bennie Garcia, John Kemm, Manny Garcia Jr., Robert Lucero and Phil Rodriquez. Frank Kubat, 82, passed away May 5, 2001 after a brief illness. He was born April 24, 1919 to Joseph Kubat and Mary Cermak Kubat of Chicago, Illinois and was youngest of their six children. He married Beatrice Linhart on May 16, 1942 and was drafted into the Army in October of 1942. He served overseas with the 156th General Hospital in Herfordshire, England. After WWII, he returned home to his wife and family in Chicago and worked for various companies in the Chicago area. In the early 1950s, determined to explore fresh opportunities, he and his wife traveled around the western United States, looking for a new place to live. Friends prevailed upon them to visit Albuquerque where they fell in love with the city, the mountains, and the weather. In 1955, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque where he worked for several companies before he ultimately joined the Border Sunshine/Servomation Company. He retired from Servomation in 1981. His family and friends will remember Frank for his sense of humor, his love of playing golf, his keen card playing abilities, and his devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann and Marie; and his brothers, Joe and Jerry. He is survived by Beatrice, his wife of nearly 59 years; daughter, Kimberly Martin and husband, Joe of Espaņola, NM; daughter, Karen Fitzpatrick and fiancee, Mark Guerin of Albuquerque, NM; grandson, Shane Fitzpatrick; his sister, Rose Wunderlich of Brownsville, TX; numerous cherished nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends. Frank will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. At Frank's request, no Memorial Service will be held and the funeral service will be private. Albert Woodrow "Woody" Love, 83, a lifetime resident of Moriarty, NM passed away Monday May 7, 2001, with his family by his side, in Albuquerque, NM. He was born August 4, 1917, to Albert Berry and Amie Ellen (Leach) Love, in Lovington, NM. Woody married Winnie Lou Jones September 24, 1962 in Tucumcari, NM. He was a member of The First Baptist Church for 29 years, at the church he served as the Sunday School Superintendent, cooked for the Men's Prayer Breakfast, and sang in the choir. Woody worked on Road Construction for 60 years for many of the large construction companies in NM and retired at the age of 75. He them spent most of his time repairing bikes for his grandchildren, Scott, Alyssa, and Bradley, until he became too blind to do so. Woody will be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, and will be missed by all that knew him. Woody is survived by his wife of 38 years, Winnie Lou Love, of Moriarty, NM; four daughters, Jodi D. Jones and husband, Shane of Moriarty, NM, Leota Greeley and husband, Hilbert of Wagner SD, Edna Watkins of Ft. Smith, AR, and Anna Levern Holly and husband, Craig of Iowa Park, TX; four step sons, John, Vernon, Billy, and Walter Whinery; two step daughters, Cheryl Ginzell and Valrea Ann Mitchell, which Woody and Winnie Raised for a while; One daughter-in-law, Annamarie Davis; one sister, Lorene Davis and husband, Jack; two nieces, Joann Del Curto and husband, Butch, and Viola Parcella and husband, Charles; two nephews, Rodger Davis, and William Ray Meeks; one grand-nephew, Gary Davis; 30 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Dean; half-brother, Elmer; sister, Alva Lee Chandler; half-sister, Cloie; son, "Buzzy" Albert W. Love Jr., and step-son, Richard A. Whinery. Elizabeth Claire Farley Martin was born August 12, 1929 in Denver, Colorado and died in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 7, 2001. Liz is survived by her husband, Robert Auld Martin of Albuquerque and their six children, Kathryn Louise Jones, her husband, Lee Jones, and their children, Rocky and Bobby all of Albuquerque, Debra Lee Martin, her husband, Nathan Smith of Sacramento, CA, and their daughter, Julia Dumars and son-in-law, Eric Dumars of Denver, CO, Patricia Suzanne Glass, her husband, Steve Glass and their children, Westin, Aspen, and Dawn of Albuquerque, Mary Christine Leddy, her husband, Daniel Leddy and their children, Matthew and Erin of Great Mills, MA, Margaret Grace Leach, her husband, Michael Leach and their children, Charlie and Tommy of Albuquerque, and Robert Farley Martin and his wife, Joe of Denver, CO. Her sister, Mary Walker of Denver, CO also survives her. Elizabeth grew up in Denver where she met her husband, Bob, at North High School and later attended Northern Colorado State University. She and Bob lived in Phoenix, AZ, Bayfield, CO, Denver, CO, and finally settled in Los Alamos, NM where Bob taught school for 30 years. In addition to raising her six children, she worked as a substitute teacher and an illustrator at Los Alamos Labs. They retired to Albuquerque in 1986. Elizabeth's great passions were for creative sewing, learning, and reading. She will be greatly missed by her husband and soul mate, her children who dearly loved their Mom, and her ten grandchildren who loved their Nana. A private Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2001. The family wishes to thank the entire team at Presbyterian Hospice for their wisdom and support, especially her nurse, Meryl Richards, who became her devoted friend. Barbara A. Meyer, 68, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 5, 2001. She was born to Bert and Dorthy Yoss on June 5, 1932, in Casper, Wyoming. As a child she had traveled all over the country with her parents. Barbara settled in Albuquerque in 1955, with her husband, James E. Meyer, where they raised their seven children. Barbara was a volunteer for many years with the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. She was named New Mexico's Outstanding Volunteer of the year in 1981, and St. Joseph's Volunteer Auxiliary of the Year in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two children, Renee M. Dunlap and John C. Meyer. She is survived by five of her children, Richard D. Meyer, Michele M. Worm, Robert J. Meyer, James P. Meyer Jr., and Nicole A. Meyer, her two brothers, Robert Byram and Charles Yoss; her sister, Charlene Meyer; nine grandchildren; and her friend and companion of five years, Jose M. Rael. There will be a Rosary Service at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at San Ysidro Catholic Church, 5015 Corrales Rd., Corrales, NM. Laura E. Miller, 85, A resident of Santa Fe, died peacefully at a local retirement center on Monday evening, May 7, 2001. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, former New Mexico State Police Captain Kenneth K. (KK) Miller in 1994. Born in Cooperton, Oklahoma on September 2, 1915 to Herman C. and Mary E. Hughes, her family moved to Colfax County New Mexico when she was an infant. She moved to Albuquerque in 1931 and lived there
until 1980 when she married KK Miller and moved to Santa Fe. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem and Nell's Service Club. She attended Sunday School and Church at St. John's United Methodist Church and was a member of the Tap Dancing Grandmothers. She is survived by her son, Judge James Roy Wheeler and wife, Juanita of Santa Fe; grandson, Gregory S. Wheeler of Albuquerque; grandaughter, Roxane Butts of Capitan, NM; sister, Frances Bradford of Hot Springs Arkansas and Betty Bowling of Decatur, Alabama. Her companion of the last two years was Arthur Lentz. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2001 at Berardinelli Funeral Chapel. Samuel C. Murdoch, 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, died on May 6, 2001. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Newfield and husband, Neal of Morgantown, WV and Lynn Labor and husband, Pat of Albuquerque; sons, Pat Murdoch and Rick Murdoch, both of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Erica Newfield and Stacy Labor; grandson, Wesley Labor and sister, Natalie M. Mitchell A. Perry, Jr., 72, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2001 in New Braunfels, TX. Mr. Perry was born June 12, 1928 in Poplar Bluff, MO. to Mitchell A. and Velma Blevins Perry. He graduated from Denison High School in 1946, and Graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and also completed some graduate studies in New Mexico. Mr. Perry was a retired engineer with Dyna Electron in Albuquerque. He attended Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church in Albuquerque and the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Arlington, TX. Mr. Perry was in the U.S. Army form 1946-1949, and 1950-1952 during the Korean War. He married Nancy (Kelly) on December 12, 1950 in Denison, TX. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Perry of Arlington, TX; sons, Kelly Perry of Portland, OR, John Perry of Denison, TX; daughters, Sylvia Beierman of Austin, TX and Cynthia Hitchcock of Asheville, NC; brothers, Lonnie Perry of New Braunfels, TX; sisters, Lee Nyman of New Braunfels, TX., Carolyn Eisenhour of McAlester, OK; and grandchildren, Brandi and Andi Beireman of Austin, TX. William James Shoats, age 37, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2001 at his home in Tijeras. He was born March 20, 1964 in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by one daughter, Christina Chavez of Albuquerque; his parents, William and Libby Shoats, Tijeras; grandparents, William H. and Opal E. Shoats of Albuquerque; two sisters, Eve Shoats, San Pedro, CA, Cindy Delgado, Torrance, CA; two brothers, Anthony Shoats, San Pedro, CA, Ray Shoats, San Pedro, CA; ten nieces, Angel Arvizu, April Patel, Anisa Delgado, Savannah Rushing, Katrina Shoats, Erica Shoats, Carrie Shoats, Monica Martinez, Andreya Anaya, and Julie Shoats; ten nephews, Jeremy L. Mrs. Paublita E. Silva, 73, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on May 8, 2001. Mrs. Silva is survived by her children Tony Silva and wife, Peggy, Susan Monnet and husband, Arthur, Ramon Silva and wife, Marcella, Alex Silva and wife, Gloria, Richard Silva and wife, Bernadette, Marcella De Herrera and husband, Henry, Virginia Silva, Juan M. Silva, Rosalio Silva and wife, Cecilia and Rita Bosschaart and husband Dave; two brothers, Miguel Martinez and wife, Vivian and Juan Martinez and wife Vivian; one sister Juanita Martinez; 26 grandchildren; 27 great grandchilren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Silva is preceded in death by her husbands, Rosalio A. Silva and Joe Lucero. Mrs. Silva was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with final visitation at the church after 8:30. Father Manuel Viera, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Ricky Silva, Jonas Silva, Gabriel Silva, Bruce De Herrera, Adam Van Damme and Justin Silva. Honorary will be, Steven Monnet, Angelo Silva, Daniel Silva, Andrew De Herrera and Alex Silva. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW in charge of the arrangements.

Richard D. Tafoya, 31, a resident of Los Lunas, New Mexico passed away on May 7, 2001. Richard is the beloved son of Pete and Carmen Tafoya and is survived by loving brothers and sisters, Theresa Romero and husband, George, Charles Tafoya, Peter Tafoya, Julian Tafoya and wife, Jo Ann, Gloria Tafoya and Josephine Archuleta and husband, Louie; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Richard, was loved very much especially by his nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker, Local Union #611. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.at the Albuquerque Evangelistic Center, 1902 Isleta SW. Pastor Steve Perez, officiating. The family will be receiving family and friends at the church after 1:30. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.

Clyde W. West, 75, a resident of Albuquerque for two years, passed away May 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Lois West; daughter, Ruth Starr and husband, Michael of Albuquerque; and numerous cousins. Cremation has taken place and services will be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.

ERNESTO `ERNIE' MICHAEL GALLEGOS JR., 49, of Espaņola died Sunday. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, he relocated from Los Angeles to the Espaņola Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Genevieve O. Gallegos; and a sister. He is survived by his children Genevieve M. Viarreal-Gallegos and companion Adam Loretto of Espaņola, Ernest Michael Gallegos III of Pojoaque Pueblo, Pennie Gallegos and companion George Sanchez of Espaņola, and Bettijean Viarreal-Gallegos of Pojoaque Pueblo; mother of his children and his friend, Betty Jean Viarreal of Pojoaque Pueblo; sisters and brothers, Molly Gomez and husband Rudy of Norwalk, Calif., Rosie Smerch of Burbank, Calif., Julia Gheen and husband Freddie of Knoxville, Tenn., Lorenzo Gallegos and wife Anna of Albuquerque, Diana Ochoa of Huntington Park, Calif., Angelino 'Nino' Gallegos of Los Angeles, Marina Rodriguez and husband Marcos of Huntington Park, Calif., Helen Gallegos of Fresno, Calif., Frankie Gallegos and wife Kim of Fresno, Calif., and Adam Gallegos and wife Carol of Downey, Calif.; and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation at 4 p.m. today at Block-Salazar Mortuary in Espaņola with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the San Jose Church in Hernandez. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Block-Salazar Mortuary, Espaņola.

DEAN MARET, 72, of White Rock died Saturday. He was born July 28, 1928, in Frontier County, Neb. He graduated from Hastings High School, Hastings, Neb. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He served in the U.S. Army from September 1946 until January 1948. His service took him to the Philippines where he served as a military police officer. He married Florence Rhodes March 4, 1951. They moved to Los Alamos in June 1956 and he was employed by the Protective Force. He later worked for the Los Alamos County Police Department for 27 years, retiring with the rank of captain. He was active in Los Alamos Lions Club, the White Rock Senior Center and the special coffee gatherings at the Quik Stop in White Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Bruce Maret. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence of White Rock; daughters, Mary and her husband Edgar Lopez of Las Cruces, and Nancy and her husband Louis Sandoval of White Rock; grandchildren, Christopher Lopez and his wife Liz of Mesa, Ariz., Kenneth Lopez of San Francisco, Jordan and Lauren Sandoval of White Rock; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Lopez; and Darius Holland whom Dean thought of as another grandchild. Memorial services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the White Rock United Methodist Church.
