Ira Monroe Gideon, 78, a resident of Albuquerque died, Monday, May 8, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Nelda F. Gideon of Albuquerque; daughters, Arlena Crandell and husband, Fred of Benton, KS and Cherie Berg and husband, Brian of Cascade, MT; son, Alan Gideon and wife, Julie of Ashburn, VA; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill J. Gideon of Webb City, MO, Elmer Gideon of Cleveland, OH and James Gideon of Anderson, MO. Mr. Gideon lived in Great Bend, Kansas following discharge from the US Navy in December 1945. He worked as mechanic in Great Bend, KS, Roswell, NM, and Albuquerque. He married Nelda Farnsworth in 1942. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Gerald White officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimers Association, 1330 San Pedro NE, Suite 205, 87110, Sandia Hospice, 4775 Indian School Rd. Pauline Gonzales, 88, a lifelong resident of the Albuquerque area, passed away peacefully at Lovelace Hospital on Thursday, May 11, 2000. She is survived by her only daughter, Jeanne Breck and husband, Bert of Belen; two grandchildren, Stewart Breck of Belen and Stephanie McCorkle and husband, Wayne of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Gonzales, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Her heritage was the C De Baca's of Bernalillo. In her early life, she spent time serving at the Dog House drive-in and diner. After this, her priority was being a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Rosary will be recited Friday, May 12, 2000, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 13, 2000, 11:30 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo del Norte NE, with Father Domingo Gumpal, Celebrant. Trinnie E. Griego
1916-2000
Trinnie E. Griego, 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Abo, New Mexico to Luis T. and Josefita Esquibel. Mrs. Griego was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bonafacio B. Griego; and a daughter-in-law, Annalee Griego. She is survived by her daughters, Eloisa G. Tabet and husband, Boni of Belen, Filomena G. Gonzales and husband, Johnie of Albuquerque, and Josie Brill and husband, Jerry of Las Cruces; her sons, Enfred Griego of Albuquerque, Juan J. Griego and wife, Nancy of Belen, and Lawrence Griego and wife, Margaret of Belen; her sisters, Lizzie Trujillo, Lena Ulibarri, Christina Luna and husband, Florian; her brothers, Abran Esquibel and wife, Rose and Manuel Esquibel; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Griego will begin at 12:00 noon, Friday, May 12, at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel. The family will begin receiving friends at 5:30 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Manuel Gallegos. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 13, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Father David Gallegos officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Baby Jacob M. Herrera, beloved son to Kristian and Kristina Herrera, passed away and is now one of God's little Angels. Jacob is also survived by his grandparents, Martha and Leonard Baca, Jessica and Rudy Herrera, Mary and Manuel Herrera, Anna Mae and Jesse Garcia; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Our Baby will be dearly missed and we will always love him. A graveside blessing will be held on Saturday morning, 10:00 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, with Deacon Julian Padilla officiating. John Murdoch Jr., 44, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past five years, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2000. John was born December 20, 1955 in Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil, the son of John and Elizabeth Murdoch Sr. He was a manager of a casino. John was preceded in death by his mother, He is survived by his wife, Lori of Rio Rancho; his father, John Murdoch Sr. of Cantinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil; one brother, Tom Murdoch and wife, Cathy of Derby, KS; one sister, Kathy Valdez and husband, Dave of Orlando, FL; several nieces and nephews; and many, many loving friends and two special "friends", his dogs, Cocoa and Pellie. John and Lori were newly married on March 25, 2000. They had the best year of both their lives together. John was very giving to family and friends. He always wanted to help everyone and always made himself available to anyone. Friends often called John for advice on many issues. John also spent much of his time working on ways to improve the casino at which he worked. The visitation for John will be today, Thursday, May 11, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The service will be Friday, May 12, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Michael Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Coy C. "Butch" Phillips II, 34, of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, May 8, 2000 in Albuquerque. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home in Waco, Texas with the Rev. Roy Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. The family will received friends and relatives Friday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Butch was born on April 18, 1966 in Nuhrenburg, Germany, the son of Coy C. Phillips and Sandra Young Phillips. He is survived by his mother, Sandra Greer and husband, Lloyd of Hewitt, TX; his father, Coy C. Phillips and wife, Mae of Harker Heights, TX; two sisters, Diana Melino of Plano, TX and Susan Blackburn of Trophy Club, TX; brother, Colby Greer of Hewitt; three nephews, Dustin Call and Corey Clark of Plano, Blake Collier of Trophy Club; grandparents, Corbin and Zelma Benham of Mulvane, KS, Pattie Kindley of Wichita, KS; aunt, Patricia Young of Albuquerque; uncle, Danny Phillips of Wichita, KS.

Mr. Herman Sandoval died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 51. Funeral services for Mr. Sandoval will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., at the Canoncito Pentecostal Church with Pastor Pauline Platero officiating. Lois K. Sisk, age 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died May 8, 2000 in a local hospital. She is survived by her children, Patricia A. Sisk and James P. Sisk; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, John Fisher of Salina, KS; and a sister, Phyllis Champ of Junction City, KS; half-sister, Clarabel Sisk of Wichita, KS. Lois volunteered at St. Joseph NE Heights Hospital on the Information Desk for 17 years, accruing 11,000 volunteered hours there. She was also an Accountant with First National Bank and retired from there after 20 years. In lieu of flowers, or a memorial service, donations may be made to St. Joseph Foundation for a leaf to be added to the Tree of Life at St. Joseph NE Heights Hospital, 4701 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Fermin Trujillo Jr., 59, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2000. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Fermin was born in Bosque, NM. Then he moved to Albuquerque at the age of 9, following the death of his mother in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1966, which included duties in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Fermin was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin Sr. and Isabelita Trujillo; his half-sister, Theresa Maldonado. He is survived by his loving brothers and sisters, Bernice Tellez and her husband, Robert, Marcella Melendez and her husband, Eddie, Gloria Melendez and her husband, Oscar, David Florinio and Premetivo Trujillo; her half-brother, Edwin Trujillo and half-sister, Emily Gomez. He is also survived by Michella Tetta who, although not related, was like a mother to him for a large part of his life. Fermin is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Joe D. White Jr., 38, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away May 10, 2000. He is survived by his father, Joe D. White Sr. and wife, Nora; siblings, Larry D. White, Nanette Ward and husband, Ken and James Allen White and wife, Susan of Los Lunas. He is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nick 'Spook' Gallegos; grandparents Fidel Martinez, and Benito Espinoza, Julian and Trinidad Gallegos. DAVID J. HERRERA, 43, of El Rito died Wednesday due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Herrera; grandparents Fernando and Tersita Herrera, and Camila Ocana; uncle, Isamel Jaramillo; and close cousin, Gavino Manzanares. He is survived by his mother, Soraida Herrera of El Rito; brothers Herman Herrera and wife Annie of Arizona, Rudy Herrera and wife Yvone, and Johnny Herrera and wife Ida, all of El Rito, and Emilio Herrera and wife Prescilla of Arizona; sisters Darlene Gonzales and husband Joe of Colorado, Pauline Valdez and husband Randy of Las Vegas, N.M., Julie McShaw and husband Quintan of El Rito, and Mary Kay Archuleta and husband Randy of El Rito; grandfather, Juan Antonio Ocana of El Rito; and numerous other relatives and friends. CHARLIE HAM LOGGINS, 71, of Grand Junction, Colo., died April 20. He was born Jan. 11, 1929, to Lem Loggins and Oma Anderson Loggins in Atlanta. He was retired from U.S. West and the AT&T Co., where he worked in maintenance. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Villegas Loggins; and daughter, Jeannie Sundquist. He is survived by his sister, Luden Epps and husband Mac of Forest Park, Ga.; cousins Rose Lucero and husband Celso of Las Vegas, N.M., Jerry Gonzales, and Raymond Gonzales, both of Denver, and Marcario Gonzales and wife Anna of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers-in-law John Villegas and wife Lina of Las Vegas, N.M., and Raymond Villegas and wife Ernestine of Denver; nieces and nephews Rachael Meserve and husband David of Rio Rancho, Christine Montaņo and husband Bobby of Albuquerque, Ruth Villegas of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cathy Millegas of Denver, Christopher Villegas and wife Lorena of Denver, and Gerald Villegas and wife Donna of Denver. ADELA B. MAESTAS of Mora died May 5. She was born in Roy and moved to Mora with her family when she was very young. She was a member of the first graduating class of Mora High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Maestas; infant son, Igancio Ididoro; parents, Louis Branch and Francesquita Martinez Branch; sister, Rosalie Branch; brothers Octaviano, Ricardo, Ralph, Alex and Richard Branch; and great-grandson, Aaron Craig. She is survived by her daughters Lulu and husband Fidel Valdez of La Luz, N.M., Adelita and husband Carlos Craig of Raton, and Fabiola and husband Mike Esposito of Thornton, Colo.; sister, Gertrude Cruz of Santa Fe; grandchildren Elizabeth Valdez and Harvey of Simsburg, Conn., Leola Valdez of La Luz, Daniel Craig and Sherie Storre of Santa Fe, Robert Craig and wife Sidney of Springville, Utah, Darren Craig and wife Shelley of Raton, Sara, Antonio and Bianca Esposito, all of Thornton, Colo.; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. DONALD DUANE OCAņA, 39, of El Rito died Wednesday due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Leandro and Bersabe Gallegos; paternal grandparents Viciente and Manuelita Ocaņa. He is survived by his wife, Christine Garcia; parents, Albert and Ayola Ocaņa; brother, Freddie Ocaņa and wife Carol; sister, Crestina Ocaņa and husband Arturo Delgado; nephew and godson, Darrick; godson, Philip Rodriguez; other nephews Freddie Jr., Brandon and Tomas; and numerous other relatives and friends. Rosaries will be recited at 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic church in El Rito. Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the same church. Odelia G. Armenta, 81, passed away May 11, 2001. She lived all of her life in the Ranchos de Albuquerque area. She is survived by her husband, Nick Armenta; daughter, Yolanda Chavez; sisters, Melita G. Chavez, Viola Torres, and Cecilia Sanchez; brothers, Onofre Gomez, Johnny Gomez Jr., many nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved and will miss her. A visitaion will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services on Saturday, May 12, 2001 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Graveside Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Sandia Memory Gardens Cemetery. Sisto J. Garcia, February 1, 1923 - April 15, 2001. Sisto J. Garcia, 78, of El Cajon, CA passed away Easter Sunday. He was born in Albuquerque, NM and was a truck driver for Royal Crown, 7up, Coke, Cadeve Chile CO. Survivors include his wife, Pauline L. Garcia of El Cajon; daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Richard Garcia-Horne of Santee CA; son and daughter-in-law, Sisto and Laura Garcia of Oceanside, CA; three grandsons of Santee CA, Joseph, Richard II, Nicholas Garcia-Horne; granddaughter, Kathleen Garcia of Oceanside, CA; also surviving from Albuquerque are a daughter, Susan, from previous marriage; a niece, Gloria Nuņez; two nephews, Mike Montoya and Sisto. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He will join in Heaven his son, Joseph Garcia; mom and dad; and sister, Delia Montoya. Arrangements by El Cajon Mortuary in California.

Homer Jay Gardner passed away May 7, 2001 in Longmont, CO at the Longmont United Hospital. Homer was born April 4, 1942 in El Paso, TX. Following high school, he received a Bachelors degree from BYU and a Masters Degree in Electronics Engineering at CSU in Ft. Collins CO. Homer was preceded in death by his father, George. He is survived by his mother, Faye Gardner; son, Roger; daughters, Shannon and Stephanie; brother, Fred Gardner; and sisters, Peggy Ward and Kathy Getz; as well as five grandchildren. Visitation is Thursday 10:00 a.m. at Howe Mortuary, Longmont, CO. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1st ward in Longmont at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2001. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Donald Wencil Gatto, a.k.a. "Super G", passed away Thursday, May 10, 2001, after complications from surgery on Monday, May 7, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Don was born on May 12, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, IA and would have celebrated his 70th birthday this Saturday. He was the oldest of five from a traditional Italian immigrant family. Don has always been a strong leader and very personable man. He made a point of making friends wherever he went and always remembered faces and specifics about people's lives and will be missed by a great many friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Gatto of Albuquerque; sons, Steven Gatto and wife, Tami of Henderson, TX, and Thomas Gatto and wife, Jane of Monmouth, ME; stepson, Brady Womack and wife, Claire Goldstein of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Brenda and her children, Jayson, Jacque, and Shawna Grover, and Jonathan Beck, all of Las Cruces; mother-in-law, Nadine Myers of Albuquerque; brother, August Gatto of Chicago, IL; sisters, Pat Crawford and Jean Lubbock of Cedar Rapids, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger Brother, Bernard Wencil Gatto. Don was athletic in his youth, having played on numerous teams in school and grew to be a very active community member. He was voted the Jaycee of the Year before leaving Cedar Rapids in 1971. In the past, he has served as President of the parish council at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community, and was currently Eucharistic and Bereavement Minister at John XXIII Catholic Community in Albuquerque. He had made many close friendships and brightened the lives of many of the elderly and confined through his ministry to those with Alzheimer's and in assisted living. He was a regular of the "Flying Star" formerly "Double Rainbow" coffee club, as well as past president of the Coronado Wolf Pack (Lobo Booster Club). Retired from property management at Sandia National Laboratories in 1996, where he received the President's Quality Award, he spent much of his time serving in the community and traveling to watch the Lobos and his grandchildren in their various sports activities, the fan section will suffer his loss. Don will be remembered for his outreach to others, his support of those less fortunate than himself and the guidance he so freely and willingly gave. We will miss him greatly here, but recognize that he is now serving his Heavenly Father elsewhere. Memorial Rosary will be recited Sunday, May 13, 2001, 7:30 p.m., at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge NE. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 14, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at John XXIII Catholic Community. A Memorial for Beverly Hammond, 80, formerly of Albuquerque, will be held on Monday, May 14, 2001 at 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, Albuquerque, NM, with Rev. Charles Chrutchfield, officiating. A previous services was held on Friday, May 11, 2001 at First United Methodist Church, in Lubbock. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven of Lubbock. Mrs. Hammond died on Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at her residence. She was born on July 18, 1920 in Salt Lake City, UT and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1938 and from the University of New Mexico in 1942. She married Charles Hammond in Fort Sumner, NM on August 6, 1947. Mr. Hammond died in 1986. She was employed in the Banking Industry in Albuquerque for 30 years. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque before moving to Lubbock, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She served on the Churches Missions Committee and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Survivors include a daughter, "Niel" Moore of Lubbock; one sister, Donna Matheson of Glendora, CA; and one grandson, The family will receive friends in Albuquerque, at Central Methodist Church, immediately following services on Monday. The family suggests memorials to any of the United Methodist Missions.

Julia Lucero died Friday, May 11, 2001 in Albuquerque at the age of 77.
Funeral Services for Ms. Lucero are pending and will be announced at a later time.

Isabel C. Marquez passed away May 10, 2001 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Marquez; and son, Glen Marquez. Isabel is survived by her sons, Ross Marquez and wife, Martha, and Anthony Marquez and wife, Molly; daughter, Gloria Garcia and Gary Garcia; grandchildren, Daniel, Deborah Lee, Christin, and Matthew; great-grandchild, Isaiah; six brothers; three sisters, and other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atricso Dr. SW., with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00pm on Sunday, May 13, 2001. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2001, with burial following at San Clara Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Marquez, Ben Marquez, Gary Marquez, Joseph Marquez, Paul Marquez, and Ray Arriola. Honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Garcia. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW. Albuquerque. 505-343-8008.
