Emile (aka "Boo" ). Our Heavenly Father called Boo home on May 9, 2003. He was born October 3, 1915, to Elois and Eugenia "Rose" (Llorens) on Isle Breville, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana, and raised in the Cane River Colony. He married Mary Leola Couty where he was 23 years old, and after five children, moved to Albuquerque in the early fifties. Here they has six more children and raised them in the Martineztown Neighborhood. Boo was met in Heaven by his wife of sixty-one years, his first-born, Emile (Sonny), his mother & father, sisters Ellen & Rose, brothers Belizaire (Billy), Manuel, & Joseph Benjamin. His brother Willie, who is almost 92 years old, survives him. He is also survived by his children, Robert (Marianne), Mary Alice, Michael, Tony (Liz), Thomas (Debra), Laura (Kevin Johnson), Yvonne, Carmen (Charles Allen), Leonard, and David (Beatrice), as well as 35 grandchildren, and at last count, around 23 great grandchildren. Anyone that really knew Boo, knew that he loved baseball all of his life. He played with the Negro Leagues in the south and was a top-notch pitcher. When his age came between him and his arm, he coached various semi-pro teams in Albuquerque through the seventies; he was a proud inductee into the Albuquerque Sports Hall of Fame. Some of his last years were spent as "The old white-haired man at the gate" of the Albuquerque Sportsplex with Mike Foote, whom he loved like a son. Please don't be sad at Boo's passing on; he's in Heaven now. We're sure of this because, to paraphrase a passage form II Corinthians 5, "To be absent form the body is to be present with the Lord." We'll miss that crazy creole, but God needed a relief pitcher, so he took Boo out of the imperfect bullpen called life, and onto the perfect mound, on the perfect field. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 12 at Salazar & Sons Mortuary,. Services will be held Tuesday, May 13 at San Ignacio Church in Martineztown; internment following at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his six sons. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you send a donation to Albuquerque Manor, Alzhiemer's Unit, 500 Louisiana NE, 87108; their staff took loving care of him, and we'll always be grateful. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary 400 3rd St. S.W.
