Larry R. Maes, 52, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on June 10, 2003. Mr. Maes is the beloved husband to Mrs. Velma M. Maes. Mr. Maes is also survived by one daughter, Jennifer Maes and fiance, Sam Lester; one sister, Virginia Escarsida and husband, Raymundo; one brother, Daniel P. Maes; five grandchildren, Samuel Helario Lopez, Jauni and Corban Mejia, Erica and Victoria Elwell; six great-grandchildren, Christian, Tatiana, Fernando, Caesar, Victor and Larissa; nieces, Vanessa, Regina and Tania; many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel by Deacon Manuel Montoya. The family will be accepting family and friends after 9:30 a.m. Arrangements by:

Vita Angela Marchese, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Joe Marchese; son, Luciano Marchese and wife, Doris of Albuquerque; daughter, Giovanna Marchese of Riverside, CA, Sally Duckert and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; brother, Mario Burgarello and wife, Anna of Albuquerque, Sal Burgarello and wife, Maria of Woodside, NY; grandchildren, Tonya Kalantarian, Joseph Marchese, Christina Duckert, Catarina Marchese, and Billy Duckert Jr.; and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marchese was born in Sicily and came to the United States at age 17. She lived in New York until 1972 when she moved to Albuquerque. Mrs. Marchese married Joe Marchese in 1954. She and Joe were in the restaurant business in Albuquerque until 1990. Mrs. Marchese was a member of Order of the Sons of Italy (Ben Abruzzo Lodge). Mr. And Mrs. Marchese were very happily married for almost 49 years. She was an extraordinary and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Rosary will be recited Thursday, June 12, 2003, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with Deacon Mark Bussemeier reciting. Joe Frank Ortiz, 76, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, died peacefully at home after losing his battle with cancer on June 7, 2003. Joe Frank will be remembered for his outstanding talent in basketball and track while attending St. Michael's High School. He is survived by his sons, Jerry Ortiz and wife, Cheryl and Steve Ortiz; daughters, Micki Fauteck and husband, Mark, Bobbi Ortiz, Cathy Sanchez and husband, Gilbert, Renee Fresquez and husband, Chris, and Lynn Cote and husband, Chuck; 25 grandchildren, 14 boys and 11 girls; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Consuelo Ortiz; and sisters-in-law, Sally Ortiz, Marie Baca, and Rita Baca; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Teresa (Tessie) and his daughter, Debra Marlene. Cremation has taken place and a memorial Rosary will be recited Friday, June 13, 2003, 8:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, with funeral Mass following at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

Mercy R. Ruiz (Marciano) born October 16, 1913 and died June 7, 2003 at the age of 89.
A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary.

Anita C. Shaffer, a resident of Albuquerque, died early Monday morning, June 9, 2003 at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center. She was 78. Anita was born on March 23, 1925 to Marion Curry and Nicholas DeLuccia in Newark, New Jersey. She grew up in Newark, then went on to live in Florida, Washington, and also Taos, New Mexico. Anita worked as an airline stewardess for Macki Airlines for many years, and then went on to work as a bookkeeper for several companies. Recently she worked in various jewelry retail stores in Old Town, Sandia Pueblo and downtown shops. Anita is survived by her daughter, Stacey of Rio Rancho; her sister, Delores Young of Aberdeen, WA; precious granddaughter, Jordan; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of very special friends. There will be a private Memorial Service for the family in Taos, New Mexico on Friday, June 13, 2003. Services under the care of:

Gus George Stultz, 87, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at his home. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lessie Mae Stultz; daughter, Patricia Stultz Carpenter and husband, Bill; son-in-law, John Weddle and wife, Paulette; and grandchildren, Joseph, Kathleen and husband, Brennan, Jonathan and wife, Jenean, Steve and his wife, Melissa, Leah and husband, Tim. Mr. Stultz is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Meaghan, Mary, Jacob, William, Margaret, Alora, Lindsey, Sonny and Trey; brother, Rex Stultz and wife, Alice. He was preceded in death by daughter, Shirley Faye Stultz Weddle. Mr. Stultz, was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in the Pacific Theater. He drove for Greyhound Bus Lines for 37 years before his retirement. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Dolly Jo Vowell, a resident of Albuquerque since 2000, died Sunday, June 8, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Kolodziejski, son-in-law, Larry; grandchildren, Andrew and Krista of Albuquerque; son, Jeff Vowell, daughter-in-law, Carol; grandson, Christopher; grandson, Daniel, his wife, Janine, and great-grandson, Matthew of Florida; and son, John Vowell and his wife, Susan of California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff on October 13, 1999. Dolly was born in Pauls Valley, OK on May 4, 1932. She moved to Los Angeles as a child and became active in the California State Republican Party. Her passion as political activist continued during her years in Poughkeepsie, NY and Roswell, NM. Dolly was a lifelong learner and an avid quilter, needleworker, and miniaturist. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was loyal to her friends and a mentor and teacher to many. ALBERT J. BERTOLA, 85, of Santa Fe, died Monday. He was retired from the state Motor Transportation Department, the state Highway Department and he was also a war veteran. He was a member of the Elks and Eagles Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Bertola; brother, Ray; and sisters, Rosie, Violet and Florence. He is survived by his close nephews, Barry Bertola and wife Emily, Gene Bertola of Houston, Fred Bertola and wife Sandy of Rio Rancho, and Tony Grisolano of Kirtland; niece, Lucille Martinelli of Gallup; and three stepdaughters, Cecile, Patty and Susan. ANTHONY 'AJ' JARAMILLO, 54, of Santa Fe, died Sunday after breathing his last few breaths that allowed him to play the sport that he loved most, baseball, in an Albuquerque tournament with his son Mike and surrounded by many family members. He was born on May 18, 1949, in Ojo Caliente and moved to Santa Fe and became an active member of society. He coached baseball for the last 25 years and was a baseball manager, umpire, baseball expert and avid photographer. He is survived by his parents, Manuel and Alice Jaramillo; children, Angela and husband Mark Garcia, Theresa Jaramillo and fiance David Martinez, Mike Jaramillo and brother Javier Molina, and Cynthia and husband Isaac Del Rio; three grandchildren; brothers, Ruben and wife Jean Jaramillo, Marty and wife Frances Jaramillo; sisters, Mary Elaine and husband Dennis Hernandez, and Evy and husband Albert Gallegos; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. TONITA A. MARTINEZ, 70, of Chacon, and Colorado for the past 54 years, died Friday in Boise, Idaho. She was born in Costilla on June 8, 1932, to the late J.D. Padilla and Bertha Arellano Padilla. She was married to the late Felix Martinez Sr. of Chacon for 53 years. She lost her beloved husband on July 25, 2002. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of the St. Gertrude Church in Mora. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Bertha Padilla; husband, Felix Martinez Sr.; sister, Rena Martienz. She is survived by her children, Pauline Castillo and husband Jerry, Felix Martinez Jr. and wife Maxine, Nancy Abeyta-Martinez, Bonnie Martinez, Lisa Lobato and husband Hank; stepson, Bennie Salas and wife Jane; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Casey Lenon and Prescilla Rangle; and many other relatives and friends. RUDY E. 'ROOTS' TRUJILLO, 50, of Espaņola, died unexpectedly on Monday. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Trujillo; father, Ramon Trujillo; brothers, Leo, Julian, Isaac, Bert and Jesse Trujillo; maternal grandparents, Enetro and Delfinia Velasquez; aunt, Soraida Cordova; and uncle, Elfigo Polaco. He is survived by his sons, Christopher Trujillo of Santa Fe, Julian Trujillo and wife Sandra of Espaņola, Adam Trujillo of Espaņola, and Ramon Trujillo of Servilleta; mother, Frances Trujillo of Fairview; sister, Flora Rendon and husband Eugene of La Mesilla; two grandsons; and many other relatives and friends. Vurla A. Armstrong, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, July 8, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Patrick and husband, Elmer of Albuquerque and Patsey Jean Strong of T or C; sons, J.D. Armstrong and wife, Dorothy of Liberal, KS and Earl Armstrong of El Paso, TX; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Our mother went to be with the Lord after a long illness. Mrs. Armstrong was loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew her. Neta Marie Bell, born Neta Marie Wagner, passed away June 6, at the age of 49. She was a lifetime resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her son, Robert J. Bell; and two brothers, John F. Wagner and Lonnie E. Wagner. She was a member of the Albuquerque Aerostat Ascension Association. Memorial services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW, at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 10, 1999. Memorial contributions can be made to Robert Bell, 720 E. Carl Booth, Jr., 77, a lifelong Albuquerque resident, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Mr. Booth retired from the New Mexico National Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer after 34 years service. He was a member of Faith Chapel. He was a dedicated husband to his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Booth of the family home; loving father of sons, Daniel (Eddie) Booth and wife, Loretta of Cedar Crest, Richard Booth and wife, Sara of Rio Rancho and Doug Booth and wife, Carla of Cedar Grove; seven grandchildren, Vikki Wingerd and husband, Sam, Randie Booth, Rick Booth and his love, Juanita Salas, Kelly Jungling and husband, Dan, Toby Booth and wife, Nora, Jennifer Booth and her love, Michael Witten and Alicia Booth; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Booth and wife, Beulah; sisters, Margaret Akin, Louise Whitney and husband, Lt. Col. Henry Whitney, Jean Trosper and husband, Charles, Laura Dorn and husband, Gary; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Hopkins. C. Keith Bowers, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, died on Tuesday, July 6, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlys Bowers of Albuquerque; sons, Richard K. Bowers and wife, Gerri of Chesapeake, VA, Donald A. Bowers and wife, Nancy of Dataw, SC, John C. Bowers and wife, Marcie of Neshanic Station, NJ, and David H. Bowers and wife, Carole of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Steven, Brian, Keith, Amanda, Katherine and Elizabeth Bowers; great-granddaughter, Ashley Bowers; sisters, Esther Crider of Tyler, TX and Donna Smart of Portland, OR; and brother, Gerald Bowers of E. Tawakoni, TX. Mr. Bowers proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II on the Battleship Maryland. He was an avid trombone player and enjoyed playing with the Shriners and American Legion Bands, as well as with various other groups. He was an original member of the Albuquerque City Band. Before retiring in 1985, Mr. Bowers was a sales representative for McClintock - Doane Paper Company. Tance (Frances Love Taichert) Brown who has been living in Arizona but forever considered Santa Fe as her home, died on June 30, 1999. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack. She is survived by her son, Marty Buchsbaum, wife Stacy and daughter, Hylah of Tesuque; daughter, Donna Bell, husband Jon and son Michael of Houston, Texas; and brother Robert Taichert and wife, Zane of Albuquerque. A service in celebration of her life and memory will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the Church of the Holy Faith, 311 E. Palace Avenue. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to your favorite charity or The Library of the Church of the Holy Faith in her name.

Cipriana B. Chavez, 71, a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 6, 1999. She is survived by her fiance, Cres Salazar; her children, Romanita Tafoya, Rose Espinosa and husband, Leo, Angie Sandoval and husband, Vince, Viola Astorga and husband, Antelno, Theresa Carabajal, Robert Chavez, Augustina Chavez, Anita Gonales, Anthony Chavez and wife, Felicia; 30 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one sister, Teresita Ayon; two brothers, Fran Barragan and wife, Mary, and Solomon Chavez. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 9:00 a.m., at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Estancia Cemetery. Final viewing for Mr. Jerry Chavez will be this morning, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Fr. Jack as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Los Padilla's Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Louis Chavez, Fred Chavez, Dennis Chavez Jr., Andy Bustos, Raul Zamora and Joel Vargas.
Funeral Services are in care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover SW.
