Betsy E. Shapiro, 62, a resident of Rio Rancho passed away on July 6, 2002.
Betsy was born on July 15, 1939 in Buffalo, NY to Harry and Esther Hymowitz.
Betsy was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a member of Congregation Albert Synagogue.
Betsy was very active in politics and was a proud member of the Democratic Club.
She adored her family and her precious grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betsy is survived by her husband, Earl Shapiro of Rio Rancho; her sons, Philip Shapiro and wife, Connie of Rio Rancho, Michael Shapiro and fiancé, Debbie, Daniel Shapiro all of Albuquerque; sister, Barbara and husband, Lou Montano of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Cathy, Adam, David, Kevin, Mariah, Tori, DeAunna and a host of very special friends.
A memorial service for Betsy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at Congregation Albert Synagogue, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE in Albuquerque with Rabbi Joseph R. Black, officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

Mr. Billy Glenn Smith, age 56, of London, Texas and Placitas, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2002, the result of complications from cancer treatment.
A private memorial service was held on July 4, 2002 at the Smith ranch in London.
Billy served his country as a member of the Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1969.
He went on to become a successful business owner in the aviation industry.
Billy will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his kindness, his strength, his indomitable spirit, and his overwhelming capacity for love.
Billy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Pearl and John Smith of Scurry, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda Louise Smith of London; his daughters, Deanna Hoak of Beavercreek, Ohio and Julie Yearout of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his son, Billy Smith, Jr. of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Zachary Peterson, Caitlin Yearout and Blaine Hoak; four sisters, Dorothy Cochran, Wanda Tucker, Linda McGuinness and Judy Dykes; and two brothers, Ronnie Smith and George Smith.

Edna M. Strasburg, 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Friday, July 5, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold C. Strasburg of Albuquerque; daughter, Rebecca Ann Blackstone and husband, Stanley of Del Rio, TX.
Edna was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She was a life member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home Auxiliary and Lovelace Medical Foundation Auxiliary.
Edna was an active volunteer at Lovelace Medical Center from 1961 to 1999. Services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2002, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
Interment will follow at Sandia Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Monday, July 8, 2002, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 8804 Washington NE, Suite C, 87113.

Frank Tarin, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on July 7, 2002.
Mr. Tarin is survived by his son, Patrick Tarin and wife, Marie; one sister, Rose Martinez; special niece, Mary Gaytan; other nieces, Rosalie Perea, Nellie Marquez, Margaret Santos and Carolina Garcia; great nieces and nephews, Kenny Martinez, Christi, Sean, Desiree and Michael Martinez; Martin Rodriquez; Misty, Jesse and Monica Gaytan; cousins, Mary Martinez and Frances Sears and a brother-in-law, Frank Garcia.
Mr. Tarin was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Marines serving in World War II.
A visitation for Mr. Tarin will be Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4th and Stove SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
A final visitation will be Thursday morning after 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebated at 9:30 a.m. by Father James Moore. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at twelve noon with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be PatrickTarin, Kenny Martinez, Bengie Garcia, Lloyd Garcia, Martin Rodriquez and Jesse Gaytan. Honorary pallbearer will be Frank Garcia.
Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Lou Thornton, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, July 4, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Monet Morehead and husband, Dan of Albuquerque; son, Jody W. Thornton and wife, Paula of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Diana Thompson and husband, Bruce of El Paso, TX, Tiffany Thornton of New York, Kelly Morehead and Stacy Morehead, both of Albuquerque; and sisters, Ruby Armstrong of Farmington, NM and Darling Carpenter of Puyallup, WA.
Mrs. Thornton was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2002, 12:00, noon, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Rowena Frances Trimble was born in Kirkville, MO, the first child of Floene and Thomas Quinn.
Her father's newspaper profession took them to different parts of the country, settling in IA. Trimble later met and married Donald Dean Trimble.
During WWII her husband became a career Air Force Officer, more traveling including time in England and Morocco.
Wherever they lived, she created a home.
She was a talented artist, a creative seamstress and an avid gardener.
Mrs. Trimble was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and is survived by their son, Thomas Trimble, and grandson, Taylor Trimble, both of Madison, WI, as well as a brother, Thomas Quinn of North Carolina and two nieces, residents of New Jersey.

Sally Ann Walker Shaw, 57, passed away peacefully at her home in Bosque Farms on Friday, July 5th 2002.
She was born in New Jersey on October 2, 1944 and moved to New Mexico in the early 1970's making Bosque Farms her home.
Sally had a zest for life and loved animals, gardening, beadwork, and many other hobbies.
She has touched the lives and hearts of many and will be dearly missed and forever loved and remembered.
She is survived by her husband, Monty Shaw; two daughters, Margaret Snyder of Ocala, Fl., and Lisa Stephens of Albuquerque; two brothers, John Wilson and wife, Marie, Anthony (Don) Radziercz and wife, Sheree; five grandchildren, Stephanie Clark, Anthony Michael Stephens, Shannon, Melissa and Tiffany Snyder; three step-children, Jeremy, Danna, Tracey Shaw; two nieces, Nicole and Laura Wilson; and one nephew, Anthony (Buddy ) Radziercz; and many friends.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 9th 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Bosque Farms "Church of Christ" on Bosque Farms Blvd.

Betty V. Zamora, 68, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, July 8, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Casimiro Zamora; children, Ernest Zamora, Anthony Zamora and wife, Erminia, Margaret Scott and husband, Allen, Gloria Whiting and husband, Leroy, Bernadette McNally and husband, Brian, Paul Zamora and wife, Patty, and Albert Zamora and wife, Denise; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Gilbert Lucero and wife, Navolena, Sarah Gutierrez and husband, Evey, Andy Lucero, Candido Lucero and wife, Eufemia, MaryAlice Graham and husband, Ronnie, Eddie Lucero and wife, Alice, Juan Lucero and wife, Vicki; brother-in-law, Florencio Gutierrez; and numerous other family, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Margarita Lucero, sister, Josie Gutierrez, and in-laws, Antonio and Anita Zamora.
Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 9, 2002, 7:00 p.m. at Holy Child in Tijeras with Father Bill Sanchez reciting.
Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 10, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Child, witth Father Bill Sanchez, Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Lucero Cemetery in Chilili, NM.
Friends may visit one hour prior to rosary.

JOHN PAUL CASTILLO, 68, of Las Vegas, N.M., and formerly of Coyote died Thursday at Northeastern Regional Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born July 24, 1933, in Coyote to Juan Francisco Castillo and Adelina Cordova Castillo.
He was married June 24, 1955, in Central to Julia Placencio.
He was employed at the Tonopah Test Site as a heavy equipment operator.
A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Adelina Castillo; brother, Salomon Castillo; and wife, Julia Castillo.
He is survived by daughters, Johanna Hirch and husband Arlan of Tonopah, Nev., Vita O'Reilly and husband Doug of Dayton, Texas, Monica Hunter of Las Vegas, Nev.; sons, Johnny Castillo and wife Lucy of Las Vegas, Nev., Manuel Castillo and wife Michelle of Reno, Nev., Eric Castillo of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Vicky Castillo of Las Vegas, N.M.; Stella Montoya of Las Vegas, N.M., Mother John Paul H.P.B. of Jemez Springs; brothers, Joe Castillo and wife Irene of Bayard, Joe Cordova and wife Robyn of Las Vegas, Nev.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary devotional services will be at 7 p.m. today at the Rogers Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
Interment will follow at the Guadalupita Family Plot in Guadalupita.

RAFAELITA CISNEROS DE GONZALES, 85, of El Prado died Friday.
She was a very active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armando C. Gonzales; infant children, JoAnne and Rafael; great-grandson, Jerome Baca; brothers, Vidal, Lino, Alfonso; sister, Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Luis and Grace Trujillo; brothers-in-law, Bernardo Trujillo and Isaac Gonzales Sr.
She is survived by three sons and four daughters, Faustin Gonzales (Flora), Ernest Gonzales (Fabie), Bobby Gonzales (Charlene), Beatrice Romero (Manuel), Susan Cordova (Alfred), Celia Fernandez (Joey), Angie Valencia (Elias); 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruperta 'Pepa' Trujillo, Erlinda Montoya, Connie Cisneros; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been held.
Interment was at Dolores Cemetery in El Prado.

DONALD R. HARPER, 66, of Angel Fire died Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife Fatima.
Funeral services were held in San Angelo, Texas.

LINDA RAY-CHAVEZ-MANZANARES, 44, of Española died Friday unexpectedly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Lee Manzanares; and maternal grandmother, Aurora Martinez.
She worked for State Farm Insurance.
She was a substitute teacher for the Española schools and she attended Northern New Mexico Community College.
She is survived by her sons, Alejandro Manzanares and girlfriend Angela Amaya, Manuel Manzanares and girlfriend Angela Martinez, Elias Manzanares and girlfriend Melissa Benson and Tranguelino Manzanares all of Española; parents, Fermin and Mary Lou Chavez of Española; brothers and sisters, Allen Chavez and wife Debbie, Karen Chavez and companion Tommy Maestas, Mark Chavez and wife Pamela, and Gary Chavez and wife Sadie all of Española, and Robert Chavez of Albuquerque; two granddaughters; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been held.

MARY RITA RIVERA ROMERO, 73, of El Alto died Sunday surrounded by her family.
She was born July 16, 1928, in El Alto to the late Ernesto Rivera and Senaida Mora Rivera.
She attended grade school in El Alto and high school in Casper, Wyo., later attaining her GED in Mora.
She was united in marriage with Esequiel Romero on July 30, 1947, in Casper, Wyo.
They later moved to Mora in 1958. She was a housewife and later was employed at the Mora Senior Center as a cook and at the Adult Day Care Center as an activities aide.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Esequiel Romero; sons, Bobby and David Romero; grandson, Dave Romero Jr.; parents, Ernesto and Senaida Mora Rivera; brothers, Ernesto Jr., Roy and Genaro Rivera.
She is survived by her sons, Patrick Romero and wife Anna of Santa Fe, Gilbert and Andrew Romero both of El Alto; daughters, Lucille Fernandez of El Alto, and Diana Lucero and husband Lawrence of Manuelitas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Lucero and husband Jim of Albuquerque, Pauline Jimenez and husband Fernando of Aurora, Colo., Margie Maestas and husband Johnny of Albuquerque, Francis Arguello and husband Joe (Junior) of Amalia, Maime Sprague of Albuquerque, Elizabeth Romero and husband Johnny of Mora; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the Rogers Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Victory Life Church in Las Vegas, N.M.
Interment will follow at the Romero Ranch in El Alto.
