Margaret E. Palmisano, 94, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died Saturday, October 7, 2000.
Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE, with Father Francis X. Eggert, Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.

Final visitation for Mrs. Aurora L. Quintana will be Wednesday morning in the Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco SW, from 9:45 until 10:15 with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:15 by Father Jose Hernandez.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Duane G. Rosenberger, 74, a resident of Fort Sumner, died Monday, October 9, 2000 in the De Baca General Hospital following an illness. Duane was born December 17, 1925 in Buffalo, Wyoming. Duane was raised in the Big Horn Mountains, near Kaycee, Wyoming. He attended and graduated from Buffalo Wyoming High School. Duane served as a member of a B-17 Air Crew during World War II. He married Betty Grimmer on June 3, 1951 in Winfield, Iowa. Duane traveled the rodeo circuit for several years; he was a team roper and a bull dogger. Duane and Betty made their home in Fort Sumner in 1958. Duane was a horseman. He owned and raced thoroughbred horses. He worked as a trainer for many years at Santa Fe Downs and the Downs at Albuquerque. Duane enjoyed reading; he was a self-taught pianist, a very articulate and literate man who enjoyed a good book. He is described by his family as kind and generous. Following a rodeo accident, Duane was in a leg cast for seven years. During this time he coached little league baseball in Fort Sumner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Bergita Kennedy. Survivors include his wife, Betty Rosenberger of the home in Fort Sumner; two sons, John Duane Rosenberger and wife, Cyndi of NATO Headquarters, Brussells, Belgium, Joseph Lee Rosenberger and wife, Pam of Shawnee, KS; a sister, Veda Wolski of Torringotn, WY; and a brother, Gordon Rosenberger of Onalaska, WA. Also surviving are four grandchildren along with a host of friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2000, from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner with Rev. Monty Leavell officiating. Honorary bearers will include Emmett Fallon, Carlos Sena, Don Barnes, Kildee Herring, Dan Craig, H.J. Lee, A.J. Killough, Richard Lopez, Orlando Trujillo, C.W. Grissom and all his coffee drinking buddies. The family prefers memorials to the Salvation Army or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N. Final visitation for Mr. Thomas (Tom) A. Salas will be Wednesday morning in the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 5415 Fortuna NW from 10:30 until 11:00 with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 by Father Gene Gries.
Interment will follow in the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery.

Gloria Ann Sanchez, resident of Los Angeles, CA, passed away to be with the Lord in His kingdom on Tuesday, October 3, 2000. She had a long battle with cancer. Born in Santa Fe on July 12, 1949, she moved with family to Los Angeles in 1953. She retired from the Bank of America after 25 years of service. She is survived by her mother, Lucy; father, Ray; brother, Leo and wife, Doris of Albuquerque; brother, Henry and wife, Dee of Los Angeles; brother, Carlos and wife, Lola of Rancho Santa Margarita; and many nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank the Hospice organization of Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles for their sincere care during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to them. Cremation has taken place in Los Angeles. Services will be held at St. Bernadette Church with a Memorial Mass at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, followed by cemetery burial services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Lillian Louise Sickles died on October 7, 2000 in Albuquerque. She had been a resident of Albuquerque for the past three years and a prior resident of Datil, NM for 50 years. She retired as Postmistress from the Datil Post Office in 1989. George and Lillian also owned and operated the Texaco gas station in Datil. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Sickles in 1963. She is survived by two sons, David Sickles and wife, Linda of Albuquerque and Frank Sickles and wife, Laura of Big Spring, TX; step-son, Mickey Lee Sickles and wife, Belen of Mesa, AZ; one brother, Jim Moore of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren, Melissa Thomsen, Viki Ferando, Debra Carroll, and Karen Creel; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 10:00 a.m., at Datil Community Cemetery with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Barbara J. Timmons, 64, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955 died, Sunday, October 8, 2000. She is survived by her husband, James E. Timmons; children, Michael E. Timmons, Jerry E. Timmons and wife, Linda, all of Albuquerque, J. Mark Timmons and wife, Peggy of Austin, TX and Lynda D. Heaney and husband, Henry of Lubbock, TX; ten grandchildren, Michelle, Brandon, Heather, Monica, Jason, Amy, Luanita, Christina, Steven and Bryan; sisters and brother; Patricia Goodnight and husband of Albuquerque, Shirley Hart of Irving, TX, Beverly Lockmiller and husband, and Donald Boydstun and wife, all of Clovis, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was very active in Bernalillo County 4-H throughout her life, assisting her children, grandchildren and the youth of Bernalillo County. She was a club leader, served as chairperson of the Bernalillo County Fair and Rodeo Committee and remained active with 4-H through her work with the Bernalillo County Extension Service. Barbara was also active with Harwood United Methodist Church most of her life. Barbara and her husband were active square dancers and avid UNM football and basketball fans. She loved gardening, canning, sewing and being with her family and friends. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Harwood United Methodist Church, 420 San Lorenzo, NW with Pastor Andy Houston officiating. Funeral Services for Mr. John Torres will be held on Wednesday at the St. Charles Catholic Church where the mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m.

E.S. Johnny Walker, died October 8, 2000 surrounded and supported by love from family and friends. Johnny was born June 18, 1911 to Annie Stephens and J.K. Walker in Fulton, Kentucky. He moved to Albuquerque in 1926, and graduated in 1932 from Albuquerque High School where he played football. After attending UNM and operating several businesses, Johnny volunteered and joined the Army in 1941. He served in the North African and European theaters. Returning to New Mexico in 1945, he established a business in Silver City, New Mexico, and was elected to the New Mexico State Legislature for two terms. Johnny was elected and served four two-year terms as Commissioner of Public Lands. Johnny also served as Commissioner of the State Bureau of Revenue and established the New Mexico Oil and Gas Accounting Commission. In 1964, he was elected to the US House of Representatives and served for two terms. While in Congress, he obtained approval for the establishment of the Pecos National Monument and was instrumental in the passage of the Medicare Act. He returned to New Mexico in 1969 to pursue business interests, his love of the outdoors, and horseback riding. Johnny helped found and organize the Chuck Wagon Trail Riders Association of New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Polly; son, Mike Walker; and daughter, Janet Steele and husband, Dick, all of Albuquerque; a special nephew, Jim Pierce and wife, Lila of Santa Fe; grandchildren, John Walker and wife, Stacey, Amy Holder and husband, John, all of Denver, CO, Andrew and David Steele of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Carrie and William Holder of Denver, CO. Johnny belonged to the VFW, American Legion, and was a lifetime member of the B.P.O. Elks and an honorary life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War. The family is truly grateful to Dr. Chris Miera and Presbyterian Hospice for their support, comfort and guidance to the family and especially to Johnny. A celebration of life will be held at Saint Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd. NE, Friday, October 13, 2000, 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Carole McGowan officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johnny's memory to the Albuquerque Rescue Mission, P.O. Joseph Abbott passed away October 8, 2001, in his home. Joe was an Electrical Engineer at Sandia National Labs for over 30 years. He graduated from Highland High School in the 50's, where he was an outstanding athlete, having represented Highland High School in both track and ice hockey. He later played softball, toured the handball circuits and ran in local marathons. He played bridge and was a talented violinist, having played for both the NMSO and ACLOA. Joe was a very kind and generous individual who loved life, loved to laugh and had a heart of gold. He will be missed by his son, Joe Abbott; daughter, Julie Abbott and grandchildren, Nick and Lucy Abbott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mae and Joseph Abbott, Sr. A Graveside Service will be held at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd. SE., Albuquerque, NM on Friday, October 12, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.

Jon Michael Barr, of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2001 following an automobile accident. Jon was born in El Paso, TX on June 3, 1968. He was currently a student at TVI in Albuquerque. Survivors include his mother, Laurie Barr; his father, Gerald Barr; his sister, Kelly Helmann, of Bar Harbor, ME; his grandmother, Geraldine Schreiner, of Kansas City, MO; his much-loved companion, Molly McMahon; and many extended family members. Jon was blessed with the support of many friends, some anonymous. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church. Jon will be memorialized on Friday, October 12, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6901 Wyoming NE. John "Bino" Gallegos Jr., 53, was born September 16, 1948. He passed away suddenly Monday, October 8, 2001. John was a resident of Albuquerque and Belen, and will be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan; and two brothers, Manuel and Peter and is survived by his son, Gregory; daughter, Petra; two grandchildren, Ray-Rey and Celaya; mother, Jenny; sisters, Margaret Nieto and husband, Pete, Toni Bazan, Dolores Gallegos, Grace Lopez, Helen Gallegos, Loretta Montoya and husband, Mike; brothers Rick Gallegos and wife, Margorie, Raymond Gallegos and wife, Julia, Frank 'Chano' Gallegos and wife, Lupe; numerous nephews, nieces, family and friends who loved him. Services will be conducted at La Luz de Valle Christian Church, Santa Fe and Barelas SW. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2001. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2001 with burial following at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Julia Ann Gotcher, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for two years, died Sunday, October 7, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Raish; granddaughter, Susan Sehlmeyer and husband, Brandon; great-grandchildren, Maleesa and Mikayla Sehlmeyer, all of Albuquerque; and sister, Jane Hall of Topeka, KS. Services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2001, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Cremation to follow. Sidney Gould, 65, a resident of Albuquerque for 27 years, died Monday, October 8, 2001. He is survived by his sons, Mark Gould and wife, Jody and Scott Gould and wife, Amber; daughter, Jennifer Sanchez and husband, Tim, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Zach Gould; granddaughter, Lisa Sanchez; and brother, Sol Gould and wife, Audrey of Laguna Woods, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilene Gould. Sid was a respected entrepreneur in the community, as well as a Blue-Ribbon pie maker. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2001, at 3:00 p.m., at B'Nai Israel Cemetery at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE, with Rabbi Joseph Black officiating. Cecelia "CeCe" Griffin. Funeral Service for Cecelia, 71, of Ruidoso will be Friday, October 12, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Ruidoso. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Cathy Caudle of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Cece died Monday, October 8, 2001 in Albuquerque. She was born October 16, 1930 in Ardmore, OK. She moved to Lincoln County in 1974 from Albuquerque. She was a very active member of the Democratic Party, serving as longtime chairperson of the Lincoln County Democratic Party and served as vice chairperson of the 2nd Congressional District. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder. She married Charles Griffin on September 14, 1982 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Charles of Ruidoso; three daughters, Mary Ann Roberts-Stensrud and her husband, Dave of Albuquerque, Cathy Lynn Henry and her husband, Rick of Broken Arrow, OK and Linda Kay Sudderth of Albuquerque; four stepchildren, Sharon Brown, Ted Sudderth, Karen Stilson and Lee Griffin; and ten grandchildren, John Roberts, Shannon Henry, Erin Henry, Lauren Henry, Stephen Henry, Ron Hoyl, Steve Hoyl, Shannon Griffin, Gary Baker and Melissa Lopez. The family has requested memorials to the First Presbyterian Church or the Humane Society of Lincoln County. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso.

Virginia (Odle) Jimerson, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died Monday, October 8, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Vona Lewis of Albuquerque; sons, Roy Moore of Reserve, NM and James Odle and wife, Amelda of Tatum, NM; two nieces; one nephew; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters, Virginia "Ginger" Thoma and Connie Jo Brady; sisters, Lorena O'Conner and Hallie Mae Pearson; and great grandsons, Justin Kitchens and Jared Odle. Virginia was born October 6, 1910 in a post office in Texas and came to New Mexico in a covered wagon. She homesteaded in Lea County and lived in a dugout. Virginia was a 4-H Club leader and a Sunday schoolteacher. She was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. Because of her health, she had not been able to attend. She played "42 Dominos" and Pinochle. Virginia had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She could grow everything. She enjoyed spending time with her family. A special thanks to the staff at Manzano del Sol for the love and care they gave her. Services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2001, 2:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Mark Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, John Thoma, Mike Thoma, Tim Odle, Dennis Zacharias, Eddie Moore, and Roy Lee Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Thoma, Bill Collier, Jr., Carlos Osuna, Marvin Kettle, Charlie Cobb, and Damon Pearson. Dr. Miles Johnson, born February 14, 1914, in a home in Lake Village, Arkansas, which is of historical interest today, died September 30, 2001. After receiving a degree in pharmacy at the University of Tennessee, he worked at Marine Hospital as a pharmacist and x-ray technician. There he met his future wife, Anne Haynes, a lab tech. During that time, he obtained his law degree from the Southern College of Law and was licensed to practice by the State of Tennessee. At the declaration of World War II, he enlisted as a private and became a lieutenant in the signal core. Soon after D Day, he was sent to France. After serving five years in the army, he left with an honorable discharge. After the war, he married Anne Haynes and moved to Albuquerque, where he purchased a drugstore. There they had two children. In the years to come, he decided to go to medical school at the University of Tennessee, where he graduated in 1955. Again drawn to the Southwest, he returned to practice medicine in Albuquerque. For 30 years he practiced in the Five Points area with his brother, Hensley Johnson and later at the Plasma Center. Victor, his son, married Margie Probst and two children were born to them, Andrew and Scott. Sally Jane, his daughter, resides in Albuquerque. Dr. Miles Johnson was as at home with Shakespeare and Chopin as he was with the street people. The Albuquerque Country Club was as much his abode as where the homeless lived. An open house will be held in his honor October 13, 2001 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., 1600 San Patricio SW, to celebrate Thoreau's line, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. "

Sherilyn Ann Kautz, 40, a resident of White Rock passed away October 8, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Doug Kautz of White Rock; three children, Tiffany, Julia and Ginny; mother, Faye Veal of Arvada, CO; brothers, Alan Veal and wife, Trish of Sacramento, CA, Steven Veal and wife, Josephine of Wheat Ridge, CO, David Veal and wife, Patty of Denver, CO, and Bryon Veal and wife, Peggy of Cheyenne, WY; grandmother, Virginia Veal of Ardmore, OK and grandfather, Harry Veal of Oklahoma City, OK. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held Friday, October 12, 2001, 2:00 p.m., at Zia United Methodist Church, 303 Richards Avenue with Pastor Troy Powers officiating. Georges Henry LaPierre Jr., 68, peacefully passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at Aldercrest Nursing Home in Edmonds, Washington. He was a veteran of the Army as an Artillery Chief during the Korean War and retired from the local Carpenter's Union in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a photographer and artist throughout his life and especially after his retirement. Survivors include his six children: Robin, Belinda, Anita, Michelle, Paul, Claudine; five grandchildren: Mechelle, David, Eric, Charlene and Heather; his siblings: William, Paul and Ruth. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Henry LaPierre and Marie Alice Brisson LaPierre and his son, George Henry LaPierre, III. Memorial Services were held on Sunday, October 7, 2001 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Edmonds, Washington. Rev. Haydock officiated the services. Burial will be held later at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.

Edith Lynn Kershaw Lindeman, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1988, died Tuesday, October 9, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Lindeman, MD of Albuquerque; daughters, Stormy Lisinski and husband, Doug of Tijeras, Lisa Ringhoff and husband, William of East Moriches, NY and Kristine Galbreth and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; son, Robert M. Lind and wife, Valerie of Albuquerque; stepsons, William Douglas Lindeman of Louisville, KY, James L. Lindeman of Denver, CO, Peter V. Lindeman of Cambridge, PA, and David M. Lindeman and wife, Cristi of Lexington, KY; stepdaughter, Ann Hendrix of Newark, DE; 15 grandchildren; and sisters, Vicki Craffey and husband, Martin and Sherri Billings, all of Long Island, NY, and Patti Cummings of Albuquerque. Mrs. Lindeman received her BSN Degree from C.W. Post, and her Masters degree in Hospital Administration at Stony Brook University. She was also a nurse practitioner. Her last positions were as surveyor for SERP and administrator for the Executive Development Service at the VA Central Office in Washington, DC. Mrs. Lindeman was a wonderful, dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. William "Bill" D. Lloyd, 75, and a resident of Albuquerque died September 21, 2001 while peacefully reading at his home. A private gathering of his children will be held later. Mr. Lloyd was born May 20, 1926 in Miami, FL. As an infant, he moved with his family to Yuma, AZ where he worked with his father and older brother in the family's construction business. Mr. Lloyd joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1942 and attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering Degree in 1948, the same year he was honorably discharged from the Navy. Mr. Lloyd worked as a civil engineer for the Los Angeles Dept. of Power and Water from 1948-57, when he and his wife, Mildred (Cahill) Lloyd, moved to Alaska. The couple and their children homesteaded 160 acres, working together to construct a road to their homestead, build a cabin, and "prove up" on their land patent. For most of his career, Mr. Lloyd worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Anchorage, where he was chief of the Urban Studies Section from 1975-79, and chief of the Environmental Section from 1979 until his retirement in 1990. Following a stroke, Mr. Lloyd relocated to Albuquerque, where he made his home until this year. His family said, "Bill was a truly kind man, gentle, with a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He worked incredibly hard for his family, and he could build or fix anything. Bill had an encyclopedic mind, and loved to read. His love of books rubbed off on his kids, three of his six grown children own bookstores. He will be missed by his family and his many friends in Alaska and outside." Mr. Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Linda Danielson of Bisbee, AZ, Cynthia Heath of Albuquerque and Sharon Lloyd of Seattle, WA; and by his sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sue Lloyd of Redding, CA, David and Debra Lloyd of Anchorage, AK and Steve Lloyd and Julie Drake of Anchorage, AK. Mr. Lloyd also leaves 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Dennison Lloyd and Dorothy (Ball) Lloyd; his brother, Roland Lloyd; his sister, Olive (Lloyd) McNeill; and two grandchildren, Gregory Hildebrandt, and Daniel Hildebrandt. At his wish, Mr. Lloyd's ashes will be scattered in the mountains outside Albuquerque and over Cook Inlet, Alaska on an outgoing tide. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross.

Rudolfo Lopez, age 81, a resident of Villanueva, NM since 1963 passed away on Monday, October 8, 2001 at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born in Gonzales Ranch, NM on June 1, 1920 to the late Martin Lopez and Rosalia Sena Lopez. He was united in marriage in Villanueva, NM on November 8, 1943 to Bersave Baca. He retired in 1989 from the City of Las Vegas where he was employed as Custodian for 30 years. He enjoyed ranching and farming. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Villanueva. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Rosalia Lopez; wife, Bersave Lopez on August 14, 1988; son, Rudolfo Lopez, Jr. on October 15, 1988; son-in-law, Rudolph Hasty on October 15, 1987. He is survived by sons and daughters, Alfredo Lopez Sr. of Gonzales Ranch, NM and Mary L. Hasty of Tempe, AZ; daughter-in-law, Martha L. Lopez of Las Vegas, NM; sons and daughters, Rosalia Maestas and husband, Johnny of Santa Cruz, CA, Evelyn Torres and husband, David of Las Vegas, NM, Maria DiAnna Perea and husband, James of Sapello, NM, Lucille White and husband, Ross of Albuquerque, David Lopez and wife, Diane of California, Marvin Lopez and wife, Denise of Albuquerque, Alberto Lopez and wife, Annette of Las Vegas, NM and Anthony Lopez of Albuquerque; 32 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Trinidad Lopez and wife, Josephine and Zenon Lopez and wife, Pina all of Canyon, TX, Manuel Lopez and wife, Ramona of Muleshoe, TX and Jose Lopez and wife, Bessie of Los Montoya's, NM; sisters, Piedad Blea and husband, Max and Julia Aragon all of Portales, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and many friends. Rosary Devotional Services will be conducted on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Villanueva. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Villanueva with Father Gary Ortiz as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Isidro Cemetery in Gonzales Ranch with the following serving as Casket Bearers, Alberto Lopez, Raul Lopez, Johnathon White, Kevin Lopez, Michael Solano and Alfredo Lopez, Jr. Serving as Honorary Bearers will be all his remaining sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel on Thursday all day until 5:00 p.m. where family and friends may call. Flowers will be accepted, however, donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, PO Box 39, Villanueva, NM 87583. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Mortuary, Las Vegas, NM, 1-800-479-3511.
