Dorothy L. Trotter, 89, an Albuquerque resident since 1993, died Saturday, December 26, 1998.
Mrs. Trotter was born in Pagosa Springs, CO on January 4, 1909.
Survivors include a niece, JoAnna Weaver of Espanola, NM.
Cremation has taken place and her cremains will be interred in Chama, NM.
French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Joe P. Valdez, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque since July 1998 and formerly of Las Vegas, NM, passed away Friday, December 25, 1998 in Albuquerque following a brief illness. Mr. Valdez was born in Las Vegas, NM on July 28, 1922 and is the son of the late Pablo Valdez and Adelaida Roybal Valdez. Mr. Valdez is survived by his wife, Christina G. Valdez of the family home in Albuquerque; and two daughters, Vera Jo Lujan and husband, Joe of Las Vegas, NM and Mary Romero and husband, LeRoy of Farmington, NM. Numerous other relatives also survive. Rosary devotional services will be conducted Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning at 9:00 from the same church. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery time pending. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Mortuary.

Michael John Wilkie, beloved son of Joan and John Wilkie, died at his parents home on December 24, 1998. Michael, a resident of Dallas, TX, was born on September 29, 1955. He is the dear brother of Jane Wilkie Olsho and husband, Peter Olsho and James Wilkie, M.D. and wife, Susan Andrews. Michael is also survived by a niece, Jessica Wilkie, and three nephews, Alexander, Andrew and Steven Wilkie. He graduated from Denison University in Granville, OH, and received an MBA from the University of Dallas. Michael worked in the communications industry in the United States and overseas. A memorial service will be held, Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE with Pastor Russell C. Lee officiating. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to their favorite charity or to Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain NE, 87111. He will not grow old as we are left to grow old, but he will live in our hearts forever.

Michael Leroy "Casper" Wilson, 17 years old, passed away on December 25, 1998 at his home. He was a loving and caring son who touched many hearts and lives and will always be loved an remembered. Michael is survived by his mother, Cindy L. Matthew and her husband, Darrell R. Matthew; one sister, Crystal Marie James; one step-sister, Mandy Lynn Matthew; one step-brother, Cole Lawrence Matthew. Michael is also survived by his grandmother, Mary Ellen Wilson of Beaver Falls, PA; his grandfather, Ronald L. Wilson Sr. and wife, Suzanne Marie of Cotter, AR; his aunts, Carla Jean Donnelly, Donnell Wilson; and one uncle, Ronald L. Wilson Jr. Michael had many cousins, nephews and nieces who love him and will miss him. Services will be Tuesday December 29, 1998 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Central Assembly of God Church, located at 124 Texas NE with Reverend Russ Fuller officiating. All of "Casper's" friends are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Malcolm H. Woodward, 68, an Albuquerque resident since 1950, died Thursday, December 24, 1998. He was born on November 9, 1930 in Junction City, KS. Mr. Woodward retired from Sandia National Labs with 37 years service. He enjoyed reading, music, woodworking, map collecting and teaching his grandson, Darrell basketball. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Black of Los Lunas; sons, Wauley Woodward and wife, Debbie of Bosque Farms and Robin Woodward and wife, Alice of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Darrell Black, Juanita Woodward, Shandin Woodward and Daniel Henley. Mr. Woodward was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Woodward in 1996. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Dr. Curtis Askew officiating. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Sunday, December 27, 1998 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place in the Nix Community Cemetery in Nix, Texas. Fitzgerald Donny Baros, 36, a longtime resident of Farmington, NM, died Thursday, May 21, 1998. He is survived by his mom, Becky Baros and dad, Tony Baros of Bernalillo, NM; son, Fitz Baros Jr.; brothers, Russell A. Baros and wife, Lydia of Bernalillo, NM and Timmy Baros and wife, Loretta of Bernalillo, NM; sisters, Roberta Baros-Jaramillo and husband, Lawrence of Albuquerque and Doris Baros-Carrillo and husband, Frank of Bernalillo, NM; Godmother, Marilyn Lucero; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, his special friend, Jolene Rubish, and numerous friends. He was an avid horseman and cowboy, and was the outrider for Albuquerque and Santa Fe Downs for many years. He worked with and around horses all of his life. Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, 12:00 noon, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery, Bernalillo, NM. Tracy Boyce-Herbert, 34, of Metuchen, NJ, passed away on Friday, May 22, 1998 in New Jersey. She was born March 13, 1964 in Las Cruces, to Garth and Stana Boyce. She married Guy Herbert on September 25, 1993. She was a 1982 graduate of El Dorado High School, and in 1987, she received her Bachelor's degree from NMSU. From 1987-1989, she was in the Peace Corps in Malawi, Africa. Tracy completed her Masters degree in Biology in 1994 at UNM. She was preceded in death by grandfather, A.G. Boyce; and great-grandmother, Grace A. Casebolt. Tracy is survived by her husband, Guy Herbert of New Jersey; her parents, Garth and Stana Boyce of Clayton; a sister, Micci Dill-Boyce; and a brother, Brian Boyce, both of Clayton; by her grandparents, Stan and Phyllis Bode; and grandmother, Daisy Boyce, all of Carlsbad; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and assorted kinfolk and many special friends. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, NM., with Rev. Gail Joralemon of Albuquerque, officiating. Elizabeth A. "Betty" Chambers, 66, a resident of Claremont, CA, passed away on Thursday at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. She was born in Albuquerque on February 10, 1932. She had resided in Pomona from 1958 until moving to Claremont in 1981. Betty had been a first grade teacher in Mission School with the Ontario-Monclair School District since 1974. She was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont. She is survived by her husband, Donald of the family home in Claremont; sons, David Chambers of Harker Heights, TX and William Chambers of Pomona, CA; and her twin daughters, Dianne Balas of Alta Loma, CA and Suzanne McDonough of La Verne, CA. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Graveside service will take place on Wednesday, 2:30 p.m., at the Los Lentes Catholic Cemetery in Los Lunas, NM. Todd Memorial Chapel in Pomona, CA and Romero Funeral Home in Belen, in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Dean Cheatham Jr. (Rouchet) was born September 28, 1965 in Torrance, CA, to Lawrence Dean and Delores Sami Douglas Cheatham Sr. Larry passed away peacefully at his Kaysville home, surrounded by his loving family on May 24, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer. Larry's whole world revolved around his family; riding mini bikes with his children, camping with his sons, dancing with his daughters, and watching his beloved son grow and play, spending time with all his nieces and nephews. These are the things that made Larry happy and so very special to everyone who knew him. He touched everyone with the twinkle in his eye and the curl in his smile. Larry was a very successful, hard worker, always independent and self employed. Words cannot express how much Larry will be missed, but he is etched in our hearts forever as he climbs the stairway to heaven. Larry is survived by his wife, Lahna Cheatham; and his children, Cory Lawrence Cheatham, Crystal, Cassie and Cody Chapel, Utah, and Daniel English, NM. Also surviving are his mother, Delores Sami Douglas; Janet Finch, NM; second mom, Judy Polete, UT; and mother-in-law, Lana Sing, AK; father-in-law, Carl Sharp, AZ; grandfathers, Dee Bullock, UT, Daniel Salisbury, ID; sisters, Kimm Oldfield (Boyd), Yocham; and brothers, Dee Yocham and Scotty Yocham, UT; uncle, Duane Casey (Mae), FL; nieces and nephews, Tessa, Brody, Scott, Lani, Justin, Cami, Jesse, Jacob, Scott and Allen. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Dean Cheatham Sr.; and grandmothers, Hilda May Bullock, Mae Casey; and grandfather, Glen Casey. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, 1998, 11:00 a.m., at the Fairfield LDS Chapel, 550 No. 100 E., Kaysville, UT, where friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., prior to services. Mary E. Coleman, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, May 25, 1998. Mary has passed on to be with her beloved husband, Duke. She is survived by her son, George R. Coleman of Albuquerque; daughters, Dorothy Beckner and husband, Bill of Albuquerque, and Sharon E. McComas and husband, Greg of Tacoma, WA; three grandchildren; and brother, Barker Lane and wife, Dorothy of Raymore, MO. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and she will be deeply missed. Mrs. Crucita M. Contreras, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 23, 1998. Mrs. Contreras is survived by eight daughters, Eloisa Aguilar and husband, Pablo, Beatrice Chavez, Bennie Sypien, Josephine T. Baca and husband, Tomas Jr., Sally Elasser, Libby Young, Stella Chavez and Margaret Contreras; 29 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Contreras was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon after 4:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Martha Herrera. A final visitation will be Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW, with Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Lambert Luna. Interment will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Purk, Manuel Aguilar, Leo Chavez, Frankie Chavez, Lawrence Chavez and Richard Martinez. Rita Jamharian Cook, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Friday, May 22, 1998.
Friends may visit French Mortuary-Lomas Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Prayer service will be Wednesday, 8:00 p.m.

Tena A. Davidson, age 67, a resident of Austin, TX for seven years and a former resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Duane Davidson in 1977, who she assisted as a liaison during his time in the Navy. Tena was a special kind of grandmother, she had the remarkable ability to take time for each and every grandchild, and make them feel special and unique. All of her grandchildren will cherish the many memories of the special times they shared with her. Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Clark and husband, Ken of Austin; sons, Robert Davidson and wife, Karin of Chaska, MN, and Ronald Davidson and wife, Sharon of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Audrey, Vince, Ashley, Clint, David, Rachel and Savannah; and sister, Molly Doolin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 1998 at the funeral home. Anthony S. Epifanio, 73, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 22 years, passed away on Monday, My 25, 1998. Anthony was born June 19, 1924, the son of Salvatore and Mary Epifanio in Italy. He came to New Mexico from Staten Island, NY. Anthony was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and the VFW. He had been a Building Inspector for the City of Albuquerque, he served in the US Army during WWII. Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Louise in 1989. He is survived by his children, Salvatore Epifanio of Albuquerque, Anthony James Epifanio and wife, Kerstin of Jacksonville, OR, Louise Vivian DeLorenzo and husband, Joe of Rio Rancho; two sisters, Josephine Epifanio and Dorothy Felcone; two grandchildren, Joseph and Melissa DeLorenzo. Visitation for Anthony will be held today, Wednesday, May 27, 1998, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. A second visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 1998, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, May 29, 1998, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Msgr. Douglas Raun, Fr. Stephen Skelly as con-celebrants. Virginia Fleck Gillespie, a resident of Albuquerque for 49 years, died May 22, 1998, in an Albuquerque hospital. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert S. Gillespie; and daughter, Virginia C. Gillespie, both of Albuquerque; and son, Charles S. Gillespie of Spring, TX; four grandchildren, Nathan Thompson and Kaleena Thompson of Albuquerque, and Katie Gillespie and Rachel Gillespie of Spring. Also survived are daughter-in-law, Frances E. Gillespie of Spring; and son-in-law, William M. Thompson of Albuquerque. She was born in Toledo, OH, July 2, 1920, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Fleck, and lived in Shreveport, Louisiana, and Dallas, TX. She graduated from North Dallas High School and attended Texas State College for Women and Southern Methodist University. She enlisted in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps during World War II and saw duty in the offices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, DC. For three years, starting in 1943, she worked as a civilian in the Security Intelligence Corps of the Army's Eighth Service Command in Dallas. She and her husband lived in LeMars, IA for several years following World War II and moved to Albuquerque in 1949. She was employed at Sandia Laboratories, attended classes at the University of New Mexico, and worked many years as a paralegal in Albuquerque. She was a member of St. Mark's On-the-Mesa Episcopal Church. An avid letter writer, she maintained correspondence over many years with several hundred friends in scores of countries worldwide. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's On-the-Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE, Albuquerque, on Friday, May 29, 1998, at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of sending flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society Chapter in your community.

Ruth (Rosa) C. Gonzales, 78, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Sunday, May 24, 1998. She was born September 19, 1919 in Gladstone, New Mexico. Rosa married Juan Gonzales on April 11, 1941 in Bernalillo, NM. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Juan Gonzales of Gonzales Ranch; her children, John and Cecilia Gonzales of Ft. Collins, CO, Dolores Valencia of Ribera, NM, Raymond and Sylvia Gonzales of Albuquerque, Virginia Gonzales of Gonzales Ranch, Sal and Mona Gonzales of Albuquerque, Kathy and Willie Trujillo of Ponderosa, NM, David and Susan Gonzales of La Aguapa, NM, Charla Chavez of Albuquerque, Lillian Gonzales of Tijeras, NM; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Stevan Gonzales. "A Loving Memory From US "--To our Dear Mother, Wife and Grandmother, we will miss you deeply. Please, God, go with you and rest assured that your family will go on with pride and love, forever, in remembrance of your loving hands, your warm heart, and your faithful and joyful way that you taught us throughout your lifetime. Ruth Sally Mitchell Ogle Green, 81, died May 23, 1998 at Life Care Center in Reno, Nevada, after a lengthy illness. She was born April 5, 1917 in Punkin Center, Oklahoma to Cloud James and Susanna Killian Mitchell. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Basil E. "Slim" Green in 1993. Her parents, first husband, Everet E. Ogle, infant son, Everet E. Ogle, and seven brothers also preceded her. She was well known for her fiddle music and her love of flower gardens. Mrs. Green is survived by her children, Henry and Bobby Ogle of Casa Grande, AZ, Ruth Ann and Carlton Darnell of Los Alamos, NM, Dorris Emberlin of Fallon, NV, and Bonnie Amaral of Reno, NV. She leaves 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters, Anna Van Winkle Williams of Farmington, NM and Mary Robison Chapman of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Weed, NM. Arrangements are under the direction of Walton's Sparks Funeral Home, Sparks, NV.

Dr. Daniel Everett Johnson, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died peacefully at his home Wednesday evening, May 20, 1998, ending a life well-lived. "Ez" was born in El Paso, TX, June 7, 1909, to H.O. and Augusta Mae Johnson. His youth was spent at the farm in Losantville and in Muncie, Indiana. Stricken with crippling arthritis in childhood, he was diagnosed incurably lame. The disease remitted, and he acquired a zeal for running and athletics. In 1928, he and three schoolmates at Muncie Central High School tied the world record for the half-mile relay at the Interscholastic Championships in Chicago, IL. In college, he was named to the Indiana All State Football Team. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Business Administration from Ball State Teachers College; a diploma in metallurgy from Purdue University; a Master of Science in Medical Microbiology from the University of Southern California; and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Infectious Diseases from the University of California at Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, initially stationed at Bruns General Hospital in Santa Fe, NM and later deployed to the China-Burma-India theater, where he developed clinical laboratory services and analyzed captured biological agents. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He completed military service in the Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Colonel. His civilian career, which began in the Great Depression, included newspaper delivery, furniture manufacturing, metal polishing, trucking, salvage, teaching in chemistry and microbiology, and work as a medical technician and as Deputy Coroner for Delaware County, IN. He served as Director of the New Mexico Public Health Laboratory from 1955 to 1974. His tenure brought expanded diagnostic service in virology and serology, development of branch laboratories in Farmington and Clovis, and critical planning groundwork for the construction of the Scientific Laboratory facility now in operation on the UNM campus. His interests included teaching at the UNM medical school, a long supporting role for the Boy Scouts of America Kit Carson Council, and professional associations with the Societies for Chemistry, Microbiology, and Public Health. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the China-Burma, India Veterans Association, the S.A.R. and the B.P.O.E. During his retirement, he traveled with his wife widely in Europe and Asia. Dr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Jesse W. Johnson and Lewis V. Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha Ellen (Griner) Johnson; his sister, Edith E. Haley of Ridgecrest, CA; daughter, Martha Camille Burkard and husband, Gustav; and grandchildren, Daniel Dietrich and Anika Kristin Burkard of Parker, CO; son, Dr. Gregory Everett Johnson and wife, Dr. Patricia Andrews; and grandchildren, Christopher Andrews, Ashley Camille, and Brian Andrews Johnson of Las Cruces. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Boy Scouts of America, or the UNM School of Medicine. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Rd. NE, with Pastor Larry Moss, Pastor Don Wilson, and Pastor Dave Bruskas officiating. Clara E. Levy passed away Saturday, May 23, 1998 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Jerome of Albuquerque; daughter, Diane Levy Salo, wife of Michael Salo of Placitas; brother, John C. Cory, husband of Sunny Cory; niece, Nancy Cory; grandniece, Megan Cory, all of Albuquerque; brother, Homer D. Cory, husband of Betty Cory of Leavenworth, KS; and niece, Lynda Cory Robison of Utah. She was born in Leavenworth, KS on August 8, 1919, to Homer D. Cory and Eloise Catlin Cory. Mrs. Levy graduated from Park College in 1941 and worked as a medical social worker after graduation in St. Louis. She attended Washington University, where she received a Master's degree in Social Work. She subsequently worked as a medical social worker at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She then moved to Denver, CO, where she worked at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. Later she worked at the Colorado State Health Department, where she met Jerome Levy. She became a full-time homemaker, though remaining active in community, serving as a volunteer on a suicide and crisis prevention hotline in Boulder. Upon moving to Albuquerque in 1966, Mrs. Levy became a member of the UNM Faculty Wives Club. She had been an active member of the League of Women Voters, having been a member since her tenure in Boston. At the 1998 annual meeting, May 9, she became a member of the League's Roll of Honor. She served as membership chair for many years. She was a longtime member of PEO and the American Association of University Women. The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the League of Women Voters (LWV/ABC) or the League's Education Fund, 5015 Prospect NE 87110. Memorial services will be held at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE, Wednesday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel, with Richard M. Trelease Jr. officiating.

Lawrence Lovato, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away May 25, 1998. He was born September 8, 1918 in Clayton, NM and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa who loved life, friends and just helping people. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lovato; son, Lawrence "Sonny" Lovato and wife, Rosie; grandchildren, Patricia Tafoya and husband, Frank, and Debbie Lovato and husband, Walter; and three great-grandchildren, Frank, Patrick, and Justin. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 29, 1998, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, May 29, 1998, 11:00 a.m., also at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Hillcrest Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE, 265-5959.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated this morning, 11:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Casketbearers will be David Lucero, Andrew Lucero, Joseph Lucero, Ray Lucero, Hank Cadena, and Mike Dushi.
Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
Services under the direction of Garcia Mortuary.

John Nelson, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
He is survived by his children, Alice Ann Ebert, John Nelson Jr., Nels Nelson, and Richard Nelson.
Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of cremation arrangements.
