FRIEDA C. VIALPANDO, 82, of Santa Fe died Friday after a long illness.
She was employed as a cashier in the food service department of Santa Fe Public Schools. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Nocturnal Adoration Society, St. Anne's Rosary Group, Medjugerje Prayer Group, and The Ladies Guard of Honor at St. Anne's Catholic Church, and taught CCD classes. She worked many years for the county and city elections.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Alice Smith Cynova; son, Robert Vialpando; husband, Tom Vialpando; and brothers, Andrew and Emil Cynova.
She is survived by her daughters, Isabel Beardsley and husband Laverne, Phyllis LeMaster and husband Tim; brother, Alvin Cynova and wife Jean; sister, Rose Vialpando; four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday with a rosary to be recited at 5 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rosario Cemetery.

PETRITA ORTIZ GARBARINO died Monday after a long illness.
She met her husband, James, when he was a soldier at Camp Luna. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, VFW, Elks and Small Business Association. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store for some time on Grand Avenue called Jimmy's Market. Later, along with their son, John, they owned and operated Gabby's TV on Mills Avenue. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Garbarino; sons, John G. Garbarino and Albert Garcia; daughter, Rita Garcia; brothers, Pete, Alfonso, Sostenes, Napoleon, Ramon, and Margarito Ortiz; sisters, Emilia Gonzales and Magdalena Rivera. She is survived by her daughter, Jermain Schleisman and her husband Ronald R. of Centennial, Colo.; stepdaughter, Magdeline Garbarino of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers, Sostenes Ortiz and his wife Mary of Las Vegas, N.M., and Napoleon Ortiz and his wife Cecilia of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and other relatives. RUTH E. FUENTES, 86, of Española died Wednesday after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Celestine Espinoza and Rosalie Chavez; husband, Pete T. Fuentes, sons, David and Francis; brothers, Reginaldo and Celestino; sisters, Lorraine McGowan and Elsie Meyers. She is survived by sons, Donald Espinoza of Española and Phil Fuentes and wife Sydney of Santa Fe; sisters, Lula Ludi of Las Vegas, N.M., Irene Zern and Millie Lohr of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. today at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. DOLORES BENAVIDEZ HERRERA, 83, of Nambé died Wednesday after a long illness. She was in the second graduating class of Pojoaque High School. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Juan Benavidez. She is survived by her second husband, Trinidad Herrera; son, John T. Benavidez and wife Lupe; daughter, Theresa Jain and husband Brad; sisters, Frances Montoya, Onofre Garcia, Stella Quintana and husband George, and Basilia Hofflinger; granddaughter, Lissa Benavidez; and stepdaughters, Sandra Lucero and husband David, and Carol Herrera. Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambé. DOLORES B. JIMENEZ, 93, of Santa Fe died Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Jimenez. She was a longtime member of St. Anne Parish. She was a member of La Union Protectiva Feminina, Nocturnal Adoration Society and Pious Association of the Holy Family. She is survived by her daughter, Tonie J. and husband Richard Pacheco; son, Manuel Jimenez and wife Cecilia; grandchildren, Denise Pacheco, Valerie and Jerry Schalow, Anthony Jimenez, Trinie and Mike Trembley, Angela Lucero, Martha Chavez, Celine and Jerry Martinez; special niece, Senoviva Benavidez; and many other relatives. Visitation will be held at 3 p.m. today at Berardinelli Family Chapel with rosary to be recited at 4 p.m. A second rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church. ADELA ARCHULETA DE LOVATO, 82, of Española died Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelaido and Maria Elena Archuleta; brothers, Ernesto Archuleta, Lalo Archuleta and Sostenes Martinez; and sister, Leontina Martinez. She is survived by her daughter, Nora Valdez and husband Arsenio of Española; three grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. ANTHONY R. SANTISTEVAN, 55, of La Loma died Thursday. He was a descendent of one of the oldest families in Taos. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid outdoorsman and a lover of animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Marcelina Santistevan. He is survived by his sister, Ida Maestas and husband Eleuto of La Loma; and brothers, John Diego Santistevan and wife Yolanda of Buena Park, Calif., and Wilfred Santistevan and Larry Santistevan, both of Taos. JOSE ELIJIO ARCHULETA, 64, of Ojo Caliente died Saturday after a long illness.
He was a resident of Louisville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrosio and Donelia Archuleta; and brothers, Luis and Federico Archuleta. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Fabiola Quintana of La Puebla, Amalia Martinez and husband Lino, and Tina Maestas and husband Rudy, both of Albuquerque, Inez Vigil of La Mesilla, Maria Owens of Santa Fe, Theresa Jennings and husband Larry of Louisville, Ky., Sambran Archuleta and wife Ruth of Carson City, Nev., Juan Archuleta and wife Rosina of El Guique and Ambrosio Archuleta and wife Dolores of El Duende; 10 granchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Jovanna; father, Harby DeAguero of Chimayó; mother, Lorraine Suazo and husband Jake of Santa Fe; brothers, Peter DeAguero and wife Sophie of Santa Cruz and Timothy DeAguero of Chimayó; sister, Karen DeAguero of Santa Fe; paternal grandmother, Rosario Montoya and husband Demecio of Chimayó; the mother of his daughter, Jennifer Vigil; and many other relatives and friends. ENRIQUEZ "HENRY" GARCIA, 71, of Ledoux died Saturday at Northeastern Regional Hospital. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with the younger children. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Salome Garcia; brother, David Garcia; and sister, Gloria Garcia. He is survived by his sisters, Eva Romero of Rocky Ford, Colo., Maria Vigil and Jesus Romero, Lora Vasquez and husband Ricardo, all of Ledoux, Joann McCarthy and husband Robert of Englewood, Colo., and Janet Martinez of Pueblo, Colo.; and many other relatives and friends. STEVEN JULIAN MARTINEZ, 35, of Alcalde died Friday after a sudden illness. He worked for the Española Public Schools and also for Nambé Mills and Rio Arriba County. His hobbies included fishing and the great outdoors. He danced with the Matachines de Alcalde and loved music and dancing. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Juan A. Lucero; paternal grandmother, Benita Martinez; and aunt, Frances Vigil. He is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Martinez of Española, parents, Juan and Diane Martinez of La Villita; paternal grandfather, Alfredo Martinez of La Villita; maternal grandmother, Cerila Lucero of El Rito; brother, Johnny Martinez of La Villita; sisters, Deborah Martinez and Karleen Campos, both of La Villita and Audrey Martinez of Española; companion, Concha Montoya of Chimayó; and many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan Pueblo.
