Patrick "Gerry" McCormick, "He was one of the Best. ", Patrick "Gerry" McCormick (The Old Man), a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday morning, at the age of 60, after a heroic battle with cancer. In 1948, at age 6, he moved from Blaine, KS to Albuquerque with his family. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School for 12 years. In September 1961, he married Tonia Wells. During their 40 years together, Gerry and Toni raised three children and enjoyed two grandsons. Gerry worked for Cummins Diesel for 35 years. He devoted his life and work to his parents, his wife, his children and grandchildren. Gerry was very fond of nicknames. His wife had one, his children many, and he and his grandsons referred to each other simply as "pal ". Until the bitter end, Gerry was ready with a witty quip, a practical joke, or a favorite story. He was preceded in death by his father, William McCormick; his sister, Mary Jean McCormick; and his niece and Goddaughter, Siobhan McCormick. He is survived by his mother, Marie McCormick of Albuquerque; his wife, Tonia McCormick of Albuquerque; his son, James McCormick and his wife, Tanya Montessi of Fort Worth; his daughter, Sue Simpson and her husband, Steven Simpson of Albuquerque; his daughter, Beth McCormick and her husband, Mark Mitchell of Seattle; his grandsons, Sean Simpson and Ryan Simpson of Albuquerque; his brother, Hugh McCormick and his wife, Patricia of Denver; his sister, Dolores Frank of Chicago; his sister, Marita Roeder of Denver; 11 nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 3828 4th NW (between Candelaria and Menaul) with Father James J. Suntum, S.F. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to New Heart, Inc. Richard J. McSorley, 50, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn M. McSorley; mother, Virginia McSorley Morgan; brothers, Joseph V. McSorley and Cisco McSorley and wife, Joanne; nieces, Eloesa McSorley and Meaghan McSorley, all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank McSorley; and brother, John N. McSorley. Richard was a 1969 graduate of St. Pius High School and a graduate of UNM. He was a member of Aquinas Newman Center. Richard was very active in choir, was music director at one time and loved to play the bass guitar. He retired from the State of New Mexico Dept. of Labor in 1997. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, with Father Robert Keller, O.P. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Edward T. Nieto, born February 12, 1924, went home to be with the Lord July 29, 2002. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia of 48 years. Staff Sergeant Edward T. Nieto was a proud Veteran of the U.S.M.C. from 1943 - 1946. He fought in Iwo Jima and was proud of the two Marines who came after him. His son, Sergeant Larry Nieto who fought in Vietnam and a grandson, Corporal Eddie Garcia who served in Iraq. He worked for the Southern Union Gas Co. for 33 years where he made numerous friends and acquaintances, and was known for his great sense of humor and good nature. He leaves behind a legacy of children, son, Robert Petit and wife, Teresa; daughter, Lillian Garcia and husband, George, sons, Alex Nieto, Edward Nieto Jr. and wife, Rosario, son, Larry Nieto and wife, Connie, daughter, Annie Trujillo and husband, Robert, daughter, Sophie Trujillo and husband, Steve, son, Charlie Nieto, daughter, Debbie Sanchez and husband, David all of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora Garcia of Albuquerque; two brothers, Arturo Nieto of Albuquerque and Frank Nieto and wife, Risa of Los Angeles, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be held at San Ignacio Church,1300 Walter NE, 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 2002. Mass for burial will be held on August 2, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at San Ignacio Church. Following Mass, his ashes will be scattered in the Rose Garden at Vista Verde Cemetery.

Gerardo Romero Quintana, 32, went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2002 in Aurora, CO. Services will be held on Friday morning at the San Jose Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park. Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. S.W. 243-5222.

Christopher Romero died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at the age of 32. He served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his parents, Archie Romero II and wife, Irene; his two daughters, Crystal and Alexis; three brothers, Archie Romero III and Sandra from Las Cruces, James Daniel Romero from Albuquerque, Tim Harms and wife, Cherie from California; one sister, Lillian Eoff and husband, Rob from California; grandparents, Rita Montoya from Santa Fe, Josie W. Martinez from Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews; and many aunts and uncles. Funeral Service for Christopher will be held on Friday at Calvary Chapel where service will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be George Hernandez, Adam Sandoval, Joshua Duran, Daniel Romero, Archie Romero III, Stephan Torrez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Antonio Torrez, Vince Montoya, Allen Suazo, Leonardo Torrez, Joseph Duran and Gene Romero. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.

Eileen Mae Sylvester, age 69, born October 25, 1932, died peacefully after a long illness on Monday July 15, 2002. Eileen was originally from Dayton Ohio, but had been a resident of Albuquerque for the last 29 years. She was a pioneer in the Albuquerque area, creating her own business of a power washing service. Eileen also helped many other individuals begin their own business. Eileen opened her heart, as well as her home to many homeless individuals. She is survived by her six children, Michael Killingsworth, of Corrales, NM, Nena Meadows and husband, Ron Dube, of Kyle, TX, Denise Ferguson and husband, Keith, of San Marcos, TX, Ralph (Tony) Killingsworth and wife, Louanne, of Albuquerque, NM; Steven Killingsworth and wife, Evette, of Rio Rancho, NM, Audrie Fielding and boyfriend, Andy Ramirez, of Albuquerque, NM; five granddaughters; seven grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by her two sisters, Olive Pilat and husband, Bob of Fairborne, OH, Phyllis Sollenberger of Englewood, OH; two brothers, Bob Clemmer and wife, Josephine of Troy, OH and Johnny Clemmer of San Antonio, TX; and by many other loving nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Nina Clemmer of Dayton, OH. Eileen will be remembered for many things and greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to Sandia Hospice and all their staff for providing such comfort to Eileen and the family. Extra special thanks to Sherri Fowler of Sandia Hospice and her family for all the care, compassion and support. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held, August 3, 2002 At 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bernalillo, 800 Camino del Pueblo in Bernalillo, NM. Connie H. Torres, 49, passed away in her home on Friday evening, July 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose and brother, Tommy. She is survived by her mother, Adriana Torres; three daughters, Linda Torres, Isabel Torres and Shawna Torres; three brothers, Robert, Ray, Thomas and their families; one sister; one granddaughter, Ashley; two grandsons, Dalton and Justin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rosary will be held Friday evening, August 2, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on August 3, 2002 at the church. Inez Mae Zospah, 51, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Garfield and husband, Irvin of Dalton Pass, New Mexico, Vicky Zospah, Cheryl Largo and husband Eric and Juley Zospah, all of Little Water, New Mexico; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Zospah; sons, Elijah Platero and Kyle Zospah; and daughter, Tammy Zospah. Services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Canoncito Chief Cornerstone Church in Canoncito, New Mexico. Interment will take place at the Canoncito Homesite Family Cemetery. GEORGE J. ROMERO died Monday. He was employed for more than 25 years by the New Mexico General Services Department, Building Services Division. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary Jane Romero; daughter, Mary Louise Romero; son, Gabriel Joseph Romero; grandson, Marcos Romero; and many relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Santa Fe Funeral Options Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. MABEL F. SUAZO, 71, of El Rito, died Wednesday following a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Gorgonia Jaramillo. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Suazo; children, Cecilia Ortiz and husband Orlando, Richard Suazo, David Suazo and companion Tilla all of El Rito, Betsy Allander and husband Kraig of Ojo Caliente, Andrew and Julian Suazo both of El Rito, Tina Garley and husband Pete of Albuquerque, Matthew Suazo and wife Cindy of El Rito, Mae Martinez and husband Jake of El Rito, and Martin Suazo and wife Angela of Corrales; brother, Manuel Jaramillo Jr. of Ojo Caliente; 23 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the San Juan Nepomuceno Church in El Rito. A memorial mass is pending. PHILLIP TALACHY JR., 34, of Espaņola, died Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Gonzales; and his mother-in-law, Stella Salazar. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Talachy of the home; son, Phillip Daniel Talachy; daughter, Crystal Talachy both of the home; his parents, Phillip and Emilia Talachy of Espaņola; brothers and sisters, Floyd Romero of Albuquerque, Valentin Romero of Espaņola, Ramona Jaramillo and husband Jose of Albuquerque, Johnny Gonzales of Espaņola, Renee Talachy of Espaņola, Jackie Ramirez and husband Ramon of Albuquerque, Leandro Talachy of Espaņola, Jerome Talachy of Albuquerque, James Talachy of Espaņola, and Emily Koon and husband Dwayne of Espaņola; brothers-in-law, Larry Salazar and wife Inez of Santa Fe, and Dennis Salazar of Espaņola; sister-in-law, Patsy Salazar of Espaņola; and many other relatives and friends. Lynn M. Baklini died on July 27, 2003 at the age of 46 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was a native of New Mexico, a mother of three, and spent all but ten years of her life in Albuquerque. Lynn loved to swim, play tennis, and spend time with her children. She is survived by her husband, Bob; and her three children, Amy, Sean, and Susan.

Mikel Anthony Chavez, 42, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home surrounded by his family on July 31, 2003. Mikel was a beloved son and brother, uncle and friend. He was a special person with a big heart and was loved by everyone. He will be greatly missed. Mikel is survived by his mother, Mary Helen Chavez of Albuquerque; one brother, Christopher Chavez and wife, Julie of Albuquerque; six sisters, Anna Trujillo and husband, Larry, Liz Ortega and husband, Carlos, Cathy Madrid and husband, Joe, Mary Lou Garcia and husband, John, Sylvia Chavez, and Pam Baca and husband, Leonard all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvaro P. Moraga and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Eliseo Chavez and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Chavez and Mr. and Mrs. Tony R. Baca. Mikel was a member of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce and was most recently employed at Blondie's Hair Salon. He was also previously employed at Le Parque Salon, Classique Salon, Sara's on the Promenade and Enzo's Hair Salon. Memorial rosary will be recited on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church with Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Sanchez, reciting. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9:00 a.m. also at the church with Father Frank Prieto, celebrant. Evelyn H. DeWilde born in Milwaukee, WI on July 10, 1909 passed away July 25, 2003, Just having celebrated her 94th birthday. Evelyn lived her life young at heart always showing kindness, graciousness, and a keen sense of humor and an unpretentious love for Christ. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Krause; grandchildren, Marilyn and Darrin Gillham, Sandra and Mike DeVita, Cheryl and Dale Reinhold; great- grandchildren, Timothy and Katie Gillham, Megan and Adam Duda, and Chantal and Jeremy Reinhold. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar G. DeWilde Sr. in 2000; and their only son, Edgar G. DeWilde Jr., in 1996. Robert Burns Dralle, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years, died Thursday, July 31, 2003. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie, of Albuquerque; daughter Nancy and husband, Merle Elson of Ridgecrest, CA; son Kevin and wife, Johanna Dralle of Corrales; grandchildren, Troy Finton of Cincinnati, OH, and Caitlin and Ryan Dralle of Corrales; sister, Peggy Irene Carlson of Bismarck, ND; brother-in-law, Wallace and wife, Eleanor Bailey of Leadville, CO and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and two brothers-in-law. Mr. Dralle was born to Marshall and Florence Dralle on November 24, 1920, in Brittin, North Dakota, He was a WWII veteran in the U.S. Army and a POW in Germany. His military career spanned 20 years, he retired as a Major at Ft. Bliss, Texas, in 1961. Bob Dralle spent many years in automobile, truck and RV sales in El Paso and Albuquerque. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He traveled extensively with his wife, family and friends and will be missed by many dear friends, and his dog, Beau. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Mr. Frank N. Gurule passed away unexpectedly with his wife of 62 years. Frank was 81 years old and was born on April 2,1922. He was preceded in death by his son, Raymond; and daughter Victoria; father and mother, Nicholas T. and Guadalupe Gurule; sisters, Christine Baca and Delia Garcia; brothers, Patricio Lucero, Johnnie Gurule, Epifano Gurule and Luciano Gurule. He is survived by his wife, Rochelle Gurule; sisters, Rosemary and husband, Serafin Garcia, Daisy Romero, Dulcie and Raymond Silvas, and Annie Garcia all of Albuquerque, sister-in-law, Victoria Sandeval from California; brother-in-law, Eddie Garcia, many nieces, nephews cousins and friends who will miss him immensely. He was a parishioner of Queen of Heaven Church for 49 years. He was a Eucharist minister and usher. He served 4,750 hours of volunteer work for Veterans Hospital. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W., Purple Heart Club, American Legion Post 69, DAV Ch. 3 and retired from Sandia Labs, after 40 years. He was a veteran of W.W.II, a recipient of the Purple Heart on May 30, 2003, Honorable Discharge 12-15-45. He had fife battle stars, American Campaign medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign, Efficiency Honor Fidelity, Over Land Utah Omaha Gold Juno Sward 1944, award from the city of Antwerp Oct. 7, 1944- March 30, 1945. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass will be celebrated at the Queen of Heaven Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Albert Garcia, Raymond Silvas, Luis Marques, Serafin Garcia, Orlando Gomez, and Michael Nuanes. Rosary Service will be held Monday at 5:00 p.m. at the Salazar & Sons Mortuary and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Queen of Heaven Church. Ms. Andrea L. Gutierrez, 19, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 1, 2003 and is now one of God's Angels in Heaven. Andrea is the beloved daughter to Mrs. Rosie Gutierrez and is also survived by three sisters, Melissa Gutierrez, Consuelo Rascon and husband, Leroy, Antoinette Marquez and husband, Leon; a very special loved one, Ernest Gabaldon; grandparents, Rudy and Theresa Martinez and Ray E. Gutierrez Sr.; an uncle, Dusty Gutierrez and wife MaryLou; one niece, Desiree Ramirez and one nephew, DavidRey Marquez; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Andrea was preceded in death by her father, Epifanio Ray Gutierrez Jr. Andrea was a member of the Catholic Church and a student at Valley High School. A visitation for Andrea will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. A final Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30am until 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Gino Correa. Christopher Alan Hensler, 20, who was a resident of Albuquerque for 20 years, died suddenly as a result of an accident in Santa Rosa, CA, July 24, 2003. Chris is survived by his beloved parents, Tawn Head of Albuquerque and Arland Hensler of Pacifica, CA. Surviving grandparents include Eileen and Tom Head, Wathenia Thomas, Barbara and Jim Enoch, Sonja and Robert Hensler. Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was active throughout his childhood in the Tiger Cubs, Webelos and Boy Scouts and spent several years in Little League. As he grew, he became interested in music and was in performance guitar at Manzano High School where he graduated in 2001. Chris developed a fondness for the outdoors; he spent much of his free time in the mountains or at the ocean or beach. He wrote music and poems as a way to express his feelings of the world. He was an avid player of "Magic the Gathering" game and enjoyed playing video games with his friends. On July 31, 2003 at Cloudview City Park, Chris' closest friends held a beautiful Memorial in his name. Stan Huston, 49, a resident of Edgewood, entered the presence of God, his Creator on July 30, 2003, after a two-year battle with leukemia. Beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Stan was a man of integrity and faith at home and in his profession. He approached all of life with a creative and inventive nature. Stan's dedication and passion for whatever task at hand - as a Rammed Earth contractor, or serving his church and community - was infectious, bettering all that had the privilege of knowing him. His sense of humor often caught those unfamiliar by pleasant surprise. While we mourn his absence, we celebrate his victory over death through faith in Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cheryl Beaty Huston of Edgewood; children, Shiloh and Chandler of Moriarty; mother, Mary of Edgewood; sisters, Dodie Miller and husband, Larry of Capitan and Lucinda Williams and husband, David of Istanbul, Turkey. Stan was preceded in death by his father, Don Huston. A memorial service will be held at the Moriarty Civic Center on August 3, 2003, 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons, P.O.
