Kathlyn Moore Klamerus, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2003 at her home, following a long fight with cancer. She is survived by her three sons James M. Klamerus of Henderson, NV, Thomas M. Klamerus of Monterey, CA, and Eric W. Klamerus of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Klamerus; and two grandchildren, Jamie E. Klamerus and Brooke Kathlyn Klamerus all of Henderson, NV; three brothers, William Moore, Robert Moore and Morris Moore. Kathlyn was born in East St. Louis, IL and lived in Illinois until moving to Albuquerque in 1960. After raising her three sons, she began working for the Albuquerque Public School system and retired in 1991. Since retirement, she has enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 10:00 am at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE, a celebration of her life will follow. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Her family is grateful to all her friends who have provided much support prior to and during her illness. We are particularly grateful to the Kane family who has adopted her as one-of-their-own and provided her with so much happiness and joy.

Michael Lam, 55, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Leng Lam of Albuquerque; daughter, Janet Lam of Albuquerque; son, Justin Lam of Albuquerque; mother, Quynh Tu Luong of Albuquerque; brother, Ping Lin of Albuquerque; sisters, Chan Moyers of Albuquerque and Julie Mack of Las Vegas, NV; brother, Hoa C. Lam of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Oanh B. Lam of Albuquerque. Mr. Lam was a restaurant owner and operator. He was former owner of Dynasty Chinese Restaurant, and 98 Chinese Fast Food. He worked with the American soldiers during the Vietnam War fighting the Viet Cong. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Saturday, August 2, 2003, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 3, 2003, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Ethel Moskowitz, 91, died July 31, 2003. Ethel was born in Hungary and emigrated to the U.S. in 1935. Her family will greatly miss her keen sense of humor and her infamous apple strudel. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Frank Moskowitz; and survived by her four children, Trudy Solo, Carole Albert and husband, Harold of Albuquerque, Dennis Moskowitz and wife, Christine, Allan Moskowitz and wife, Cheryl, from the San Francisco Bay area. Ethel was also survived by her 11 grandchildren, and 15 great- grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Congregation B'nai Israel, 4401 Indian School Rd NE, 87110, where Ethel was a member since 1962. Graveside services will be held Monday August 4, at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE, Rabbi Arthur Flicker and Cantor Michael Dzubin officiating.

Robert J. Narvaiz, age 55, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, passed away July 30, 2003. Robert was born September 5, 1947 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Robert and Betty Narvaiz. Robert is survived by his daughter, Robin Romero and her husband, Brandon, and son, Aaron Narvaiz; and two grandchildren, Harley and B.J. Romero. Rosary will be held Sunday, August 3, 2003, 6:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be Monday, August 4, 2003, 11:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with military honors.

Arline June Olson, 78, passed away on July 30, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Kristine; two sons, Paul and wife Cory, and Mark and wife Loretta; four grandchildren, Briana, Chloe, Benjamin and Emily; by her surviving sisters, Jane Webb and Marilyn Heckel, of Florida; and brothers, Ralph Herzog and Rudy Herzog, of Wisconsin. She was preceded by a brother, Buddy, and her parents Henry and Mabel Herzog. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Arline was born July 2, 1925 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and received her Nursing diploma from the Women and Children's Hospital of Chicago. She moved to Albuquerque in July, 1953 where she first raised a family and later worked as a nurse at the New Mexico Girl s School for many years. In recent years she has been an active volunteer at several local charities, including Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and the Assistance League of Albuquerque, where she was chairman of Hospitality House and the Culinary Group at various times. She believed in good works and gave freely of her compassion, charity and welcome to all she met. Her generosity, her love, and her smile will be forever missed by those who knew her. A public visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Services will be held Monday, August 4th, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Rd. NE, with Pastor Hal Nilsson officiating. Milledge Ray Powell of Bosque Farms, N.M. passed away on July 31, 2003. Milledge was the son of Ruth Inez Sage and Milledge Powell. He was sibling to Richard Powell, Michael Powell and Joann Perkins; and was preceded in death by siblings, "Wizzy" William Powell and Boyce Baughman. He is survived by three children, Tammy Powell, Pamelove Archuletta and husband, David and Milledge Powell III; two grandchildren, Danielle Paige Shaulis and Kenneth Ashton Zuni. Born in Albuquerque on September 28, 1943 Milledge became a resident of Bosque Farms in 1972 and operated Powell Electric. Loving and generous, he was respected and loved by many and will be missed dearly. Graveside Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, 924 Menaul NE Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Remembrance will be held afterwards at the home of Tammy Powell. John Dodge Servis, Colonel US Army (Ret.), a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. He is survived by his beloved wife, Glynn Servis of Albuquerque; daughter, Ann Urist and husband, Steve; grandchildren, John Urist and wife, Kristin, and Kelly Grice and husband, Jimmy, all of Albuquerque. Colonel Servis was born on January 4, 1916 in Clearwater, FL to Ernest and Florence Servis. Colonel Servis was a 1939 graduate of the University of Florida and in 1941 received a Master's Degree in Chemistry also from the University of Florida. In 1951, he received a Master's Degree in Nuclear Physics from Ohio State University. His career included military education at the Chemical Corps School, the Infantry School, the Naval Postgraduate School, Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. )From 1952 to 1954, he served with Joint Task Force Seven and was stationed at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory (LASL) with the Health and Safety Division. In this assignment, he supervised radiological safety operations at the Nevada and Eniwetok Proving Grounds and was certified as a Health Physicist. In 1956, he was an Atomic CBR plans officer at SHAPE. From 1962 to 1964, Colonel Servis was the Deputy Commander at the Dugway Proving Ground in Utah. He served as a Test Director for Test Command, Defense Atomic Support Agency at Sandia Base before going to Vietnam in 1965. In Vietnam, he served as Chief, Plans and Operations Division, US Army Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he was the Commanding Officer of the US Army Materiel Command Field Office at Sandia Base. Military awards include Legion of Merit, the Army Commendation Ribbon with Two Oak Leaf Clusters and numerous other service medals and ribbons. Colonel Servis retired from the military in 1971 and made his home in Albuquerque. He worked for the City of Albuquerque as an environmental scientist and retired in 1981. He was a member of the East Chapel of Kirtland Air Force Base. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2003, 11:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will take place at the family plot in Lee Memorial Park, Tupelo, MS. Memorial services in Tupelo will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2003, 1:00 p.m., at Jefferson St. Chapel of W. E. Maria "Cora" Silva, 61, passed away on July 30, 2003. She was born on May 16, 1942 in Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Silva is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Silva and brother, Gilbert Tapia. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Silva and fiance, Joey Aragon; step-daughters, Charlotte Archuleta and Marie Bowman and husband, Jay; Godson, Derek Tapia; brothers, Martin Tapia, Albert Tapia and wife, Doreen, Michael Tapia and Vidal Tapia and wife, Joyce; sister, Lorraine Tapia and fiance, George Giron; sister-in-law, Cecilia Tapia; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Maria will be deeply missed by her loving family. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Jerry Walters, born October 3, 1930, passed away early Tuesday morning at home with his family by his side after a courageous fight with cancer. Jerry owned and operated Jerry Walters Painting Co. in Albuquerque for 53 years. He was an extremely hardworking individual who took an enormous amount of pride in his work and respected his employees. At home, he was the quintescential family man who always put the needs of his family in front of his own. His warmth and generosity touched everyone who crossed his path. Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Walters; his daughters, Diane Cook, Pamela Loveland and husband Tom, and Terri Walters; and his grandchildren Garrett and Kyle Cook, Brean Lackey, and Kaeleigh and Ryan Loveland. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel.

Kenneth West, devoted husband and beloved father, passed away at home on Friday, July 25, 2003. He was a safety engineer for the Air Force for 26 years and worked at Kirtland AFB before his retirement in 1994. He was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna West; his three daughters, Kristi West, Lorna Willard, and Jodi Pierce; and five grandchildren, Katy and Micah Willard and West, Jessalyn, and Logan Pierce. He is also survived by his sister, Wanda Poulton; brother, Kale West and a family member of the heart, Donna Charles-Pinney. Memorial Services were held on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Chapel of Sunrise.

Adam Witman, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Friday, July 25, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria; sister, Mary Hertzog and her children, Maria and Jim; sister-in-law, Rita Clapper; brother-in-law, Donald Proctor; as well as many nieces and nephews. As a boy of eight years, Adam worked for a Quaker family for board and keep and attended school in Bernville, PA. Earning money for his first bicycle, he rode to his sister, Mary s home near Allentown, PA a distance of 90 miles. On December 29, 1941, Adam joined the US Army, served at Ft. Mead, MD, then transferred to New York where he married his wife, Maria. He was sent to North Africa, served in southern France, Naples, Italy and Germany. Adam served in a CCC camp in the Blue Mountains near Blair, PA. Another enlistment found Adam in the Korean War, as well as, the occupation of Japan. Sgt. Adam has been awarded several metals, decorations and awards for outstanding service to his country. A veteran of 14 years, Adam Witman, Jr. served his country well and with honor. After his discharge, Adam and Maria returned to Bethleham, PA his hometown. In 1956, they moved to Albuquerque where he worked for Prices Dairies and Burnes Guard. Memorial services will be held Monday, August 4, 11:00 a.m., at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center Chapel (formerly St. Joseph Hospital), 601 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. NE, with Father Chris O'Brien officiating. Interment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

SAMUEL RICARDO HERRERA, 71, of Santa Fe died Friday following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Herrera and son, Patrick Vincent. He was born Nov. 16, 1931, to Ricardo and Josefita Herrera. He married Evangeline Herrera on June 16, 1955, in El Rito. He was a barber, and he owned and operated Sam's Barber Shop for the past 48 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of La Union Protectiva. He loved his job and all his customers who became his friends over the years. He is survived by his wife, Evangeline Herrera; daughter, Loretta Garcia and husband Donald; son, Samuel Herrera Jr. and wife Chavi; entenados, Camille and Stephanie; mother, Josefita Herrera; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Berardinelli Family Chapel with a 7:30 p.m. rosary at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at the same church. JOHN P. LEGITS, 64, a native of Santa Fe, died Friday. He was born Feb. 24, 1939, to John and Nellie Legits. He was preceded in death by his parents; his baby brother, Socrates John Legits; and brother-in-law Tony Gonzales. He is survived by his brothers Ted Legits and wife Annie and Demosthenes Legits; sisters, Katherine Gonzales, Mary Ladue and Venus Stafford and husband Robert; and close friend, Guillermo Z. Blanco. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Cathedral, with 11:30 a.m. burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery. JOHN HALL PENCE, 80, of Santa Fe died Friday with family and friends close by. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and entered Northwestern University at age 16. He finished his undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona. He then started his working life selling greeting cards for the family business. He moved his family to California to attend Stanford University, where he graduated with a master's degree in history. He and Judith raised their four children, as well as numerous dogs, cats, birds and horses, in Los Altos, Calif., where he taught English at Cupertino High School. He loved teaching and was deeply loved in turn by his students. Once retired, he became an avid gardener, an opera aficionado, a beloved 'grandpa,' a world traveler, a reader of 'Charlotte's Web,' Proust, 'Wind in the Willows,' Nabokov and 'The Once and Future King.' He loved a well-cooked meal and was a frequent diner at Escalera and Kokoman. He loved to laugh with friends, cook good meals, drink good wine and talk politics. A quote hung on his refrigerator for years which read, 'I always thought I would die young. Now it is too late.' He is survived by his former wife of 35 years, Judith Gillfillan Pence; daughters, Judy Wise, Emily Ringer and Lisa Pence; son, Mark Pence; six grandchildren; and brother, William L. Pence and wife Elizabeth of Kansas City, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. A funeral service and Eucharist will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at The Church of The Holy Faith. Berardinelli Family Funeral Service.

PERRY QUINTANA, 64, of La Mesilla died Wednesday. Perry worked as a middle school educator for the Espaņola Public Schools for 42 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred T. Quintana, and his first wife, Elaine Maestas Quintana. He is survived by his wife, Virginia L.R. Quintana of the home; sons, Dan Quintana of Espaņola and John Quintana and wife Theresa of Denver; two grandsons; a niece whom he helped raise, Roxanne Nimmer of Las Cruces; mother, Amelia S. Quintana of Espaņola; brothers, John N. Quintana and wife Esther and Fred L. Quintana and wife Diane, all of Espaņola; and other relatives and friends. A rosary is scheduled 7 p.m. Sunday at Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. ELOY WILBERT VIGIL SR., 73, of Santa Fe died May 28. He was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Dona Ana. A private memorial of life will be held today.

Danyabeth "Beth" Arnold, age 48, passed away on August 1, 1999. She was preceded in death by her son, Albert W. Arnold; and father, Melvin A. Klapper, and "Papa" William Cole Jr. She is survived by her husband, Bob of Rio Rancho; daughters, Tammy and husband, Anthony Flammia of Albuquerque, Karen Arnold of Rio Rancho; mother, Betty Saabye of California; sisters, Bonny and husband, Leon Stock of McIntosh, NM, Janice and husband, David Caton of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Tom Klapper of Moriarty, Guy and wife, Tammi Cole of California; and one unborn granddaughter. Danyabeth was a very loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Danyabeth was heavily involved with Albuquerque Intrenation Balloon Fiesta. Visitation for Beth will be held at the Chapel of Rio Rancho on Tuesday, August 3, 1999, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 4, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. with Bob Looper officiating. Stanley J. Bienko, 83, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 17 years, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 1999. Stanley was born September 26, 1915, the son of Jan and Antonia Dragan Bienko in Rochester, Vermont. Stanley had been with the Michigan State Liquor Commission, working in their stores for over 20 years before retiring. He was Past Commander and Chapter Commander for the Department of Purple Heart for the State of New Mexico, Stanley established the Department of Purple Heart for New Mexico, he was a member and officer of the Disabled American Veterans #5, the American Legion #121, and the V.F.W. Post 5890, he was a Past Golden Rodent of the National Order of Trench Rats, Dugout #555, he was also a Fourth Degree Knight, Teatum Club Knights of Columbus, and a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol, Falcon Squadron. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie, in March of 1999. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Angeline Galwas of Rio Rancho; nieces, Theresa Budge, Bernadette Konpka, Maxine Morris, Sheryl Kennedy; nephews, Thomas Bienko, Max Bienko, and Anthony Wojtowicz, all from Michigan. The visitation will be today, Tuesday, August 3, 1999, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary being recited at 5:00 p.m. followed by the American Legion service and the V.F.W. service. These will be held in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 4, 1999, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Military honors will be presented by the New Mexico Honor Guard at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary.
