Kevin E. Boyer, 25, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away July 27, 2000. He is survived by his mother, Candace Boyer Williams of Albuquerque; sister, Viola Cox and husband, Marvin of Albuquerque; brother, Andre Boyer of Hobbs, NM; grandmother, Annie Boyer Johnson of Albuquerque; aunts, Deborah Boyer Williams of Albuquerque, Valerie Boyer Wells and husband, Roger of Paradise Valley, AZ and Sheryl Boyer Williams and husband, Daryl of Phoenix, AZ; uncles, Darryl Boyer of Phoenix, AZ, Rodrick Boyer of Los Angeles, CA and Sherwood Boyer of Hobbs, NM; and two nieces, Tautiana and Desireigh Cox. Joshua Jordan Garduno Braniff, July 18th - July 31st. Our beautiful and precious little angel Joshua you came into our life for 14 beautiful days when the Lord took you to be with the angels our hearts are broken and our lives are shattered. We miss you so very deeply. Why He took you we will always wonder. Our love for you Joshua is so very strong and will be in our hearts for the rest of our lives. You have touched our lives FOREVER with your love and we will be thinking of you and loving you until the end of ours. Katherine Bruskas, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000. She is survived by her son, Jim Bruskas and wife, Anne; daughter, Angie Scott and husband, Phil; son, Tony Bruskas; grandchildren, James Matthew Bruskas, Robyn Carrie Bruskas, Phillip Christopher Scott and Katherine Dorothy Scott; brother, George Tsaguris and wife, Helene of Tucson, AZ; and sister, Tessie Renshaw of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Bruskas was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Bruskas Sr. in 1995. She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church where she was active in various organizations and functions. Mrs. Bruskas was also past president of Philoptochos organization. Trisagion will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High SE, with Father Mario Giannopoulos reciting. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, with Father Mario Giannopoulos officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Dorothy D. Cross, 87, a resident of Albuquerque died Thursday, July 28, 2000 at LaVida Llena Health Care Center after a short illness. Dorothy was born in Pittsburgh, PA, July 8, 1913. She was educated in Pittsburgh Catholic schools and was a 1934 graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA degree. Her majors in drama and minor education would enrich her life and the lives of countless others through the years. Following graduation from college, she performed with the Pittsburgh Playhouse, worked in radio drama and was an announcer at KDKA, a 50,000-watt station in Pittsburgh and WCAE as well as radio in New York. She met her husband, Chaillos Cross, Jr. in 1937. They were married in 1939; a marriage that lasted 61 years. Their son was born in 1941 in Pittsburgh where they spent the war years. In 1946, Dorothy and her family moved west to Colorado and Wyoming. In Wyoming, Dorothy helped found new theater groups in Casper, WY. One group, -The Players- was a drama quartet, which toured the state. She also helped stage one-woman shows, helped organize the Casper Symphony Assoc., was its first president and narrated children's symphony programs. Mrs. Crow also taught speech and drama on a private basis to the young people in Casper. In 1959-60, she taught English Literature at Natrona County High School before moving to Phoenix with her family. In Phoenix, she was active in Little Theater, worked with the Arizona Repertory Theatre and served as a docent at the Heard Art Museum and as President of a Women's Auxiliary group before moving with her family to Albuquerque in 1964. In Albuquerque, Dorothy taught English and English Literature at St. Vincent's Academy and St. Mary's High School. She was the leading lady in an Albuquerque Little Theater Production, Never Too Late. She also served as a volunteer for several organizations including St. Joseph's Hospital, was active in Pan American Round Table and a local cuisine group. She served as a lector at St. Charles Borromeo for many years and contributed to St. Charles School scholarship fund. Dorothy and her husband traveled regularly with friends to San Carlos, Mexico. They visited several foreign countries and as a member of Friendship Force, they traveled to China and Korea. She is survived by her husband, Chaillos Cross, Jr.; son, Stephen and wife, Carol of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters, Lisa Marie Cross of San Diego, CA and Jennifer Ann Cross of San Francisco, CA; sister, Mary Wood of Irvine, CA; brother, Paul Devlin and wife, Olga of Palm Desert, CA; and sister-in-law, Veronica Devlin of Pittsburgh, PA. She is preceded in death by her brother, Francis Devlin. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 5, 2000, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. William M. Daugherty, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, July 30, 2000. He is urvived by his daughter, Patricia Marianetti and husband, Paul of Albuquerque. Mr. Daugherty was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and his two seeing eye dogs, Marty and Sunny. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Mr. Daugherty retired from the civil service, having worked with the FAA. He was a 32 degree Mason, and a Shriner. Mr. Daugherty was an amateur ham radio operator for 60 years and his call letters KC7EN have now joined the Silent Keys. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. Luella E. Deal, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died Monday, July 31, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene M. Hotzel of Albuquerque; sons, Donald W. Hotzel and wife, Mary Ann of Huntsville, AL and Alfred W. Hotzel and wife, Jo Anne of Delavan, WI; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Elaine Link and husband, Gordon of Milwaukee, WI, Theresa Koser and husband, Ervin of Sturtevant, WI, Betty Marklelewski and husband, Dick of Cottage Grove, WI and Dorothy Sullivan of Wisconsin; brothers, Roger Grandow and wife, Dorothy of Wisconsin, Clyde Grandeau and wife, Evelyn of California and Norman Grandow of Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Deal was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Deal; and son, Ronald W. Hotzel. Donald N. Downing, 79, passed away on August 1, 2000 at Kaseman Hospital. He was born in Coldwater, Kansas, raised in Wilmore, Kansas and resided in Belen for the past 14 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a recipient of a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion, Santa Clara Post. He retired from San Jose State in the Building and Grounds Department as head carpenter in 1983. Donald loved to be outdoors doing what he liked best, fishing and camping. He also loved all sports, especially the 49ers, which was his favorite football team. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mary Downing, and two brothers, Orlin and James. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Clara L.; children, Donna Downing of Stockton, CA, Ronald A. and wife, Flora of San Ramon, CA, Susan Downing Lawson and husband, Randy of Belen; grandchildren, Scott Metzker of Las Vegas, Nevada, Denise Settles of Washington, DC, Brian Metzker or Reno, Nevada, Colene Metzker of Stockton, CA, Donald Downing of San Leandro, CA, Wayne Lawson of Belen, Amiee Downing of Patterson, CA, Lisa Lawson of Belen, Lea Ann Lawson of Belen; and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Sunderland of Columbus, Ohio and Dorothy Purkey of Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Edgar and wife, Oletta of Odessa, TX and Robert and wife, Mary of Aiken, SC. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. "Coketta" Oldfield Jeffers, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque passed away at home after a long illness at age 55, on Tuesday, August 1, 2000. Coketta attended St. Mary's Catholic School, was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, and Regina School of Nursing. She devoted 30 years of caregiving and compassion to the terminally ill. Her many friends and family will truly miss her Irish wit and unconditional love. Coketta is survived by her husband, Virgil Jeffers; four daughters, Kathleen Weidnerm her sons, Jason Schoolcraft and wife, Roberta, and Kaleb Weidner, Debbie Beeson, her husband, Kenneth, and sons, Troy and Glenn Barber, Linda Shawn and husband, Zane, their children, Brian Oldfield, Dustin and Chandra Shaw, Cynthia Mauzy and husband, Joe, children, Justin Thigpen and wife, Wendy and Andrea Taul. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love, care, and compassion of extended family members; Sue Garcia, Melody Scobee and family, Crystal Ritchie, and the staff of Delta Hospice. Mary Loretta Estavillo Johnson, died July 31, 2000 at Sandia Hospice in St. Joseph Northeast Heights Hospital, Albuquerque, NM after a long illness. Born in El Paso, Texas on December 28, 1950, she was a long time resident of Albuquerque. Her father, Eddie H. Estavillo, her mother, Lenore Marie Gesner Estavillo and a sister, Noma G. Cordoni, predeceased her. Her surviving sisters, Rebecca V. Thompson of Fresno, California and Teresa R. Velarde of El Paso, Texas were at her bedside. Her many nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-laws, aunts, and friends will grieve her passing. She was a communicant of Hope Episcopal Church, a mission of St. Mark's-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's-on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Sandia Hospice Memorial Foundation.

Loretta Barrett Keleher, 102 years of age, the widow of William A. Keleher, died in Albuquerque, NM on July 31, 2000. She was born September 15, 1897 on a farm near Crystal Lake, Iowa. She attended a one-room county school and in 1915 graduated from high school in Britt, IA. After high school she taught in one-room schools, one of which was the same one-room country school she attended as a child. For the next several years she alternated between teaching positions and attending the University of Iowa. At the time scholarships were not available and she financed her education. In February, 1925, she graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in physical education. In 1925, she accepted a summer teaching position at the University of New Mexico as the only women's P.E. teacher at UNM, with Coach Roy Johnson heading the department. In the fall of 1927, she returned to UNM as head of the women's physical education department. In 1927, the enrollment at UNM was 596 students. In 1932, she married attorney historian William A. Keleher. Thereafter, her life was primarily centered on her family. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and for many years actively participated in parish activities. In the 1940's she frequently showed flowers at the New Mexico State Fair, occasionally winning blue ribbons. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed duplicate bridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.A. Keleher; as well as Mary Ann Keleher Rogers and James W. Rogers; and grandson, John Bureau Keleher. She is survived by four sons and their wives: William B. Keleher and Jan Reeves Keleher; Michael L. Keleher and Margaret Wills Keleher; John G. Keleher and Linda Bureau Keleher; and Thomas F. Keleher and Gretchen Cunningham Keleher. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild as well as two sisters, Mary Barrett and Ella Barrett Muehe of Mason City, IA. Rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon George Sandoval reciting. Charles -Buddy- Lafferty, 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000. He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Anna Mae Lafferty of the family home; sons, Edward D. Lafferty and wife, Donna of Tucumcari, and Bobby C. Lafferty of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Lafferty; and mother-in-law, Dorothy E. Foote of Tucumcari. Mr. Lafferty was a contractor for 16 years at the Sandia National Laboratory working in the "wind tunnel ". He also worked in the heating and air conditioning field throughout Albuquerque and New Mexico. On February 29, 1997, he retired from the Lab and the National Pipetrades Union, Local 412. As his family, we wish to thank Dr. Beddo, Dr. Seelinger, and all of the Presbyterian Hospice Staff for their kind care and help. We also want to thank all of Buddy's co-workers in Building 865 at Sandia National Labs for your faithful support and visits. Perfecto Montoya, 73, a beloved and godly man passed away on August 2, 2000 at Presbyterian Hospital of a massive heart attack. Father to six children: Gerald, Elaine, Bernie, Patricia, Donna and Miguel; grandfather to eight: Anita, Stefanie, Dominic, Veronica, Matthew, Thomas, Vic Jr. and Mariah; four great-grandchildren: Andrea, Cecilio Jr. Andrew, and Angel. Born and raised in Tecolote, moved to Albuquerque. When he was 40 married Emma Montoya for the wonderful and happy years. This man will always be remembered by having a smile on his face, would go out of his way just to make someone feel loved and secure. The Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. August 3, 200 at the French Mortuary Wyoming Chapel. The Mass is at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunication Church on Friday, August 4th. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial following the mass.

Christopher (Chris) Scott Pettit, 19, of Rio Rancho died Sunday, July 23, 2000, as a result of an accident at Elephant Butte Lake near Truth or Consequences. He was born February 23, 1981 in Farmington to Jeff S. Pettit and Desirae (Dez) Pettit. Chris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he loved playing the guitar, creating web sites, exotic cars, working out, and extreme sports. He is survived by his parents; four brothers, Anthony, Shawn, Matt and Austin Pettit, and a sister Lindy Pettit, all of Rio Rancho; his girlfriend, Dana Krill; his grandparents, Medford and Ann Pettit of Deming, and Catherine and Thomas Bond of Kirtland; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. He will be missed by all. There has a been a Christopher S. Pettit Memorial Fund set up at First Security Bank in Rio Rancho for donations in lieu of flowers.

Jimmie Lee Robinson, 71, an Albuquerque resident since 1948, died in an auto accident near Wilcox, Arizona on Thursday, July 27, 2000. Mrs. Robinson is survived by her husband, James E. Robinson of Albuquerque; son, James Robinson and wife, Charlene of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Linda Slack and husband, Steve of Albuquerque and Jacqueline Wilson and husband, Delloyd of Symrna, GA; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Lottie Stewart of Pontiac, MI and Ella Scott of Muncie, IN. Mrs. Robinson was a born again Christian and a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Bible School for a number of years. She had also taught Sunday school for over 35 years. She had a strong, abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Robinson was retired from Sandia National Labs. She was currently an instructor with AARP's '55 Alive' driving class and a part-time employee at Nations Bank. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2000 at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway, NE. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2000 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE.

Herbert F. Sisson, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2000. Services will be held Friday, August 4, 2000, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor George Morris officiating. Friends may visit with the family at French's on Thursday evening, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Ray Davis, Gene Sisson, Freddie Sisson, Greg Taylor, Art Leupold and Bob Johnson. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Herb was loved by family and many friends, and will be truly missed.

Mathew J. Sparks, age 48 of Cheyenne, WY passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2000 at United Medical Center West. He was born January 15, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa. Mathew was a magician and photographer. He married Crystal Townsen on May 19, 1995 in Albuquerque. Mathew belonged to Christian Magician's Association. He is survived by his wife, Crystal of Albuquerque; sons, Don Sparks of Denver, CO, Ben Sparks of Cheyenne, WY, Rob Davis of Portland, OR, Ryan Davis of Albuquerque, NM, Roman Davis of Albuquerque, Russell Davis of Albuquerque; daughters, Misti Sparks of Cheyenne, WY, Becky Sparks of Laramie, WY, Catherine Hoelscher of Albuquerque and Charlotte Hoelscher of Albuquerque; parents, Marie Sparks of Los Lunas, NM; brothers, Robert Sparks of Albuquerque and Lee Sparks, Des Moines, IA; two grandchildren, Aspen and Desarea. Services will be Thursday, August 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Schrader Chapel with Pastor Bob Ross. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park. Harold Edward (Ed) Strain, 70, a native of New Mexico, passed away at home on July 20, 2000. Ed lived in many places around the state, raised in Glorieta, resided in Albuquerque, Jemez Springs, Rio Rancho, and finally in Moriarty. He proudly served his country in both the Army and the Navy, and during his career was the recipient of five bronze and two silver stars. He was a member of the Jemez Springs Community Presbyterian Church, the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, and the East Mountain Fellowship Church. Mr. Strain is survived by his wife, Louise; sons, Terry and Lonny Strain, Anthony Strain and his wife, Wendy; brothers, David and his wife, Louise, Clyde and his wife, Ida Mae; sister, Elsie Rodgers; grandchildren, Erick, Andrew, Rebecka and Teresa Strain, Adam, Amiee and Dalton Strain, and Ryan Strain. A Memorial service will be held at the Jemez Springs Community Presbyterian Church, State Rd. 4, Jemez Springs, NM, on Saturday, August 5, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Rd., Santa Fe, NM, Monday, August 7, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Mountain Fellowship Building Fund, PO Box 3603, Edgewood, NM 87015. Burl Zimmerman, age 92, of Clinton, Tennessee, formerly of Tullahoma, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2000 at Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Clinton, member of Clinton Lions Club, and also a Mason. Burl graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. & M.S. degrees in Architectural Engineering and was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He retired from the United States Navy Reserves as a Captain. He was an avid photographer and woodworker. Born March 10, 1908 in Worth, Missouri. Preceded in death by wife, Vandetta Pierce Zimmerman; parents, George W. and Abbiegail Adkins Zimmerman. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Alan B. and Cherry Zimmerman of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Samuel A. Zimmerman, Megan M. Zimmerman, Daniel A. Don Thomas officiating. Interment will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2000, at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton, Tennessee. Memorials may be made to Lions Volunteer Blind Industry, 758 W. Lloyd Rafael Aragon Sr., "The King ", passed away August 1, 2001, in the line of duty. He was born September 24, 1964 in Las Vegas, NM., to Amadeo and Veronize Aragon. Lloyd was a devoted law enforcement official. He served in the Army National Guard, had been employed by the City of Grants Police Department in the K-9 unit for eight years, and spent the last eight years in the K-9 department for the New Mexico State Police. Lloyd was actively involved in coaching children's little league, football, baseball, and loved to hunt and fish. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Matilda Herrera, and is survived by his wife of 14 years, Monica "Kim" Aragon; son, Lloyd Aragon Jr. (11), and Audrianna Aragon (5), all of the family home in Grants; father, Amadeo Aragon of Ilfield; mother, Veronize Aragon of Grants; sister, Melinda Aragon of Grants; brothers, Gilbert Aragon and wife, Crystal, Matthew Lopez all of Grants and Shawn Aragon of Ilfield; nieces, Veronica Aragon and Monica Vigil both of Grants; nephews, Michael Ramirez of Los Chavez, Sam Gonzales of Grants, Gilbert "Slick" Aragon Jr. of Grants; and many other loving uncles, aunts, cousins, family members and friends who loved and will always remember him. All Services will be held in the Grants High School Gymnasium. An evening Visitation was held on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2001, with Pastor Danny Almanza officiating. Ruby M. Patrick "Pat" Barth, August 20, 1920 - July 26, 2001. Born to Stuart and Ruby M. Patrick in her historic family town of Roslyn, Washington. She is survived by her beloved husband, Arthur "Bill" Barth of 58 years; her two children, Gary Barth and Janet Barth-Esparza to whom she devoted her life's energy and love up to her final moments. She had two grandchildren she adored, Jenna and Matthew Esparza, son-in-law, David Esparza and special family friend, Helen Hawkey. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Lillian "Abby" Coleman, Elizabeth "Libby" Sinnott, and brother-in-law, Norman Sinnott, of Fremont, CA. She loved and adored her sisters and they did her. She also leaves behind sister-in-law, Miriam Barth-Hyde and numerous nieces and nephews. She always adored her many companion dogs throughout her life, leaving behind Robbie and Lacey. In her earlier years, she was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed many lifelong memories of her sorority sisters. Her words in her final hours were so soft and tender, gentle and loving. She knew she would find quiet comfort as she was saying her final good-bye. Mom serenely passed on her strength by asking us to be strong. She told us to stop and smell the flowers, for this is what she would do in Heaven. Mom, God's angels came to take you and we sensed the spirit of it all as you left us for this journey. You left us knowing how much you truly loved us. Your heart and spirit will be with us for as long as we all live. We love you and will always miss you. Special thanks to the nurses and physicians of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital for incredibly compassionate care. Pat was a generous person that requested donations in her memory to favorite charities. A Family Memorial Service is planned at a later date at Lake Cle Elum, WA, a special place of many happy childhood memories.
