Lela Frances Holland, 73, longtime resident of Mountainair, NM passed away on August 6, 2001 in Mountainair. Lela was born on July 25, 1928 in Tioga, TX to Danel and Annie Lee (Hice) Norvell. Lela was very involved with people, to list out a few of her involvements in her life, Lela was a retired school teacher in Mountainair where she taught Business Education, she sponsored classes, cheerleading. She was very active in First Baptist Church Mountainair, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the Choir, worked in VBS. Lela was a member of The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, in 1981-1982 she was the first female Mayor of Mountainair, she loved to make crafts, sew, quilt, she had a great passion for bowling, an activity that she enjoyed with her daughters and her grandchildren. Lela will be greatly missed by her family and friends and the community of Mountainair. Lela was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Beulah; three brothers, Dudley, Johnny and Ellis Norvell; and her former husband, Joseph Holland. Lela is survived by four daughters, Patricia Holland of Albuquerque, Robin and her husband, Mike Sandler of Albuquerque, JoHelen and her husband, Ken Cason of Magdalena, NM, Betty Ann Holland of Escobosa, NM; two brothers, Cuin Norvell and Sam Houston Norvell; three sisters, Betty Ann Singleton, Molly Neel, Coleen Norvell; ten grandchildren, Shawn, D'Shannon, Holly, Brandy, Tyrel, JoeDon, Dusti, Catlin, Isaac, Richard; and one great-grandchild, Cuin. Services are scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Mountainair, NM. Bro. Randy Webb, Bro. Don Hayhurst and Bro. Frank Money will be officiating the Service. Lonnie Patrick Kramer, 62, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Saturday, August 4, 2001 at Conchas Lake, NM. He was born in Rapilje, MT and in 1956 joined the US Air Force where he served proudly. Lonnie married Petrita Otero in 1960. He worked as an electrical inspector with the state of New Mexico and as an electrical contractor in his own business, Kramer's Electric. The last years of his life he worked for the Corp. of Engineers at Conchas Lake. Lonnie loved and cherished Conchas Lake to the very end. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1517, Elks Lodge, American Legion Post #19, and St. Bernadette Catholic Church. As Lonnie's kids and grandchildren would say, he was the World's Greatest Dad and Grandpa. He will be greatly missed and loved forever. Yvonne Julie Lechuga, beloved daughter and sister, was delivered at 4:16 p.m. and went to be with our Lord at 4:42 p.m., Sunday, August 5, 2001. Even though Yvonne's time on earth was short, she will live forever in our hearts. We love you. Ann V. Magnuson, passed away on August 3, 2001. Mrs. Magnuson was born April 22, 1929 in Grafton, ND. She was one of four children born to Clara and Elmer Geiger and grew up on the family farm. Ann married Ernest L. Magnuson on May 27, 1951 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She has lived in Albuquerque for the past ten years and in the Gallup area previous to that. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest; daughters, Barbara Lincoln and her husband, Michel of Gaithersburg, MD, Marie Foster and her husband, Harold of Orem, UT, Paula Thomas and her husband, Scott, Kathleen Kent and her husband, Scott; her son, Daniel Magnuson all of Albuquerque; sisters, Doris Braden of Seattle, WA and Donna Menzies of Cavalier, ND; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. She will be greatly missed by her family and the friends who loved her. Russell Leonard Malone died July 25, 2001 in Tucson, AZ. He was born May 16, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa to Russell B. and Irene Catherine (Flynn) Malone. He is survived by his former wife, Adeline Malone and his five children, sons, Michael (Sally), Terry (Susan), Kevin (Melia); daughters, Melodie (John) and Dawn (Bobby); his grandchildren, Kristen, Eric (Jessica), Molly, Sunny, Jenna, Renee (Marvin), Will, Kendra, Davin, Tyler, Chelsea, Dylan, Michelle, Bryan, Danielle, Marissa, Bobby, and Mackenzie; his great-grandchildren, Madison, Mariah, Isiah, Jodeci, Payton, Hayden and Alexa. Russ served his country in WWII as a B-17 aerial gunner with the 548th Bombardment Squadron. His gregarious personality made him instant friends wherever he would go. Rosita Felipita Ortiz, 60, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, August 7, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Arthur P. Ortiz; son, Anthony A. Ortiz and fiancé, Elisia Naccari; daughter, Elizabeth Griego and husband, Raymond, all of Albuquerque; son, Michael S. Ortiz and wife, Mary Ann of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Antoinette Griego; great-granddaughter, Adriana Charlie; great-grandsons, John Michael Montano, Anthony Montano, Elija Charlie and Gabriel Montano; sisters, Rachel Leyba and husband, Zaqueo of Albuquerque, Perlina Baldozier of Grand Junction, CO, and Berna Baca and husband, Phillip of Price, UT; brothers, John Vigil and wife, Mary of Palm Springs, CA and Elmer Vigil and wife, Alice of Helper, UT. Rosita was a member of the Women's Ministry for Valley Gospel Tabernacle. She worked for 35 years as a health nurse at Presbyterian Hospital, and retired in 1995. Rosita dedicated her entire life to serving the Lord. Grace Elizabeth (Young) Richardson, local resident of Owasso, died Thursday, August 2, 2001, at the age of 89 years. She was born September 5, 1911, at Schuyler, Nebraska, to Frank and Mary (Motacek) Young. She was reared and educated in the Columbus, Nebraska area, and graduated with the Columbus High School Class of 1929. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska graduating in 1934 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Education. She was married June 10, 1934, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to William N. "Bill" Richardson. In 1948, they moved to Albuquerque, NM. Grace began teaching school in 1954. She graduated in 1961 with her Masters Degree in Counseling and Guidance from the University of New Mexico. Most of her teaching career was at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School in Albuquerque, where she taught Latin and Social Studies before becoming their counselor. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including gardening and reading. She and Bill traveled to Alaska, New England, New Zealand, and Australia, before making Owasso their home in 1997. Loving family members include son and daughter-in-law, Bill F. and Flo Richardson of North Dallas, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Sid and Ken Foster of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Joy Richardson Biscotto and her husband, Mark, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Jay Richardson and his wife, Heather, of Frisco Texas, Pat Foster Golightly and her husband, Ryan, of Owasso, Michael Foster, of Owasso; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Leah Richardson, and Sara Biscotto; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Lloyd Naden, of Franklin, Nebraska; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Orrin and Vivian Richardson, of Mission, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Richardson, on July 24, 1999; and one sister, Edith Williams. Beulah M. "Bea" Smith, 75, beloved mother of Elizabeth Hermann, a resident of Rio Rancho passed away on Monday, August 6, 2001. Bea was born July 10, 1926 the daughter of George C. and Elizabeth Akeman Smith in Hamilton, Ohio. She had worked as a secretary for many years and retired from the J. C. Penny Company in 1994. Bea was a member of St. Paul's United Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth (Akeman) Smith; and one sister, Lucille Wozniack. Bea is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Hermann and son-in-law, Dr. Thomas Hermann of Rio Rancho, NM; three grandchildren, Kevin, Lindsay, and Brandon Hermann; one brother, Elmer L. Smith of Miamisburg, OH; four sisters, Rebecca Bruck of Bradenton, FL, Pauline Green of Hamilton, OH, Dorothy Webb of La Mesa, CA, and JoAnn Lakes of Palmetto, FL; 17 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was a beloved mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren were her hobby. Marjorie Ann Spradley, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Thursday, July 26, 2001. She is survived by her children, Robert Spradley, Patricia Spradley and Susan Neas; and grandchildren, Weslea Neas, Jennelle Spradley, Autumn Neas and Marshall Spradley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilton E. Spradley (Pat). Marjorie was born in Stephensville, TX, January 29, 1921. She graduated from University of Texas in Austin with a business degree. Marjorie married Pat and resided in Albuquerque. Together they owned and operated Acoma Pet Center for 44 years. The highlights of her life were her family and her grandchildren. Cipriano Tapia, 88, a longtime Vaughn, NM resident died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at Guadalupe Medical Center following an illness. Mr. Tapia was born August 23, 1912 in Vaughn to the home of Cipriano and Genoveva Griego Tapia. He was reared in Vaughn. Cipriano married Guadalupe Pena on August 18, 1940. Mr. Tapia retired as an inspector for the New Mexico Motor Transportation Department. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Vaughn. Cipriano was preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Tapia on December 11, 1998; his parents; a brother, Isidore Tapia; four infant children; and one great-grandson. Survivors include three sons, George and wife, Josie Cordova of Logan, NM; Cipriano E. and wife, Londa Tapia of Commerce City, CO; Dennis Tapia of Vaughn; three daughters, Lilia and husband, Tony Gallegos, Floraida Tapia, and Linda Castillo and husband, Lorenzo all of Vaughn; and a grandson, Luis Castillo whom he raised; also surviving is a sister, Carmen Drager of Topeka, KS; and an aunt, Cleo Sanchez of Clovis. Other survivors include 31 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lawrence D. Vigil passed away August 7, 2001. He was born January 10, 1929 in Albuquerque, NM. Lawrence graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was both licensed in engineering and surveying, practicing primarily in sanitary engineering. He was a Board Member with the New Mexico Board of Registration for Engineers. Lawrence practiced his profession in the private sector and established his own firm in 1979. He also served in the United States Marine Corps. from 1946-1947, served on the Council of the Village of Corrales, and was a member of San Ysidro Catholic Church. Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Karla M. Vigil; two grandchildren, Jared D. Vigil, and Mikayla M. Vigil; eight sisters; two brothers, and other family and friends who loved and will miss him. ALBERT CORDOVA, 81, of Truchas died Monday. He was born Dec. 17, 1919. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gelacia and Macimiano Cordova; and brothers, Victoriano Cordova and Ernesto Cordova. WOODFORD H. DULANEY JR., 75, of Santa Fe died Sunday due to complications stemming from Parkinson's Disease. He was born Aug. 22, 1925, to Woodford Hector Dulaney Sr. and Louise De Relle Dulaney in Louisville, Ky. He graduated from Phillips Andover Academy. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. He graduated from Yale University in 1950. He was a member of the Holy Faith Episcopal Church. He served on the boards of Santa Fe Performing Arts, Santa Fe Symphony, New Mexico Repertory Theater and Santa Fe Pro Musica. He founded the Santa Fe Fund for the Arts. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Brooke Garlove Dulaney of Santa Fe; children, Jane Newton and Roger Dulaney of Louisville, Ky., Margaret Dulaney Balitsaris of Bucks County, Pa. and New York City, Lee Cochran Dulaney of Seattle and Woodford H. Dulaney III of Minneapolis; step-children, Marc Karzen, and Amy Brooke Karzen, both of Los Angeles; grandchildren George, Maggie and Charles Barrett of Louisville, Ky.; and two step-grandchildren, Kristopher Karzen and Annabelle Karzen, both of Los Angeles. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Holy Faith Episcopal Church. Burial will be held at the Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Ky.
JAMES FRED GALLEGOS, 38, of Guadalupita died Sunday. He was born April 23, 1963, to Jimmy Gallegos and Nora Arguello Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Federico and Serafina Gallegos; and maternal grandparents, Erinello and Angelina Arguello. He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Nora Gallegos of Guadalupita; sisters, Lola Gallegos and companion Mario Aceves of Clovis, Darlene Sandoval and husband Ramon of Las Vegas, N.M., and Betsy Chavez and husband Steve of Portales; brother, Erineo Gallegos and wife Diane of Portales; half-sisters, Ernestine Pacheco and husband Max of Chacon, and Brenda Archuleta of Rawlins, Wyo.; mother of his children, Geraldine Gallegos of Bernal; children Cassie Gallegos, Matthew and Freddie Gallegos, all of Bernal; grandchildren Kayla and Jordan Gallegos; nieces and nephews, Crystal Diaz of Clovis, Junior Baldemar Diaz of Portales, Heather Diaz of Clovis, Ernesto Sandoval, Magdalena Sandoval, Deanira Sandoval, and Leona Sandoval, all of Las Vegas, N.M., Jonathan Gallegos, Michael Chavez, and Kirsten Gallegos, all of Portales, Jacob Pacheco, Amos Pacheco and Amanda, all of Chacon; and numerous other relatives and friends. NORMAN C. LEIN, 71, of Santa Fe died Sunday following a brief illness. He was born in California. He moved to New Mexico in 1949. He received his civil engineering degree from the University of New Mexico in 1954. He then moved to Santa Fe to work for Robert E. McKee Construction. In 1972 he and Stan Davis founded Davis and Associates Inc. where he continued to work until his death. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Ciddie) Lein; daughters, Lindalie (Pinky) Halama, Jennifer (Ginger) Rogers and Kathryn (Kaky) Lein; grandchildren, Katy, Christopher and Carl Halama, and Eric, Kristine and Valerie Rogers; step-mother, Ethel Lein; and nieces Terry Davis and Carol McLaren. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church. Donald Oscar "Chief Boats" Clingenpeel, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Monday, August 5, 2002. Don has gone to our Lord, after losing the battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie Clingenpeel; children, Cynthia Clingenpeel of Belen, Gail Adams and husband, Richard of Yuba City, CA, Ted Clingenpeel and wife, Fern of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tammie Clingenpeel of Albuquerque, Marc Clingenpeel of Albuquerque, and Shanin Adams of Yuba City, CA; and younger sisters, and; brothers, Arthur Clingenpeel and wife, Elsie of Albuquerque, Leonard Clingenpeel and wife, Nellie of Mapleton, IA, Russel Clingenpeel and his wife, Phyllis of Sioux, NE, Irene McClellan and husband, Ed of Onawa, NE, Leila Shupe and husband, Ernest of Turin, IA; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Joyce Bugg of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Clarence Clingenpeel of Iowa. Don was born on December 21, 1919 in Sioux City, IA. He served in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1960, making Albuquerque his home. During his naval career, Don survived the Pearl Harbor attack while aboard the USS West Virginia on December 7, 1941 receiving the Purple Heart for his injuries. In 1961, he became employed with the US Postal Service in Albuquerque and retired after 17 years of service. Donald will be sorely missed by those who knew him especially for his knowledge and character. James E. Ellis, 48, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Jody; son, Andrew, Aaron, Darlene and Patrick Jr.; parents, Roger and Marianne Ellis; sisters, Carol and Susen, all of Albuquerque; brother, John; and nephew, Matthew Ellis of Simi Valley, California; aunt and uncle, Christel and Albert Boss of Wiesbaden, Germany; aunt, Joan Ellis; and cousins, Robert and Debra. Jim had many friends and business associates who will miss him. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2002 2:30 p.m. at the Alumni Chapel on UNM campus.
