ALBERTO LOPEZ, 92, of Santo Niņo died Friday.
He was born in El Rito. He retired after 30 years with the Zia Co. in 1973. He was a member of the Holy Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucinda Lopez; son, Tony; four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by sons, Albert Lopez Jr. and wife Eufelia of La Mesilla, Henry Lopez and wife Susie of Alcalde, and Orlando Lopez and wife Agnes of Hernandez; daughter, Gloria Padilla of Fairview; sister, Margaret Leyba and husband Fred of Espaņola; 15 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been held.

EDUMENIA MARTINEZ, 81, of La Villita died Friday after a short illness.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She helped raise her brothers and sisters and loved to take care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Hilario Martinez; children, Bernardita Martinez, Jose "Eppie" Martinez, Alex Martinez and Angie Roybal; parents, Cruzita and step-father Cornelio Valdez; sister, Frutosa Dupree and husband Fred; and brother, Orlando Valdez. She is survived by her son, Eveardo Montoya, Reyes Martinez and wife Rafaelita; brothers and sisters, Alfonso Valdez and wife Rachel, Floyd Valdez of La Villita, Alexandra Martinez and husband Jose of Tacoma, Wash., Elias Valdez and wife Gloria, Richard Valdez and wife Angie, Miguel Valdez and wife Teresa, all of La Villita, Christella Trujillo of Missouri, Clyde Valdez and wife Lucille of Alcalde, Ruben Valdez and wife Ginnie of La Villita, David Valdez and wife Grace of California and Irene Valdez of Espaņola; 13 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Mass will be celebrated at noon today at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow at the La Villita Catholic Cemetery.

JOSE R. MARTINEZ, 92, of Los Brazos died Sunday.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emiliano and Adeliada Martinez; and wife, Manuelita A. Martinez.
He is survived by his children, Clorinda N. Sanchez and husband Medardo, Jose Antonio Martinez and wife Cordy, Sylvia Mercure and husband Delfin, all of Los Brazos, and Margie Garcia and husband Isidro of Moriarty; a granddaughter whom he helped raise, Carla Martinez of Chama; 18 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 4:30 p.m. today followed by a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at the San Jose Church in Los Ojos. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the same church with burial to follow at Los Ojos Cemetery.

ELVIRA PACHECO, 81, of Mora died Friday.
She was born in El Carmen. She enjoyed tending her garden. She was a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister to the community. She taught school for several years at various locations throughout the community of Mora. After her husband died, she continued to operate the family business.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maximinio Pacheco; daughters, Mary Lina and Magdaline Pacheco; and parents, Canuto Sandoval and Francisquita Vigil.
She is survived by her daughters, Isabel Duran and husband Alvin of Angel Fire, Lina Roybal and husband Orlando of Mora, and Claire Romero and husband Michael of Santa Fe; sons, Leo Pacheco and wife Sophie of Monte Aplanado, Joseph Pacheco and wife Doris of Mora, Raymond Pacheco and wife Gina of Cleveland, Max Pacheco and wife Ernestine of Chacon; 20 grandchildren; sisters, Victoria Martinez of Flagstaff, Ariz., Ida Archuleta of El Carmen, Sister Mary Carmen Sandoval of Mora, Gloria Lopez and husband Jake of Flagstaff, Ariz., Eloisa Olivas of Holman, Elisea Rodriguez and husband Louie of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Emilio Sandoval and wife Leola of Denver, Colo., Martin Sandoval and wife Mildred of El Carmen and many other relatives and friends.

POLO C. SENA, 75, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Sunday.
He attended Harrington Junior High and graduated from Santa Fe High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves as a radioman. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Lyman K. Swensen, which was home ported in San Diego. He returned to Santa Fe in 1949 and worked at Santa Fe Motors Co. as an auto mechanic. He was called into active service in the Navy in 1950 and became a boatswain's mate and a Navy diver, stationed aboard the U.S.S. James E. Kyes. He served in and out of Korea until 1952. He received orders for inactive duty and again returned to Santa Fe. He returned to work at Santa Fe Motors Co. as a mechanic and tow truck operator. In 1958, he opened the El Paso Dixie Service Station on Rosario Boulevard and in 1960 he opened another station at 1965 Cerrillos Road. He was the Santa Fe High School Auto Mechanic Instructor from 1964 to 1984. In 1964 he was recruited into the Santa Fe Volunteer Fire Department, ending his service in the department in 1986 as Deputy Chief. Since childhood he enjoyed trout fishing, especially on the Pecos River. He also had quite an interest in aviation and military history.
He is survived by his wife, Rosina Sena; children, Bernadette Gonzales and husband Bob of Las Cruces, Mark Sena and wife Trish, Louie Sena and wife Yvonne, and Tessa Inumerable and husband David, Lucille Segura and husband Paul, all of Chula Vista, Calif., Johnny and wife Jennifer of Warner Springs, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Adrian Sena and wife Lourdes of Santa Fe, Eddie Sena of South San Francisco, Calif., John Sena and wife Louise of Albuquerque, and sister, Tessa Eastridge and husband Larry of Alameda, Calif., and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at McGee Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at a time to be announced on Wednesday followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Health Care of Santa Fe, 1701 Old Pecos Trail, Suite B, Santa Fe, NM, 87505.

VITO A. VALDEZ, 81, of Youngsville died Saturday after a long illness.
He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Abiquiu Dam, a longtime member of the Youngsville Cattle Grazing Association and a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Santo Tomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Angelica S. Valdez; brothers, Cristobal and Arturo; sisters, Elena and Teofila; parents, Belarmino and Elvira Valdez and second set of parents who raised him, Gumicindo and Pablita Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Arcelia Valdez of Coyote; sons, John Valdez of Youngsville, Abel Valdez of Coyote; daughter, Corrine Garcia and husband Mike of Santa Fe; step-daughters, Beverly Martinez and companion Max Martinez, Genevieve Martinez and husband Larry, and Annette Morfin and husband Benito, all of Coyote; brothers, Polito Valdez of Riverside, Calif., Serafin Valdez and wife Lucy of Canones; sister, Ramona Valdez of Ranchitos; 14 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

ALICE "LA GUERA" MENDOZA DE CHAVEZ, 31, of Santa Fe died Sunday. She was preceded in death by her children, Andres and Maritza Uranga.
She is survived by her husband, Adalberto Mendoza; their children, Amanda and Adal Jr., all of Santa Fe; companion, Jose Uranga; their son, Jesus Uranga; father, Erminio Chavez, all of Santa Fe; mother, Isabel Martinez of Espaņola; sister, Nellie Duarte and husband Modesto of Albuquerque; brothers, Melvin Chavez and wife Robin of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Carlos Chavez and girlfriend Neva Arguello of Santa Fe; and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. JOHNNIE DAVIS of Santa Fe died Tuesday after a brief illness.
He retired from the National Park Service after 26 years of service and was employed by Wal-Mart for more than 13 years.
He is survived by his wife, Selma Davis; children, Gail Hamilton and Gordon Troelsen; three grandchildren; sister, Virginia Council; and many other relatives.
