Raymond E. Sena

Age 58, a participant of Easter Seal Santa Maria El Mirador in Alcalde, NM, died peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Espanola Hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Valdez) Sena. He is survived by his father, Ramon Sena of Colorado Springs, CO, and brother, Daniel Sena of Santa Fe. Raymond was awarded a surrogate healthcare guardian, Steve Martinez of Fairview. Mr. Martinez and wife Deanna were faithful and very involved with his care. Raymond was a special angel that was cared for and nurtured by the staff that worked in the home where he resided. When Raymond was first admitted to his new home, all his caregivers were drawn to him because of his calm demeanor and natural smile. Raymond’s warmth and spirit will live on in the hearts of those that had day to day contact with him. There will never be words to express how much he was loved and will be missed. The family of Raymond E. Sena has placed their trust in DeVargas Funeral Home of the Espanola Valley.

MIKE VIGIL

Age 72, a resident of Santa Cruz, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2008 following a sudden illness. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Jose and Felipa Vigil; brother, Juan F. Vigil Sr.; grandson, Julian Vigil; parents-in-law, Ramon and Isabelita Romero and brothers-in-law, Raymond Romero, Joe “Pino” Vallejos, Howard Weaver and Raymond Romero. Mike was Oñate in 1974 and 1995. He retired from the City of Española and enjoyed dancing, politics and sports. Mr. Vigil is survived by his wife, Jessie Vigil; children, Elizabeth Montoya and husband Tom, Joseph Vigil and wife Denise, Michael Vigil and wife Dorothy, Jeff Vigil and wife Lois, Raymond Vigil, Debbie Olivas and husband Robert, Mary Bauman and husband Adam and Teresita Vigil; sister and brother-in-laws, Sylvia and Roman Aragon, Melva Romero, Ruby Naranjo, Danny and Debbie Romero; favorite nephews, Steven Romero and Anthony Naranjo; brothers and sisters, Pete Vigil and wife Kim, Eppie Vigil, Gus Vigil and wife Elaine, Pita Vallejos and Marie Vigil; sister-in-law, Carol Vigil; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Serving as pallbearers, Tom Montoya, Robert Olivas, Adam Bauman, Steven Romero, Mark Vigil and Anthony Naranjo. Aurelia (Maria) Serna

Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, a lifelong resident of El Rancho, born August 31, 1923 passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 19, 2008. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jacob; parents, Adan and Onofre Serna; sister, Eloisa Salazar; brothers, Adan Jr., Eloy, Ruben, Willie, and Felix Serna and wife Rita. Aurelia was a loving mother who enjoyed the simple joys of life. She gave her gifts of unconditional love and unselfishness and was a source of strength to her family. Aurelia is survived by her sons, Chris and wife Gina of Moriarty, Anthony and wife Monica of Albuquerque and Joseph Serna and wife Sharon of Chimayo; daughters, Mary Frances Gonzales (Benjamin) of Santa Fe, Elizabeth Serna (Richard) of Albuquerque and Eloisa Austin of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her sisters, Ida Pacheco of Los Alamos and Angie Martinez and husband Manuel of Pojoaque; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Serna of Arroyo Seco and Joann Serna of Pojoaque, special niece, Marie Scorcia, 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews and friends. The following will serve as pallbearers, Dominic and Marvin Gonzales, Jonathan and David Tapia, Allen Dugger and Patrick Duran. HENRY J. MARTINEZ

Age 77, a resident of Española, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Feliz Martinez; sisters, Theresa Baros and Grace Benavidez; brothers, Ben and Freddie Martinez. Henry retired after many years of service as a security guard at Mason & Hanger in Los Alamos. Mr. Martinez is survived by his children, Yvonne Montoya and husband Lawrence of Los Alamos, Carolyn Reagin and husband Scot of Denver, CO, Edward Martinez and wife Deborah of O’Fallon, Illinois; grandchildren, Ashley Montoya, Christopher Montoya, Camille Reagin, Caitlin Reagin, Jerrica Wild and Sara Martinez; sisters, Carmen Gonzales of El Rancho and Cecilia Vigil and husband Ismael of San Pedro; mother of his children, Vera Martinez of Albuquerque; loving companion, Loretta Martinez of Española and numerous other loving relatives and friends. BEATRICE V. QUINTANA MARTINEZ

Age 76, a resident of Santo Niño, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2008 following a sudden illness. Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Enrique “Henry” Martinez; parents, Desiderio and Clorinda Quintana; brothers, Robert, Urban and Eloy Quintana. Beatrice worked at TG&Y as an accountant and was known as a cook at the Senior Citizens Stroke Center. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her children, Barbara Garcia and husband David of Fairview, Leroy Martinez and wife Nadine of Santo Niño, Harold Martinez and wife Vangie of Fairview, Patsy Martinez of Albuquerque, Jeff Martinez and wife Sally of La Mesilla and Kathleen Martinez of Santo Niño; brothers and sisters, Sylviano Quintana and wife Elsie of Alcalde, Steven Quintana of Santo Niño and Joe Quintana and wife Viola of El Llano; sister and best friend, Cecilia Trujillo and husband Ismael of Hernandez and sister-in-law, Flora Quintana; Special Sister-in-law; Tina Gonzales of Calif., other brothers and sisters-in-law; Beva Salazar and husband Lee, Fred Martinez and wife Margie, Pablo Martinez all of Espanola, Levi Martinez and wife Magdalena of Ojo Sarco and Alice Martinez of Fairview. 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and other loving relatives and friends. LOUELLA E. ROLLER DE ORTEGA

Age 45, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elemin and Adelina Lucero; paternal grandparents, Antonio and Julia Ortega. She served in the United States Navy and was a loving mother of three. She was caring, compassionate and full of life and had a contagious smile and had an open door to anyone who needed her. Louella is survived by her husband, Brandon Roller of Santa Clara Pueblo; children, Danielle and Katrina Wilson and Gabrielle Gallegos all of Santa Clara Pueblo; parents, Anastacio and Martha Ortega of Ojo Caliente; sister, Roberta Martinez and husband Phil of El Rancho; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Toni Roller of Santa Clara Pueblo and nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Bobby Rodriguez

Age 52, a resident of Espanola passed away unexpectedly on Wed. Oct. 15, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Amadita Rodriquez. Brothers: Sammy, Walter and Frankie Rodriguez and 1 Sister; Frances Martinez. He is survived by his sisters; Sarah Romero and husband Sal and Lila Haggard of Calif., Laura Ortega and Francisco of Albq. And Carl Marroquin of Calif. Close niece, Jeanette Duran and husband Matthew of Espanola. Prior sister-in-law and close friend, July Romero of Cordova, First cousin and friend: Leroy Rodriguez and close friend Donna Salazar of Espanola. Numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. MARCELINO VIGIL

Age 90, a resident of Española, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Vigil; brothers and sisters, Canuto, Benjamin and Jose Inez Vigil, Floripa Vigil, Sarita Vigil and Sofia Trujillo. Marcelino loved going fishing, making his own inventions, cooking and spending time with his family. He was a good man and will be dearly missed. Mr. Vigil is survived by his daughters, Joann and Rosaline Trujillo both of La Villita; grandchildren, Melba Trujillo of Española and Bernadette Diaz of la Villita; great-grandchildren, Mendie Trujillo, Ernest and Heather Archuleta, Keith Trujillo and Juan and Estrella Diaz; great-great-grandchildren, Alexia, Julian and Jonathan; favorite nephew, Anastacio Vigil and numerous other loving relatives and friends. JOE A. GARCIA

Age 77, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada and originally of Española, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose D. and Ramona V. Garcia; brothers, Ruben and Sam Garcia; brother-in-law, Benny Sanchez. Joe was a loving and wonderful person who loved the outdoors, fishing and tennis. He is loved greatly and will be missed. Age 23, a resident of Pojoaque, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2008. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Pedro and Manuelita Trujillo and Marcos and Floripa Vigil; paternal great-grandparents, Katie M. Garcia and Joe L. and Ruby Romero; grandfather, Sam Artino and great-uncle, Cristobal Martinez. Matthew was a very loving and caring father, partner and son. Chanel, his daughter, was his world. He graduated from Pojoaque High School in 2003. He loved hunting, snow boarding, riding motorcycles, fishing, traveling and just hanging out with friends and family. Age 47, a resident of Nambe, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose C. Romero; maternal grandparents, Gregorio and Beronis Lopez and paternal grandparents, Atanacio and Petra Romero. Mr. Romero is survived by his mother, Virginia L. Carolyn Tafoya

Age 78, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo, passed away from a lengthy illness, on Saturday, November 1, 2008. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Damacio and Patrocinia Tafoya; brothers, Louis, Ignacio Naranjo, and Dale Tafoya; sisters, Virginia Tafoya, Albedia Tafoya and Christine Montoya; aunt, Marianita Naranjo; brothers-In-Law, Teofilo Dasheno, and Robert Lyon Jr.; godson, Ronald Velarde; and goddaughter, Diane Shije. She Retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1992 after 43½ years. She was an active member of the Santa Clara Senior Center. She was kind, caring, and always willing to help anyone in need. Most of all she loved being a gramma. She will be dearly missed by all her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Yepa and Husband Wallace; grandsons, Jeremy and Nicholi Yepa; two special nephews, Calvin Tafoya and wife Barbara, and Stanley Tafoya and wife Michelle; sisters, Victoria Dasheno, Genevieve Suazo and husband Henry, Marie Lyon; sisters-in-law, Marie I. Naranjo, and Florence Naranjo; godchildren, Claudia Lente, Simon Baca, Doreen Frenier, Sophie Cata, Yolanda Velarde, and Lourdes Baca. Numerous Nieces, Nephews and other family Members. Martin Aragon

Age 78, a resident of Española, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, October 31, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Magdalena Aragon; brothers, Alfonso, John, Vidal, and Leonard Aragon; sisters, Esther Arguello, Anita Martinez, and Josephine Roberts; father and mother-in-law, Antonio and Carmela Guccione. Martin was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He served with the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He received a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus # 3314. He retired as a social worker for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He is survived by his wife, Sara Aragon of Española; daughters, Carolyn Quesada and husband Stephen of Santa Fe, Linda Garcia and husband Mike, and Carmela Aragon of Española; sons, Thomas Aragon and wife Bernadette, and Anthony Aragon of Española; brother, Adelaido Aragon and wife Clara; sisters, Irene Schwitzer and husband Robert, Mildred Aragon, Regina Nance and husband James; grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Savannah, Vicente, Christina, Jessica, Victoria, and Brandon as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. Age 82, a resident of Taos, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008 following a lengthy illness. Age 40, a resident of Cordova, went to be with our heavenly father on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. He was preceded in death by his infant sisters, Angela and Diana Torrez; maternal grandparents, Juan and Rosalia DeAguero; paternal grandparents, Remijio and Adelia Torrez. He is survived by his wife that he spent 24 years of his life with, Amy Chavez-Torrez; daughter, Lorraine Chavez and Augustine Mendez; granddaughter that he loved dearly and was like a daughter to him, Alexandra Chavez. Roberta Alice McDaniel

Age 91, a longtime resident of the Espanola Valley passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008 of natural cause’s incident to age and after having spent the last four year in the Espanola Valley Nursing and Rehab Center following a stroke. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Alice and Robert Montgomery; husband of 64 years, JR McDaniel; daughter, Linda; sister, Elsie and 2 brothers, Clarence and Edmund. Roberta was born to Alice Lee and Robert Montgomery on June 7, 1917. She married James R. McDaniel, December 7, 1940 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and moved to Espanola, New Mexico in 1945 where she lived for the rest of her life. She worked for the New Mexican newspaper for several years and then worked for the Espanola School District until she retired 1980. She was a member of the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. Roberta is survived by one son, James H. (Lovina) McDaniel, 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. The family of Roberta M. McDaniel has placed the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Family and Staff.
