John Christopher "Chris" Booth

Feb. 19, 1943 - Jan. 3, 2008

In a surprising turn of events, John Christopher "Chris" Booth, 64, of Farmington, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008. He was born Feb. 19, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to John Newton Booth and Jean McLennan Booth Evans.

Chris is survived by his wife, Marguerite; his two daughters, Sarah Elisabeth of Houston, Texas, and Stephanie Barth of Flemington, N.J.; his son-in-law, Christopher Barth; and his beloved grandchildren, Max and Madeleine.

A lawyer and "arbiter of frontier disputes" in San Juan County for nearly 20 years, Chris' compassion and integrity — not to mention his sense of humor — touched the lives of hundreds of people. He will always be remembered for his ability to quote obscure dates, tell endless puns, and make friends with every person and dog encountered.

When not working 24 hours a day, Chris loved hiking, camping, backpacking, traveling, reading everything he could get his hands on and restoring his 1952

Willys Jeep. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and his family was truly his proudest achievement.

For their special care and attention, Chris' family wishes to thank Dr. William A. Cumberworth, Dr. James J. Spence, Dr. Mona Chiha, Dr. Luther Weathers III, as well as the following nurses in the San Juan Regional Medical Center Intensive Care Unit: Lori A., Lori K., Steve, Monica, Sandy, Ty, Gara, and Kathy. They also extend their appreciation for the quick response of the Farmington Fire Department No. 5.

Chris was the center of his family's universe. He is irreplaceable.
