Tommy Yazzie

July 3, 1949 - July 18, 2008

Tommy Yazzie, of Nahnezad, passed away at his home Friday, July 18, 2008. He was born July 3, 1949, in Farmington, to the late Jay Yazzie Sr. and Annie M. Yazzie.

In 1968, Tommy enlisted in the Marine Corps and proudly served in the Vietnam War. Tommy was honorably discharged in 1971. He was also a part of the American Legion post 120.

Tommy is survived by his five children: Chris Yazzie of Shiprock, Carlos Yazzie of Nenahnezad, Joseph Yazzie of Fruitland, Heidi Talk of Farmington and Summer Yazzie of Farmington.

He also left behind five grandsons: Brett Yazzie, Seth Yazzie, Joseph "Fozzie" Yazzie, James Talk, Dominique Begay and Israel "Bobby" Talk Jr.

Tommy was the eldest of 14 children. His siblings included: Harrison (Katy) Yazzie, Calvin (Ida) Yazzie, Clifford (Jeannette) Yazzie, Wilson (Vivian) Yazzie, Alfred Yazzie, Charles (Darlene) Yazzie, Jay Yazzie Jr., Lorenzo Yazzie, Timothy Yazzie, Raymond (Sharon) Yazzie, Orlanda Yazzie, Suzanne (Warren) Begay and Judith Yazzie.

Tommy will be dearly missed by his children, grandsons, mother, grandmother Alice Barber, siblings, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 23, at Open Bible Baptist Church in Waterflow, with the Rev. Robertson Jackson officiating. There will be an honor run from Desert View Funeral Home to Open Bible Baptist Church.

After services, the honor run will continue to Memory Gardens in Farmington, where he will be laid to rest.

Roberta Brown Grove

May 3, 1954 - July 19, 2008

Roberta Brown Grove, 54, of Farmington went home to her heavenly father Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was born May 3, 1954, in Farmington, to Nellie Mae Brown Jones and Robert Leo Brown Sr.

Roberta was a member of the Crossroads Community Church, formerly First Church of the Nazarene (Farmington) for 41 years, where she and Stuart were wed.

Mrs. Grove was preceded in death by her father, Robert Leo Brown Sr.; mother, Nellie Mae Brown Jones; stepfather, Wilson Rae Jones, and brother, Stan Brown.

She is survived by Stuart Grove, her husband of 33 years; daughter, Sabrina Grove-Means and husband, Shane Means; sons, Deric and Philip Grove; sister, Verna Christensen and husband, Allen; brother, Robert Brown and wife, Vicki. Roberta was "Nana" to Ian A. Wright-Means, Alyssa Wright-Means, Elexis M. Means, Mikel S. Means, Mathew S. Means, Michelle Christensen, Josh Christensen, Jared Haller, Riley Haller, Zach Christensen and Hailey Christensen; and many more extended family members.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., today, Wednesday, July 23, at Crossroads Community Church, with Pastor David West officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Farmington.

Pallbearers are Lee Haller, Ryan Christensen, Daniel Christensen, Deric Grove, Phil Grove and Shane Means.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Crossroads Community Church of Farmington.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St., in Farmington; (505) 327-5142.

Jon Schlough

June 22, 1945 - July 19, 2008

Jon Schlough, 63, of Farmington, passed away from a sudden illness at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque on Saturday, July 19, 2008. He was born June 22, 1945, in St. Cloud, Minn., to Alvina and Leon Schlough.

Jon grew up in Minnesota, lived in Colorado and moved to Farmington in 1992. He graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango with a degree in education and art education. He taught art for many years at Shiprock High School, and most recently taught special education at Kirtland High School. He was a musician, an artist and a sailor.

Most importantly, Jon was a husband, a father, a brother and a friend to many.

Jon is survived by his wife, Bonnie, and son, Alex; brothers, Thomas, David and Steven Schlough; sisters, Kathy Koshiol, Janet Orsini, Diane Schnaser and Joanie Abbe. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a multitude of friends.

A celebration of Jon's life will be at 4 p.m. Friday, July 25, at First United Methodist Church, 808 N. Monterey Ave., in Farmington, with Dr. Craig Curry officiating. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred, and the family will make donations in line with Jon's interests and many pursuits.

Edward (Ed) D. Rousseau Jr.

Nov. 10, 1957 - Aug. 16, 2008

Edward (Ed) D. Rousseau Jr., 50, of Aztec, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, in Farmington. He was born Nov. 10, 1957, in Durango, Colo., to Edward Rousseau Sr. and Jackie Weatherwax.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 307 N. Church St., in Bloomfield. Father Robert Lanier will officiate. Interment will follow at Aztec Community Cemetery.

Raymond E. (Bunky) Johnson

Aug. 25, 1936 - Aug. 17, 2008

Raymond E. Bunky' Johnson passed away peacefully Aug. 17, 2008, after a brief stay at Life Care Center of Farmington. He was born Aug. 25, 1936, to Mildred M. and James R. Johnson in Turlock, Calif.

After moving to Texas as an infant, Bunky graduated from Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas, and, being one of the state's top recruits for his golfing ability, was a member of one of the nation's leading golf teams while attending Lamar Tech in Beaumont.

In addition to a stint in the U. S. Army, Bunky enjoyed a long career in professional golf, joining the PGA Tour and eventually becoming a teaching and club professional. Following his golf career, Bunky created REJCO Enterprises, specializing in surplus inventories for the oil and gas industry, settling in Bloomfield, where he worked until his death.

He was preceded in death by his son, Doug, who succumbed to muscular dystrophy in 1990.

Bunky is survived by Lynda, his wife of 23 years; stepdaughters, Pam Posey of Brookshire, Texas, and Julie Mayfield of Mansfield, Texas; stepsons, Eddie Felder of Bloomfield, Rick Felder of League City, Texas, and Cory Hays of Longview, Texas; by brothers, Harold Jones of Dallas, Texas, and Bob Johnson of Thornton, Texas, and their families. He also is survived by twelve grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Piņon Hills Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.

Gary Bryan Hachadourian

Sept. 24, 1944 - Aug. 21, 2008

Gary Bryan Hachadourian, 63, of Farmington, waged a valiant struggle against pancreatic cancer, abandoning that struggle on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008. Gary was born in Springfield, Mass., on Sept. 24, 1944, to Sadie Bryan Hachadourian and George Hachadourian.

He was preceded in death by parents, George and Sadie, as well as his much-loved cousin, Ed Hachadourian

He was the beloved husband of Joyce Hachadourian; loving father of Timothy Bryan Hachadourian and Joshua Peter Hachadourian, as well as adoring father-in-law to Kristine Kimm Hachadourian.

He was a caring brother to Karen Hachadourian and Mary Longland, as well as a devoted uncle to Sarah Qin Hachadourian and to Garrett, Grant and Troy Hodge.

Gary served the greater Farmington community as a clinical psychologist for 18 years. He was the devoted servant of the Episcopal Church of Navajoland, serving in recent years as the treasurer of the Navajoland Area Mission. He was an active member of the All Saints Episcopal community, as well as the Third Order, Society of St. Francis.

He will be greatly missed by family, friends and those whom he has assisted over the years. The family wishes to thank all those who have loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to Doctors Without Borders/ Medecins Sans Frontieres, (888) 392-0392.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Leroy "Daddy" Jack Sr.

Jan. 24, 1937 - Aug. 19, 2008

Leroy Jack Sr, 71, of Cudei, died on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, in Farmington. Leroy was born Jan. 24, 1937, in Beclabito to Joe and Mary Jack.

Services will be at 9 a.m., today, Saturday, Aug. 23, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Shiprock. Pastor Marvin Ellison will officiate. Burial will follow at the Cortez Cemetery with a reception following at Cudei Chapter House.

Robbie Eugene Smith

Aug. 20, 2008

Robbie Eugene Smith, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother joined the presence of the Lord on Wednesday Aug. 20, 2008, at the age of 68. Robbie was born in Tampa, Fla., to Robert and Rosie McCord.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by son, Jon Wade; by grandson, Ernesto Smith; and a sister, Martha Marie.

Robbie leaves behind to join her later, her husband, Earnest Smith; sons, Leroy Smith and wife, Debbie, of Aztec; Ernie Smith of Cedar Hill; one daughter, Karen Barrera and husband, Bob, of Bloomfield; grandsons, Robert Barrera Hobbs, Jesse Smith and wife, Tracy of Tempe, Ariz.; Joshua Smith of Aztec; granddaughters Bonnie Barrera of Farmington; Hannah Smith of Aztec and great-grandson Brandon Barrera of Farmington. She also is survived by twin sister, Jewell Francis and husband, Johnnie Mendez, of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters, Glenda Ritter and Wilma Kancler of Alma, Ga.; Myrna Hall of Sun City, Ariz., brother and sister-in-law, Noah and Voncile Graham of Oklahoma City; Ken and Mary Freeman of Thackerville, Okla.; sisters-in-law. Lois Sanders of Blossom, Texas, Wanda Fern Smith of Ardmore, Okla.; brothers-in-law Homer and Billy Smith of Graham, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robbie was employed by Pinal County Nursing Home in Florence, Ariz., before returning to the area, and was employed by San Juan County until her retirement. Robbie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Robbie was a homemaker.

Robbie loved her Lord and loved to attend church and Sunday school. Robbie loved to sing Bluegrass gospel and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. Mom celebrated 44 years of salvation on Aug. 9, and was very faithful right up to the end, handing out tracts while in the hospital. Now mom is visiting with those she led to the Lord who have preceded her in death. One of her favorite sayings was: "When I enter that beautiful city and the saved all around me appear, I hope someone will tell me it was you who invited me here.' "

She will be missed by her loved ones and friends.

Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at the First Baptist Church, 700 Navajo St., in Aztec. Rev. Kevin Parker will officiate. Graveside services will be at the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Leroy Larce Tycksen

Sept. 12, 1921 - Aug. 20, 2008

Leroy Larce Tycksen, 86, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, in Farmington. He was born in Bayfield, Colo., on Sept. 12, 1921, to Nis and Alice Tycksen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his second wife, Ina Elizabeth Shepard.

He is survived by brothers, Howard (Zelma) Tycksen and Walter (Audry) Tycksen; five children, Gary, Lynn, Mike, Kyle and Myron; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Leroy moved to New Mexico from Bayfield in 1928 and then to Trechado. He moved to Farmington in 1937 and attended High School there where he graduated in 1941. There were 55 class members. He also attended Fort Lewis College.

He was employed by the Farmington National Bank; by Spitzer Electric of Albuquerque in 1945, and by the Post Office. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas after 22 years of service. He was a Boy Scout, a member of 4-H and a Mason. His hobbies were electronics and watch repair, youth baseball coach, pilot, roses, and gardening.

Visitation for Leroy will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington.

Pallbearers will be Gary Tycksen, Kyle Tycksen, Chad Timmerman, Shane Tycksen, Lynn Tycksen and Mike Tycksen.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Ryan Reddick.

Peter Word Wilcox Jr.

May 12, 1924 - Sept. 6, 2008

Peter Word Wilcox Jr. died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at his home in Farmington. He was born May 12, 1924, in Glenwood, Ark., to Peter and Francis Wilcox.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave., in Farmington.

Arrangements are en-trusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St., in Farmington; (505) 327-5142.

Della Heller Julianto

April 18, 1926 - Sept. 8, 2008

Della Heller Julianto, 82, of Farmington, finished her course as a faithful witness of Jehovah, Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in Farmington. She was born in the Carson area, April 18, 1926, to Ben Harris and Pauline Werito Harris. Della was baptized on May 27, 2000, at the Denver District Convention as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and continued faithful to the end.

She was a loving wife and mother who set a good example by putting Kingdom interests first. Della had the hope of everlasting life on a paradise earth. Psalm 37:29 promises, "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it."

She was preceded in death by brothers, Ben H. Harris, Tyler Harris and Charles Harris; sister, Mary Ray; and grandson, Jerad Evans Newman.

Della is survived by her husband, Evans D. Julianto; brothers, Fred Harris, Ben Harris Jr., Bruce Heller and Daniel John; sisters, Ellen Etsitty and Eva Brown; daughters, Gloria and husband, George Dennison, of Shiprock and Loretta Newman of Farmington; sons, William Julianto of Farmington and Orlando Julianto and wife, Deborah, of Scottsdale, Ariz.

She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 800 W. 30th St., in Farmington. Roy DeJulio will officiate. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.

Yilhabah T. Brown

May 20, 1924 - Sept. 8, 2008

Yilhabah T. Brown, 84, of Blanding, Utah, formerly of Chinle, Ariz., passed from this life Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in Monticello, Utah. She was born May 20, 1924, in Chinle. Her maternal clan is Big Water (To tsoni) and paternal clan is Bitter Water (Todichiini).

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Brown Sr.; sisters, Nasbah Willie and Pauline Bahe; brothers, Kee Chee and Lewis Tsosie; and grandson, Neil E. Joe.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Brown of Chinle, John Brown Jr. of Chinle, and Johnson Brown of Waterflow; daughters, Alyce B. Joe of Hogback, Lynda Brown of Blanding, and Marlinda Brown of Shiprock; and by 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Chinle.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Chinle. Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Chinle.

Morris Glen Kirkpatrick

Jan. 21, 1939 - Sept. 8, 2008

Mr. Morris Glen Kirkpatrick, 69, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in Aztec. He was born Jan. 21, 1939, in Jackson, Wyo., to Glenn Kirkpatrick and Ila Kirkpatrick.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 11, at Aztec Baptist Church, 1219 S. Main Ave., with Pastor Don Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow at Aztec Cemetery.
