Molly Teague, 64
Mrs. Molly Teague, 64, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 25, 1908, in San Antonio, to Ruby and Walter Rogers.
Her father was a trapper and game warden and the family moved from place to place in New Mexico while she was growing up. When she was 13 or 14 the family settled in Portales. She married Charlie Teague on Sept. 25, 1958, in Portales. She and her husband lived in several different locations before settling in Bovina where she lived the majority of her adult life.
About 18 months ago she returned to Portales to make her home. Recently she had moved to an apartment in Golden Acres. Family members said she was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James, Bob and Wally Rogers; and three sisters, Jean Mays, Betty Mays and Frances Murray.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Chuck Teague (and wife, Susan) of Friona; two grandchildren, Lacy Teague and Matthew Teague; a brother, Joe Rogers of Queens; and two sisters, Ruby McCain and Kathy Vaughn, both of Portales.
Burial was at Friona Cemetery.
The Rev. Steve Patterson officiated the services.
Honorary pallbearers were Tabor and Tyler Smith, Jarrett Vaughn and Vicente, Rafael, Geraldo and Luis McCain.
Arrangements were by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Services have been held.

Nelson Worley, 86
Mr. Nelson Worley, 86, of Clovis, a retired police chief, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Laurel Plains Healthcare in Clovis.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1918, in Cedarvale, to George and Beulah Flowers Worley.
He moved to Clovis in 1924. He married Mildred Fails on April 8, 1939, in Fort Sumner. He started working for the Clovis Police Department at age 27, beginning a 30-year career in law enforcement. He served in the capacity of chief of police, sheriff, deputy sheriff and on the board of the New Mexico Police Academy, retiring in 1983.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dwayne Nelson Worley (and wife, Linda) of Roswell, Calvin Ray Worley of Lubbock and Michael Warren Worley (Lori) of Florence, Miss.; two sisters, Dorothy Bartholme of Dougless, Wyo. and LaWanda Frakes (Charles) of Clovis; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Raymond Mondragon, Caleb Chandler, R.E. Bartosiewicz, Leon Morris, Joe Thomas and Paul Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Bonem, Jimmy New, Don Bonner, Bill Carey, Garrett Mitchell, Harold Russell, Gomer Pyle, Kevin Clements and members of the Men’s Bible Class, Clovis Police Department and Curry County Sheriff’s Department.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Law Enforcement Memorial, c/o New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Central Baptist Church in Clovis.

Leona Lucus, 99, of Fort Sumner died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Laurel Ridge Care Center following an illness.
Services are pending with Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner. Services are pending.

Maria Candeleria
Marquez, 69
Maria Candeleria Marquez, 69, Clovis, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born April 16, 1934, in Ramadero to Luciano and Francisquita Marquez Garcia.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Florinda Hernandez of Portales, Joan Martinez (and husband Jimmy) of Clovis and Eleanor Payen of Lovington; seven sons, Roy Gallegos (Darlene), Fabian Gallegos (Penny), Ruben Gallegos (Teresa) and Robert Marquez, all of Clovis, Carlos Gallegos (Virginia) of Portales, Joe Gallegos (Maria) of Tulsa, Okla., and Tino Gallegos (Yolanda) of Tucumcari; five sisters, Lola Gonzales, Berna Baca, Maggie Sotelo and Eva Baca, all of Albuquerque, and Angela Padilla of Portales; three brothers, Ralph Garcia and Ricardo Garcia, both of Willard, and Bello Garcia of California; 36 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Willard.
Burial will be at El Rosario Cemetery in Willard.
Pallbearers will be granddaughters.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Willard.

William H. Windley, 32
William H. Windley, 32, of Portales died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 in Clovis.
Services are pending with Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Services are pending.

Harold Bell “Fuzzy” Brown, 83, of Roswell, retired, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at his home.
He was born on June 22, 1920, in Floydada, Texas, to Travis and Maud Brown.
He grew up in Rhea, Texas. He married Dora Blalock in August 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during World War II. He moved to Clovis in 1949 and worked for Torrence Reed’s Western Wear until 1952. He worked for Southwestern Public Service Co. until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Sally Ann Roping Club in 1950 and Parkland Baptist Church. Family members said he was an avid horse and dog lover, enjoyed showing horses and dogs and restoring old wagons and buggies. He was instrumental in bringing the Appaloosa Horse Show to the Curry County Fair.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Robbie Lou Menn; and two sisters, Jenoyce Ford and Wynelle Pipkin.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wayne Brown of Roswell and Gene Brown of Portales; a daughter, Lynda Hand of Amarillo; a brother, Joe Brown of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; two sisters, Ruth Lofton of Carmichael, Calif., and Ysleta Kittrell of Farwell; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
The Rev. Douglas Brooks and the Rev. Herbert Bergstrom will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Bovina Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott, Lance, Chad and Cody Brown, Roy Lynn and Ronnie Williams, Teresa Teague, Christy Hand, Rebecca Williams and Mandi Shearer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkland Baptist Building Fund or to the High School Rodeo Scholarship Fund.

Maggie Lou Lawson, 95
Maggie Lou Lawson, 95, of Portales, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.
She was born on June 23, 1908, in Thurber, Texas, to Annie Jane and Joseph A. Booth.
She attended school in Minco, Texas. She married Gayle U. Lawson on Aug. 2, 1928, in Thurber, Texas. They lived in Idalou, Pep and Levelland, Texas before moving to the Highway/Lingo area in 1942. In 1952, they moved near Milnesand, where they ran the school bus routes for Dora Schools. In 1979, they moved to Dora. She moved to Portales in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Will, Ed, and Sam Booth; five sisters, Ida Coleman, Ollie Hilburn, Lilly Hilburn, Rosa Watkins, and Minnie Lee Booth, who died as a child; a son, Danny Ray Lawson, who died in 1978; and her husband, Gayle U. Lawson, who died in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Darwin Lawson (and wife, Ruth) of Hope; a daughter, Anna Beth Richards (Jimmie) of Portales; four grandchildren, Karen Downing (Rich) of Eunice, J. Mark Richards (Rosalie) of Portales, Lisa Sue Richards of Portales and Jo Malyn Richards of Las Cruces; six great-grandchildren, Melissa and Richard Downing of Eunice, Ashley, Justin and Chance Sherburne of Portales, and Michele Robertson (Staff Sgt. Jeffery) of Minot, N.D.; a sister, Clara Jane Hopper of Mineral Wells, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Brad Morgan will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Melissa and Richard Downing, Ashley, Justin and Chance Sherburne and John Albrecht.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.

Paula Sue Moore, 53
Paula Sue Moore, 53, of Wetumpka, Ala., executive editor of the Montgomery, Ala. Advertiser, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at her home.
She was born on June 20, 1950, in El Reno, Okla., to Paul and Mary Trapp of Clovis.
She was a 1968 graduate of Clovis High School and 1974 graduate of Eastern New Mexico University. She has been senior editor of Gannett Co., Inc.'s Montgomery newspaper since April 1997. She began her professional newspaper career in 1971 at the Clovis News Journal, where she was wire editor. She met John Moore while they were both employed at the Clovis News Journal. She married John R. Moore on Feb. 18, 1972, in Clovis. She was past-president of the Texas Associated Press Managing Editor's Association.
Survivors include her husband; a sister, Ann Damaschke of Clovis; a nephew and niece, Danny and Dannette Damaschke, both of Clovis; a brother, Paul Trapp of Graeagle, Calif.; two nieces, Susan Simonson of Allentown, Pa. and Julie Wentworth Armijo of Chicago; her sister- and brother-in-law, Janet and James Wentworth of Belfast, Maine; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Division of Gynecological Oncology, in care of Patti Reichert, University of Alabama-Birmingham, 619 19th St. South, Birmingham, Ala. 35233.
The Rev. Susan Beehler of El Paso will officiate the services.
Cremation services were arranged by Brooks-Cargile Funeral Home of Montgomery, Ala.
Services are at 11 a.m. (CST) Friday at Children's Harbor Chapel on the shore of Lake Martin, Ala.

Wayne Feland, 64, of Clovis died Friday, April 16, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Floyd to Verna and John Feland.
Mr. Feland was a farmer and lived his entire lifetime in the Floyd community until about two years ago when he and his brother moved to Clovis to be in a less remote area. He was a 1957 graduate of Floyd High School, and was a member of the Melrose Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Donald Feland, and another brother who died at birth.
Survivors include two brothers, Calvin Feland of Clovis and Carol Feland (and wife Jane) of Amarillo; three sisters, Ruby Burden (Badger), Odena Turner (Johnny) and Ruth Parks (Marlin), all of Portales; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc.
No formal services are planned.

Florence Mildred Grubelnik, 83
Florence Mildred “Mickey” Grubelnik, 83, of Raton died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Miners’ Colfax Medical Center in Raton.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1920, to Ethel Mae and William L. Turner.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. Family members said she enjoyed hunting and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. “Pug” Grubelnik; her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Jean Grubelnik Hopper; a brother; and three sisters.
Survivors include a son, Robert Carl “Skip” Grubelnik (and wife, Pat) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Kevin Grubelnik (Sandy) of Colorado Springs, Brian Grubelnik (Pollyann) of Nashville, Tenn., Chanin Grubelnik Wilson (Herb) of Westminster, Colo., and Janice Hopper Stroud (David) of Portales; nine great-grandchildren, Nicole, Charleeann, Michael, Zachary, Alexander, Brandon, Regan, Shania and Maegan; a son-in-law, Melvin “Sonny” Hopper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Mike Hensley will officiate the services.
Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
Arrangements are by Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Yaksich-Long Funeral Home chapel in Raton.

Kay Johnston, 59
Kay Johnston, 59, of Portales died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center in Clovis.
She was born on Nov. 3, 1944, in Tucumcari to Louise and Bill Johnston.
Her family moved to Portales from Levelland, Texas, in 1959. While she was in school, she worked at the sale barn that her father owned. She graduated from Portales High School in 1963. She attended Eastern New Mexico University for two years before beginning her career at Portales National Bank. She retired in 1996 as an assistant vice president. She then worked as a caretaker for Mary Louise Akers. She was a member of the Victory Life Church in Portales.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include a brother, Bob Johnston (and wife, Diane) of Cloudcroft; a sister, Sue Gray (Birl) of Portales; 11 nieces and nephews, Ricky and Randy Bouldin, Tana Duncan, Neil Gray, Rena Payton, Jena, Jaralee and Jordan Johnston and Sara, Amy and and Will Archibeque; and five great-nieces and nephews, Jason Queener, Ty and Kyle Duncan and Bennett and Lauren Bouldin.
The Rev. David Markham will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ricky and Randy Bouldin, Bowie and Burwin Howard, Jamie Cooper and Kenny Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are the employees of Portales National Bank.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.

Antonia Naylor, 56
Antonia “Toni” Marie Armijo Naylor, 56, of Portales died Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1947, in Clovis to Lucrecio and Josie Salazar Armijo.
She married John A. Naylor on Nov. 12, 1968, in Roswell. She lived in Clovis for most of her life and then she moved to the Portales area in 1995. Family members said the love of her life was her grandchildren and family. She was a member of Living Faith Church in Portales.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Lee Armijo.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, John V. Naylor (and wife, Amy) of Portales and Andrew Naylor of Portales; a daughter, Luceresia Ritchie (Ray) of Nampa, Idaho; a brother, Felix Armijo (Dolores) of Clovis; four sisters, Gloria Regalado (Adam) of Clovis, Cordie Vargas of Farwell, and June Sandoval (Leo Sena) and Irene Maes, all of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Adrianna Naylor of Portales and Christopher Ritchie of Nampa.
The Rev. Darl Badgerow will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Joseph and Jimmy Sandoval, Jacob Rodriguez, Richard Vargas, Donald Reed, Jerry Armijo and Christopher Ritchie.
Honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton in Clovis.

Margie Purcell, 74
Mrs. Margie Purcell, 74, of Portales, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her home.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1929, in Melrose, to Bessie Mae and Charles R. Vance.
She attended school at McAlister and House, and graduated from Melrose High School in 1948. She married Bill Purcell on June 6, 1948, near McAlister. They ranched at Endee near San Jon until 1974 when they moved to the Arch community. From 1983 until 2001 she and her husband were the managers of Golden Acres apartments in Portales. Family members said she was an excellent cook and baker and was an accomplished seamstress. She once made 18 German chocolate cakes for a school fund raiser. She was a founder of the Wagonwheel Cowbelles in Quay County, and served as State Secretary of New Mexico Cowbelles. She was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim Purcell (and wife, Vickie) of Big Spring, Texas, and Jeff Purcell (Shellie) of Farmington; a daughter, Linda Russell (Jim) of Portales; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Russell (Becky), Jennie Russell, Cody Purcell (Reka), Lance Purcell (Carolina), John Purcell, Brandi Wilde (Stuart), Anthony Bishop and Dana Bishop; three great-grandchildren, Logan Purcell, Liam Russell and Catalina Purcell; two brothers, Gary Vance (Marilyn) of San Leandro, Calif., and Bob Vance of Ykera, Calif.; and a sister, Ava Winget (Dale) of Flemington, N.J.
David Bennett will officiate the services.
Burial will be at San Jon Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Craig Cosner, Bob Frost, Roger Bowe, Eric Rusk, Bob Fox, Russell Bowe, Frank Rusk and Zeke Frost.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales.
