Georgia Rizzuti
Services: 7 p.m. Monday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
Mrs. Georgia Carol Brock Rizzuti, 59, of Clovis, died Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1945, in Denver, to Bob and Helen Fern Thurman.
She was a graduate of Clovis High School and Eastern New Mexico University. She married James Rizzuti in June of 2004. She taught math at Texico Junior High from 1970 to 2004.
The family will be at 472 State Road 523 in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and a brother, Larry Lynn Thurman.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her father; a son, Eric Brock of New York; two sisters, Roberta Cameron of Tucson, Ariz., and Linda Stensvad of Clovis; a brother, Robert Thurman of Farwell; and a nephew, Scott Stensvad of Clovis.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Keith Terry, 64, of Portales, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1940, in Portales, to Musette and Bob Terry.
He married Judy Cummingson on Aug. 27, 1958, in Farwell.
He lived his entire life in and around Portales. He was a 1959 graduate of Portales High School. They farmed for about 12 years before trading their land for the home where they now live in Portales. In 1970 he began buying farm equipment and established a custom harvesting business. In 1984 he bought a rock crusher and added a caliche business. In 1986 he quit the harvesting business, and did the caliche business full time. He retired in 1995. In 1981 he began collecting antique cars to restore and resell. He was a member of the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ, Eastern New Mexico Antique Auto Club and the Sun Country Auto Club.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Karl Terry (and wife, Carol) of Carbondale, Colo.; Jeff Terry (Cindy) of Portales; a daughter, Kathy Mobley (Randy) of Portales; four grandchildren, Ellen and Wade Mobley and Patty and Jessie Terry; his mother; a brother, H.R. Terry (Nona Faye) of Portales; three sisters, Betty Musick (Gordon) of Lubbock, and Mildred Gates (Monroe) and Sharon Grider (Gary), all of Clovis.
David Bennett and Kenneth Broad officiated the services.
Burial was at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Harold, Mike, Danny and Terry, Stephen Cummings, Mark Robertson, Stan and Kerry Musick, and Randy Wiseman.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Antique Car Club and his coffee dDrinking buddies.
Arrangements were by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Clarence Adams, 84
Services: 10 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Roswell.
Clarence Siringo Adams, 84, of Roswell, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1920, in Corona, to John C. and Alice M. Adams.
He spent his years in southeastern New Mexico as a teacher, educator, historian, author, writer, editor and outdoorsman. He grew up in the Roswell and Berrendo area joining the New Mexico Army National Guard and the US Army in 1942. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in 1950 and in 1957 his master of arts degree in education from Eastern New Mexico University. He taught in Dora, Cloudcroft, Weed, Artesia, Cottonwood and Roswell. He retired from teaching in 1979. Family members said he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Adams; three sons, Larry Adams (and wife, Becky), Kenneth Adams (Jeannie), and Rodney Adams (Kellie); three daughters, Jenny Beasley (Dan), Laura Hignight (companion, Allen Ward), and Jolynn Willmon (Roger); ten grandchildren, Brenda Ellis, Casie Sottosant, Cicily Ward, Quentin Ward, Casey Adams, Lindsey Winkler, Larissa Enoch, Kathryn Cochran, Kevin Cochran, and Barrett Adams; a sister, Jeri Prince (Buddy) of Portales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Eldridge “Butch” Neal will officiate the services with Marshall Fair assisting.
Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.
Pallbearers are Ryan, Cliff, and Jack Pirtle, Bernie Salaz, Verlon “Spec” Beckler, and John Ortega.
Honorary pallbearers are his closest friends and extended family at Peachtree Retirement Village.
Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
Arrangements are by La Grone Funeral Chapel of Roswell.

Bailee Tivis, 3
Services: 2 p.m. today at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.
Bailee Tivis, 3, of Portales, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.
He was born on Jan. 28, 2002, in Clovis, to Kristy and Kie Tivis.
He was born prematurely, and fought against all odds for survival. In Nov. 2003, he was well enough that he and his mother were able to move to Virginia to join his daddy who was stationed there in the US Navy. Late in the fall of 2004 the family returned to Portales. He was a student in the pre-kindergarten class at L.L. Brown Elementary. Family members said he kept an upbeat, happy attitude, smiling contagiously even when he was in great pain. He loved to laugh and play and wrestle, and could make you smile even when you were upset or angry with him.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Jim and Joan Williams and Martha Baird.
Survivors include his parents; his maternal grandparents, Glen and Susie Davis of Portales; his paternal grandparents, Glen Tivis and Donna Leal, both of Clovis; his great grandparents, Rosalie and Joe Burney of Lubbock, Max Davis of Rogers, and Lloyd and Frances Tivis of Portales; and his uncles, Justin and Tyler Davis, both of Portales and Jim Tivis of Cleveland, Tenn.
Allen Conner will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Dora.
Pallbearers are Kie and Jim Tivis, and Justin and Tyler Davis.
The family will gather at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hospitality Room at Golden Acres for the noon meal.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

William A. Hawkins, 84
Services: 12 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at VFW Post 9515 in Portales.
Mr. William A. “Willie” Hawkins, 84, of Portales, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.
He was born on July 29, 1920, in Ardmore, Okla., to Eula Pearl and George Washington Hawkins.
He attended college in Portales. After about a year he went to work for the railroad as a fireman. He progressed to engineer and eventually was promoted to the position of Road Foreman of Engineers in northern Arizona. He married Pearl Fay Stirman on July 20, 1940, in Portales. In 1943 he was transferred to Gallup. In 1944 he entered the Army and served in the Philippines until the end of World War II. He returned to Gallup where he made his home until 1972 when he transferred to Winslow, Ariz. Family members said he enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the BLF&E union. While living in Gallup he and the other train employees raised money each year for the March of Dimes by setting up a model train downtown. He returned to Portales in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wallis Hawkins and John Hawkins; two sisters, Avis Simpson and Annie Eddie Goode; a daughter, Alaine Downing; and by his wife.
Survivors include two sons, William “Bud” Hawkins Jr. (and wife, Violet) of Park City, Utah and Patrick Hawkins of Coaldale, Colo.; a daughter, Nettie Hawkins of Garland, Texas; six grandchildren, Lea Jones, Lisa Marbury, Sara Downing, Kenneth Hawkins, Kristen Martin and Allan Downing; three great grandchildren, Caitlyn Jones, Ryan Downing, and Summer Jones; a brother, Paul T. Hawkins of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a sister, Lauranette Mason of Muleshoe; a son-in-law, Charles I. Downing of Albuquerque; and a brother-in-law, Hank Hankins of Portales.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Maybelle Shults, 96
Services: 9 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Portales Fellowship Hall.
Mrs. Maybelle Elaine Shults, 96, of Portales, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.
She was born on Dec. 28, 1908, Greenback, Tenn., to Rosa and W.E. Mills.
She moved to Ranchvale in 1909 with her parents and two older brothers. She moved to Portales in 1960. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Portales and had been active in the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles L., William Leslie and Vernon R. Mills; two sisters, Edith Norris and Lucille Lancaster; two sons, Edwin Leon and Don Edward Shults; and by her husband, Clyde A. Shults.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Erwin (and husband, Roland) of Portales; eight grandchildren, Preston and Austin Lenard, both of Portales, Deanna Lenard of Mesa, Ariz., Leticia Johnston of Albuquerque, Michael Erwin of Fort. Worth, Texas, Teri Carrell and Dina Bajinski, both of Alamogordo, and Brenda Stolte of Arlington, Texas; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Webb of Portales.
The Rev. Dick Ross will officiate the services.

Lee Loflin, 82
Services: Have been held.
Lee Loflin, 82, of Lubbock, died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Lamesa, Texas.
He was born on May 24, 1922, in Portales, to John and Vada Loflin.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for Yellow Freight Systems for many years before retiring in 1985, and was a member of the V.F.W. in Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Loflin; a daughter, Joyce Loflin; two sisters, Mary Gross and Oma Hunt; and a brother, Burnnard Loflin.
Survivors include a son, John Loflin (and wife, Debbie) of Carlsbad; a sister, Julia Seavers of Nevada; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial was at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
The Rev. Michael Gilchrest officiated the services.
Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Robert Henry, 76
Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at the Panhandle Cemetery in Panhandle, Texas.
Robert Charles “Bob” Henry, 76, of Panhandle, Texas, died Monday, March 14, 2005 in Dallas.
He was born in Center, Okla., and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. He graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma and earned a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. He spent 37 years as a coach, teacher and principal in Clovis, Carnegie, Okla., Plainview, Texas, and Carlsbad before retiring from Portales. He was inducted into the Southwestern Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Sherwood (and husband, Scott) of Panhandle, Texas, Kathy Meier (Gene) of Weatherford, Okla.; and Susan Huckleberry of Seminole, Okla.; one brother, Bill Henry (Lois) of Hurst, Texas; two sisters, Rosie Bennett of Seminole, Okla., and Johnnie Grove of Shawnee, Okla.; nine grandchildren; Brock, Austin, Cho, J.D., Kristy, Crystal, Justin, Cole and Reed; and seven great grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers of Panhandle, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the general scholarship fund at Southwestern Oklahoma; 100 Campus Dr., Weatherford, Okla. 73096 or the Garrettsons Retirement Center, 503 Pecan St., Panhandle, Texas 79068.

Lela Ward, 81
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church in Clovis.
Mrs. Lela Ann Worley Ward, 81, of Clovis, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at her home.
She was born on March 15, 1923, in Wauhillau, Adair County, Okla., to Arthur and Maud Sellers Worley.
She moved with her family to Stillwell, Okla. in 1924. They moved to Portales in 1935. She graduated from high school in 1940. She attended college at the Oklahoma College for Women and Eastern New Mexico University. She married Jay A. Ward on April 15, 1943, in Portales. They moved to Clovis in 1961. She was a bookkeeper in cotton gins she co-owned with her husband in Texas and New Mexico.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Clovis, the Encanto Garden Club, Pleasant Hill Women’s Club, Ranchvale Extension Club, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the American Revolution. Family members said her hobbies were genealogy and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jan Lee; and two brothers, Clarence and Olan Worley.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Ward (and wife, Lydia) of Las Cruces, and Jody Ward (Karen) of Clovis; a daughter, Janette Pierce (Ben) of Wolfforth, Texas; a sister, Ruby Montgomery of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
The Rev. Mike Eberhardt and Joseph Vests will officiate services.
Pallbearers are Mike, Lyndon, Gayland and Gerald Ward, Carl Hahn and Victor Worley.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Dora Olmsted, 77
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Ballard Funeral Home, Cody, Wyo.
Dora Natalie Olmsted, 77, of Powell, Wyo., died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at her home.
She was born on April 2, 1927, near Mesa, to Robert H. and Goldie V. Porter Elliott. She married Gene Olmsted, on March 25, 1960, in Powell, Wyo. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and equally as skilled at knitting and crocheting, family members said. Following graduation from nursing school, she worked in Portales. She moved to Cody in 1957, where she became the director of nurses. She also lived and worked in Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Wayne C. Elliott.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Diann K. Kidder (and husband, Fred) of Castle Rock, Colo.; four sons, Mark A. Olmsted (Victoria A.) of Lakewood, Colo.; Andrew J. Olmsted (Patricia A.) of Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; Frederick J. Olmsted (Tracey L.) of Ramona, Calif.; and Richard G. Olmsted of Eagle, Colo.; two brothers, John H. Elliott of Portales and Tommy M. Elliott of Meade, Kan.; eight sisters, Lois W. Cavosos of Stanley, Irene H. Marshall of Las Cruces, Joan F. Goyne of Lubbock, Alice A. Gossett. Betty S. Gossett, R. Rose Rector and Burma L. Stark, all of Portales; and Mary E. Burch of Christianburg, Va.; nine grandchildren, Gregory A. Kidder, Michael L. Kidder, Leilani A. Olmsted, Marquis A. Olmsted, Shawn M. Olmsted, Ryan A. Olmsted, Ronnie Borrelli, Chance L. Olmsted and Trevor J. Olmsted.
Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell, Wyo.
Services are under the direction of Ballard Funeral Home of Cody.

Lawrence Thurman
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at the Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
Lawrence (Bob) Thurman, 91, of Farwell, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Farwell Convalescent Center.
Mr. Thurman was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Hopkins County, Texas, to Robert and Dollie Thurman.
He came from a large family in which he had 11 brothers and sisters. He moved to Clovis in the 1940s and was a World War II veteran. He owned and operated Western Wrecking Yard on Mabry Drive for 27 years. He loved to fish and “wheel and deal” in used cars and trucks, family members said.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen; his second wife, Eloise; one infant son, Larry Lynn Thurman, and a daughter, Georgia Carol Brock Rizzuti.
He is survived by a son, Robert Thurman of Farwell; two daughters, Roberta Cameron of Tucson, Ariz., and Linda Stensvad of Clovis; four grandsons, Eric Brock of New York, Scott Stensvad of Clovis, Trevor Thurman of Clovis and Jacob Thurman of Clovis; a granddaughter, Cydney Thurman of Clovis and a sister, Kate Gerdy of Portales.
The Rev. Roy H. Stewart will officiate services.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Janice Ward
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Steed-Todd Chapel.
Janice Gayle Ward, 51 of Rio Rancho, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at her home in Rio Rancho.
Miss Ward was born March 3, 1954, in Clovis to Henry Allen and Dorothy Marie Fisher Ward.
Family members said she was diagnosed with mental retardation at the age of 6. Her parents were charter members of the Curry County Association of Retarded Children.
Miss Ward was a governing board member of the Silver Bullet Civitan Club where she donated many hours helping people in need. She often spent holidays singing with the
Salvation Army’s Carolers at Christmas.
Family members remembered her joyous laughter, her feisty nature, and her desire to make things better for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Joanne Ward Campbell, and a brother, John William Ward.
She is survived by two sisters, Jeannie Marie Ward and her guardian/sister Jennifer Dirindia Ward, both from the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area; a brother, Joel Denton Ward of the Albuquerque Rio Rancho area; two sisters-in-law, Rose Mary Williams and Lynna Hunter and several aunts and cousins.
A visitation will take place at Steed-Todd Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight. A memorial service is also planned in Albuquerque.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the ARC of New Mexico, ARCA, Adelante Development Center, Families Plus, RCI, Goodwill, and especially to Dungarvin New Mexico, or a DD provider of your choice, will be accepted by the family.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
