Ruth Evans
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Ruth Evans, 61, of Dora, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at her home.
She was born on May 30, 1942, in Alma, Okla., to Vera and Walter T. Lane.
She graduated from the Velma-Alma High School in 1960 and went on to study at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla. Following her graduation, she accepted a position as a bookkeeper at Lubbock Christian University. She married Thurston Evans, on Dec. 3, 1966, in Dora. She was active in the community and at Dora Church of Christ. Family members said she could always be counted on to bring one of her coconut cream pies or a wonderful chocolate cake to any church dinner. In 1980, Mrs. Evans became a secretary in the Science Deptartment at Eastern New Mexico University. She retired from that position in July of 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Lane Evans (and wife, Angel) of Portales; two daughters, Lynne McLaughlin (Jeff) and Leigh Hays (Kelley), all of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Christopher Bryce and Meagan Alyssa McLaughlin and Hannah Brook Evans; a brother, Walter Lane (Debbie) of Lake Whitney, Texas; a sister, Beth Hatfield (Perry) of Crestview, Fla.
Doug Hale will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Dora.
Pallbearers are Dr. Anthony Genero, Dr. Marvin Lutnesky, Dr. Robert Pierce, Robert Locke Jr., Roy Custer and Mickey Burkett.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Louis Faris
Services: Have been held.
Louis Clifton Faris, 83, of Los Lunas, died Friday, May 21, 2004.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1920, in Black Tower, to James Marvin and Delia Ellen Eller Faris.
He married Velmoise Verba Tye on Oct. 11, 1946.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a sister, Mary Lou Harrington; and a brother, James Faris.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Moore, Judy Ivanowski, Joyce Barlow and Loretta Faris; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Being one of New Mexico’s finest, true cowboys, Clifton moved his wife and family when he accepted a job as the foreman of the largest ranch/farm in the Animas area. Many years later after the girls had all grown and moved, Clifton and Velmoise retired to Los Lunas to be near other family.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors of Albuquerque.
Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, 924-C Menual Blvd. N.E. in Albuquerque.
Arrangements are by Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors of Albuquerque.

Betty Farrell
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Betty Lou Farrell,74, of Clovis, a homemaker, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, Clovis.
She was born Oct. 11, 1928, Pine Bluff, Ark., to Arnold Hobson and Eula Strahn.
She married Charles Farrell in 1961 in Albuquerque. Family members said she enjoyed her family, birds and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Anna Mae Veazey.
She is survived by two sons, Dan Wolfe (and wife, Kathy) of Clovis and Larry Wolfe (and wife, Sheila) of Portales; seven grandchildren, Jessica Wolfe of Dallas, Shane and Richard Wolfe, both of Albuquerque, Jennifer and Jason Wolfe, both of Clovis, and Emily and Will Hodnett, both of Portales; and a great-grandchild, Taylor Wolfe of Albuquerque.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Junetta Fleming
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Mrs. Junetta Fleming, 92, of Las Vegas, Nev., a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003.
She was born March 10, 1911, in Cleveland, Okla.
She was a resident of Las Vegas since 1988.
She is survived by a son, Charles A. Fleming; a brother, Harold Eiseman of Oklahoma; three sisters, Doris Brown, Lois Johnson and Florence Brunson, all of Oklahoma; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Arrangements are by Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home of Las Vegas.

Raymond Fleming
Services: Have been held.
Raymond Lee Fleming, 88, of Lubbock, died died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, in Lubbock.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1915, in Quero, Texas, to Ozias Denton and May Elizabeth Fleming.
He married Lula Marie Beall on Oct. 25, 1936 in Clovis. He worked as a farmer, ranch hand, carpenter, home-builder, shipbuilder, store-owner and car dealer. He served multiple terms as mayor for the cities of Melrose, Friona and Dimmitt, Texas. He had many trades, titles and hobbies during his lifetime, but in his soul, he was a builder. He built neighborhoods, communities, relationships, friendships, churches and most importantly a family.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ray Dean Fleming; and a daughter, LaVon Reeve; seven grand-children, Kipi Ward, Karla Dixon, Reese and Loyd Fleming, Jay Reeve, Julie Banfield and Jamie Epperson; 12 great-grandchildren, Haylee, Jalayna, and Brooklyn Ward, Dallas, Sasha and Trapper Dixon, Brittany, Ashley and Macy Reeve, Parker and Taryn Banfield and Emily Epperson; a son-in-law, Don Reeve; a daughter-in-law, Jan Fleming; three grandson-in-laws, Milon Dixon, Kirk Banfield and Casey Epperson; a granddaughter-in-law, Rhonda Reeve; three brothers, Lawrence, Fred and O.D. Fleming Jr.; and two sisters, Dorothy and Doris Jean.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Melrose Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 7 p.m. (CDT) until 8 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lubbock Children’s Home.
Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Helmi Heikkila Floersheim
Services: Have been held.
Helmi Heikkila Floersheim, 90, of Colfax County, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at the Colfax County General Long Term Care Nursing Facility in Springer.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1913, in Quincy, Mass., to Elida Maria Vuorinen and Anshelm Heikkila.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Torvo and Earl Heikkila; and two sisters, Helen Heikkila and Viola Rose.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Elizabeth Floersheim of Clovis and Barbara Floersheim Smith (and husband, Bryce) of Mills; two grandchildren, Kimberly Nell Smith and Brandon Smith of Mills; a sister, Ella Kamper of Warwick, R.I.; a brother, Robert Heikkila of Rockport, Mass.; two friends, Sue John and Sara McLeod, both of Clovis; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Vaughn Neshiem will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colfax County General Long Term care Nursing Facility, P.O. Box 458, Springer 87747.

Cruz Flores

Cruz Flores, 66, of Clovis, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on June 15, 1937, in Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ramon and Ignacia Hernandez Calzadillas.
She married Santiago Flores on Feb. 13, 1956, in Namiquipa. They came to Clovis in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rafaela Calzadillas; and a daughter, Maria De Los Angeles Flores.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Rafael, Nelson and Joel Flores, all of Clovis; a daughter, Maria de la Luz Flores of Clovis; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Natividad Chacon, Angela Chavirra, Rita Martinez and Avigael Chavirra; and a brother, Ramon Calzadillas.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis with Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating.
Father Sotero Sena will officiate the services.
Burial will be held at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers are Edgar, Rafael Jr., Allen, Kevin, Nelson Jr. and Steven Ray Flores.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Roy Foote
Services: Have been held.
Roy Foote, 83, of Tucumcari, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in Amarillo.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1919, in Orlando, Okla.
He was an active farmer and rancher in the Tucumcari area for many years.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Slater of Clovis, Donna Brasher of Amarillo, and Mary Foote of Tucumcari; sons Carl Foote of Tucumcari, and Donald Foote of Santa Rosa; brothers, Rex Foote of Tucumcari, and Dean Foote of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters Doris Bugg of Raton, Dorothy Williams of Perry, Okla., and Clara Wiseman of Morrison, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Bill Bowman will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.

Donella Forbes
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Donella Forbes, 69, of Liberal, Kan., died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1933, in Clovis to Ottas and Lottie Harliss Kirby. She attended school in Clovis. She and her family moved to Liberal in April 1969. She was a member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal.
On March 7, 1952, she married Bill Forbes in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold; and one sister, Juanita.
Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home in Liberal; one son, Jay (and wife Pam) Forbes of Goddard, Kan.; four daughters, Jan (and husband Mike) Bender of Tulsa, Okla., Donna Brown of Wichita, Kan., Connie (and husband Kevin) Seymore of Wichita, Kan., and Judy (and husband Danny) McNabb of Turpin, Okla.; four brothers, her twin Don Kirby of Clovis, Hershel (and wife Dorothy) Rupe of Joplin, Mo., Oliver Rupe of Amarillo and Wallace Rupe of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Edith (and husband Eual) Allen of Amarillo and Fern (and husband Hugh) Graham of Corinth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Ron Suiter will officiate the services.
Burial will follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal.
Arrangements are by Miller Mortuary of Liberal.

Dr. Harvey Forbes
Services: Have been held
Dr. Harvey Forbes, 84, of Wheat Ridge, Colo., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1918, in Antonito, Colo., to William Wallace and Edna Ruth White Forbes.
He was raised in Clovis. He attended the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Dentistry, graduating in 1952. He had a successful dental practice in Kansas City, Mo., before retiring in 1985. In 1998 he and his wife Berwyn Slaten returned to Colorado to be near their children and grandchild.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kim Schondelmeyer of Littleton, Colo.; two sons, Kraig and Jeff Forbes, both of Vail Valley, Colo.; and a grandson, Slaten Forbes of Vail Valley, Colo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Exempla Lutheran Hospice Residence, 3800 West 38th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colo., 80033.

Mrs. Lola Fay Foster
Mrs. Lola Fay Foster, 62, of Fort Sumner, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
She was born on April 13, 1941, in Cuervo, to Johnny and Edna Harrison Cones.
She moved to Fort Sumner in 1943 where she attended school. She married Dick Foster on Aug. 30, 1958, in Clovis. Family members said she enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening.
She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Loyd Cones; and a sister, Grace Foster.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Lee Foster (and wife, Karen) and Bobby Foster (and wife, DeAnna), all of Fort Sumner; 11 grandchildren, Travis Foster (and wife, Vanessa), Lewis Meadows, Stacy Brown (and husband, Carl), Stephanie Barton, Jessica Barton and Racheal Chavez, all of Fort Sumner, Christopher Meadows of Roswell, Brandon Foster and Royce Foster (and wife, Verneda), all of Clovis, and Elizabeth McConnell and Christina McConnell, both of Corona; one great-grandchild, Tianna Lopez of Fort Sumner; two sisters Annie Mae Finney and Lois Roper; a brother, Clarence Cones; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Anna Teeter officiated the services.
Pallbearers were Jon Trotter, Dub Head, Joe Gammill, Justin Ingram, Clifford Gunn and Kelly Olguin.
Honorary pallbearer was A.J. Harden.
Arrangements were by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.

Clarence Fought
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Clarence Luther Fought, 75, of Payson, Ariz., died Sunday, June 22, 2003, in Payson.
He was born April 3, 1928, in San Jon.
Family members said he was a cowboy by heart and a carpenter by trade. He was in the U.S. Air Force for nine years and was a Korean War veteran. He was a member of South Payson congregation of Jehovah’s Witness and a full-time volunteer minister.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fought, of Payson; three sons, Marshall Fought of San Antonio, Texas, John Fought of Phoenix and Dale Fought of Buckeye, Ariz.; a daughter, Lynn Noack of Clovis; a sister, Ollie Gant of Clovis; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at San Jon Cemetery, San Jon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses, Payson Congregation, 1616 N. McLane Road, Payson, AZ 85541.
Arrangements are by Messinger Payson Funeral Home of Payson.

Bill Franks

Mr. W.R. “Bill” Franks, 78, of Fort Sumner, a businessman, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Farwell Convalescent Center.
He was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to William McKinley Franks and Fay Underwood.
He graduated from White Deer High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served abord the USS Saratoga in the South Pacific. He returned to Fort Sumner in 1947 to assist with the family grocery store, where he retired in 1986. He married Charlene Bowen on May 18, 1948, in Santa Rosa. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Cynthia Elaine Hall of Plano, Texas; a son, William Bruce Franks (and wife, Carol) of Albuquerque; a brother, Donald Franks (Bobbie) of Fort Sumner; two sisters, Vida Pruitt of Lubbock and Adie Achen (Ty) of Las Cruces; and four grandchildren, William David Lewis of McKinney, Texas, and Shannon, Allison, and Jill Franks, all of Albuquerque.
The Revs. Coy Brewer and Jim Peabody will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Duke, Jim Walling, John McMillan, Curtis Crawford, Steve Gallegos, Bobby Russ, Don Sweet and Jake West.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Chavez Funeral Home and from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM 88119; or the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 287, Fort Sumner, NM 88119.

Clarence Fritzler
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Clarence F. Fritzler, 81, of Creswell, Ore., formerly of Clovis, died Friday, May 23, 2003.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1921, in Bazine, Kan., to Jacob and Mary Lorenz Fritzler.
He graduated from Benson High School in Portland, Ore., in 1942. He joined the Navy where he attained the rank of Petty Officer 1st Class. After being discharged he joined the Air Force where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was discharged in 1972. His military service included World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He married Ester Meister Norder on Dec. 19, 1944, in Portland. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3015, the Military Order of the Cootie and of Holiday Park Assembly of God in Portland. Following the death of his second wife, Irene Fritzler, in 1993, he left Clovis to move to Independence, Mo., and then to Creswell.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnne Swift; four brothers; and his wife, Irene Fritzler of Clovis.
He is survived by his wife, Esther of Portland; a daughter, Denette Hammond of Creswell, Ore.; a son, Michael Fritzler of Crooked River Ranch in Terrebonne, Ore.; a brother, Roy Fritzler of Portland; a sister, Alvina Dietz of Portland; seven grandchildren; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the VFW National Children’s Home, 3573 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids, Mich.
Arrangements are by England’s Creswell Memorial Chapel of Creswell, Ore.

Barbara Fuller
Services: No local services are planned
Barbara Ann Fuller, 71, of Fort Sumner, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1932, in McAdo, Texas, to George W. and Julia Beatrice Boren Shaw.
She was raised in Fort Sumner where she graduated from high school. She married Glenn E. Fuller on July 22, 1958, in South Carolina. They moved to Fort Sumner in 1980. She was an artist who enjoyed oil painting and ceramics. She taught ceramics at the Fort Sumner Senior Citizens Center. Family members said she enjoyed gardening, motorcycling and traveling across the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant daughter, Barbara Eileen.
Survivors include her husband; a step-son, Richard Fuller (and wife, Linda) of Orange, Calif.; a step-daughter, Debra Stefan of Henderson, Nev.; two brothers, George C. Shaw (Evelyn) and Robert M. Shaw, both of Clovis; and two grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.

Francis Fuller
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Francis Fuller, 83, of Portales, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1919, in Kintyre, N.D., to Amanda and Francis M. Fuller.
He grew up on the family farm in Kintyre. He and two brothers served in Europe and two other brothers served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was in the 8th Air Force of the Army Air Corps. He married Lea Essig on July 5, 1943, in Napoleon, N.D. They moved to Tucumcari in 1994 and then Portales in 1999. Family members said he enjoyed farming, seemed to always have animals of one kind or another, was an avid reader, and liked hunting and sports of all kind. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Albert, Orvis, George, Lynn, Robert and Clifford Fuller; a son, Curtis Ray Fuller; and a grandson, Mark Howard Fuller.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Howard Fuller (and wife, Joan) of Lebanon, Mo.; two daughters, Frances L. Gunsch (and husband, Donald) of Longmont, Colo., and Dorothy Nelson (and husband, Wendell) of Clovis; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harlan Fuller of Steele, N.D.
Sven Frantzen, Dennis Harper and Johnny Lindsey will officiate the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1856, Clovis, NM 88101.
