David Warnick Marley
Services: Have been held.
David Warnick Marley, 95, of Carlsbad, Calif., died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003.
He was born on June 23, 1908, in Lamesa, Texas, to William Samuel and Florence N. Christopher Marley.
He taught school in Curry, Roosevelt and Lea counties. For several years he was the principal of Lindsey Elementary School in Portales.
Survivors include his three sons, Gerald, Albert and J. Donovan Marley; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Burial will be at Greenwood Mausoleum in San Diego, Calif.
Arrangements are by Featheringill Mortuary of San Diego.

Eula Marley
Services: Have been held.
Eula Mae Marley, 95, formerly of Portales, a retired schoolteacher, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Carlsbad, Calif.
She was born on May 10, 1907, in Morgan Mill, Texas, to Frank and Daisy Bass.
Her family moved to the New Mexico Territory by covered wagon and homesteaded north of Tatum in 1911. After graduating from Tatum High School in 1925, she began her 30 years of teaching in a one-room school in Pitchfork. In 1928, she married David Marley, a classmate since the eighth grade. She moved to Portales in 1944, and taught elementary grades for 32 years in Dora, retiring in 1969. After celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 1978, the Marleys followed their four children to California.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Florence Dean Chansler, in 2000.
Survivors include her husband, David, of Carlsbad, Calif.; three sons, Dr. Albert D. “Buddy” Marley of Agoura Hills, Calif., Donovan Marley of Denver and Dr. Gerald Marley of Santa Ana, Calif.; one sister, Yuneva Kirk; and eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Arrangements were handled by Featheringill Mortuary of San Diego.

Juan C. Marquez
Services: Have been held
Juan C. Marquez Sr., 82, of Belen, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004.
He worked as a boilermaker with AT&SF for more than 35 years, retiring in 1980. He spent his retirement years pursuing his passion of farming and raising cattle.
He was preceded in death by daughters Mary Marquez, Florinda Cordova and Neva Brady; son Rudy Marquez Sr.; grandson Joshua Trujeque; and great-grandson Zachary Zambrano.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louisa; son, Chris Marquez; wife, Judy; daughters Gloria Montano (husband Max), Carmen Marquez, Corina Trujeque (Paul), Esther Trujillo and her husband Dennis, Jean Ruof and her husband Jim, Lori Kurtz and her husband James; daughter-in-law Lena Marquez; son-in-law Mike Brady; 32 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Rosary were held Friday at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel.
A final visitation was held Saturday at Our lady of Belen Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Parish Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jaime Marquez, Roman Marquez, Jeremy Trujeque, Anthony Trujillo, Brian Ruof, and Sebastian Kurtz.
Honorary pallbearers were all of his other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Arrangements by Riverside Funeral Home of Belen.

Maria Candeleria Marquez
Services: Have been held.
Maria Candeleria Marquez, 69, Clovis, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born April 16, 1934, in Ramadero to Luciano and Francisquita Marquez Garcia.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Florinda Hernandez of Portales, Joan Martinez (and husband Jimmy) of Clovis and Eleanor Payen of Lovington; seven sons, Roy Gallegos (Darlene), Fabian Gallegos (Penny), Ruben Gallegos (Teresa) and Robert Marquez, all of Clovis, Carlos Gallegos (Virginia) of Portales, Joe Gallegos (Maria) of Tulsa, Okla., and Tino Gallegos (Yolanda) of Tucumcari; five sisters, Lola Gonzales, Berna Baca, Maggie Sotelo and Eva Baca, all of Albuquerque, and Angela Padilla of Portales; three brothers, Ralph Garcia and Ricardo Garcia, both of Willard, and Bello Garcia of California; 36 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church in Willard.
Burial will be at El Rosario Cemetery in Willard.
Pallbearers will be granddaughters.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Shirley Marshall
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Shirley Mae Marshall, 71, of De Baca County, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.
She was born on March 7, 1932, in Fort Sumner, to Thomas Shirley and Myrtle Mae Patterson Conwell.
She attended Fort Sumner public schools. She married Hubert R. Marshall on March 24, 1950, in Santa Rosa. She worked for her grandfather who owned the Patterson Insurance Agency in Fort Sumner and later worked for the Department of Human Services for several years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Family members said she enjoyed painting, bowling, fishing, traveling with the “Evil Eight” and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Linda Lee Marshall; and an infant brother, Donny.
She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Marcia Vick (and husband, John) of Gordonville, Texas; a son, Tommy Marshall (and wife, Tricia) of Fort Sumner; two sisters, Jackie Barbee (and husband, Bill) of Azle, Texas, and Mary Ann Hackworth (and husband, Gerald) of Goose Creek, S.C.; four grandchildren, Scott and Keith Marshall, both of Fort Sumner, Michawn Rucker of Coeur D Alene, Idaho and Rex Vick of Dallas; seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Mitch Gray and the Rev. Coy Brewer will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rex and Jeff Vick, Scott and Keith Marshall, Stephen Barbee and Terry Rucker.
Memorials contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5800 Lomas Blvd., Albuquerque, NM 87110.
Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.

Glynn B. Martin
Services: Have been held.
Glynn B. Martin, 81, of Clovis, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born on July 18, 1922, in Coalgate, Okla., to Lee and Dora Martin.
He married Lorraine Case on June 27, 1949, in Amarillo. He worked as a distributor for Tom’s and retired in 1984 after 30 years. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post 19, a lifetime member at the Elks Lodge 1172 and a member of VFW in Tucumcari. He was of the Episcopal faith. Family members said he loved to play golf and fish.
He was preceded by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Case of Atoka, Okla., and Betty Bates of Nevada, Mo.; and five nieces.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Conchas Dam Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 60, Conchas Dam, N.M. 88416.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

O.T. Martin
Services: No services planned.
O.T. Martin, 70, of Carlsbad died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Carlsbad Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Clovis. He was raised outside of Clovis in Center, where he attended school and worked on a farm. At the age of 18, he went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad and worked there for 40 years until his retirement in 1991.
He moved to Carlsbad in 1958, and married Alice Ray on Sept. 14, 1965. He was a member of the international Brotherhood of Carmen for 40 years and, according to a family member, enjoyed collecting and trading guns and knives as well as hunting for arrow heads.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Jimmie Daile Martin and a granddaughter Brittney Dunn.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; two sons, O.E. “Gene” (and wife) Martin of Clovis and david Martin of Carlsbad; three daughters, Teresa (and husband Ron) Mosier of Carlsbad, Mary Ann Metcalf of Clovis and Gina (and Jedd) Zuniga of Carlsbad; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Friday. Cremation has taken place.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Quessie Mae Martin
Services: Have been held.
Ms. Quessie Mae Martin, 60, of Clovis, a homemaker, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1942, in Clovis, to James T. and Clara Norman Wauford.
She was a lifetime resident of Clovis. She married James Earl Martin on May 31, 1958, in Muleshoe, Texas. She was a member of the First Church of God in Christ and family members said she enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s basketball games.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a brother, Wilma Wauford.
She is survived by her mother; two daughters, Dianna Porter of Abilene, Texas, and Teresa Slocum of Clovis; two sons, Tony Martin of Abilene, Texas, and Tracey Martin of Roswell; four brothers, Robert Wauford of Clovis, Joe and James Wauford, both of Gallup, and J.T. Wauford of California; a sister, Bertha Thomas of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bishop W. Charles Green will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Pollard, William Hall, Ronnie Anaya, Petie Davis, Mark Kinney and Simeon Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Joaquin Martinez
Services: Have been held
Joaquin Martinez, 71, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Mosquero to Frank and Barbarita Martinez. He worked as a ranch hand most of his life and came to Clovis three months before his death.
Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jacob Martinez.
He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Montes (husband Jose) of Encino; Julie Andrada (Albert) of Tucumcari; Bonnie Cordova (Jimmy) of Clovis; and Cathy Scaggs (Kevin) of Greenup, Ky. He also is survived by two sons, Ernest Martinez (Loretta) and Danny Maes of Clovis; two sisters, Margaret Mata of Mosquero and Isabel Ortiz (Alfred) of Pueblo, Colo.; and by 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Burial was at the cemetery of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mosquero.

Juana Martinez
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Juana Martinez, 59, of Portales, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born Jan. 26, 1944, in Toyahvale, Texas, to Gavina and Jose Hernandez.
She married Tranquilino A. Martinez on March 17, 1981, in Pecos, Texas. They moved to Portales in 1986. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Los Abuelitos at La Casa de Buena Salud and Portales Senior Citizens. Family members said she enjoyed playing bingo, making ceramic projects and watching her grandchildren play sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Tim Hernandez; two sisters, Mary Rede and Margarita Natividad; and three grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Ignacio Guevas of Portales and Crecencio Rede Jr. of Odessa, Texas; a stepson, Jose Hernandez of Portales; four daughters, Connie Duran (and husband, Placido), Josie Maestas (and husband, Mat) and Anna Baltazar (and husband, Joel), all of Portales, and Terry Gannon (and husband, Greg) of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, Jose Hernandez of Pecos, Texas.
A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at St. Helen Catholic Church in Portales.
Father Tobin Hitt will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Maestas, Joel Baltazar, Israel and Jose Hernandez, Mario Dominguez and Greg Gannon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Maestas, Johnny and Joel Baltazar, Harvey Cuevas and Mingo Duran.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Juanita Martinez
Services: Will be held at a later date.
Juanita Martinez, 83, of Lorena, Texas, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1919, in Puerto Rico, to Juan Martinez and Lucrecia Medina.
She was a retired executive secretary.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include two daughters, Margarita Dillon (and husband, John) of Clovis and Carmen Hennessey (Michael) of Robinson, Texas; six grandchildren, Nina Russell, Cherith and Karen Irizarry, Karina Langan, Debbie Snipes and Arnold Conti; six great-grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are by Pecan Grove Funeral Home of Waco, Texas.

Manuel Martinez
Services: Have been held.
Manuel Silva “M.S.” Martinez, 92, of Portales, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales.
He was born June 5, 1911, in El Paso, Texas, to Vincenta and Mateo Lopez.
He was the youngest of three children and his father died before he was born. His stepfather, Juan Martinez, adopted the children. He grew up in Canadian, Texas. He married Frances Briggs on July 27, 1929, in Sayre, Okla. He worked 48 years for the Santa Fe Railway in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. In 1975, he retired as a foreman in the Amarillo yards. After retiring, he moved to Kingfisher, Okla. In 1982 he moved to Portales, where he made his home until his death. As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball. In the 1930s he played semi-pro ball in Kansas City, Mo. He was a Catholic and the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his natural father; his adoptive father, Juan Martinez; his mother; a daughter, Glenda Howell; a brother, Jose Martinez; a sister, Mary Gutierrez; and his wife.
Survivors include three sons, Marty Martinez of Portales, Tim Martinez of Holtville, Calif., and David Martinez of Oklahoma City; and 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Father David Cortreras will be the celebrant.
Burial will be at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Wheeler Mortuary of Portales is handling arrangements.

Sandra Garcia Martinez
Services: Have been held.
Sandra Garcia Martinez, 42, of Portales, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at her home.
She was born on July 24, 1961, in Portales, to Veneranda and Frank Garcia.
She grew up in Portales and was a 1979 graduate of Portales High School. She went on to attend Highland University for a year. She was employed at the local Alco store for 13 years. She worked at the local Wal Mart Store where she was the Customer Service Manager from 1998 until 2000 . She married Charles Martinez on Sept. 3, 1999, in Portales. Family members said she enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, doing crafts of various kinds and singing.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Charles Martinez II of the home; two daughters, Alandra and Ashley Martinez both of the home; her parents; eight brothers, Claudio Garcia and Simon Garcia, both of Grants, Pat Garcia of Mora, Ernest Garcia of Stockton, Calif., and Jimmy Garcia, Frankie Garcia, Steve Garcia and Joseph Garcia, all of Portales; four sisters, Sally Clarkson of Kansas City, Mo., Maybelle Carrasco of Oregon, Stella Majhor of Las Vegas, N.M. and Lillian Rogers of Stockton, Calif.
The Revs. Bob Cemer and Joe Majhor will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve, Joseph and Simon Garcia, Wayne Rogers, Thomas Rivera and Jessie Grijalva.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
