Felipe Padilla
Services: Have been held.
Felipe Abenicio Padilla, 94, of Clovis died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Cuervo “Conant,” N.M., to Vences Lado and Cirilia Padilla. He married Leanor Maez on Oct. 11, 1937, in Santa Rosa. They came to Clovis in 1944, and he worked as a laborer in ranching and farming. He later worked for the Clovis Schools where he later retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community.
Survivors include his wife Leanor Padilla of Clovis; four sons, Alfonso (and wife Rosalia) Padilla, Pat Padilla, and Eddie (Berta) Padilla, all of Clovis, and Conrad (Betty) Padilla of Albuquerque; five daughters, Gloria (Chris) Sanchez, Tina (Jimmy) Romero and Loraine Padilla, all of Clovis, Christine (Ralph) Torres of Plant City, Fla., and Janet Padilla of Satellite Beach, Fla.; 34 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angelina Garcia; a brother, Roman Padilla; two sisters, Antonia Padilla and Deluvina Chavez; a great-grandson, Ralph Torres; and two great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be wais at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community.
The Rev. Sotero Sena will officiate. Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Alfonso A. Padilla Jr., Conrad Padilla, Chris Sanchez, Andy Garcia, Ricky Torres and Edward Padilla.

Pauline Palady
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Pauline Geselle Palady, 74, of Clovis, died June 4, 2004, at Laurel Ridge Healthcare in Clovis.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1929, in Three Rivers, Quebec, Canada to Arthur and Maria Allard Martel.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved by everyone who met her. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. One of her favorite pastimes was taking pictures of her children and grandchildren. She was in love with her Lord and will be missed greatly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several sisters.
Mrs. Palady is survived by her husband, Eugene Palady of the home in Clovis; three daughters, Caroline Mills (and husband Kerry) of Big Spring, Texas, Teresa Tucker (Randy) of Amarillo, Paula Howard (Butch) of Arkansas; three sons, Mark Palady (and wife Gayla) of Roundrock, Texas, Jerry Palady (Linda) of Ovilla, Texas, and Jim Palady (Punkin) of Brownsboro, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Joe Bledsoe will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Mark Palady, James Palady, Jerry Palady, Randy Tucker, Kerry Mills and Charles Howard.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Annie L. Partin
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Annie L. Partin, 90, of Portales, died Friday, April 25, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born April 13, 1913, in House, to Laura (Stroud) and William Curren Russell.
She moved to the Hiway community when she was a girl. She married Bryant Partin on Nov. 7, 1931, in Portales. They farmed in the Richland area for several years. In the late 1930s she moved to Portales. She owned and managed beauty shop for 49 years. She also bought and sold numerous properties around Portales.
She was a member of the University Baptist Church and also of the Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, John Curren Russell, Willie Garner Russell, Robert “Pet” Javan Russell and Henry Albert “Boots” Russell; three sisters, Goldie Fish, Jewell Jackson and Ella Marie Gillet; and by her husband, who died in 1982.
Survivors include a sister, Ellen Ruth Goodwin of Portales; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Alan Berry will officiate the services.
Burial will be Mt. Zion Cemetery in Dora.
Pallbearers will be Willie Blackwell, Bradley Blackwell, Ronald Blackwell, Tommy Hohstadt, Truman Hohstadt and Alvie Peacock.
Wheeler Mortuary of Portales is handling arrangements.

Gisela Patzt
Services: Have been held.
Ms. Gisela Martha Patzt, 75, of Logan, formerly of Clovis, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.
She was born in 1928, in Braslau, Germany.
She married Walter Patzt. They made their home in Clovis before moving to Logan in 1996.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Pete and Gary Patzt, both of Dumas, Texas; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Logan Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari.

Jack Pawol
Services: Have been held.
Jack Carrington Pawol, 66, of Clovis, a retired pharmacist, died Saturday, July 5, 2003, in Lubbock, Texas.
He was born Dec. 8, 1936, in Clovis to Stanley and Maxine McCombs Pawol.
He received his bachelor of science degree from Notre Dame and his master’s degree in pharmacology from the University of New Mexico. He established pharmacies in Hawaii and New Mexico and was a member of the New Mexico Pharmacists Association
He married Nola Marsh on March 7, 1981, in Clovis. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Family members said he enjoyed cooking, family, friends, golf and Notre Dame football.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Pawol; and a sister, Ann Butler.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, James Pawol of Richland, Wash., Christopher Pawol of Amarillo, and Eric Marsh (and wife Betsy) of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Zena Davidson (and Pat) of Libertyville, Ill., Mendy Marsh of New York City, N.Y., and Amanda Ford (and Elliott) of Clovis; one sister, Sandra Overack (and husband Dan) of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Rosary service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Sotero Sena will officiate the services.
At Mr. Pawol’s request, his body was donated to the University of New Mexico Medical School.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart building fund, 911 Merriwether, Clovis; or to the Plains Regional Medical Center Home Health Hospice, 1600 W. 21st St., Clovis.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

PEARL HOLBROOK
Services: Have been held.
Pearl Frances Holbrook, 90, died Oct. 9, 2003 at St. John’s Living Center in Jackson, Wyo.
She was born Dec. 26, 1913, to Henry and Grace Curtis. Her parents homesteaded in Roosevelt County in 1906. Mrs. Holbrook attended school in the Fairfield community south of Texico/Farwell. At 15, she married Lloyd W. Vaughan of the Hollene community. They soon moved to a farm northeast of Melrose, where her three children were born and grew up. After moving to Clovis in 1943, she worked as a waitress for the Fox Drugstore at 4th and Main Streets. She later bought the Duck Inn restaurant. In 1947, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and, later, to Clarksville, Ark. In April 2000 she relocated to a farm and ranch near Riverton, Wyo., and moved to Jackson in April 2003, when her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Lloyd Vaughan and Homer Holbrook; five brothers and two grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Fulgham (husband Benny) of Clovis; and Frances ElNora Borden (husband Harold) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son Doyle Ray Vaughn (wife Dianna) of Jackson, Wyo. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Frank Poynor
Services: Have been held.
Frank Poynor, 72, of Granbury, Texas, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, in Granbury.
He was born on July 19, 1931, in Malverne, Ark., to Robert and Maedelle Daniel Poynor.
He married Margie Gregg on May 20, 1952, in Littlefield, Texas. He was in numerous civic organizations and clubs; family members said her would have chosen to be remembered for his love for people and the Lord. Although he was very successful in business and ranching, family members said his greatest accomplishment was seeing his children love God. Family members said he died while doing what he loved to do — bicycling on the open road.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Renae Riley (and husband, Larry) of Dallas, Fran Pohlman (and husband, Mike) of Dallas and Denise Carthel (and husband, Rick) of Arkansas; four brothers, Marlin Poynor of Portales, Haney Poynor of Granbury, Paul Poynor of Muleshoe and Bobby Poynor of Lubbock; a sister, Margaret Ann Lindquist of Granbury; and six grandchildren, Ryan and Ashlee Riley, Lindsay and Landon Carthel and Blake and Mari Pohlman.
Burial will be at Holly Hills Memorial Park in Granbury.
Arrangements are by Wiley Funeral Home of Granbury.

John Pruitt
Services: Have been held.
Mr. John “Honest John” Pruitt, 77, of Clovis, a welder, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born on July 2, 1927, in Foreman, Ark., to George and Rose Terrell Pruitt.
He was well known as “Honest John.” He married Dorothy Cassidy on March 14, 1953, in Melrose. He spent 23 years in the Air Force, retiring in 1969. After his retirement he worked for Lockhead in San Antonio, Texas. In 1974 he moved to Clovis where he had “Honest John’s Welding.” He was a member of Sandia Baptist Church, Melrose Masonic Lodge No. 39 and Melrose OES Chapter No. 30. Family members said he loved doing projects around his home, that he was a great guy and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his foster parents, Fred and Ida Burch.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Doyle Pruitt (and wife, Mary) of Eunice, Bob Burch (Joyce) of Clovis and Bill Burch (Jan) of Phoenix; a sister, Marge Thornton (Joe) of Phoenix; a half-sister, Della Gardner (Paul) of Oklahoma.
Bill Burch and the Rev. Tom Thornton will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell with Masonic graveside rites by Melrose Masonic Lodge No. 39 and military honors by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Sean Burch, Dave and Brian Woolsey, Victor Lueras, John Ortiz and J.L. Lapp.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.

Mary Pelzel
Services: Have been held.
Mary A. Pelzel, 84, of Hays, Kan., died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Hays Medical Center in Hays.
She was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Catherine, Kan., to Fred and Margaret Dinkel Schmidt.
She married Alphonse Pelzel. She worked in housekeeping at a university in Hays. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Fidelis, Joe and Alex Schmidt; and a sister, Kate Quint.
Survivors include her husband, Alphonse, of Hays; four sons, Leon of Hays, Dave of Ellsworth, Kan., Steve of Larned, Kan., and Jerry of Salina, Kan.; a daughter, Diana Darnell of Clovis; four brothers, Hilary Schmidt and Marcellus Schmidt, both of Hays, Clarence Schmidt of Montana and John Schmidt of Great Bend, Kan.; four sisters, Tina Likiareopolous of Wichita, Kan., Ann Schmidt of Plainville, Kan., Marge Schmidt of Hays and Jane Jacobs of Minneapolis; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
An Eagles Auxiliary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. (CDT) today, and a parish vigil will be held at 7 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hays.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Unit at the Hays Good Samaritan Center, 2700 Canal Blvd., Hays, KS 67601.

Carlos Pena
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Carlos Pena, 94, of Portales, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
He was born on March 9, 1909, in Pedernal, to Apolonita and Segundo Padilla.
He grew up near Encino. He married Lucinda Lorranega in 1933, in Villanueva. She preceded him in death. He married Guadalupita Chavez on Sept. 23, 1940 in Vaughn. She also preceded him in death. While living in Encino, he was employed by the railroad. In 1956 he moved to Portales, and was employed by Carr Feed and Worley Mills. After he retired from the feed mills, he continued to work as a farm hand. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. Family members said he enjoyed gardening and carpentry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Cruz, Manuel, Raymond and Sam Pena; a sister, Matianita Marquez; a son, Joe Pena; and both of his wives.
Survivors include three sons, Raymond Pena (and wife, Mary) of Albuquerque, Fred Pena (Lupita) of Kansas City, Kan., and George Pena of Portales; three daughters, Lucy Sisneros of Magdalena, Viola Garcia of Portales and Nobelena Pena of Espanola; 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Juan Pena of El Paso, Texas; and a sister, Mary C. Chavez of Portales.
Father Tobin Hitt will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donald and Kyla Sena, Chris Garcia, Joe Marez, Rudy Pena and Frances Stewart.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Marjorie Pena
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Marjorie Doris Hood Pena, 76, of Clovis, a retired school teacher, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at her home.
She was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Byers, Texas.
She received a bachelor’s degree in music from Highlands University and a master’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She was a music teacher for 44 years, retiring in 1990. She taught in Clovis schools from 1957 to 1990, including Parkview, Sandia, Zia and Lincoln-Jackson elementary schools and was choral director at Gattis Junior High School for 25 years. She had been a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church since 1957, singing and directing in the church choir, playing the piano and organ and participating in the handbell choir. She served as treasurer, vice president and president of Plains Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, working in day surgery and sponsoring candy stripers. Family members said she loved music, reading, sewing and friends, and was a supportive and loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Loraine Sigler Hood.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Pemberton of Gallup; a son, Anthony Pena of Nashville, Tenn.; and a grandson, Aaron Pemberton of Gallup.
The Rev. Brad Reeves will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dean Turvaville, Lance Windle, Joel Butler, Raymond Mondragon, Buddy Adrian and Randy Adrian.
Memorial contributions may be made to Plains Regional Medical Center Hospice, 1600 W. 21st St., Clovis, NM 88101.

Francisco Perez
Services: Have been held.
Mr. Francisco Perez, 29, of Clovis, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Palomas, Mexico.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1973, in Mocula, Mexico, to Francisco and Dolores Perez.
He is survived by two daughters; three sisters; and two brothers.
Arrangements were by Rios Funeral Home of Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

AARON C. PERONE
Services: Have been held.
Aaron C. Perone, 29, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, in a Lubbock hospital.
Mr. Perone was born May 21, 1974, at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota.
He spent a large portion of his youth in Oklahoma City, Okla., graduating from Edmond High School.
After high school he worked for a fuels company in Oklahoma City and joined the Army Reserves. Having some degree of familiarity with the military, coupled with a strong influence from his father, Mr. Perone joined the United States Air Force in August of 1995.
He was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base until he was medically discharged on Nov. 1.
Family members said he served his God and country with dedication and distinction, earning him the respect and admiration from his peers. The highlight of his Air Force career was his deployment to the recent war in Iraq. He enjoyed working on computers, collecting oriental items and beer steins.
Survivors include his parents, Art and Sandra Perone of North Richland Hills and Betty Perone of Tulsa, Okla.; step aunt and uncle Eddie and Rosemary Sams of Haltom City, Texas; uncle Albert Magnuson of Minneapolis; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas.
Burial will follow services at Medlin Cemetery in Trophy Club, Texas.
Arrangements are by Shannon Rufe Snow Funeral Chapel.

Helen Piper
Helen Piper, 84, of Clovis, a housekeeper, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Retirement Ranch in Clovis.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1918, in Beaumont, Texas.
She married Elijah Lee Piper in Clovis where she was a housekeeper. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her caregiver, Aria L. Kennedy of Clovis; and a stepdaughter, Ruby Lee Mayfield of Fort Worth, Texas.
The Rev. R.L. Smith will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.

Sara Pippin
Services: Have been held.
Mrs. Sara Pippin, 87, of Clovis, a retired homemaker, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at her home.
She was born May 16, 1916, in Waco, Texas, to James Donald and Sara Elizabeth Bayer Fuller.
She was a teacher in a two-room schoolhouse in Tennessee. She married Conrad “L.C.” Pippin in 1955. They moved to Clovis where they farmed north of town. Family members said she enjoyed many different crafts and has taught on a variety of topics throughout the years. She was a member of the Association of Retarded Citizens, Claud Rainy Day Club and First United Methodist Womens Circle 1 and 2.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son, Don W. Pippin.
She is survived by a daughter, Sammie Hutchison (and husband, Dan) of Cedar Crest; a son, John Pippin of Clovis; two sisters, Ann Davis of Mesa Grande, Calif., and Jo Davis of Escondido, Calif.; 13 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and nephews; 14 great-great nieces and nephews; and a caregiver, Connie Gallegos of Clovis.
Steve McElroy will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.
Pallbearers will be Alan Isbell, Bill Sheridan, Billy Howell, Lynn Lynch, Ken Nagel, Dwayne Carter and Mac Page.
Memorial contributions may be made to a local church, mission or orphanage of choice; New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches (Pippin Youth Ranch); or by planting a tree, bush or flower.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
