Matthew Roy Rivera, 9 years old, passed away unexpectedly on November 16, 2003. He was a 3rd grade student at Ranchos Elementary. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Joe Rivera. He is survived by his parents, Yesenia Devona Concha and Leroy Rivera, brother Steven Lee Rivera and sister, Samantha Anna Rivera. He is also survived by grandparents, Edwin Concha, Evangelina Concha, Josephine Rivera, many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Rosary was recited on November 17, 2003 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on November 18, 2003 at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church. Interment was held at San Francisco cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Natalie Noche, 53, of Zuni. A wake for Natalie Noche was held at the family home in Zuni. Burial took place at Quincy Panteah Memorial cemetery. Noche died in Alb. Nov. 10, 2003, was born Dec. 15, 1949 in Taos. Noche graduated from St. Catherine’s, Santa Fe. She was employed with the Acoma and Zuni Pueblos as a police dispatcher and McDonalds restaurant. Survivors include her husband Robert Noche of Zuni, daughters, Carol Waikaniwa and Victoria Noche both of Zuni, father, Alfred Lujan of Taos Pueblo, sisters, Helen Martinez of Taos Pueblo and Nita Bourriage of Ignacio, CO, brother Robert Shendo of Jemez Pueblo and four grandchildren. Noche was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Lujan and sister, Pat Lujan.

Otto James Murrell, 84, of Cerro passed away on November 11, 2003. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He retired as a construction foreman and currently owned O.J. Murrell Guns in Cerro. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Murrell, sisters, Pamela Bagwell and Ella M. Combs. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Irene Murrell, children; Donald Alan Murrell (Patricia) of Colchester, Vermont and Michael Steven Murrell (Rhonda) of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Esta M. Adams of Hazard, Kentucky, grandchildren; Scott D. Murrell, Amber L. Murrell, Nicole I. R. Murrell, Jamie R. Murrell, David Love, Judith Word, Scott Marks, Richard Marks and Adam Kohn, great grandchildren; Kasey Word, Stephanie, Stephen, Samantha Marks, nieces, Charisse Marie Cody (Michael) and Valera A. Jessee (Fil), nephew, Sid Stephen Adams (Dina), grand niece, Margaret Elizabeth Cody and grand nephew, Daniel Jessee.
Funeral service was held on November 14, 2003 at First Baptist Church in Questa. Interment followed at Cerro cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Ted A. Cisneros, 64, of Questa passed away on November 12, 2003. He retired from Moly Corp in 2001. He is preceded in death by his parents, Finian and Edumenia Cisneros and a sister, Mary Ortega. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Verla Cisneros, children; Eunice Gallegos (Jeff) and Ted Cisneros Jr. and grandson, Zachary Gallegos all from Questa. He is also survived by his brothers; Clyde Cisneros (Ruby) and Modesto Cisneros (Rosie) both from Questa, Mel Martínez (Elsie) from Utah, sisters; Emilia García (Conrad) and Lorena Ortega from Questa, Louella Maestas (Eloy) from Utah, Doris Gonzales (Hector) from Taos, Gera Jaramillo (Andy) from Mora and Cindy Rivera (Larry) from Amalia, parents in law, Rev. Clyde and Priscilla Jacquez from Gallina, NM, brothers and sister in law; Norma Aragon (Alfonso) from Española, Clyde Jácquez Jr. (Joann) and Rick Jácquez (Theresa) both from Farmington, numerous nieces and nephews.
Evening service was held on November 14, 2003. Funeral service was held on November 15, 2003. Both services were held at Taos Foursquare Church. Interment was held at El Buen Pastor cemetery in Questa. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Wallace Mac Hillyer was born on June 16, 1924 to Alfred A. and Euna Mae (McMennamy) Hillyer in Slaton, TX. He graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech with a Masters Degree. He was a teacher in many cities, including Grants, Logan, Tres Piedras, Taos and in Peru. He was a WWII veteran, serving in Normandy, Holland. He loved old movies and old songs, always singing along with his records, he also loved signing in the church choir. Mr. Hillyer was a member of El Pueblito United Methodist Church in Taos, Bent Lodge of the Masonic Order and a Scottish Rite Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Melba Ward (1964) and Erica Robertson (1996) and a niece, Paula Tucker (1976). He is survived by his nephews, Jimmy Robertson, Thomas Robertson and Mike Ward, nieces, Mary Rita Turrietta, Deana Wood and Glenda Jean Meadows, cousins and friends.
Services were held on November 14, 2003 at El Pueblito United Methodist Church. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral

Arturo Peralta, 65, originally from Taos & a resident of Albuquerque died on December 21, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Inez Peralta of Albuquerque; three children, Mary Frances Donio and husband, Dominic Peralta and Victoria Peralta all of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Ciklalie, Mercedes and Tony Donio of Albuquerque; four brothers, Alfred Peralta and wife, Liz of Taos, NM, Louie Peralta and wife, Sandy of Alto, NM, Fred Peralta and wife, Dolores of Taos, NM, and Ignacio Peralta and wife, Rebecca of Taos, NM. Arturo is also survived by 24 nieces and nephews and 32 grand nieces and nephews. He was precede in death by his parents, Luis and María Peralta and one sister, Stephanie Padilla. Arturo was a parishioner at St. Joseph on the Río Grande Catholic Church. A rosary was recited on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph on the Río Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph St. NW with the Legion of Mary, reciting. Funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am also at the church with Father Frank Prieto, celebrant. Pallbearers will be Alfred and Aurelio Vigil, Mitchell Roland, Miguel, Jerome and Gregory Peralta. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Donio and James Winter. French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd. Harvey D. Large, passed away on December 22, 2003 in Red River, NM at the age of 74. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, 3 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his children, daughter Jayne Hopper, son Harvey “David” Large, daughter Becky Walts and husband, daughter Linda Loushine and husband, his longtime care giver Willie Hooper, two sisters, Esther Jane Tucker and Beth Hones, brother Dan Large, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was born in Denton, TX in 1929 and relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico as a teenager. He was employed for many years at Sandia Corporation. He moved to Red River, NM in 1969 where he and his wife, Marie, managed the Deer Lodge. His greatest joy was fishing and spending time with friends. He will be missed and loved forever by his family and friends. Cremation to take place. Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Harvey’s memory may be made to Denver Rescue Mission’s, Harvest Farm, 4240 E. County Rd. 66, Wellington, CO 80549. José Felix Gonzales, 81, of Arroyo Hondo passed away on December 22, 2003. He was a veteran of the US Army & Battles of Ardennes & Northern France. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Bences and Miguel Gonzales. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, María Beatrice Gonzales, children, Bernice Todd (Roger) of Seattle, WA, María Bush, (Jack) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Corine Espinoza (Harold) of Española, Felix Floyd Gonzales (Libby) of Taos, Peggy Blake (Rick) of Colorado Springs, CO, Geri Mills (Donald) of Arroyo Hondo, Herman Gonzales (Diana) of Arroyo Hondo and Neomi Allen (Tom) of Bosque Farms. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters, Veloniz Martínez (Manuel)of Arroyo Hondo Evila Withrow (Ray) and Tina Arellano of Pueblo, CO and many other relatives. Funeral service was held on December 26, 2003 at Mt. Zion Church. Interment was held on December 29, 2003 at Santa Fe National cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Theresa Nunez Chavez Barajas at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at St. Theresa Catholic church in Corona, NM with Father Dave Berg officiating. Mrs. Barajas passed away December 18, in Sacramento, CA after an extended illness. Mrs. Barajas was on in Corona, NM on February 10, 1926 to Pedro Nunez and Estefaita Alirez, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was a brother Henry Nunez, and three half brothers, Salamon Nunez, Elias Nunez and Joe Nunez all of the Albuquerque area. On June 4, 1945, she married Jose Fidel Chavez of Vaughn, they later divorced and he also preceded her in death. She is survived by her ten children, Corina Estefanita White of Roswell, NM, Zenida Celina Chavez of Northridge, CA, JoAnn Rita Arvizu of Sacramento, CA, Joe Jr. of Moreno Valley, CA, Mary Janet Dumont of Rosemond, CA, Aaron Blaise Chavez of Riverside, CA, Andrew Chavez of Albuquerque, Theresa Deborah Schibinger of Riverside, CA, Anthony Alonzo Barajas of Taos, NM, and Carmel Anna Lee Mays of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, 18 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brothers Abran Nunez of Roswell, NM, Pete Nunez of Kansas City, MO and her sister Dora Saiz of Albuquerque, NM. Theresa has been active in her church, civic, community and political affairs throughout her life in New Mexico and California where the Mayor of Los Angeles honored her for community service. She has recently been active in the Senior Citizens Center in Corona and Taos during the times she resided in those communities. The family requests that memorial contributions e made to St. Theresa Catholic Church in Corona, or to the Historical Center for Southeast New Mexico in Roswell. Mrs. Barajas will lie in state at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Corona from 1:30 PM until the time of the service on December 24, 2003. Soledad Eliza Graham, known as Sally to her family and friends, experienced a serene transition into the next world in the early morning hours of December 5, 2003 with her daughter Terry at her side. Born in Taos on November 12, 1939 to Don and Soledad Graham in Lower Ranchitos, she was preceded in death by her father, Don in 1970 and sister-in-law Delia in 2002. She is survived by her daughter Terry (husband Reza, and grandsons, Manny and Sammy), her mother, Soledad, brothers Toby, Robert, Leroy (Geneva), Dolores (Tino), and Ruben (Carla) and numerous nephews and nieces. She was cremated and the family asks that donations be made in her name to : The American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, Maryland, 20852.

Stanley George Anderson, 83, was born April 21, 1920 in Brooklyn New York. He was born and raised in New York. He attended Our Lady of Consolation Catholic School and Greenpoint High School. Also, St. Johns College in New York. He worked as a buyer for R.H. Macy & Co. on 34th Street in New York. He then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in Illinois and with his wife Agnes, moved to Taos. Agnes was having health problems and was advised by her doctors to go West, to a dry climate with no humidity. So, Stan and Agnes took a vacation trip to the West. They went to Arizona, Nevada, Texas and into New Mexico. They decided that New Mexico was the most beautiful state they had visited. They liked the variety of the desert, the forests, mesas, mountains and they love the weather in the Land of Enchantment. They had come up from Alamogordo, to Albuquerque, and into Santa Fe. Agnes remembered that as a girl she had come to Santa Fe with her parents and remembered a “Pueblo” so they asked about the Pueblo, they were told “you must mean Taos”. So Stan and Agnes came North to Taos. They fell in love with Taos! In September of 1983 they moved to Taos.
Stan was preceded in death by his mother and father, his 2 sisters, Lucy Tschersich and Marion Kulikowski. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Agnes Isabelle Anderson. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Emily LePanto (Michael) of New Jersey; niece, Emily I. Pollak (John); nephew, Robert LePanto (Donna); great niece, Gianna LePanto, great nephews, Anthony, Michael, Dominique and John Robert Pollak. Niece, Joan Tschersich (Al); nephew, Edward Tschersich (Mary Ann) and their son Christopher.
Stan was very active in the Holy Name Society at our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church in New York. He was President of the organization for many years. He was also a Grand Knight in The Knights of Columbus organization in New York.
He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter 1401, since his arrival in Taos. He was also a member of the Taos Opera Guild. He went to work for Wal-Mart in 1983. He was a very familiar face as he greeted everyone coming in the Wal-Mart door for twenty years.
Stan passed away at his home on December 22, 2003. Rosary service was held on December 26, 2003 at 7:00 pm, at San Francisco de Asís Church. The funeral mass was also held at San Francisco de Asís Church at 10:00 am on Saturday December 27, 2003 in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. Burial will follow at the Las Cruces cemetery. All Arrangements under the direction of Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Eloy G. Griego, 56, of Chimayó and formerly of Talpa/Taos passed away on May 4, 2002, following an unexpected illness. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dora “Honey” Griego and his grandmother who raised him, Teodroita “Tita” Romero. He is survived by his son, Frank E. Griego (Melissa) of Albuquerque and daughter, Marian A. Griego of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ernesto and Robert Perea, heather and Lauren Griego, former wife, Geraldine “Geri” Griego, sisters, Dolores Sisco (Robert) of Talpa, Priscilla Trujillo (Henry) of Taos and brother, Tito Trujillo (Jean) of Albuquerque, Aunt Tivie Espinoza of Talpa, Uncle Adolph Herrera (Nora) of San Diego, several other family members, multitudes of friends and god children. Eloy was employed for numerous years with Ideal Cement Plant of Albuquerque and was currently employed as a Safety Specialist with the City of Santa Fe. Eloy was a proud and active political organizer with the Democratic Party of which he will be sorrowfully missed. In addition, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Santa Fe. Visitation was held on May 6, 2002, at French Mortuary in Albuquerque and on May 7, 2002, at Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home. Rosary was held on May 7, 2002. Funeral Mass was held on May 8, 2002. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos, Interment was held at Talpa cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Jose Merehildo Muñoz, 90, of Valdez passed away on May 4, 2002. He is survived by his son, Tony Trujillo of Kansas, cousins, Gloria García (Floyd) of Ranchos de Taos, Joseph Apodaca (Trini) of Valdez, Melecio Apodaca (Rosina) of Arroyo Seco, Teresa Trujillo (Rick) of Taos and Eva Martínez of Colorado Springs. Rosary was recited on May 6, 2002. Funeral Service Mass was held on May 7, 2002. Both services were held at Valdez Catholic Church. Interment was held at Valdez cemetery. Kenelm Crawford Winslow LTC, USAFR (RT) 81, died April 30 of pancreatic cancer. Born in Albany, NY 24th Jan. 1921, he grew up in Baltimore, MD. He earned multiple degrees, attending Baltimore City College 1938, Bowling Green State University 1941, NYU 1942 & Michigan Tech 1948. During WWII he served in the Mighty Eighth as a meteorologist in England, France & Kwajalein. A man of immense curiosity he continued his education throughout life. Affiliations include Tau Beta Pi, Kappa Mu Epsilon, ROA, T-ROA, AIME/SME, NRA. He & his family moved to Taos in 1964, where he worked first for MolyCorp & then as an independent land surveyor & engineer. he is survived by Bette K. Winslow, wife of 54 years, children, Katherine Winslow Pond (Ashley_, Jeanette Hodgson (Dean, Kenelm K. Winslow (Jane), Elizabeth Winslow Fruits (Tim), and Prisca Winslow Bradley (Charlie), grandchildren, Ashley Evan Pond (Julie), Adrienne Pond, Giselle Poole (Leigth), Jessica Hodgson & Winslow Fruits, siblings, Armour C. Winslow, Anne Wright (Robert) and Louise Windisch (Charlie), nephews, nieces and their children. Funeral service was held on May 3, 2002, at First Presbyterian church. Military Burial was held at Santa Fe National cemetery. In lieu of flowers please give his name to cancer research, Mountain Home Health Care Hospice program or your favorite charity.
