Cecilia Maria Quintana, 85, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, was called home by our Heavenly Father, Saturday, July 30, 2005. A resident of Corrales, NM, formerly of Taos, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband John Quintana in November 2004. Cecilia is survived by her loving children, Ann Lucero and husband Richard of Alameda, NM, Orlando Quintana and wife Rose of Taos, NM, Rosemarie Padilla and husband Robert of Corrales, NM, John Quintana Jr. of Taos, NM, Joyce Quintana of Rio Rancho, NM, Celestina Quintana of Taos, David Quintana of Santa Teresa, NM and Petra Quintana and David Rael of Taos; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Arnold Montes; sister, Bertha Ochoa; numerous nieces, nephews; and other beloved family members and friends. Visitation was Tuesday. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales, NM; and Interment followed at Santa Fe National cemetery. Pallbearers were Montes Trujillo, Dominic Duran, Vincent Duran, Orlando Quintana Jr., Adrian Lucero, and Delano Lucero.

Nationally renowned Glass Artist, Kathleen Kayle, of Taos passed away on July 29, 2005. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Ripple in 1997. She is survived by her mother, Marguerite Ripple, daughter Alexandra McBride and her husband Thomas McBride and grandson Edward McBride. Service to be announced at a later date.

Sophia F. Chacon, 60, of Ranchos de Taos, passed away on July 28, 2005. She was preceded in death by parents, Jose Epiphanio and Maria E. Fernandez, sisters, Sofia Maestas Fernandez and Edna Fernandez, mother-in-law Amada Chacon and father-in-law, Epimeno Chacon.
She is survived by her husband David Chacon Sr., children, Michelle Chacon, David Chacon II (Tina), Marie Chacon (Bradley Flores) and Francisco Chacon, grandchildren, Christina and Valentino Mascarenas, Mikayla and Nickolas Chacon, sisters and brothers, Mote Fernandez, Nobie Fernandez (Rose), Rosalind Anglada (Adelmo), Manuel Fernandez (Mele), Alice Tapia (Diego), Mante Chacon (Gloria), Robert Chacon, Barbara Pacheco (Sonny), Phillip Valdez, father in law, Eduardo Valdez and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosary was recited on July 31, 2005. Funeral mass was held on August 01, 2005. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.

Anita Fernandez, 87, of Arroyo Seco passed away on July 28, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix Fernandez, son, Miguel Fernandez, daughter, Clarita Fernandez and infant son, Juan Fernandez. She is survived by her children, Juan Fernandez (Tonita), Benito Fernandez, Norbert Fernandez, Floyd Fernandez, Amelia Fernandez, Pat Lucero (Joe), Irene Gallegos (Tito), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on July 31, 2005. Funeral mass was held on August 01, 2005. Both services were held Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Edmundo F. Mondragon, 67, passed away July 27, 2005. Born in Taos, NM was a 1956 Taos High School graduate. Lived in Azusa, California & retired from the Forest Service. preceded in death by parents, Berry & Rose Mondragon, sister, Loyola Martinez, brother, Lawrence Mondragon. Survived by wife, Ida, daughter, Malissa Marchese (Todd), son, Michael Mondragon (Sonja), also four grandchildren, sisters, Lillian (Manuel) Mondragon, Susan (Luis) Garcia, Cassandra Mondragon, brother-in-law, Pat Martinez, sister-in-law, Berna Mondragon. Many relaitves & friends.
Services were held at St. Frances of Rome Church in Covina, CA. We love you and will miss you.

Daniel Garcia, 85, of El Prado passed away on July 27, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Helen Garcia, children, Daniel Garcia Jr., Melba Martinez (Bonifacio), Sylvia Herrera (Julio), Glenda Valdez (Juan) and Ted Garcia (Joy). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister, Eulogia Keck of Illinois, sister in law, Lesvia Rodriguez (Valentin), many nephews and nieces.
Rosary was recited on July 28, 2005. Funeral mass was held on July 29, 2005. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Juana Valenzuela, 39, of Taos passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2005. She is survived by her sons Andres and Osvaldo Valenzuela, brothers, Jose, Enrique and Jose Luis Valenzuela, sister, Blana Avila Valenzuela and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on July 28, 2005 Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on July 29, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Delferio Gonzales, 91, of Taos, where he resided for the last ten years, passed away on July 25, 2005. He was born on May 21, 1914 in Questa. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maclovio and Rafaelita Gonzales, wife Domitila Gonzales, brothers, Alfonso, Adolfo, Elfido Chris and Charles Gonzales. He is survived by his wife, Martha; sons, Ken Gonzales (Ramona), Edmund Gonzales, daughters, Karen Martinez (Emilio) and Susan Olguin (Louis), seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Horacio Gonzales and sister, Lily White, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services were held on July 26, 2005. Funeral service was held on July 27, 2005. Both services were held at Taos Assembly of God, 305 Burch St in Taos with Pastor Louis Madrid presiding. Burial was held at the Taos Assembly of God cemetery located on Paseo del Pueblo Norte.

Manuel R. Martinez, 83, of Des Montes passed away on July 24, 2005. He is preceded in death by his son, Rudy Martinez, parents, Juan Antonio & Lucinda Martinez, brothers and sisters, Juan Martinez, Epifanio Martinez Margarito Martinez, Emelina Cordova, Anita Manchego and Rose Quintana. He is survived by his wife, Eva Martinez, children, Manuel Martinez Jr., (Patricia), Romaine Miera (Andy), Virginia Romero (Ray), Herbert Martinez (Melissa) and Edward Martinez (Becky). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Delfina Quintana of Denver, Floyda Pineda of Rock Springs, WY, Bercilia Cortez (Nabor) of Gallup, Frank Martinez (Jenny) and Benito Martinez (Velma) all of Denver.
Rosaries were recited on July 26, 2005 at Rivera Chapel and on July 27, 2005 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at 10:30 at Holy Trinity Church with interment to follow at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Eleanor Wilson Fisher, a resident of Taos, was a devoted wife, mother, and figure skating coach. She was born in Toronto, Canada July 28, 1918 to Laura Gage and Thomas Wilson. Eleanor passed away July 20, 2005 at the Taos Living Center where she was a resident for over five years.
Eleanor, affectionately known as Ellie, was a former Canadian Junior Ladies Figure Skating Champion and placed third in the Senior Ladies Championship of Canada in 1940 qualifying for international competitions. World and Olympic events were cancelled, however, due to WWII. She began her forty-five year coaching career in Lake Placid, NY where she met her husband of 57 years. Mr. Fisher died in Taos in 1999. She coached many National level competitors, guiding young skaters who achieved 32 Gold Medal Tests, the highest proficiency award granted in the sport of figure skating.
Known for gracefully balancing the roles of skater, parent, and coach, Eleanor offered wisdom to her daughters who continued the family skating legacy. Victoria is a former member of the US World Figure Skating Team (Prague 1962) and Barbara is a former Mid Western Champion and currently the Director of the Skating Club of Taos at the Youth and Family Center.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister. She is survived by daughters, Victoria Binner of Telluride and Barbara Fisher of Taos; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; son in law, Chris Binner and Rick Mahrt, and one sister Ann Featherstonhaugh of Victoria, BC. She has many friends in Taos and former homes in Naples, FL and Edina, MN. Her family suggests donations in her memory to the Skaters' Fund, 238 Mountain View Road, Princeton NJ 08540, Donations are tax deductible benefiting coaches and performing skaters in need.
A private graveside service will be held in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada at a later date. On Friday, July 29, 2005 at 3:00 PM there will be a reception at the Taos Living Center.

Eduardo Cortez, 79, of Taos passed away on July 20, 2005. He is preceded in death by his sister, Cecilia Martinez. He is survived by his sisters, Bernie Cortez and Annabelle Marquez, numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited on July 23, 2005. Funeral mass was held on July 24, 2005. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at Dolores cemetery.
