Abran F. Lucero Jr., 42, of Taos Canyon passed away on December 25, 2005. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abran Lucero Sr. and Gloria Lucero and brother, Eddie Lucero. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Rose Lucero, sons, Francisco and Lorenzo Lucero, brothers, Arty Lucero and Gus Lucero, and many other relatives.
Service was held on December 27, 2005 at Good News Christian Fellowship Church. Funeral service was held on December 28, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Dolores cemetery in Canon.

Angelo Quintana, 39, of Taos passed away on December 23, 2005. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Cecilia Quintana. He is survived by his wife, Angie Yazzie Quintana, son, Christopher Quintana, stepchildren, Nicole and Eric Marcus, parents, Orlando Quintana and Prescilla Romero, sister, Renee Quintana and brother, O.D. Quintana.
He is also survived by grandparents, Henry & Viola Romero, numerous, aunts, uncles and other relatives. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Dr. Norman A. Levy died at home in Los Angeles on December 21 after a brief illness. He was 98 years old. He is preceded in death by his first wife Kay Levy. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, his sister Rhoda Loeser and brother Carl Leeds, his children Katherine Hall (Martin) of Los Angeles, MariAnna Lands (Nicholas Morrow) of Mora, NM and Jim Levy (Phaedra Greenwood) of Arroyo Hondo, NM, as well as by 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Dr. Levy was a prominent psychoanalyst who was a founding member of the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute. Norman and Kay spent five summers with their children in Taos from 1947 to 1953. He and Jeanne owned a home in Des Montes from 1971 to 1973. Norman's love of art and the outdoors was combined with his love of Northern New Mexico and Taos.

Tony Romero, 83, of Questa passed way on December 19, 2005. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sofia Maria Blea Romero, sons, Tony, Sam and Ricky Romero. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Romero, children, Connie Leon of Questa, Teresa Ortiz of Albuquerque, Juanita Espinoza (Robert), Joseph Richard Leon (Joanne), Ricky Matthew Leon (Rachel) all of Cerro, Martin Leon (Teresa) of Los Lunas, Clifford Romero (Lorna) of Florida, David Romero (Patty) of Denver, Annabell Rael (Joe) of Alamosa, CO, Ernest Romero (MaryAnne) of Albuquerque, George Romero of Alaska, 35 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Services were held at El Buen Pastor. Interment was held at El Pueblito cemetery.

Jaclynn Kari Padilla, 13, of Black Lake passed away on Dec. 17, 2005 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Clarence and Trinidad Mondragon, uncles, Ernest Padilla and Ernest Mondragon, great grandparents, Eufemia Gallegos and Mardequeo Tafoya. She is survived by her parents, Dan and Elsie Padilla, brother, Nathaniel D. Padilla, grandparents Marvin and Emily Padilla of Des Montes, great grandmother, Cecilia Tafoya. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral service was held on December 21, 2005 at Rivera Chapel. Interment was held in Black Lake. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Fabian J. Archuleta, 66, of Questa passed away on December 16, 2005. He retired from Moly Corp Mine in 2002 after 34 years of service. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Archuleta, parents, Andres and Delfina Archuleta. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Archuleta, children, Rita Cordova, Glenda Al-Nachef, Edith Ibarra, Yvette Louis, Jonathan, Vinnie and Tacho Archuleta. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Gilbert Archuleta, Flora Ortega, Josie Rivera, Tony Archuleta, Evelyn Archuleta, Steve Archuleta and Carla Glines.
Memorial service was held on December 19, 2005 at Rivera Chapel.

Naomi Ruth Gusdorf, 62, of Ranchos de Taos passed away peacefully on December 15, 2005 surrounded by her family. Her love of skiing brought her to Taos where she met the love of her life, Ted. For the last eleven years she made her home in Taos. She is preceded in death by her father, John E. Davis. She is survived by her husband, Ted Gusdorf, children, Genger Holt of Corpus Christi, TX, Devin Holt (Tina) of Dallas, TX, mother, Vivian Davis, brother, Thomas E. Davis (Jeanette) all of Dallas, TX, stepchildren, Matthew Gusdorf (Valerie) and Bryan Gusdorf (Jennifer). She is also survived by grandchildren Jason, Josh, Danielle, Jessica, Harrison, Alexander, Kyle, Kevin, Luke and Eric and great grandson, Landon.
Rosary was recited on December 18, 2005. Funeral mass was held on December 19, 2005. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos. Interment will be held at a later date at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Naomi can be made to A.L.S. Abigail Hunter Allen, was born in Trinidad, Co on Aug. 15, 1929, and died in Colorado Springs, CO, on Dec. 14, 2005. She was the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Espey Hunter. Gail graduated from Trinidad High School, attended Mills College and graduated from the University of Colorado where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. In 1952 she married Robert Allen of Raton, NM and they had three children, Susan, Bill and John. In 1963 Gail was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She lived valiantly with it for the rest of her life and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her because of her positive attitude. Gail greatly loved her family and may friends and was loved by then in return.
She lived life with joy and optimism and showed everyone how to enjoy the experience of life both big and small and how to live life with a grateful heart every day.
She grew up in Trinidad, CO, where she had a wonderful childhood with loving, fun parents and friends, raised her children in Raton where she started Coffee Club that is still ongoing after 53 years and then moved to Taos, New Mexico, where she had a great time with friends in the special atmosphere of that special atmosphere of that special place. For the last 3 1/2 years of her life she lived in Colorado Springs, CO. Her family is especially greatful for the loving care that Gail’s caretakers gave to her through the years enabling her to live life to the fullest. She was a member of PEO, Chapter N, Raton, NM. Gail was preceded in death by her son, John and is survived by her daughter, Susan Kosar and her husband, Bill, son, William Allen, grandchildren, Elizabeth, Robert, Kyle, and Hunter and many dear friends. Alfonso Rael, 87, of Questa, passed away on December 14, 2005. He was retired from Asarco Copper Mine in Silver Bell, AZ. He was a Peregrino and member of St. Anthony's Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Antonio and Stella Rael, brothers, Jacobo, Rudolfo and Fred Rael and brother-in-law Louis Ortiz. He is survived by his wife, Cora Rael, children, Anthony Rael (Margarita) of Tucson, AZ, Patsy Wallace (Lynn) of Belen, Dianna Rael Trujillo (Stephen) of Taos, Selimo Rael (Kathy) of Santa Fe, sisters, Eva Gallegos (Chris) of Questa, Eufelia Ortiz and her late husband Louis, brothers, Ben Rael (Evangeline) of Taos, Gustavo Rael (Aurora) of Questa, Jose Redolio Rael of Questa and 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A Wake service by Deacon Felimon Rael and a rosary by the Peregrinos was held on December 16, 2005 at St. Anthony's Church in Questa. Funeral mass was held on December 17, 2005 at St. Anthony's Church. Interment followed at the San Pedro cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Anthony's Parish in Questa. Juanita Martinez-LaFont, 65, passed away to be with the Lord, Dec. 14, 2005, in Alb. She is preceded in death by Cidelia Vigil-Martinez, son, James LaFont, brother, Aaron and Jerry Martinez. She is survived by husband, James Lafont, son, Mark, daughter Carla. Father, Carlos Martinez (Frances), brothers, Ted (Lucy) from Alb., Eugino (Patricia) from Santiago Chile, Amos (Frances) from Cerro, Virgil (Gloria) from Cerro, David (Lovida) Cisneros, from Cerro, Sister, Alice, and Aubriey Sizemore, CA. numerous nephews, neices, uncles & aunts. Graduated from Menaul High School in 1959, taught school for 35 years, Cerro, Questa, Gallup, NM and San Diego, CA. Burial has taken place in Belen, NM. Remains will be brought back to Cerro, NM this summer to be buried with her mother.

Ercilia Lopez, 67, a resident of Pojoaque passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2006 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Natividad Lopez, son, Ruben Cordova; grandson, Cesar Cordova, aunt and uncle who raised her, Jose and Sofia Lopez and brother, Benito Lopez. Ercilia loved to sew, cook, laugh and dance. She enjoyed holidays with her family. She had a lot of lifelong friends and had a dicho for everything. Ercilia is survived by her children, Herman Cordova (Eleanor) Orlando Cordova (Diane) all of Rodarte, Lucille and companion Benny of Cordova and Rita Tafoya (Wilfred) of Ojito, longtime friend and companion, Ted Herrera of Pojoaque, father of her children, Trinidad Cordova, Jr., brothers and sisters, Alfonso, Porfirio, Theresa and Rosalba, grandchildren, Gabriel, Augustine, Cynthia, Emily, Dominic and Analisa, great-grandchild, Cesar jr. and numerous other relatives and friends. Visitation was on Jan. 30, 2006 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Rosary was held on Jan. 31, 2006 at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Penasco. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Feb. 1, 2006 at 10 a.m. also at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Penasco. Burial followed at Las Trampas Catholic cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Herman and Orlando Cordova, Ted Herrera, Gabriel Roybal, Augustine and Trinidad Cordova. Cipriano Edward Mondragon, 101, of Cordillera passed away on January 29, 2006. He is preceded in death by his wife, Soledad Mondragon and son, Edward Martin Mondragon. He is survived by his daughter, Sofia Dickerson of Virginia, grandchildren, Linda L. Hodges, Suezette Steinhardt, Lonny Dickerson, Martin A. and Anthony Mondragon, many nephews, nieces and other relatives from the Taos area.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 02, 2006 at 7 PM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 03, 2006 at 1:30 PM at San Francisco de Asis Church with interment to follow at Los Cordovas cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Matthew Jay Harrower, 45, of Taos, NM passed away on January 27, 2006. He was a Taos resident since 1987. He graduated Ithaca High School in 1978 and won numerous awards for high school wrestling. He was an artist and his folk art was sold at numerous galleries in Taos. He is survived by his mother, Sharon Travis of Ithaca, NY, father, William G. Harrower (Jeanne) of Cortland, NY, brother, Lafe Harrower (Jessica) of Taos, NM, sister, Kristi Luhar of Calabasas, CA (Ron Levi), stepsisters, Wendy Dalton and Tami Aguilar, nephews and nieces, Corrina Harrower, Jens Krosby, Shareena and Trisha Luhar, Samantha and Samson Levi, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 03, 2006 at 5 PM at San Geronimo Lodge in Taos.

Domitilia G. Quintana, 91, of Questa, passed away on January 27, 2006. She is preceded in death by her first husband Bernabe Bailon, her 2nd husband, Felix Quintana, stepchildren Mary Mascarenas (Albert), Effren Barros (Fred) and step sons-in-law John Schlagal and Eli Rael. She is survived by her children Joe Bailon (Nancy Padilla), Albuquerque, NM, Carlos Hererra (Gloria), Questa, step children, Maria (Pina) Schlagal, Jennie Martinez, Adela Rael, Saloman Quintana (Cathy), Felix Quintana (Elsie), Daniel Quintana (Evelyn), Theresa Smith (Arnold), Irene Ortega (Pat) and Corina Aquirre (Steve) and 61 grandchildren, 122 great grandchildren, 66 great great grandchildren, 5 great great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation was held on January 29, 2006 at the Rivera Chapel. Rosary was recited on January 29, 2006 at St. Anthony's in Questa. Funeral mass was held on January 30, 2006 at St. Anthony's. Interment followed in San Pedro cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

James G. Simpson, was born in Las Vegas, NV on May 21, 1965. He was raised in Pahrump, NV he also resided in Cerro, NM he died in Las Vegas, NV on Jan. 26, 2006. He has left behind numerous family members and friends that loved him. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Rena Simpson ahd his four children, jennifer Simpson (16), Jeremy Simpson (15), Krystle Simpson (14), and James Simpson jr. (12). Parents, Beth and Charles Vellon and Gardner Simpson. Three sibling’s Liz and Abe Selph, Evelyn Wolfe, Daniel Simpson. Also survived by nieces’ Tasha (Leonard) Treis, Eve, Wolfe, Shawniece Selph, Bethanie Ishmeal, Faith (Annie) Selph and two nephews. Plus one great-niece Chasadie Wolfe. And two very close cousins, Joe Lynn and Yvonne Smith. Aunts and many cousins. He is preceded in death by grandparents Lynn and Evelyn Ishmael and aunts’ Mary Stevens and Margie Burton. Services will be held at a later date.

Carlos Martinez, 94, of Cerro, NM passed away on Jan. 25, 2006. Went to heaven to be with our Lord. He is survived by his wife Frances Mares Martinez, children, Ted Martinez (Lucy), Amos (Frances), Eugenio (Patricia), Virgil (Gloria), Alice (Abrey) Sizemore, son-in-law, James LaFonta, David Cisneros (Loveyda) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brothers Delfino Martinez (Loretta), sister, Loyda Moy, Levi Martinez, Evaristo, step daughter Cecelia Trujillo, stepsons, Pedro (Bernadette, Teodoro Trujillo, many nephews and nieces. preceded in death by wife, Cedelia Martinez, daughters, Juanita LaFonta, sons, Aaron, Jerry Martinez and grandson, Jimmy LaFonta, parents, Dulcenia Arellano, father, Delfino Martinez, brother Arsenio Martinez, sisters, Idela Galvez and Rufina Cisneros. The family wants to thank Fr. Tino Candeleria and Deacon Marcus Rael, for the beautiful mass, many people that helped with the service also all the people that honored him by accompanying him to his service. Thank you again. Jayne E. Belanger, 53, of Sunshine Valley passed away on January 24, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Smith of Sunshine Valley, mother, Betty Simon, brother, Steven Kelsey, sister, Linda Kelsey, grandmother, Phyllis Learned and grandson, James H.B. Smith.
Funeral mass was held on January 27, 2006 at Cerro Catholic Church, interment followed at Sunshine Valley cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Anita Maria Pacheco, 22, of Costilla passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2006. She was a 2001 graduate of Questa High School. She worked at Taos Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. She was very friendly and loved people. She is survived by her parents, Ramon and Linda Pacheco, brothers and sisters, Mariquita Pacheco, Antonio Pacheco (Darlene), Teresa Maldonado (Joe Ben), Ramon, Monica, Lorenzo, Christina and Ernesto Pacheco all of Costilla. She is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was held on January 30, 2006 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on January 31, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Nazario C. Suazo, 83, from Taos passed away on April 6, 2006. He retired from Moly Corps in 1986. Recently he worked at First State Bank in the Taos Plaza. He is preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Suazo, his sisters, Angela Montoya and Connie Round-tree and granddaughter, Erica Suazo. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Emma Suazo, his children, Annabell Suazo, Rosella Pineda, Patricia Lavato (Dennis), Jake Suazo (Lorraine), Josie Vargas (Gilbert), Rosemarie Suazo, Audrey Suazo Trujillo, and Arturo Suazo (Tula), stepchildren, John E. Córdova (Esther), Dennis Córdova (Josephina), Cecilia Córdova (John), Edwin Córdova (Geraldine), Joel Córdova (Vicki), Diana Córdova (Les), Yolanda Younger (Chris), his brother, Augustine Suazo (Thelma) and numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on April 9, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral mass was held on April 10, 2006 at our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment followed at Dolores cemetery.
