Marjorie D. HopperMarjorie D. Hopper passed away on January 12, 2007, at the age of 89 and a half, of complications from an infection. She was with family and slipped away peacefully. Born in Ford County, Kansas on July 12, 1917 to William Lonnie Davis and Nellie Bly McInteer, she had one sister, Doris Lee Hanratty (Jim) and spent her early years in Dodge City, Kansas. She also had extensive family in Kentucky. On August 21, 1935 she married her high school sweetheart, Jay Millard Hopper, they were married 47 years when Jay passed away of cancer August 7, 1982. They had two beloved children, Dennis Lee Hopper and David Jay Hopper and lived in Dodge City, Kansas until relocating to San Diego, California in the 1940's. They also spent winters at the Fountain of Youth Spa in the Palm Springs area where Marjorie eventually met and married her second husband Tom Stockman. Marjorie and Tom were “Snowbirds, ” summering in Yachats, Oregon until his death December 22, 1987. Marjorie most recently resided at Belmont Village in Hollywood, California, where the staff loved and cared for her in her last few years. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Jay Millard Hopper, sister Doris Lee Hanratty (Jim) and by her second husband Tom Stockman. She is survived by her children, Dennis Lee Hopper (Victoria Duffy) and David Jay Hopper, grandchildren Marin (John), Tiffany, Rebecca, Ruthanna, Henry and Galen, and great-grandchildren Violet and Trinity. She is also survived by nephew Duane Hopper, his children Dawn Romero (Steve) and son Joaquin Estevan, Daphne Attanirano (Antonio) and children Antonio David Jr. and Shante Amelia, and Dylan Hopper, all of Taos, niece Donna Tibbits (Robert) and her children Tammy, Jeff and Don, and niece Deborah Hopper and her children Tim Younkman (Laura) and children Owen Ray and Eva Grace, and Tom Younkman. She enjoyed the little ones most of all towards the end. She was lively and charming and her spark will truly be missed. Services were held at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, California, Saturday, January 27th.

Dulcinea Salas, 76, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on January 15, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Otoniel Salas, sons, Toby, James, Johnny, Ricky and David Salas and grandson, Margarito Montoya. She is survived by her daughters, Veronica Sisneros (Floyd) of Denver, Marina Mays of Avon, CO and Marie Salas of Ranchos de Taos; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grand-daughter, brothers, Levi, Mike, and Felimón Salazar, five half brothers and one half sister. Rosary was recited on January 19, 2007. Funeral mass was held on January 20, 2007. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Frances M. Martínez, 91, of Taos passed away on January 21, 2007. She was a 2001 Taos Living Treasure. She was on the Planning, Zoning & Historical Committees for the Town of Taos and a financial consultant for the La Loma Plaza Park. She was administrator and supervisor of food services at Taos Municipal Schools. She was active in the VFW Lady's Auxiliary & Retired Teachers, volunteered at Taos Senior Citizens Center and was a paralegal aide for the State of New Mexico. Her hobbies were painting and being a good neighbor. She is preceded in death by her sons, Ernesto “Ernie” Trujillo and Frank “Frankie” Trujillo, grandson, Eric S. Trujillo, husbands, José Teodoro “Pope” Trujillo, Laureano “Larry” Mares and Carlos Martínez. She is survived by her children, Pete “Pedro” Trujillo (Bernadette) of Taos, Ted Trujillo of Albuquerque and Cecilia Trujillo of Taos, grandchildren, Janice Cowley, Pete Trujillo III, Frankie Trujillo Jr. and Teresa Lane, and numerous great grandchildren. Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Ivy Chávez, 81, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on January 20, 2007. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Gail Robinson. She is survived by her children, Sandra Jones of Taos, Dennis Wood of Ranchos de Taos and Michele Chávez of Las Vegas, NV, sister in the United Kingdom, grandchildren, Cade and Dax Robinson. Private family services have been held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stray Hearts Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 622, Taos, NM 87571. Irma Robinson, 79, of Española and formerly of Questa passed away on January 17, 2007. She was a Magistrate Judge in Questa during the 60's. Irma was active in Democratic Party politics in northern New Mexico and owned and operated restaurants and beauty salons in Questa, Santa Fe and Española. She was appointed by Governor Bruce King to the Board of Cosmetology. She is preceded in death by her husband, W.S. “Robbie” Robinson and son, Wayne Robinson. She is survived by her children, Ronald J. Robinson (Ann) of Española, Gordon C. Robinson (Roberta) of Questa, Lester Cisneros (Mary), and Conchita Cisneros all of Santa Fe. She is also survived by grandchildren, Enrika Sanchez, Diego and Phillip Robinson, Racquel Barnes (Travis), Nicole Gonzales (William), Michelle Robinson, Lester Ray and Michelle Cisneros, John Anthony and John Paul Blea, Erik Robinson, eight great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Rubén Cisneros (Crucita) of Questa, Larry Cisneros of Albuquerque, Viola Spalding (Bob) of Upland, CA, Aurora Gonzales (Arcenio) of Las Vegas, many other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on January 19, 2007. Funeral mass was held on January 20, 2007. Both services were held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Questa. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Jimmie King, 63, of Red River passed away on January 20, 2007. He was raised in Ft. Worth, Texas. He married Danetta Blankenship in 1964 in Ft. Worth. Jimmie and his wife, Danetta opened Bandana Properties, the first property management company in Red River in 1980. He was proud to be a working cowboy until his health declined. He won the World Championship of Drag Racing at the 1962 NHRA Winter Nationals in Scottsdale, AZ and was inducted into the Hot Rod Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Danetta King, son, Keith King of Albuquerque, parents, James and Mattie King and sister, Carolyn Carpenter (Clayton) of Clyde, TX, mother in law, Billie Martin of Ft. Worth, TX, niece, Christi Carpenter of Abilene, TX and many extended family members and friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at high noon at the Red River Community House with interment to follow at the Red River cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Minnie Rivera, 92, formerly of Taos, died peacefully in her sleep on January 21, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. Minnie is preceded in death by her husband Martín Rivera. She is survived by her daughter Vera Tibbs and grandchildren: James Tibbs, Anita Tibbs and Norma Chaddick and great grandchildren: Kristian Chaddick, Json Chaddick; Alexander Tibbs, Aaron Tibbs; Noah Bell, Zachary Bell and Bethany Bell. She is also survived by various nieces and nephews. Minnie will be missed by everyone who knew her. Minnie lived in Taos for many years before moving to Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held in Las Vegas, NV for friends and family living in the LV area. A Funeral mass will be held in Taos at a later date. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Agapita Jeantete, 80, of Taos passed away on January 09, 2007. She is preceded in death by her infant son, Arnold, granddaughter, Susan Romero, parents, Luís & Petrita Fernández, brothers and sisters, Luís Fernández (Julia), Gus Fernández, Marina Córdova (Joe) and Alice García. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gabriel Jeantete, children, Richard Jeantete (Doris), Gabriel Jeantete Jr., Arnold Jeantete (Angie), Christine Romero (Richard), Henry Jeantete (Imelda), Chuck Jeantete (Doris), Bernadette Archuleta (Rick), John Jeantete (Karen). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters, Fabbie Lucero, Irene Trujillo, Margaret Fernández and Cecelia Martínez (Claudie), sister in law, Teddie Fernandez, many other relatives and friends. Rosary was recited on January 11, 2007. Funeral mass was held on January 12, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Las Cruces cemetery. Agnes “Pete” McFarland, 91, of Lancaster, OH passed away Friday evening December 29, 2006 at the Rockmill Rehabilitation Centre, Lancaster, OH. She was born on September 21, 1915 in Canal Winchester, OH to the late William H. & Bertha A. (Cooper) Morehart. Pete graduated from Carroll High School in 1933. She retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Corp, Lancaster. She was a member of the Cedar Hill Calvary United Church, Amanda, OH. Agnes is survived by her sons: Robert (Florence) McFarland IV of Ashville, OH, Ted (Paula) McFarland of Lancaster, OH, Wyatt (Barbara) McFarland of Lancaster, OH; grandsons: Robert R. McFarland V and Harold E. (Jill) McFarland both of Ashville. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell “Russ” McFarland III and her parents, 3 brothers & 3 sisters. There will be no funeral services or visitation. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in Sierra Vista cemetery, Taos, New Mexico. Benito Córdova Quintana, 25, of Taos passed away on January 9, 2007. Benito gave the gift of life by being an organ donor. He was a 2000 graduate of Taos High School. He attended UNM at both the Taos and Albuquerque campuses. He also attended New Mexico State University and the University of Southern Colorado. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Taos Optimist Club. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben & Beatrice Córdova and Ernesto Márquez. He is survived by his mother, Katie Córdova of Taos, father, Victor A. Quintana of Costilla, brother, Billy C. Quintana of Taos, grandmother, Celsa Quintana of Costilla, aunts and uncles, Irma Wagner (George), Rita Martínez (Ray), Henry Córdova (Nila), John “Saís” Córdova (Bertha), Iris Márquez, Angie Ramírez (Abe) and Sharon Ruybal (Felix), many other relatives and friends. Rosaries was recited on January 14, 2007 at Rivera Chapel and on January 15, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Funeral mass was held on January 16, at Sacred Heart Church. John Muñoz, 41, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on January 08, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Muñoz, daughters, Leeandra and Amanda Muñoz, mother, Shirley Mae Gutiérrez of Hawaii, sisters, Gina Gurule of Taos, Vina Gutiérrez of San Diego, CA, Nidia Gutiérrez of Hawaii, grandmother, Mary Muñoz of Aguilar, CO and uncles, John Gonzales and Michael Raught. He is also survived by parents in law, Blas & Magdalena Romero, brother in law, Ben Romero, nephews and nieces, Jasmine and Javier Gurulé, Mia Gutiérrez, James and Ben Romero Jr., many other relatives and friends. Lois Ann Long (Ranchos de Taos) went before us on Saturday January 6th. She is survived by her loving husband and friend of 59 years, Robert Allen Long. She is also survived by her daughter Karin Long of Milwaukee, WI; son Orv (Robert) Long, daughter-in-law Diana Bamerick of Ranchos de Taos and granddaughter Talia Bamerick of Durango, CO; son Dr. Preston Long, daughter-in-law Eileen Long and grandchildren Caitlin and Preston Alexander of Tempe, AZ. Lois was raised, educated and married in Rochester, IN. She raised her children in Marinette, WI before moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1973. She owned and operated a small retail clothing business in Phoenix before retiring and moving to the Taos area in 1999. Frances Espinoza, 55, of Los Córdovas passed away on January 14, 2007. She is preceded in death by her twin sons, Peter & Paul Espinoza, father, Albert Padilla, sisters and brothers, Mary Alice Padilla, Stella Ridaman, Dorothy, Ladencio and Henry Padilla. She is survived by her husband, Billy Espinoza, children, William Espinoza (Beverly), Margaret Espinoza (Eltin), Lorenzo Espinoza, six grandchildren, nephews she raised, Leroy Padilla (Sharon) and Michael Padilla (Trish), brother, Alex Padilla and sister, Mary Ann Padilla, other relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on January 19, 2007, at 7 PM at San Francisco de Asís Church. Funeral mass will be held on January 20, 2007, at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asís Church. Lucy Victoria Chacón, 42, of Ro darte passed away January 2, 2007. She is preceded in death by her fa ther, Joe H. Chacón, grandparents, Florencio & Clorinda Chacón, Elipifanio & Frances Chacon. She is survived by her mother, Eliria Chacón, sisters and brothers, Florence Cornejo (Lupe) of Denver, CO, Judy Sanchez (Larry) of Tucson, AZ, Eloisa Torrez of Denver, CO, Phillip Chacón (Ida) of Nevada, Carmen Sanchez of Tucson, AZ, Mary Mascareñas (Anthony) of Albuquerque, LouAnn Arellano (Arnold) of Dixon, Barbara Cha con of Leadville, CO, Jerry Chacón (Geraldine) of Llano de San Juan and Joe Chacon of Llano de San Juan. She is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. Prayer service was held on January 4, 2007. Funeral service was held on January 05, 2007. Ana Goler 1942-2007, Ana Maria Marcomini de Goler died peacefully on January 6, 2007 in Santa Fe, NM. Ana is preceded in death by her husband Gustavo Victor Emilio Goler and by her brother Roberto Marcomini. Ana, Gustavo and their children moved from Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1970. Gustavo passed away a year later. Ana raised her fam ily as a single mother working as an independent jeweler for many years and later working downtown in Santa Fe at La Mariquita, Mimosa, The Pendle ton Shop and at Eagle Dancer. She traveled extensively throughout Argentina, Mexico, Spain and Italy. She is survived by her daughter Maria de la Paz Baca and husband Lawrence Baca and grandchildren: Chris Sauter, Ellen and Emily Baca; her son Gustavo Victor Goler and wife Whitney and grand daughters Margot and Grace Goler. Ana was a loyal wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She worked very hard all her life and dedicated herself entirely to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral Service scheduled Monday, Jan. 15, 11:00 a.m. at Santa Maria De La Paz, Catholic Community in Santa Fe, NM.

Guillermo “Billy” Maestas, 43, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on January 2, 2007. He is preceded in death by his brother, José “Joey” Maestas Jr. He is survived by his parents, José Elias and Faby Maestas, sons, Anthony, Guillermo and Elías Maestas, sister, Bernadette Solivan, uncle and aunt, Ed and Pam Quintana, cousins, Nicole and Lucilla Quintana, Alyssa Jaramillo. Emelina Tafoya, 73, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on January 3, 2007. In her youth, she at tended St. Francis Catholic school and graduated from Taos High School in 1953. She worked at the Kit Carson Drive-In Theatre for 7 years. She then worked for JC Penny, where she retired after 24 years of service to the company. She worked for WalMart for 10 years after her retirement and was a care pro vider for her niece. She is a life time member of San Francisco de Asís Catholic Church and was also a member of the Guadalupanas. Emelina dedicated her life to her children and family. Emelina was raised by her grandmother, Francisquita Cortez. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luís & Asención Tafoya, infant sister, Elena Tafoya, sister, Cordelia Trujillo and brother, Victor Lucío Tafoya. She is survived by her children, Samuel R. Bailón and wife María Elena of Ranchos de Taos, Rebecca L. Cordova and husband William of Río Rancho and Robert D. Bailón of Rio Rancho. She is also survived by grandchildren, Matthew, William Paul and Ashley Cordova, KimbreeKaye, Taelyr D., Chris topher J. and Mark Ryan Bailon, brothers and sister, Florentino Tafoya and wife Emilia of Albu querque, Nellie Elena and Tomas Pacheco of Cheyenne, WY, Ismael “Mouse” Tafoya of Llano Quemado, and Jose Luís Tafoya of Albuquerque. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews with special men tioning of her nieces Barbara Trujillo-Mendez and husband Antonio and Mercedes “Mercy” Trujillo. Michael “Mike” Smith Watkins of Taos passed away on January 04, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Mike was born in Queens, New York on December 12, 1965. He was educated primar ily in San Diego and served in the US Army prior to embarking on a career as a long haul truck driver. He owned Watkins West Trucking and drove coast to coast until side lined by diabe tes. He won numerous safety awards over his career and was Excel Transportation “Driver of the Year” in 1998. Mike is survived by his wife, Angela Holcomb Watkins of Lower Las Colonias, his parents, Captain, USN Ret. Richard and Deborah Wat kins of Lower Las Colonias, his brother, Commander John Wat kins, USN of San Diego and four nephews and a niece. Funeral mass was held on January 8, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and celebrated by Father Larry Brito with inter ment at Las Cruces cemetery. He was a gentle giant, who brought joy to all who knew him and endured his health issues without complaint. Walter Anton Aigner born in Ried im Innkreiss, Aus tria on April 18, 1935 died in his home shortly after Christmas 2006. Father to Kresanna, 35, and Marcus, 33, residing in Scotland, grandpapa to Jacob and Taylor and brother to Josef Aigner. After completing a course in Hotel Management, Walter moved to Bermuda when he was 21, where he worked as a waiter and also entertained guests playing the piano. Following his nose for a good ski slope he moved to Stowe, Vermont, there he turned his hand to construction. In 1970 he met Maggie and married and had Kresanna and Marcus. Walter left the construction business due to a back injury. After his divorce from Maggie, and as full time provider of the children he turned his eye to an tique dealing and a variety of creative business ventures. Kresanna and Marcus moved to Scotland in their teens to spend time with their mother, this was an opportunity for Walter to move on and with a love for the arts and skiing settle in Taos, NM with his beloved dogs. He then had time to fur ther explore his creative tal ents. His neighbors nicknamed him “10X12” or fondly “Pitbull” because of the unusual house he built and his determined personality. Walter Aigner an incredibly independent mans who never gave up on his quest for adventure, new discoveries and the desire to develop and turn his hand to many skills and crafts. We know he found contentment in Taos and was very much at home here. He has left behind a family that will always have constant love, admiration and respect for all that he was and achieved in his life. After a lifetime of travels we hope he finds peace in his final place of rest. The family would also like to thank friends and neighbors for the support and love they have shown him. Upon Walter's request there will be no formal memorial service and his body was cremated. However, his children would like to extend an invitation to friends and neighbors to join us for an informal ski, meet at the St. Bernard's by the fire place on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at noon and followed by an evening drink at the Taos Inn between 68 PM in celebration of his life.
