Daniel Garcia
July 27, 2005
Daniel Garcia, 85, of El Prado passed away on July 27, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Helen Garcia, children, Daniel Garcia Jr., Melba Martinez (Bonifacio), Sylvia Herrera (Julio), Glenda Valdez (Juan) and Ted Garcia (Joy). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister, Eulogia Keck of Illinois, sister in law, Lesvia Rodriguez (Valentin), many nephews and nieces.
Rosary was recited on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Our Lady of the Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos. Funeral mass was held on Friday, July 29, 2005 at Our Lady of the Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment to follow at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Anita Fernandez
Anita Fernandez, 87, of Arroyo Seco passed away on July 28, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix Fernandez, son, Miguel Fernandez, daughter, Clarita Fernandez and infant son, Juan Fernandez. She is survived by her children, Juan Fernandez (Tonita), Benito Fernandez, Norbert Fernandez, Floyd Fernandez, Amelia Fernandez, Pat Lucero (Joe), Irene Gallegos (Tito), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on July 31, 2005. Funeral mass was held on August 01, 2005. Both services were held Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Sophia Chacon
July 28, 2005
Sophia F. Chacon, 60, of Ranchos de Taos, passed away on July 28, 2005. She was preceded in death by parents, Jose Epiphanio and Maria E. Fernandez, sisters, Sofia Maestas Fernandez and Edna Fernandez, mother-in-law Amada Chacon and father-in-law, Epimeno Chacon. She is survived by her husband David Chacon Sr., children, Michelle Chacon, David Chacon II (Tina), Marie Chacon (Bradley Flores) and Francisco Chacon, grandchildren, Christina and Valentino Mascarenas, Mikayla and Nickolas Chacon, sisters and brothers, Mote Fernandez, Nobie Fernandez (Rose), Rosalind Anglada (Adelmo), Manuel Fernandez (Mele), Alice Tapia (Diego), Mante Chacon (Gloria), Robert Chacon, Barbara Pacheco (Sonny), Phillip Valdez, father in law, Eduardo Valdez and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rosary was recited on Sunday July 31, 2005 at San Francisco de Asis in Ranchos de Taos. Funeral mass was held on Monday August 1, 2005 at San Francisco de Asis in Ranchos de Taos. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Juan Chavez
July 30, 2005
Juan de Los Reyes Chavez, 98, of Cerro passed away on July 30, 2005. He is preceded in death by his parents, Desidero and Gregorita Chavez, sisters and brother, Maclovia Mares, Teresita DeHerrera, Tomasita Vigil, Flavio Chavez and grandson, Melvin Chavez. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Delfinia Chavez, children, Ernesto Chavez (Dulcinia) of Bosque, Gloria Visarraga (Paul), Joe D. Chavez (Socorro), Rebecca Chavez, Francisco Chavez (Manuela) all of Santa Fe, Eligio Chavez of Cerro, Ruben Chavez (Donna) of San Idelfonso, niece and nephew he raised, Claudio Martinez of Salida, CO and Leonila Garcia of Center, CO. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren
Rosary was recited on Tuesday, August 02, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cerro. Funeral mass was held on Wednesday, August 03, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at Cerro cemetery.

Nelson Abeyta
July 31, 2005
Nelson Abeyta, 71, of Llano Quemado passed away July 31, 2005. He is preceded in death by his wife, Arcelia Abeyta, parents, Pablo and Emma Abeyta. He is survived by his children, Debbie Gutierrez (Gilbert), Frieda Archuleta (Fred), Nelson Abeyta Jr. (Michelle) and Charlene Vigil (Ryan). He is also survived by grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer Archuleta, Amanda Gutierrez, Nichole and Tanya Abeyta, great grandsons, Adam, Ryan Jr. and Jesse Vigil and Jeremy Mondragon, brothers and sisters, Ben, Phillip and Elsie Abeyta, Teresa Brown (Eugene), Lorraine Martinez (Tony), Pauline Martinez, many nieces and nephews.
Evening service was held on Tuesday, August 02, 2005 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, August 03, 2005 at Ranchos Presbyterian Church.

David Santistevan
August 1, 2005
David E. Santistevan, 66, of Taos passed away on August 01, 2005. He was a loyal and longtime employee of the Moly Corp. Mine and retired after 33 years of service. He is preceded in death by his mother, Della Santistevan and wife, Susan Santistevan. He is survived by his children, Mark David Santistevan (Margarita) and Matthew Santistevan (Becky) all of California, Marty Santistevan (Joelyn) of Ranchos de Taos, Marietta Fambro (Jim) and Joseph Santistevan (Josefina Baca) all of Taos and David Antonio Santistevan (Sophia Romero) of Albuquerque. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, brothers and sister, Cilfred Santistevan (Joann), Joe Santistevan (Donna) and Michelle McGinnis, numerous close relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on August 04, 2005 at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on August 05, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at Las Cruces cemetery.

Juan B. Vigil

Juan B. Vigil, 93, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on August 5, 2005. He is preceded in death by his sons, Roy, Teofilo and Paul Vigil. He is survived by his wife Teordora Vigil, his children, Dolores Cata of Espanola, Esther Cordova (Johnny) of Santa Fe, Roland Vigil (Mitzi) of Fort Smith AK, Henry Vigil (Joyce), Rachel Trujillo (Bernie) both of Llano Quemado, Patsy Kittridge (Tommy) of Rapid Falls, MN, Rose Maestas (Eltin) from Ranchos de Taos, Kathy Appel (John) from Lake Havasu, AZ, Anthony Vigil (Candy) of Norfolk, NE, Raylene Casias of Taos, sister, Maclovia Martinez, niece, Lorraine Trujillo (Mannie), both of Taos and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren. A Memorial service was held at the Rivera Chapel August 9, 2005. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Luciano Romero
August 5, 2005
Luciano Romero, 66, of Vadito, passed away suddenly on August 5, 2005. He retired from Kit Carson Electric in 2003. He owned and operated the Acapulco Nightclub in Rock Wall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Felipe Romero Sr. and Teresita Romero. He is survived by his wife of 46 years of marriage, Mabel Romero, his children, Annette Romero of Las Vegas NV, Terrie Saenz (Tim) of Albuquerque, Lori Romero of Las Vegas NV, Gary Romero (Julie) of Rio Rancho, Peggy Vigil (Benny) of Penasco, Daniel Romero of Albuquerque, brother, Juan Felipe Romero Jr. (Cruzita) of Taos, sisters, Alice Romero (Bob) of Taos, Adelina Romero of Albuquerque, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited August 7, 2005 and Funeral mass was held on August 8, 2005 at the San Antonio de Padua in Penasco. Interment followed at the Placita cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Frederic De Braconier d'Alphen
August 10, 2005
Frederic Marie J. A. J. de Braconier d'Alphen passed away suddenly on August 10, 2005. He is survived by his wife Claudia E. T. Kleefeld, daughters, Giverny and Chiara Aurelia de Braconier d'Alphen, brother, Philippe and Mady de Braconier d'Alphen and their 4 children and his parents, Ivan and Mimy de Braconier d'Alphen.
A service will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at 10:30 AM at 414 Estes Es in Ranchos de Taos. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home, Taos, NM, USA.

Meregildo Martinez, Sr.
August 14, 2005
Meregildo Martinez Sr., 82, of Llano Quemado passed away on August 14, 2005. Mr. Martinez was a longtime rancher in Wyoming and Colorado and retired from the Town of Taos as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He served in the US Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Virginia Martinez, son, Johnny Martinez, brothers and sisters, Nabor Martinez, Luis Martinez, Florinda Martinez, Alfonso Martinez, Elena Martinez, Maria Duran and Teodorita Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Grace Martinez, children, Virginia Romero (Urban), Teddie Santistevan (David), Charlie Martinez, Rudy Martinez (Debra), Betty Martinez, Geraldine Martinez, Peter Martinez (Gayle), Meregildo Martinez Jr. (Debra) and Eddie Martinez (Paula). He is also survived by twenty six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on August 17, 2005 at San Francisco de Asis Church. Funeral service was held on August 18, 2005 at the Good New Christian Fellowship with burial to follow at the Santa Fe National cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.

Ivan G. Abyeta
August 16, 2005
Ivan G. Abeyta, 40, of Arroyo Hondo passed away on August 16, 2005. He was owner and operator of IMA Mechanical. He graduated from Taos High School in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Abeyta, children, Joseph, Adam and Janelle Gonzales, Daniel Maestas, Justin Phillippi Abeyta, grandchildren, Nathaniel and Aleena Gonzales and Isaac Maestas, parents, Felipe Abeyta and Bernadette Abeyta, brother, Mark Abeyta, sisters, Erica Jeantette (Eric) and Jessica Abeyta, nieces, Britney and Amberlee Jeantette, in laws, Leroy and Loretta Phillippi, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral mass was held on August 19, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Memorial service was held on August 20, 2005 at Rivera Chapel.

Jose Salomon Struck
August 16, 2005
Jose Salomon Struck, 83, of Taos passed away on August 16, 2005. He was an Army veteran of WWII who served in Europe and was the recipient of two purple hearts for wounds received in combat. He was a longtime Taos school teacher of 9th grade Civics. He was an elder of Taos First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theodora Struck, children, Charlene Labadie (Gilbert) of Taos, Sylvia Roybal (Sylvian) and Barbara Larsen all of Denver, CO, Debbie Struck of Taos, Jeanie Sena of Denver, CO and Jessica Bliven (Matthew) of Albuquerque. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Evening service was held on August 17, 2005 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service was held on August 18, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church interment followed at at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Dorothy Brandenburg
August 17, 2005
Dorothy Brandenburg, 103, of Taos passed away on August 17, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brandenburg. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Brenner (John), granddaughters, Marcia B. Winter and Anne Brenner, great grandsons Wyatt and Peter Winter.
At her request there will be no public memorial service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Brandenburg Fund at Taos Community Foundation, 229A Camino de La Placita, Taos, NM 87571.
