Emilia G. Fresquez
Emilia G. Fresquez, 79, of Ranchos de Taos, passed away on August 19, 2005. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Isabel Garcia and son, Robert Anthony Fresquez. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Manuel A. Fresquez, her children, Alex Fresquez (Elidia), Mary P. Roybal (Melvin Trujillo), Henry Fresquez (Anna Espinoza), Joe Fresquez, Ruby Luna (Anthony), Reyes Roybal (Karen Garcia) all from Ranchos de Taos, brother Carlos Garcia, Jr. (Claudina), 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on August 21, 2005. Funeral mass was held on August 22, 2005. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis in Ranchos de Taos. Interment was held at Jesus Nazareno cemetery in Ranchos de Taos.

Daniel Duran
August 24, 2005
Daniel Duran, 54, of Questa passed away on August 24, 2005. He is preceded in death his parents, Samuel and Emilia Duran, sister, Marcella Duran, brothers Nilo, Arthur and Sammy Duran, brother in laws, Ernie Cisneros and Robert Garcia, niece, Rachel Joy Duran. He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Orlinda Garcia, Annadella Cisneros, Cici Romo (Pat), Maurcie Duran (Dorothy), Damian Duran (Elouise), sister-in-law, Lorraine Duran, many nephews and nieces.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, August 26, 2005 7 PM at San Anthony's Church in Questa. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 10 AM at St. Anthony's Church with burial to follow at the San Pedro cemetery.

Jose Bernardino Lovato

Jose Bernardino Lovato, 89, of Chamisal passed away on August 26, 2005. He is preceded in death by his children, Felecita, Henry and Ralph Lovato, parents, Juan P. & Leoardita Martinez, sister, Estella Cordova and brothers, Roman Lovato. He is survived by his wife, Rafaelita Lovato, children, Alex Lovato (Mary) of Colorado, Juan Benito Lovato of Chamisal, Rudy Lovato (Grace) of Albuquerque, Ruby Abrahams (Lewis) of Nebraska, Emery Lovato (Ramona) of Chamisal, Elcira Edgerton (Maurice) of Colorado, Levi Lovato (Inez) of Chamisal, Alexa Liszcz of Colorado, Maria Garcia of Chamisal, Florian Lovato (Ivy) of Taos, Joseph Lovato (Elaine) of Taos and Elizabeth Valdez (Rudy) of Chamisal. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Tiburcio Lovato, Jessie Lovato, Ramoncita Fresquez, Bernie Dominguez, Ernestina Dominguez, Josefita Archuleta and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 1 PM at Rivera Chapel and other arrangements are pending.

Delfina S. Sandoval
September 1, 2005
Delfina S. Sandoval, 87, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on September 01, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix Sandoval and daughter, Rebecca Fiore. She is survived by her sister, Claudina Macias, her children, Evangeline Thompson (Robert), Connie Roth (Ron), Susana Hand (David), Josephine Prince, Amanda Brisko (Barry) and Tony Sandoval (Melody). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitations were on September 3, 2005, September 4. Rosary was recited on September 4, 2005 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on September 5 at San Francisco de Asis Church. Iinterment followed at Jesus Nazareno cemetery.

Betty O. Romero

Betty O. Romero, 63, of Llano Quemado passed away on September 05, 2005. She was a former disc jockey at KKIT Radio Station and a retail clerk at Furr's Grocery and most recently at Cid's Grocery. She is preceded in death by her parents, Flavio & Maria Olonia, sister, Gloria Maestas and brother, Flavio Olonia. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bernie O. Romero, children, Michael P. Romero (Ruth), Bernadette Fernandez, Joseph D. Romero (Frances) all of Ranchos de Taos and Bernie J. Romero Jr. (Barbara) of Silverthorne, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren, Michael P. Romero Jr., Anthony S. Romero, Amanda D. Romero, Dennis A. Fernandez Jr., Miranda Romero, Octaviano P. Romero, Pamela Romero, Catalina P. Fernandez, Michelle Romero, Robert B. Romero and Daniel Romero, brothers and sisters, Ronnie Olonia (Linda), Margie Abeyta (Emilio), Rosalie Romero (Enrique), Dennis Olonia, Uvaldo Olonia (Berlinda), James Olonia (Lorie), Joey Olonia, Johnny Olonia (Jeanette) and Madeline Olonia.
Evening prayer service was held on September 07, 2005 at Apostolic Church of God on Herdner Rd.

Mary N. Dimas
September 9, 2005
Mary N. Dimas, 78, of Taos passed away on September 8, 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jacobo Dimas and her daughters Mabel Medina and Roseanne Dimas. She is survived by her children, Frances Cruz (Dennis) of Taos, Sam Dimas (Patsy) of Georgetown, TX, George Dimas (Maria) of Taos, Raymond Dimas of Taos, Martin Dimas (Francina) of Taos and Martha Martinez (Larry) of San Luis, CO. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Ernestina Benavidez, Genara Jaramillo, Tony Maestas, Rose Martinez, Alfonso Maestas, Mary Jane Sanchez, Ivan Maestas, Eremita Chaves, sister-in-law Connie Dimas, 18 grand children and 10 great grand children.
Rosary was recited on September 11, 2005 at Our Lady of the Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on September 12, 2005 at Our Lady of the Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment followed at Santa Fe National cemetery at 3 PM.

Kennedy J. Kowalczyk

Kenny J. Kowclczyk, 32, passed away on September 9, 2005. He is survived by his mother, Bunni Toohey, father, Rudy Kowalczyk, sister, Bethlehem Toohey, brothers Ethan Allen Hitchcock and grandmother Dorothy Krause.

Donn T. Davies
September 10, 2005
Donn T. Davies, 89, of El Prado, NM passed away on September 10, 20005. In 1992 Donn was awarded the Chester A. Reynolds Award at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, an honor reserved for great figures in the American West. In 2004 he was inducted into the Culver Military Academy Horsemanship Hall of Fame in Indiana for his equestrian accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife Henny, four children, Maria Scott of Mill Valley CA, Donn Davies of Taos, NM, Charles Davies of Rio Rancho, NM, Susie Tate of Cimarron, NM and 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anne Donston of Dayton, WY.

Tessie R. Ortega
September 10, 2005
Tessie Rael Ortega, 82, a lifelong resident of Questa passed away peacefully in her home with her family on September 10, 2005. Mrs. Ortega attended Allison-James Presbyterian School and graduated from Menaul High School in 1942. She received her Associates Degree in Education at Highlands University and taught school for a brief time in the Questa Schools. Mrs. Ortega was also a Foster Grandmother for many years in the Questa Elementary Schools. Tessie was very active in the community her whole life and was Questa's First Lady from 1970-1982. The Village of Questa has chosen to honor her contributions to the community by flying the flags at half mast. Beside her family, she was most proud of her accomplishment of authoring a book in 2003 at the age of 80 titled "Another Time In This Place, La Vida, Culturia Y Historia de Questa". She was preceded in death by her husband Max Ortega, Sr., daughter Betty Ortega and infant daughter Rosemary Ortega, parents J.P. and Esther Rael and sister Maxine Martinez. She is survived by her children Esther Garcia (Eugene), Max Ortega (Monica), Bobby Ortega (Andie) all of Questa and Julie Lucero (Mark) of Albuquerque, grandchildren Myra Garcia of Denver, Kris Rodriguez (Rick) of Ft. Beale Air Force Base, CA, Lori Archuleta (Juan) of Albuquerque, Mark Ortega and, John Anthony Ortega of Questa, Robert Ortega, Jr., Dwayne Ortega and fiancé Feliz Tafoya, Cassandra Ortega all of Questa, Adrian and Lauren Lucero both of Albuquerque, Great-Grandchildren Caitlin Garcia of Denver, Megan and Marissa Archuleta of Albuquerque, Kelsey and Nick Rodriguez of Ft. Beale, CA and Mikaela Ortega of Questa. She is also survived by her brother John Rael (Duby), sister Elsie Piper (Ed) all of Albuquerque, brother-in-law Tom Ortega (Olivia Cortez) of Questa, close extended family members Ben, Elena, Sergio and Natalia Romero of Penasco as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, and many close friends. She will also be missed by her many close primos y primas, hijados y hijadas and by the many Foster grandchildren whom she nurtured as a Foster Grandmother.
A Rosary was recited September 12, at St. Anthony's Church in Questa. The Funeral Mass was held on September 13, 2005 at St. Anthony's Church with interment at El Pueblito cemetery in Questa.

Victoria Lee Byars
September 10, 2005
Victoria Lee Byars, 47, of Taos, formerly of Cerro, passed away on September 10, 2005. She is preceded in death by her step-father Louis B. Gomez, grandfather Estevan Gomez, Uncle Joe Gomez and cousin Abel Gomez, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Dion C. Gallegos Locke (Kurt) of Albuquerque, sons, Daniel Johnathon Martinez of Albuquerque, Julian Romero of Taos, mother Kathleen A. Gomez of Cerro, grandmother Eva Gomez of Cerro, grandson Jesse Daniel Locke, brother Joe Richard Gomez (Isabel) and sister Louann Bridges. She is also survived by uncles, aunts, other relatives and many friends.
There was a memorial service September 16, 2005 at 12 in Questa. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Josephine "Fina" Martinez

Josephine "Fina" A. Martinez, 85, of Taos passed away on September 12, 2005. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and of the Guadalupanas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Abad Martinez. She is survived by her sons, Antonio A. Martinez, Jr. (Dalia) of Taos, Alfred D. Martinez, of Albuquerque, daughters, Lillian Nagle (Ray) of Albuquerque, Dolores Ortiz (Alfonso) of Beeville, TX and Laura A. Van Arsdale (Greg) of Pueblo, CO, 14 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
A rosary was recited on September 14, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taos. A Funeral mass was held, September 15, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National cemetery. Services by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Gilbert Medina
September 12, 2005
Gilbert Ramon Medina of Lower Ranchitos passed away in his sleep on September 12, 2005. He was born on July 22, 1933 in Penasco, New Mexico. He is survived by his mother, Isabel Medina, his children, Margaret Thielemann, Raymond Medina, Jacqueline Medina, Paul Medina and his former wife Carmen Medina. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, J.D. Medina, Andres Medina, Johny Medina, Irene Medina, Michael Medina, Robert Medina and numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces. May he rest in peace.
A Rosary was recited on September 15, 2005 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on September 16, 2005 at our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
