Rosemary Baca
Rosemary Baca, 70, of Taos passed away on January 23, 2006. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Louise Baca.
Funeral mass was held on January 27, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Anita Maria Pacheco
January 24, 2006
Anita Maria Pacheco, 22, of Costilla passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2006. She was a 2001 graduate of Questa High School. She worked at Taos Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. She was very friendly and loved people. She is survived by her parents, Ramon and Linda Pacheco, brothers and sisters, Mariquita Pacheco, Antonio Pacheco (Darlene), Teresa Maldonado (Joe Ben), Ramon, Monica, Lorenzo, Christina and Ernesto Pacheco all of Costilla. She is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Rosary was held on January 30, 2006 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on January 31, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Costilla. Accounts have been set up in Anita's name at People's Bank and First State Bank. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Jayne E. Belanger
January 24, 2006
Jayne E. Belanger, 53, of Sunshine Valley passed away on January 24, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Smith of Sunshine Valley, mother, Betty Simon, brother, Steven Kelsey, sister, Linda Kelsey, grandmother, Phyllis Learned and grandson, James H.B. Smith.
Funeral mass was held on January 27, 2006 at Cerro Catholic Church, interment followed at Sunshine Valley cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Domitilia G. Quintana
January 27, 2006
Domitilia G. Quintana, 91, of Questa, passed away on January 27, 2006. She is preceded in death by her first husband Bernabe Bailon and by Felix Quintana. She is survived by her children Joe Bailon (Nancy Padilla), Albuquerque, NM, Carlos Hererra (Gloria), Questa, 11 step children, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at St. Anthony's in Questa. Funeral mass was held on Monday, January 30, 2006 at St. Anthony's. Interment was held at San Pedro cemetery.

James Poole
, - January 27, 2006
James R. Poole, 86, of Taos, NM, passed away on January 27, 2006. He was a native of the State of Virginia, born in Lawrenceville, VA, in 1919, and a descendent of the founder of the town of Poolesville, VA.
After graduating from Virginia State College in 1942, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force, as one of the renowned Tuskegee Airmen.
In December of 1946, he entered civilian duty as Director of Personnel for the Veterans Hospital, in Tuskegee, Alabama. From July 1952 through March 1961, he served in the positions of Director of Personnel and Assistant Administrator of Freedmen's Hospital in Washington, DC.
In 1961, he joined the U.S. Civil Service Commission (Office of Personnel Management, OPM) as Assistant Director, Office of College Relations and Recruitment, and later served as Director of the Office of Student Employment Programs. Included in his responsibilities was the development and implementation of policies and Presidential executive orders for the recruitment and staffing of Federal positions within the Executive Branch of Government. He assisted several U.S. Presidents in choosing staff.
He held memberships in many professional organizations: Board of Directors, National Cooperative Education Association; Editorial Board, Cooperative Education Journal; National Panel, Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation; World Council, International Cooperative Education Association; Board of Directors, Boys and Girls Clubs of America; Sigma Pi Phi (professional fraternity); and throughout his life maintained his membership in Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.
At the time of his death, he was residing in Taos, NM. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Frances Poole Lee, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Pinder, daughter JoAnn Poole Mills and grandson Seamus Mills of Taos, NM; sister Daisy McFadden of NY; and nephew Dr. Samuel McFadden of Mass., and numerous relatives and friends. He was generous with his time and love.
Private services were held at Taos, NM.

Matthew Jay Harrower
, - January 27, 2006
Matthew Jay Harrower, 45, of Taos passed away on January 27, 2006. He was a Taos resident since 1987. He graduated Ithaca High School in 1978 and won numerous awards for high school wrestling. He was an artist and his folk art was sold at numerous galleries in Taos. He is survived by his mother, Sharon Travis of Ithaca, NY, father, William G. Harrower (Jeanne) of Cortland, NY, brother, Lafe Harrower (Jessica) of Taos, NM, sister, Kristi Luhar of Calabasas, CA (Ron Levi), stepsisters, Wendy Dalton and Tami Aguilar, nephews and nieces, Corrina Harrower, Jens Krosby, Shareena and Trisha Luhar, Samantha and Samson Levi, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service was held on February 03, 2006 at San Geronimo Lodge in Taos. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Mathew's honor to The Epilepsy Foundation, Attn: Accounting Department, 4351 Garden City Drive, Landover, MD 20785-7223, www. Epilepsyfoundation.org.

Cipriano Eduardo Mondragon
, - January 29, 2006
Cipriano "Mano Cippy" Edward Mondragon, 101, of Cordillera passed away on January 29, 2006. He is preceded in death by his wife, Soledad Mondragon and son, Edward Martin Mondragon. He is survived by his daughter, Sofia Dickerson of Virginia, grandchildren, Linda L. Hodges (Flick) of Denver, CO, Suezette Steinhardt (Alan) of Virginia, Lonny Dickerson, Martin A. and Anthony Mondragon (Cara), 14 great grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and other relatives from the Taos area.
Rosary was recited on February 02, 2006 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held February 03, 2006 at San Francisco de Asis Church, interment followed at Los Cordovas cemetery.

Delia C. Vigil
January 31, 2006
Delia C. Vigil, 75, of Questa passed away on January 31, 2006. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Rosemarie Vigil and parents, Celestino and Estrella Aranda and grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Elfido Vigil, son, Adelmo Vigil (Soledad) of Alamogordo, grandsons, Adrian Vigil (Hidi) of Farmington and Gabriel Vigil of El Paso, sisters, Erma Casias of Pueblo, CO, Ida Martinez (Eugene) of Pueblo, CO, Mary Miera (Joe Elifas) of Questa, Nora Archuleta (Elvinio) of Chicago and brother, Henry Aranda (Frances) of Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Marcos, Domnik and Monique Vigil of Farmington and many other relatives.
Evening service was held on February 03, 2006 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service was held on February 04, 2006 at Rivera Chapel. Internment followed at El Pueblito cemetery in Questa.

George Visarraga
, - January 31, 2006
George Visarraga, 70, of Penasco passed away on January 31, 2006 He is preceded in death by his brother, Abreliano Visarraga, parents Abel and Senaida Visarraga and father-in-law, Fernando Lopez. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Oralia M. Visarraga, children, Michael Visarraga (Mary Jane), Wayne Visarraga (Eutemia), Herbert Visarraga (Valerie), Eugene Visarraga (Cathy, Lisa), Norman Visarraga (Charlene), Alonzo Visarraga (Grace), brothers John Visarraga (Corine) and Tony Visarraga (Luisa), mother-in-law, Ofelia Lopez, 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on February 01, 2006 at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. Funeral masswas held on February 02, 2006 at San Antonio de Padua Church.

Andrea S. Vigil
February 3, 2006
Andrea S. Vigil, of Ranchos de Taos, lived a full and glorious life of eighty-eight years. She joined the Lord's choir of angels on February 3, 2006 after a sudden onset of medical complications while living in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Andrea, or Andy as she was known by those who loved her, is survived by her daughters, Ailene (Tony) Martinez of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Marcella (Ray) Dymale also Albuquerque, New Mexico; son, Rudy (Candy) Vigil of Colorado Springs, Colorado; special niece Emma (Louie) Duran; grandchildren, Lydia (Mike) Lucero; Dolores (Tomas) Velasquez; Victoria (John) Rice; Rashad Spriggs; Christina Marquez-Vigil; Cindy Bustamante; Christopher Vigil; Marshall Vigil; Dominic Vigil; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, close family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marshall; her parents, Iley Nunn Selph and Carolina Sandoval; her brothers and sisters, Iley Selph, Hardy Selph, Frank Selph, Thomas Selph, Bettie Medrano, Annie Quintana, Lillie Miera, and Carlotta Salazar and granddaughter Elena Martinez.
Our Mom was a beloved Mom, Grandmother, Great-Nana and friend. A life long Taosena, she touched the lives of countless Taosenos during her career as the secretary to the Taos High School Principal's office and later as a case worker for the Taos County Welfare Department. Her generosity, smile, laughter, hugs and kisses will be missed but treasured forever.
Evening service was held on February 09, 2006 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service was held on February 10, 2006 at Ranchos Presbyterian Church. Interment followed at Jesus Nazareno cemetery in Ranchos de Taos. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of our Mom to the Ranchos Presbyterian Church or to the charity of choice.

William "Punky" Cardenas

William "Punky" Cardenas, 32, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on February 03, 2006. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Placida Cardenas and his sister Veronica Cardenas. He is survived by his wife Cindy Cardenas, of Ranchos de Taos, mother Marcella Cardenas, of Taos, children Adrian, Santiago, Christopher and Amanda Cardenas, sisters, Tomasita Ramirez (Pat), Mary Anne Cardenas (James), Jessica Cardenas (Ernie), brother, Michael Cardenas (Juana), and many other relatives and friends
Rosary was recited on February 06, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral mass was held February, 07, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Donald E. Sudlow

Donald Edward Sudlow, 90, of Taos a supporter and lover of the arts passed away on February 04, 2006. He worked on the Santa Fe railroad in Raton, NM. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was the Dean of fine arts at California State University at Northridge. He is preceded in death by his son, Peter Duval. He is survived by his wife, Ann R. Sudlow, children, David Robertson of Redlands, CA, Mark Robertson (Ann) of Taos, daughter in law, Carolyn Duval of Taos, five grandchildren and niece, Carolyn Frank of San Juan Capistrano, CA.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at 4 PM at Ansland on Blueberry Hill. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Corina V. Duran
February 5, 2006
Corina V. Duran, 93, of Vadito passed away on February 05, 2006. Corina was a well known educator and lived a very active life following her retirement from the Penasco Schools. She was involved in the County 4-H program, sponsoring an exchange program with Japanese students. She undertook tax training with AARP and assisted the elderly with their taxes from 1979 to 1993. She was an active member with the Carmelitas Catholic Society of Rodarte. She was an avid gardener and crotchetier in her spare time. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and community. She is preceded in death by husband, Roger L. Duran, son, Roger I. Duran, grandson, Luis Duran, parents, Benito and Maria Valdez, seven brothers and sisters, four sisters and brothers in law, in laws, Luis and Refugio Duran. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Lorraine Gallegos and husband Wilfred of Vadito, daughter in law, Nora Duran of Rodarte, grandchildren, Stella Sweeney (John), Josie Duran, Wilfred Gallegos, Anita Richards (Robert), Judy Merrill (Lance), John Duran, Carlos Gallegos (Kristine), sisters, Minnie Valdez, Estella Barreras (Mike), brothers, Juan Valentin Valdez (Lois) of Lancaster, CA, Gilbert Valdez of Vadito, Octaviano Valdez (Elvia) of Penasco, sister in law, Faby Romero (Eli) of Rodarte, brother in law, John Duran (Stella) of Butte Montana.
Rosary was recited on February 07, 2006at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. Funeral mass was held on February 08, 2006 at San Antonio de Padua Church. Interment followed at Rodarte cemetery.
