Bette H. Connerley
February 6, 2006
Bette H. Connerley, 78, formerly of Fremont, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2006, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. The last two years Bette has lived in Taos, New Mexico near her son Jay.
Bette was born June 21, 1927 in Baird, Texas. She grew up in Texarkana, Texas. There she met her future husband, Melvin Connerley. He was in the Army and stationed near by. They married in May 1949.
They lived and traveled all over the United States. Bette and Melvin had homes in Puerto Rico, where their two children were born, in California, Washington, and Kansas. Melvin retired to Fremont in 1962. When they moved back to Fremont, Melvin took over the family business, Connerley Wine and Liquor store. Melvin died in July 1990.
Two years ago, when her Parkinson's became more difficult, Bette moved to Taos to be near her son, Jay. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Kraemer and husband, Rob, of Tampa, Florida and her son Jay, and wife Mary, of Taos, New Mexico, Mary's son Paul Gugino, his wife and three daughters of Cincinnati, Ohio. She also leaves behind her sister, Tini Cummings, of Texarkana, Texas and many longtime friends and neighbors in Fremont.
Bette will be remembered as a supportive and loving wife and mother. She was a good and loyal friend with a giving heart. Bette was involved in many charitable organizations and was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was well known for her quilting skills and being the ultimate hostess. She was a wonderful cook, well known for her chocolate chip cookies.
A memorial Mass was held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Freemont Nebraska, February 13 with a reception following Mass. Internment will be at a later date in Arlington National cemetery along side Melvin. In lieu of flowers please send donations to:

Her children would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Plaza De Retiro, her home the last two years for their loving attention and compassion. This will always be deeply appreciated and gratefully remembered.

Bonnie Boothby
February 8, 2006
Bonnie Boothby, 76, of Taos passed away on February 08, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Lee Boothby (Richard Kaye), grandsons, Chad Welch (Colleen) and Cole Welch, sister, Mardy Dickenson, niece, Sherry Taylor and former husband, John Boothby.
Graveside service was held on February 18, 2006 at noon at Arroyo Seco Community cemetery, an open house will follow to celebrate Bonnie's life. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Florida R. Tafoya
February 10, 2006
Florida Tafoya, 81, of Penasco passed away on February 10, 2006. She is preceded in death by her parents Climaco and Rosabel Medina, sister, Clissy Thompson and brothers Henry and John Medina. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jose Cornelio Tafoya, her children, Susana Vigil (Cipriano), Doris Tafoya (Miquel Romero), Darlene Abeyta (Epifano), William Tafoya and Cleo Tafoya (Terry Murphy, her grandson who she raised Louie Tafoya (Michelle Campos), her grandchildren Felicita Pinon (Alex), Cipriano Vigil (Kim Archuleta), Cecile Gomez (Ronnie), Miguel Romero, Jr. (Rachel), Orlando Abeyta (Stephanie, Aileen Garcia and 15 great grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on February 12. 2006 at the Rivera Chapel and February 13, 2006 at San Antonio Catholic Church in Penasco. Mass was held on February 14, 2006 at at San Antonio Catholic Church with interment at the Santa Fe National cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Roberto M. Martinez

Roberto M. Martinez, 85, of Taos passed away on February 12, 2006. He was a longtime rancher and also worked in Los Alamos for many years and retired from the Town of Taos. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita V. Martinez, infant son, Robert Edgar Martinez, brothers and sisters, Elias, Guillermo and Louis Martinez, Andrea Tejada and Aurora Cruz. He is survived by his daughter, Eleanor Cardenas (Benny) of Santa Fe and son, Robert A. Martinez (Molly) of Taos, sisters, Delia Martinez and Alice Vargas (Elias) all of Taos. He is also survived by grandchildren, Barbara Wolf (David), Thomas Cardenas (Rosalyn), Andrea Overturf (Ryan), Robert and Jennifer Martinez, great grandchildren, Danielle Cardenas, Ryan Wolf, Benjamin and Caleb Cardenas and Marisa Overturf.
Rosary was recited February 14, 2006 at at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on February 15, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment followed at the Santa Fe National cemetery.

Dottie Addison
February 13, 2006
Dottie Addison, 73, of Red River passed away on February 13, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Gene Addison, children, William D. Addison (Susie)of Plano, TX, Cindy Hott (Butch) of Weatherford, TX, Scott Addison of Taos, Terri Addison of Las Vegas, Nevada, brother, Lawrence Willenborg (Rosie) of Granbury, TX, grandchildren, Timothy and Christopher Addison, Beje Hott, Alicia and Amanda Addison and Chelsea Jellema.
Memorial service was held on February 16, 2006 at the Faith Mt. Church in Red River.

Tomas Gonzales
February 13, 2006
Tomas Gonzales, 84, of Taos (Valdez) passed away on February 13, 2006. He worked for 25 years in Wyoming as a sheepherder, 9 years in Gilman, CO as a miner and returned to Taos to work for 3 years with the Carson National Forest. He also worked with the Town of Taos as security and then retired to enjoy fishing, gardening, dancing and joking. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dora Trujillo Gonzales. He is survived by his children, Dianna Portillo (Manuel), Lorella Salazar (Ernest Martinez), Arthur T. Gonzales (Rose), Annette A. Vigil all of Taos and Nora Maestas (Joe) of Grand Junction, CO. He is also survived by his sister, Guillerma Ortega of Valdez, aunts, Soveida Varos and Lola Gonzales, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Rosaries were recited on February 14, 2006 at Rivera Chapel and on February 15, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment followed at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Modesto Romero
February 15, 2006
Modesto Romero passed away February 15, 2006 at the Taos Living Center. He was born in Vadito, New Mexico on August 4, 1925 to Filomena Barela Martinez and Epimenio Romero.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings. He is survived by sister, Carolina Vijil, Salt Lake City, UT nieces and nephews, Priscilla Visarraga, Taos, Naomi Aguilar, El Valle, Mary Visarraga, Truth or Consequences, Trinidad Medina, Vadito, Helen Visarraga, Viviana Romero, Frank Visarraga, Olympia, WA, Alfredo Visarraga, Denver, CO, Floyd Visarraga, Layton, Utah and Mallina (Sabina) Visarraga, Bacalar, Mexico, and more than 40 great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Beloved Tio – "May the long time sun shine upon you, All love surround you, And the pure light within you Guide your way on".
Cremation will take place. Funeral Mass will be held at San Antonio De Padua in Penasco on Friday, February 24th, 10:00 AM. Memorial Service is planned for July. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Nichole Sophia Martinez

Nichole Sophia Martinez, 17, of Arroyo Hondo passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2006. She was a Senior at Taos High School. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Jose Vicente Sanchez and Bernabe Martinez, uncle, Jospeh Sanchez and cousin, Vicente Vigil. She is survived by her parents, Marcia Sanchez (Randy) and Johnny Martinez (Donna), sisters, Jessica Martinez of Arroyo Hondo, Sonya Martinez of Taos, Alicia Martinez of Arroyo Hondo, Tiana Martinez of Taos, brothers, Ronnie and Anthony Cordova. She is also survived by nephews, Jerome, Juan and Joseph Romero, grandmothers, Genara Sanchez of Arroyo Hondo and Sophia Martinez of Arroyo Seco, many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on February 17, 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Funeral mass will be held on February 18, 2006 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Arroyo Hondo. Interment followed at Rael cemetery.

Juanita M. Montoya

Juanita M. Montoya, 101, of El Prado, passed away on February 17, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Jose "J J" Montoya, daughter, Alice Lorraine Montoya and her parents, Samuel and Aurelia Lavadie and 7 brothers. She is survived by her children, Jose Arturo Montoya (Eufracia), Cora M. Garcia (Rumaldo), Ernesto M. Montoya (Dolores M.), Lillian M. Martinez (Robert L), her brother, Cristobal Lavadie, her 9 grandchildren, Michell Kosel, Dennise Montoya, Isabelle Garcia Herman (Dave), Francisco L. Garica (Sandy), Loretta Duran Martinez, Julian A. Montoya, Ronnie Martinez (Sue), Lawrence Martine (Marilyn) and Jerry Martinez (Melissa), 10 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Kosel, Jose Pancho Garcia, John Michael Duran, Stephanie Duran, Cherie Montoya, Lorenzo Martinez, Alonzo Martinez, Daimen Martinez, Abren Martinez, Marco Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited February 19, 2006. Funeral mass was held February 20, 2006. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment was held at Sierra Vista cemetery. Services by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Antonia Lucas

Antonia Mygatt Lucas, 1921-2006, a local artist and music teacher died of natural causes on February 19, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Lucas, sister, Judith Richardson and brother, Donald Mygatt. She is survived by daughters, Suni M. Lucas, Tami A. Lucas, Bonnie W. Lucas and husband, Christopher J. Alexander and granddaughter, Grace Alexander. She is also survived by her siblings, Peter Mygatt, Samuel Lloyd, Christopher Lloyd, Ruth Lloyd and Adele Lloyd.

Angela Montoya
February 19, 2006
Angela Maria Suazo Montoya, 85, of El Prado passed away on February 19, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband, Atilano. She is survived by two brothers, Nazario Suazo Jr. and Augustine Suazo. She is survived by her children, Roberto Montoya, Benito E. Montoya and wife Peggy, Viola Macias and husband, Lawrence, Yolanda Sandoval and husband, Ernesto, Atilano Augustin Montoya and wife, Margaret, Delayne Perry and husband, Keith She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Rosaries will be recited on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel and on Friday, February 24, 2006 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at Dolores cemetery.

Eddy Lee Bullington

Eddy Lee Bullington, 40, of Red River passed away on February 22, 2006. He was a local musician for many years. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jo Fasnacht and Edward L. Fasnacht, paternal grandparents, Gene and Sophie Bullington, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his children, Jordan Taylor and Makenna Monet Bullington, parents, Bob and JoLene Bullington all of Red River, brother, Robert Lynn Bullington Jr. (Laura) of Alamosa, CO and niece, Autumn Lanning Bullington.
There will be a public visitation on Monday, February 27, 2006 3 to 7 PM at the Rivera Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at 10 AM at Red River Community House with burial to follow at Red River cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the following: First Baptist Church of Red River, NM, Children's Day Care Center to be built for the children of Red River and surrounding areas, National Alliance for Research of Schizophrenia and "Depression", 60 Cutter mill Road, Suite #404, Great Neck, NY 11021, Circle of Love (music through Hospice for the critically or terminally ill or in pain), P.O. Box 212, El Rito, NM 87530. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.

Todd Dillon, 42, of Questa, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2006. He owned and operated Dillon Electrical Service. Todd loved the outdoors, music and sports. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Eusebio and Emilia Rael and Robert and Roberta Dillon. He is survived by his wife, Denise Dillon, his parents, David Dillon (Lolita), Craig, CO, Wanda Dillon, Questa, his brothers, Whitney Dillon, Florida, Rene Dillon, California and Flint Dillon, Colorado, his sister, Luann K. Dillon, Questa, his parents-in-law Felix Archuleta and Ruth Archuleta (Tom), brothers and sisters-in law, Felix Archuleta, Jr., Patsy Archuleta (Lorenzo), Dino Archuleta, Jamie Archuleta (Anita), and Debbie Carroll (Raul), nieces and nephews Jacob, Sonya, Lorenzo, Ruby Ann, Michelle, Jerome and Paul, 3 great nephews, numerous aunts and uncles, godson, Daniel Gomez and goddaughter, Emmy Gallegos.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at Rivera Chapel. Interment was held on February 27, 2006 at El Pueblito cemetery.
