Guillermo Santistevan ,87, passed away on February 24, 2006. He owned and operated Santistevan Auto Repair Shop. He was preceded in death by his wife Eutilia Santistevan, sisters, Feloniz Abeyta, Candelaria Romero, Viola Chacon along with his brother Roy Santistevan. He is survived by his children, Carlos Santistevan (Mary Frances) of Albuquerque, Robert R. Santistevan (Dee) of Albuquerque, David Santistevan (Teddie) of Ranchos de Taos, his sisters, Odilia Trujillo, Selina Trujillo (Jose), his brother Roy Santistevan (Ester), 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at San Francisco de Asis in Ranchos de Taos. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 27, 2006 at 11 AM, at San Francisco de Asis.

Brian Falk
, - February 25, 2006
William Brian Falk 46*, of Taos passed away on Feb.25,2006 after a brief battle with liver cancer. Brian was born in San Francisco, Ca. on May 15, 1959. A resident of Taos since 1993, he was the founder of FaFa's Furniture & Fine Arts.
Brian is survived by his life partner of 23 years, Tom Greer, his mother Irene Falk, his sister Monica Falk and his uncle Bill Soares, as well as many dear friends and clients.
Donations can be made to Southwest C.A.R.E. Center, 649 Harkle Rd., Suite E, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
Friends and clients were invited to a celebration of Brian's life at El Monte Sagrado on March 08, 2006.

Maria Polly Rivera

Maria Polly Rivera, 83, of Taos passed away on February 26, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Rivera. She is survived by her sons, Manuel Montoya of Taos, Leroy Montoya (Karen) of Phoenix, AZ, Ezequiel Montoya (Rachel) of Albuquerque, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sister, Cecilia Yaggy of Springfield, Missouri and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on March 01, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on March 02, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Faith Berghofer
, - February 27, 2006
Faith K. Berghofer, 81, of Embudo passed away on February 27, 2006. She was born on May 30, 1924 in Superior, Wisconsin to Eugene and Florence Keaough. She came to New Mexico as a missionary nurse in 1946 for Embudo Presbyterian Hospital. She was a graduate of St. Luke Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for several northern New Mexico hospitals and home health. She was active in getting the first ambulance service started in northern New Mexico at Embudo and Dixon Fire Department. Faith loved her nursing career and family. At the end of her life she continued to care about her former patients, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Gorden Eugene Berghofer, sisters, Jesse Clark, Florence Williams, Mary Ford, brothers, William, Rupert and Eugene Keaough. She is survived by her husband, Carl B. Berghofer Sr., son, Carl B. Berghofer Jr., daughter, Faith Elaine Berghofer, grandchildren, Carl J., Mikeal and Sharita Joyce Berghofer, Philip John Chrysler, Faith Ellen Shehane, Joseph Eugene Chrysler, great grandchildren, Kyley, Delaney Sage and Gorden Hale.
Memorial service was held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Dixon Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dixon Presbyterian Church or your local church.

Juan G. Lujan
, - February 28, 2006
Juan G. Lujan, 89, of Taos Pueblo passed away on February 28, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Tonita Lujan, children, Ronald J. Lujan (Janice) and Judith Ann Lujan, sister, Marie Concha, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Kathaleen Previti, 70, of Llano Quemado passed away on March 02, 2006. She was the former owner of Tea & Coffee Shop. She is survived by her children, Terry Previti of Taos, Kelly Previti of Albuquerque, Patrick Previti of Albuquerque and Donna Rose Previti of Taos, grandchildren, Phoebe Anne Moore and Ian Lucier, nieces, Erin Ruscetti, Megan and Morgan Chavez.
Mass was held on March 10, 2006 at San Francisco de Asis in Ranchos de Taos.

Maria de La Paz Madrid
March 8, 2006
Maria de La Paz Madrid, 96, of Arroyo Seco passed away on March 08, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Ambrosio Madrid, son, Leo Madrid and daughter, Eloisa Garcia. She is survived by her children, Roselia Martinez (Ruben) of Pueblo, CO, Elvira Garcia (Fidel) of Arroyo Seco, Olivia Rendon (George) of Montrose, CO, Frank Madrid (Mary) of Arroyo Seco, Berlinda Madrid (Uvaldo Olonia) of Taos, 33 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosaries were recited on Saturday, March 11, 2006 and Sunday, March 12, 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Funeral mass was held on Monday, March 13, 2006 Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Denison Walton Tafoya
March 9, 2006
Denison Walton Tafoya, 36, of Ranchos de Taos passed away unexpectedly on March 09, 2006. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin and also received further education at American University and a Masters of Arts Degree in Media Studies in New York. She was a disc jockey for radio stations in New Orleans, Washington State, Colorado and Taos. She is preceded in death by her father, Anthony Smrstick and stepfather, Bernie Flath. She is survived by her husband Gil John Tafoya, mother, Paulene Walton-Flath, parents in law, Gil & Brenda Tafoya, sisters and brother in laws, Dina Sowers (Darwin), Marcos Tafoya (Vanessa), Monika Garcia (Diego), nieces and nephew, Shawnee and Randi Sowers, Sarae Garcia and Santiago Tafoya, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rosary was recited on March 12, 2006. Funeral mass was held on March 13, 2006. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.

Lorenzo Maestas, 64, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on March 10, 2006. He is preceded in death by his son, Lorenzo Maestas, Jr and his parents, Abedon and Damiana Maestas. He is survived by his children, Cathy Romero (Leonard) of Ranchos de Taos and Lori Ann Maestas of Ranchos de Taos, his sisters, Becky Cortez and Frances Mondragon (Leo), his grandchildren, Melinda Montoya, Valorie Bermudez and Andrew "A.J." Lampman and his great grandchildren, Isaiah Montoya, Marisol Montoya, Javier Montoya and Kayla Bermudez.
Rosary was recited on Monday, March 13, 2006. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. Both services were held San Francisco de Asis. Interment was held at New Llano Quemado cemetery.

Tito M. Velasquez

Tito M. Velasquez, 71, of Questa passed away on March 12, 2006. He retired as a miner from Moly Corp. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel & Cristina Velasquez, brothers, Erlindo and Joe Velasquez. He is survived by his wife, Oclides Velasquez, sons, Kenneth Velasquez of Albuquerque and Lawrence Velasquez of Questa. He is also survived by his sister, Isabel Trujillo of Questa and his carnal, Charlie Velasquez (Patsy) of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren, Julia, Kenny and Jon Michael Velasquez.
Memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at Rivera Chapel.

Julia M. Gonzales

Juliana "Julia" M. Gonzales, 92, of Des Montes passed away on March 14, 2006. She is preceded in death by her infant son, Juan Gonzales Jr., parents, Juan B. & Maria Eulogia Martinez, brothers, Vidal and Ismael Martinez and sister, Evilia Martinez. She is survived by her husband, Juan A. Gonzales, children, Priscilla Martinez (Gilbert) of Arroyo Seco, Connie DeVargas (Pete) of Santa Fe, Bernice Cordova (Fernando) of Taos and Mary Ellen Trujillo (Richard Avina) of Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Rosary was on March 16, 2006 a at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Funeral mass was held on March 17, 2006 at Holy Trinity Church. Interment followed at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Cordilia R. Aguilar
, - March 15, 2006
Cordilia R. Aguilar, 82, a life-long resident of Peñasco, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, former Taos County Commissioner Amador Romero and wife Leonardita; brothers Rev. Porfirio Romero, Nelson Romero, Miguel Romero, Celestino Romero; and grandson, Jerome Aguilar. Cordilia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Abenancio Aguilar of Peñasco; sister, Candelaria Aguilar, El Valle, brother, Samuel Martinez, Albuquerque; children, Wilfredo and wife Gaylen, Peñasco, Eduardo and wife Dolores, Ojo Caliente, Louella and husband Antonio Gurulé, Los Lunas, Dolores and husband Ned Martinez, Peñasco, Andy, Albuquerque, and Daniel and wife Amie , El Prado. Grandchildren, Lorrie, Marylou Cordelia, Jabé, Antonia, Cassie, Natalia, Rubel, Ned, Nicole, Daniel Esteban, Ariana, and great-grandson Isaiah. She will also be missed by her extended family, on the Romero and Aguilar side of the family who considered her their second mom and favorite tía. A member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church of Peñasco, Cordelia was born in the tiny mountain village of El Valle on the Rio Las Trampas. She followed her brothers and sisters to the Presbyterian mission schools of Allison James in Santa Fe and Menaul in Albuquerque via the Chili Line railroad in Embudo. She attended classes at UNM and eventually earned a BA in education from Highlands University. Cordelia taught for 33 years throughout small rural schools in Taos County. She concluded her teaching career in the Penasco Independent School system where she taught Home Economics at the High School and Title I reading classes. Her passion in her life was homemaking and doting over her grandchildren as well as caring for her hummingbirds and flowers. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Peñasco. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Cordelia's name be made to Menaul School in Albuquerque, NM. Checks may be mailed to Advancement Office/301 Menaul Blvd. NE/Albuquerque,NM 87107.

Nila Vigil
, - March 15, 2006
Nila Vigil, 91, of Cerro passed away on March 15, 2006. She is preceded in death by her parents, Max & Rumaldita Vigil, sister, Rosalia V. Herrera and brother, Waldo Vigil. She is survived by her sister, Maria S. Vigil of Cerro, brother, Levi Vigil (Irene) of Taos, niece, Rose Herrera of Cerro, other nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Rosary was recited on March 16, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cerro. Funeral mass was held on March 17, 2006 at 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment to follow at Cerro cemetery.

Katie G. Martinez
March 16, 2006
Katie G. Martinez, 89, of El Prado passed away on March 16, 2006 in Questa. She worked for many years as a nurse's aid with the State of New Mexico Senior Care. She is preceded in death by daughter, Juanita Martinez, son, Fernando Martinez and grandson, Arnie Cisneros, Sr. She is survived by her children, Sofia Cisneros (Cornelio, Jr.) and Tony Martinez of Taos, sister, Marlou Herrera (John) of Albuquerque, brother, Eddie Cisneros (Lisa) of Orange, CA, sister, Merlin Santistevan, brother-in-law Menard Martinez (Betty), 15 grand children, 22 great grand children and 1 great grand child.
Rosaries were recited on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Rivera Chapel and Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mass was held on Monday March 20, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment was held at Dolores cemetery.
