Eloisa Lopez
Died August 18, 2006
Eloisa Lopez, 73 of Arroyo Seco passed away on August 18, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Mauricio Lopez.
Rosary was recited on August 21, 2006. Funeral mass was held on August 22, 2006. Both services were held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Arroyo Seco. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Filemon R. Gutierrez
August 18, 2006
Filemon R. Gutierrez, 78, of La Cordillera passed away on August 18, 2006. He was a veteran of the Korean War and he retired as a teacher from Taos High School in 1985. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Gutierrez Olonia. He is survived by his wife, Stella Gutierrez and children, David Gutierrez (Barbara) of Cordillera, Ernie Gutierrez (Laura) of Santa Fe, Margaret Gonzales (Elbert) of Las Colonias, Joseph Gutierrez (Lori) of Cordillera and James Gutierrez of Albuquerque. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brothers, Eli Gutierrez (Grace) of Santa Fe and Lorenzo Gutierrez Sr. of Cordillera and many other relatives.
Rosaries were recited on August 20, 2006 at Rivera Chapel and on August 21, 2006 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on August 22, 2006 at San Francisco de Asis Church. Interment was held at Las Cruces cemetery in Taos.

John Anthony Fusek
Died August 26, 2006
John Fusek, 56, of Taos, passed away on Saturday evening, August 26, 2006, at the Holy Cross Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1950, in Burbank, CA, graduated from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks in 1969, and attended Valley College in the San Fernando Valley. John loved nature and the simple life, which originally brought him to Taos in the early 1970's where he met his former wife and mother of his children, Genie Munson. He was, among many other things, a wood carver. He lived in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Wisconsin, California and Indiana. For the last several years of his life he enjoyed living on his land in the Three Peaks area of Taos.
preceded in death by his father Adolph Fusek, John is survived by his mother Margaret Fusek of North Hollywood, CA; 10 brothers and sisters of California and Oregon which are Jim Fusek, Polly Fusek, Monica deMalleville, Kathleen Fusek, Bill Fusek, Tom Fusek, Jane Fusek, Tess Schallard, Joe Fusek and Margie Sagnotti; one son, John Fusek of Albuquerque; daughter Maggie Avants of Murrieta, CA; daughter Bethany Shecker of Chino Valley, AZ; and four grandchildren. Arrangements by Rivera-Hanlon Funeral Home.
Thank you to the staff at the Holy Cross Hospital for the gentle care you provided him, and to anyone who may have befriended him over the years.

Guillerma M. Romero
August 28, 2006
Guillerma "Willie" Romero, 81, of Talpa passed away on August 28, 2006. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Antonio Lopez, parents, Andres and Eloisa Maestas, brothers, Alex, Ralph and Landy Maestas, stepson, Clarence Romero. She is survived by her husband, Jose de La Luz Romero, children, Ruben Lopez, Priscilla Martinez (Bob), Irma Dewig (John), David Lopez, Celeste Owens (Keith) and Antonella Vermillion, stepchildren, Joe Romero Jr. (Yvonne), Maria A. Penner (Carl), Bob Romero (Alice), Raymond Romero (Darlene), Randy Romero, Julie Caffrey (Kevin), Delores Serio (Don), Francisco Romero, Yvonne Miranda (John), daughter in law, Frances Lopez, 34 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Tacho Maestas (Kathy), Esther Santistevan (Roy), Corine Valdez (Gene), Andres Maestas Jr., Uvaldo Maestas (Linda), Bernie Maestas, Tammie Maestas and Manuel Maestas (Cecilia), sisters in law, Josie and Dorothy Maestas.
Rosary was recited on September 01, 2006. Funeral mass was held on September 02, 2006. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at Talpa cemetery.

Catalina R. Barela
Died August 30, 2006
Catalina R. Barela, of Taos passed away on August 30, 2006. She was an Aztec dancer with the dance group Iscalli in Nantzin. She was a very loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband, Manuel "Manny" E. Barela, daughters, Jenee "Paloma" Barela and Lucy Padilla (Rhom) all of Taos, parents, Don & Jennie Wilson of Pittsburg. She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Francisco Reyna of Denver, Esther Valverde (Alberto) of Mexico, Rafaela Alvardo (Gabriel) of Mexico, Jessie Reyna of Denver, Maria Reyna of Taos, Louis Chiapparelli (Dolly) of Bakersfield, CA, grandmother, Dominga Espina de Reyna of Mexico, beloved, nieces and nephew, Angelika Barela, Tristan and Isabella Padilla, godchildren, Joshua Reyna, Gabriella Spence, Dominque Spence, Adelina Sanchez, beloved pet, Koqueta, many other relatives and friends.
Evening service was held on September 01, 2006. Funeral service was held on September 02, 2006. Both services were held at Taos Foursquare Church. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Dr. Leo Dow Bradley
Died September 3, 2006
Dr. Leo Dow Bradley died on September 3rd, 2006 at 2:10 am. Dr. Bradley was born on May 21, 1927 in Holiday, Texas to Leo Bradley, Sr. and Gladys Ruth. The family moved to Athens a few years later and he graduated from Athens High School. He entered World War II late serving in the Coast Guard for 2 years.
Leo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He served on the faculty of Criswell College until retirement. He earned 2 degrees from Texas A&M and received his PhD in Education from the University of Houston. He taught every grade level from elementary to college during his career. Over the years, he served as Principal of Longfellow Elementary School and Beaumont High School, Assistant Superintendent in Corpus Christi, and Superintendent in Grand Prairie and Spring Branch.
Upon his retirement, Dr. Bradley and his wife relocated to Taos, New Mexico and built a home. He went to work, at no charge, in his son-in-law and daughter's business teaching emergency response. Dr. Bradley and his wife dedicated their last years to helping their children and grandchildren realize their dreams.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Burgess, and his youngest daughter, Ellen Ruth Dyke. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen of Taos, New Mexico; his two daughters – Dowann Oskins of Taos, New Mexico and Gladys May Shelley of Dallas, Texas; and his son, John Martin Bradley of Corpus Christi, Texas. He has four grandchildren: Jacqueline, Michael, John Dell (JD), and Veronica.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, September 6th at Santa Fe National cemetery with Dr. George Davis officiating.

Sandra Call
Died September 3, 2006
Sandra Marie Call, 54, of Taos passed away on September 03, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Peter Freston Lyne, mother, Ora Call, brothers and sisters, Larry Call (Mary), James Call (Theresa), Nora Sego (Robert), Don Call (Patti), Dorothy Jones (Jepson), Bill Call (Sherree) and Shirley Kunard (Alan).
Memorial service was held on September 09, 2006 at Rivera Chapel.

Kathleen E. Harness
Died September 5, 2006
Kathleen E. Harness, 90, formerly of Taos passed away on September 5, 2006 in San Diego, California. A devoted wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and three sons, Michael, Stephen and Robert Harness. She was a resident of Taos for many years where her son was an instructor at UNM. Kathleen is survived by her sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Gunther, and brother, Fred "Bud" Krueger, Jr., both of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Khristine Gamer, and four great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Zoe, Lilith and Jamie Gamer of San Diego, California.
A funeral mass was held at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Alpine, California. Interment was held at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
Kathleen enjoyed telling a good story nearly as much as she enjoyed listening to one. She will be missed. The family thanks the residents of Taos who befriended and helped Kathleen following the death of her son, Robert Harness.

Robert Crane Coleman
Died September 10, 2006
Robert Crane Coleman, 60, of Taos passed away on September 10, 2006. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Ann McCollough and his brothers John C. Coleman and Don Coleman.

Danny Joe Oldani
September 13, 2006
Danny Joe Oldani, 61, of Taos, New Mexico, formerly of Herrin, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at his residence in Taos, New Mexico.
Mr. Oldani was a Business Consultant for obtaining funding for Cancer Center's throughout the world. Danny traveled extensively throughout the world, to areas such as the Manila, Philippines, where he lived for awhile and to New Dehli, India., London, England and Italy. He served
as the CEO for Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, and as the Administrator for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.
He was of the catholic faith and attended OLMC St. Mary's Grade School and Herrin High School and Murray State University at Murray, KY He was born April 3, 1945 in Herrin, IL to Guido Joseph and Sarah Elizabeth (Cantrell) Oldani. Surviving are, three daughters, Stephanie Michelle Oldani of Carterville, IL, Leslie J. Oldani-Benner of New Bedford, MA, Kelly J. Sealy of Herrin, IL; five grandchildren, Patrick A. Oldani of Herrin, Amanda J. Smith of Herrin, Aaron J. Sealy of Herrin, Daniel Edward Benner of New Bedford, MA, Kathryn S. Benner of New Bedford, MA; brother, Michael Oldani of Iowa, nieces and nephew and an honorary grandchild, "Pretty", Stephanie's English Bulldog.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eliza Valerio
September 13, 2006
Eliza, Valerio, 77, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on September 13, 2006. She is preceded in death by her husband Feliberto Valerio in 1988, daughter, Isabel Valerio and 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Carmen Duran, Helen Montoya (Isaac), Andy Valerio (Judy), Gloria Passino (George) all of Ranchos de Taos, grandchildren, Thomas Duran, Antonette Martinez, Christopher Valerio, Jonathan and Mark Montoya, Andrew Valerio, Lisa Gallegos, Antonio Passino and 5 great grandchildren.
Rosary was recited on September 15, 2006. Funeral mass was held on September 16, 2006. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held at San Francisco cemetery.

Wallace Chatwin
Died September 16, 2006
Wallace Dayton Chatwin, 80, a resident of Bosque Farms since 1997 and formerly of Taos died Saturday, September 16, 2006. He is survived by his spouse of 57 years, Nora; children, Susan and husband Stephen Peterson, Lynn and wife Joni Chatwin, Carolyn and husband Rich Murset, Lorraine and husband Dave Reschke, Kevin and wife Shannon Chatwin, Sherri and husband Jeff Thayne; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Gloria and brother Gordon. Before moving to Bosque Farms, Wally was a long-time resident of Taos, NM where he was a building contractor. Wally was a respected member of his community and well known for his humor and outgoing personality. He was an active member of his church.
Services were held September 20, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Los Lunas and on September 21, 2006 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Taos with interment at Miera Family cemetery in Taos.

Fernando Rivera
September 17, 2006
Fernando Francisco Rivera, 63, a resident of Rio Rancho and former long time resident of Santa Fe & Taos, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 17, 2006. He was a former police chief for the town of Taos. He was born on October 2, 1942 in Taos to Gilbert and Maria Luisa Rivera. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Armando Rivera, Louis Rivera, and Antonio Rivera, sisters; Celina Rivera Martinez and Molly Rivera Ferguson, father in-law Joseph de la Cruz Ramirez, and brother in-law Robert Paul Ramirez. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Barbara Y. Rivera of Santa Fe & Rio Rancho, son Lt. Matthew Rivera of Florida, and daughter Collette Rivera Wyrick of Arizona. Grandchildren, Thomas & Drew Wyrick of Arizona, sisters, Senaida Vigil and husband Arthur of Taos, Magdalena Santistevan and husband Jim of Taos, Donna Hynes and husband Jim of Castro Valley, CA, and Maria Gallegos and husband Alex of Taos, mother in-law Doris Ramirez, brother in-law Michael Ramirez and wife Sandra, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Rosaries were recited on Sept. 20, 2006 at Rivera Chapel and on Sept. 21, 2006 at La Paloma Funeral Home in Santa Fe. Funeral mass was held on Sept. 22, 2006 St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe. Interment was held at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Lucille Downs
September 19, 2006
Lucille M. Downs of Taos passed away on September 19, 2006. She was born in Zanesville, OH on November 21, 1921. She owned and operated for many years, Mr. Duffy's Kids Play Space and was loved by many Taos children. Many knew her for her volunteer work with the Kit Carson Museums. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Spung in 1970 and second husband, Ralph Downs in 1985, sisters, Margaret Mace and Irene Alderman. She is survived by her sons, Richard Spung II of Taos and John Spung of Monterey, CA, grandchildren, Stacey Tomasello of Monterey, CA, Cameron Spung (Tesheena) of Taos, Carlin Spung of Taos, great grandchildren, Adrian Hunter Spung of Taos, Arianna and Nathaniel Tomasello and Rachel Spung all of Monterey, CA, brothers and sisters, Robert and William McCance both of California, Doris Peterman and Marie McWilliams both of Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.
At her request no services will be held.
