Joan Wheeland
Died February 17, 2007
Joan Elizabeth Wheeland passed away February 17, 2007. Joan was born November 18, 1937 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Russell and Nettie Shoemaker. She is survived by Hoyt Wheeland of Taos, NM, husband of 44 years, daughter Stacey Elizabeth Hammond of Taos, brother Russell Gerald Shoemaker of Albany, OH, grandchildren Jillian Summer Elizabeth Huether of Taos, Cody Alan Stephen Hammond of Taos, Vanessa Nicole Wheeland of Fort Knox, KY, and Julian Stuart Wheeland of Kiowa, OK, and her cat, Licorice. She is predeceased by sons Mark David Wheeland and Hoyt Stephen Wheeland, by her father and mother, and by a brother, Paul Shoemaker. In addition to being a stay-at-home Mom, Joan's professional career included being Manager of Employment Services for the American Chemical Society.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Taos at a date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to go to the Joan Wheeland Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund at Centinel Bank of Taos, NM, to benefit deserved Taos High School students.

Emily Willbanks
Died February 18, 2007
Emily Willbanks, 76, resident of Los Alamos since 1954 passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2007. She was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on November 25, 1930 (Emily West). She graduated Duke University 1952 with a BS Degree in Physics and Math and earned a MS Degree in Physics from University of New Mexico in 1957. She was a Scientist at Los Alamos from 1954-1990. She married Eugene M. Willbanks October 3, 1959, Eugene died February 11, 1994. Emily, an outdoors woman, loved hiking, scuba diving, downhill and cross country skiing, and tennis.
In her later years she excelled at golf and in 2006 won her senior flight in the New Mexico state championships. Most of all, Emily, was a world traveller who in the last 25 years touched down on every continent. She safarried in Africa, scuba dived along the great barrier reef, played golf in Ireland, helli skied in north America. She lived life to its fullest.
Survived by her New Mexico adopted family of Nick Hunsaker her traveling companion, confidant and dear close friend.
Pamela and Anthony Garcia with their son Michael, who shared many holidays and special family events with Emily. Kurt Edelbrock and his children Kyle and Rayne who thought of Emily as a grandmother to their family. Emily is also survived by her three step children Tom Willbanks of Lake Stevens, Washington, Linda Roberts of Plantersville, Tx., and Kathy Minyard of Farmington, NM and their families. Emily will be missed by all those who were close to her but we will be consoled by the fact that she has now joined Gene and are walking the beaches of heaven together.
There will be a memorial gathering and open house at Emily's home Sunday March 4, 2007 from 1 – 3:30 PM.

Berlinda Vigil
Died February 19, 2007
Berlinda Valencia Vigil, of Arroyo Seco and currently of Penasco passed away on February 19, 2007. She is preceded in death by her brother, Pacomio Valencia and sister, Olivia Martinez. She is survived by her children, Fabian and Kristina Vigil, granddaughter, Stefani Vigil, mother, Locaida Valencia, sisters, Seralia and Lucille, brothers, Tranquelino and Yolando Valencia and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rosary was recited on February 22, 2007 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on February 23, 2007 at at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Penasco. Interment was held at the Morada cemetery in Penasco.

Elvira Sahd
February 19, 2007
Elvira Sahd, 77, of Taos passed away on February 19, 2007. She was a member of the Las Taosenas and the Alter Society. She was a former employee of First State Bank and Centinel Bank. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sahd, parents, Juanita & Maximiano Martinez, brothers, Jose & Levinio Martinez, sisters, Soledad Anaya and Eliza Archuleta. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Sahd, granddaughter, Elizabeth Sahd-Andler, sister, Raquel Garcia, brothers, Epifanio Martinez, Palemon Martinez (Neoma) and Robert Martinez, sisters in law, Patty Sahd, Casilda Martinez, Betty Martinez, Agnes MacKaron , Jeannie Sahd, Bertha Deluca, Cordy Sahd-Bagwell, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on February 21, 2007. Funeral mass was held on February 22, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Ramona Chackee
Died February 21, 2007
Ramona "Mo" Chackee, 26, of Las Colonias passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2007. She is preceded in death by her grandmothers, Eloisa Archuleta, Mary Schlosser and Teodora Flores. She is survived by her daughters, Maribel and Eloisa Chackee, mother, Annette Chackee, father, David Arnold Flores, sisters, Sarah Flores (Cesar Leon) and Carlotta Flores (Juan Camacho), grandfathers, Serafin Flores and George Espinoza and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on February 23, 2007. Funeral mass was held on February 24, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Las Cruces cemetery.

Todd Hartung
Died February 23, 2007
Todd W. Hartung, 64, of Questa went to walk the golden road with his Lord and Savior on February 23, 2007. He was the son of Frank & Gail Hartung. He worked at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods section for 8 years. Prior to moving to Taos he worked as a computer analyst for 20 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Hartung. He left behind his loving wife, Charlene Hartung, children, Heather Kellogg (James)of Wylie, TX and Aaron Hartung (Sarah) of Salem, OR, mother, Gail Hartung of Tickfaw, LA and sister, Jill Martinez (Arthur) of Tickfaw, LA, his two soon to be born granddaughters, Destiny & Hannah, several nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of his life was held on March 03, 2007 at Faith Mountain Fellowship Church in Red River. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Todd's name to P.O. Box 617, Questa, NM 87556.

Maria Consuelo Mares
Died February 24, 2007
Maria Consuelo "Connie" Mares, 76, of Canon passed away on February 24, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo Mares, parents, Antonio & Anita Sanchez, sisters, Marcelina Santistevan and Lucilla Quintana, brothers, Aurelio & Juan Sanchez. She is survived by her children, Alfred R. Mares (Deborah) of Albuquerque, Vickie R. Rodriguez (Teodoro) of Grants, Mike Mares (Roberta) of Ranchos de Taos, JoAnne Sandoval (Tommy) of Taos, Elsie Marquez (Vicente) of Tulsa, OK, Larry, George and Alice Mares all of Taos. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother, Ben Sanchez, sisters, Lucinda Velasquez and Vangie Martinez (Antonio) all of Pueblo, CO and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on February 26, 2007. Funeral mass was held on February 27, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Canon.

Rebecca Kittredge
Died February 26, 2007
Rebecca Kittredge, 90, of Arroyo Hondo passed away February 26, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband Julian Kittredge, granddaughter Althea Oakeley, sisters, Gregorita "Ita" Ortega, and Cleo Martinez, brothers Melecio Rael Jr., Eloy Rael and Orlando Rael. She is survived by her children. Louella Oakeley (James) of Arroyo Hondo, Orlinda Kittredge (Bob Young) of Juneau, Alaska and Lorelei Bonk (Duane) of Arroyo Hondo, sisters, Cornelia Kittredge of Arroyo Hondo, Euclides Sohn of Santa Fe, aunt, Carolina Dominguez of Arroyo Hondo, grandchildren, Russell Oakeley (Karen), Joshua Bonk, Sasha Bonk Marchant (Jack), India Young, Hilary Young and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Oakeley, Rianna Oakeley, Dalton Oakeley, Oskar Marchant and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on March 02, 2007. Funeral mass was held on March 03, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Telesfor Salazar
February 28, 2007
Telesfor Salazar, 81, of Valdez passed away on February 28, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benardo & Victoriana Salazar, brothers, Alejandro Martinez and Felimon Salazar and sister, Arabella Apodaca. He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena, children, Billy (Nancy), Vickie (Meliton), Robert, Mary Ann, Jesse (Maggie). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters, Anita Varos (Clarence) and Lydia Abeyta, sister in law, Flora Salazar and many other relatives.
Rosaries were recited on March 01, 2007 and March 02, 2007 at San Antonio Catholic Church in Valdez. Funeral mass was held on March 03, 2007 at San Antonio Church. Interment was held at Valdez cemetery.

Peggy Barela
Died March 2, 2007
Peggy Barela, 45, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on March 02, 2007. She is preceded in death by her father, Eddie Barela, brother, Dwayne Barela, grandparents, Joe Ben Griego, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Barela. She is survived by her sons, Steven & Michael, mother, Ruby Martinez, sister, Edwina Barela, grandmother, Felicita Griego and many other relatives.
Memorial service was held on March 14, 2007 at Rivera Chapel.

Geneva Huffman
Died March 5, 2007
Geneva Huffman, 78, of El Prado passed away on March 05, 2007. She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Kramer. She is survived by her children, Sharon Belcher (Ed) of El Prado, NM, Debra Hill (Gregory) of Houston, TX and Timothy Kramer (Lori) of Rives Junction, Michigan, grandchildren, Nicholas, Jeremy and Jason Kramer and niece, Linda Serbantez.
Memorial service will be held at a later date in Jackson, Michigan.

Amelia Trujillo
Died March 6, 2007
Amelia Trujillo, 94, of Taos passed away on March 06, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Amarante Trujillo, son, Robert Trujillo, grandson, Manuel James Trujillo, brother, Fidel Candelario, sisters, Madelena Martinez, Adelina Trujillo, Teresina Martinez and son in law, Policarpio Torres. She is survived by her children, Loren Torres of Guadalupita, Fidelia Garcia (Herbert) of Valdez, Eloy Trujillo (Janet) of Espanola, Connie Paiz (Flavio) of Cleveland, Eddie Trujillo (Juanita) of Taos, Fabiola Voigt (Guillermo) of Taos, Martha Quintana of Taos, Berlinda Grant (Gilbert) of Thornton, CO, Jerry Trujillo of Albuquerque. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, sister, Cecilia Tafoya and many other relatives.
Evening service will be held on Friday, March 09, 2007 at 7 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 10 AM at Rivera Chapel.

Hamish Richards
Died March 6, 2007
Hamish Richards, 49, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on March 06, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Patricia Ann Hurst and John Allen Richards and stepfather, Arthur Allen Jones. He is survived by his sisters, Augusta Allen Jones of Ranchos de Taos and Farmington "Farmie" Dixon Richards of Spain and numerous friends.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1 PM at St. James Episcopal Church in Taos.

Michael Neglia
Died March 7, 2007
Michael Timm Neglia, 38, of Taos passed away on March 07, 2007. He owned and operated Topline Automotive in Taos and worked in the family business at Taos General Store. He graduated from Palo Alto High School and attended Foothill College in Los Altos, CA. Mike was an avid golfer and motorcycle enthusiast. He is survived by his children, Colin Michael Neglia of Taos, Michael Jarvis and Michael Jacob Neglia of Telkwa, British Columbia, parents, John and Donna Neglia, sister, Lynn Neglia, nephew, Levi Neglia, aunt, Maryann Waters of Farmingdale, NY, cousins, Joseph and Steven.
Memorial service was held on March 15, 2007 at Rivera Chapel.
