Bonifacio Fernandez
Died April 10, 2007
Bonifacio Fernandez, 85, of Taos passed away on April 10, 2007. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margarita Q. Fernandez, daughter, Margaret Quintana and infant son, Lawrence Fernandez. He is survived by his children, David Fernandez (Connie) of Taos, Tomas Fernandez (Victoria) of Santa Fe, Cathy Fernandez (Chris Christiansen) of Albuquerque, Albert Fernandez (Patricia) of Santa Cruz and Christopher Fernandez (Cleo) of Des Montes. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren including Elena Fernandez, whom he raised as a daughter, 2 great grandchildren, son in law, Gerald Quintana and a large and close-knit extended family.
Rosaries were recited on April 12, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and on April 13, 2007 at Rivera Chapel. Funeral mass was held on April 14, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment was held at Dolores cemetery.

Tomas Martinez
Died April 10, 2007

Tomas "Dirty Sally" Martinez, 53, of Taos passed away on April 10, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Irene & Benson Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Trujillo Martinez, children, Rhonda Rael (Victor), Angel and Nora Martinez, Cindy, Dennis, DeAnna and John, brother, Benny Martinez and sister, Sharon Anderson (Bob).
Funeral service was held on April 13, 2007 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.

Richard A. Hartman
Died April 12, 2007
Richard A. Hartman, 86, a resident of Questa, New Mexico, passed away on April 12, 2007. He was born on October 12, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA.
Richard entered the service in July of 1942. He was inducted at Fort Oglethorpe, GA and took basic training at Kessler Field, MS. Fom there he was sent to Buckley Field, CO for Air Armament training, learning everything about airplane armament. In June, 1943, Richard boarded the Queen Mary (which had been converted to a troop ship). Shortly thereafter, he arrived in England and was stationed at Raydon Field, Ipswich. At the end of the war, he was discharged in Atlanta, and returned to Memphis going back to work for Chicago & Southern Airlines. After a short period, he moved to Los Angeles. He was married in 1951 to Jane Thompson and moved to Colorado Springs. Later, they leased a Texaco service station in Fairplay, CO.
He married Cynthia Jane Schweer in 1978 after Jane passed away. He retired in 1982, and he and Cynthia traveled the country together and spent many years in Oakland, CA. Upon Cynthia's retirement they settled in Taos County, New Mexico in early 2006.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW (Missippi), and a member of both the Lions Club and Elks Club.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Cynthia Jane Hartman, his grandson from his first marriage, David Dimond, his nephew, Robert Hartman, stepchildren, Kelli-Jo S. Kipp, Christina Herndon, Todd Schweer, and Eric Schweer (and their many children, whom he also considered his grandchildren), and several cousins.
Graveside services with VFW & Military Honors were held on April 18, 2007 at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Elizabeth Griego
Died April 13, 2007
Elizabeth Griego, 58, of Espanola passed away on April 13, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Griego in 2003, brothers and sisters, Henry, Leo, David, Jimmy, Toby and Ruben Santistevan and Evelyn Medina. She is survived by her sisters, Gloria Alaniz of Espanola and Angie Santistevan of Taos, many nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited on April 15, 2007 at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Graveside service was held on April 16, 2007 at San Jose cemetery in Hernandez.

Manuel Tollardo Sr.
Died April 13, 2007
Manuel Tomas Tollardo Sr., 55, of Taos passed away on April 13, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurelio & Cornelia Tollardo, brothers and sisters, Virgil, and Franklin Tollardo, Angelina Tollardo, Louisa Gomez and Christina Ruiz. He is survived by his wife, Antoinette J. Garcia, children, Carla C. Garcia, Santiago, Manuel II, Rosalie, Maria, Lynn, Juanita and Peter Tollardo. He is also survived by grandchildren, Star, Angel and other grandchildren, brothers, David, Salomon, Elis, Gilbert and Lawrence Tollardo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.
Evening service was held on April 20, 2007 at First Brethren Church.

Roger Chavez III
April 16, 2007
Roger Jesus Chavez III, 27, of Questa passed away unexpectedly on Aril 16, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Tiana Renee Chavez, parents, Roger Chavez II of Questa and Yvonne Renee Chavez, sisters, Nicole Chavez Coleman (John Paul), Sophia and Alice Chavez all of Denver and grandfather, Manuel Chavez of Colorado Springs, Priscilla Chavez of San Jose, CA, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on April 20, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 21, 2007. Both services were held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Questa. Interment was held at Cerro cemetery.

Antoinette Stilwell
Died April 18, 2007
Antoinette Stilwell, 55, of Angel Fire passed away on April 18, 2007. She is survived by her husband, James Stilwell, children, James Williams and Tina Pullium, sisters, Josepina, Prudy and Kathy.
Private family services will be held.

Eileen Liercke
Died April 18, 2007
Eileen "Crickett" Liercke, 46, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 18, 2007. She is survived by children, Kalijah Chavez (Daniel) of Pueblo, CO, Mia Hayward of Costa Rica, Jose Archuleta of Taos and Liberty Liercke of Chico, CA, parents, Ralph & Dora Hawkins of Pueblo, CO, siblings, Dale Hawkins (Donna) of Las Vegas, NV, Kretha Colcord (Don) of Nucla, CO and Russell Hawkins (Natalie) of Kentwood, Michigan, special friends, Steve Borkert, Tillie Rael, Andrellita Chavez and sons, Tresa & Favian Trujillo and Shambu.
Memorial service was held on April 28, 2007 at Taos Living Water Apostolic Church.

Jose Abiguel Maes
Died April 24, 2007
Jose Abiguel Maes, 94, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 24, 2007. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lourdes Maes. He is survived by his children, Imelda Abeita (Fernando) of Isleta Pueblo, David Maes (Margarita) of Mexico City, Michael Maes (Bernadette) of Ranchos de Taos, Bernadette Bachtel (Charles) of Rio Rancho and Mary Agnes Burlingame (Yost) of Taos. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, sisters and brothers, Margarita Anaya of Taos, Sister Maria Maez of Michigan, Paul Maes (Mary Alice) of Albuquerque, Herman Maes (Ruth) of Espanola and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on April 25, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 26, 2007. Both services were held at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Interment was held on April 27, 2007 at Santa Fe National cemetery.

Martha Vargas
April 24, 2007
Martha Vargas, 83, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on April 24, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Vargas in 2001, infant son, Donald, infant grandson, Arturo Lauro Vargas and infant great grandson, Jonathan Montoya. Martha and her husband, Robert operated Vargas Paint & Tile from 1961 until 1981, since then, their daughters have operated the business. During WWII, Martha was a welder in the ship yards of San Francisco, CA, a real "Rosie the Riveter". She is survived by her children, Arthur E. Vargas of Las Vegas, Christine A. Vargas, Patricia C. Vargas and Viviana Vargas-Gonzales (Raymond) all of Ranchos de Taos. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and brother, Joe LaCombe (Laura) of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the New Llano Quemado cemetery.

Marion Williams
Died April 25, 2007
Marion Merelene Williams, 66, of Sunshine Valley passed away on April 25, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Williams. She is survived by her children, William Robert Williams of Sunshine Valley and Shona Williams of Santa Fe, grandchildren, Patrick Marcos Dominguez (Mandy) of Phoenix, AZ, Joey and Coby Williams of Santa Fe, great grandchildren, Marcos, Cristashia and Jesse James Dominguez.

Casilda Jaramillo
April 27, 2007
Casilda G. Jaramillo, 91, of Las Colonias passed away on April 27, 2007. She was a school teacher for 35 years for the Taos Municipal Schools. She is preceded in death by her parents, Feliberto Garcia and Escolastica Vigil, husband, Martin Jaramillo, nephew, Leroy L. Martinez (Helen), brother, Eugenio Garcia (Ernestina) and brother in law, Joe A. Martinez. She is survived by her sisters, Consuelo "Connie" Martinez of Dixon and Angie Graham (Alfonso) of Portales, brother, Gustavo Garcia (Christine) of Las Colonias, and Maria Socorro Garcia of Penasco, whom she loved like a daughter and many nephews, nieces and other relatives.
Rosary was recited on April 29, 2007. Funeral mass was held on April 30, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment was held at Sierra Vista cemetery.

Robet J. Williams
Died April 29, 2007
Robert J. Williams, 64, of Llano Quemado passed away on April 29, 2007. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for many years at the Moly Mine, also at the mine in Summitville, CO, he also worked at Johnson controls in Los Alamos before retiring. He spent most of his days in his garden, planting trees at home and for his kids and neighbors. He loved spending time with his cats and dogs. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Frances Williams, brothers, Albert and Lou Williams. He is survived by his wife, Julia Williams, children, Robert Williams (Alice), Frances Trujillo (Brian), Maxine Thomas (Steve), Paul Williams and grandson he raised, Marcus Martinez. He is also survived by grandchildren, Margo, Brittney, Brandie, Brianne, Krista, Oneta, Erin, Daniel and Emily, sisters and brothers, Jenny Martinez (Louis), Shirley Lucero (Bob), Veronica Carrillo (Tony), Vince Williams, Rose Williams and Richard Williams and many other relatives.
Evening service was held on May 01, 2007. Funeral services were held on May 02, 2007. Both services were held at Rivera Chapel. Interment was held at the New Llano Quemado cemetery.

Esther Veronica Lopez
May 2, 2007
Esther Veronica Lopez, 86, of Cerro passed away on May 02, 2007. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marcos Marcelino Lopez Jr., parents, Luis and Adela Herrera, sons in law, Steve Garcia and Bob Ackley, sister, Isabelita and brother, Tom. She is survived by her children, Luisita Ackley of Virginia, Uvaldo Lopez (Elsie) of Ranchos de Taos, Cecilia Perkins of Cerro, Bernadette Garcia of San Antonio, Texas, Erwin Lopez (Margaret) of Pecos, Josefita Khosravi (Amir) of Littleton, CO and Anita Lopez (Henry) of Eagle Nest. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters, Nativadad, Della, Arcelia and Flora and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on May 04, 2007. Funeral mass was held on May 05, 2007. Both services were held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cerro. Interment was held at Cerro cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Charities USA, P.O. Box 7068, Merrifield, VA 22116-7068 or charity of your choice.
