Ima Dean Westfall
Died on April 24, 2008
IIma Dean "Vickie" Westfall, 77, of Questa passed away on April 24, 2008. She is survived by her husband, James Leo Westfall, children, Jerry Sullivan (Jeannie) of Questa, Diana Stone, (Harry) of Rochester, WA and Judy Sullivan of San Leandro, CA, stepchildren, Floyd Westfall (Pam) of Arizona, Jerry Westfall (Donna) of Tennessee and Cathy Stout (Gary) of Tennessee, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many step grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother, Leroy Moyer of Concord, CA, sister, Juanita Good of Folsom, CA and many other relatives.
Private family services will be held.

Rosana Archuleta
Died on May 9, 2008
Rosana Archuleta, 74, of Cerro passed away on May 09, 2008. She is preceded in death by her husband, Reginaldo Archuleta and son, Eric Archuleta. She is survived by her children, Dean Archuleta (Joyce), Judy Archuleta (Frank) and James Archuleta (Viola), companion, Alonzo Quintana, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters and brothers, Feloniz "Effie" Archuleta, Isabel Valdez, Max Martinez (Estella), Lucas Martinez, (Susie), Carlos Martinez (Teresa), Bridget Arellano (Walter), Molly Quintana (Ray), Levy Arellano (Maria) and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on May 12, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Cerro. Funeral mass was held on May 13, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment following at the Cerro cemetery

Liza Arens Jeantete
Liza Arens Jeantete, 39, cherished daughter of Anita Ellison and loving mother of Gabriella Jeantete, 10, her "Baby Doll", passed away unexpectedly at her home in Ranchos de Taos on June 6, 2008. A graduate of Taos High School, Liza continued her education acquiring degrees in accounting and business computer systems. Liza lived life to the fullest; she was passionate about the outdoors, skiing, music and anything that roared. Her brilliant smile and infectious laugh will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, John Arens, and stepfather Robert Ellison.
Visitation and memorial service was held on June 10, 2008 at Rivera Chapel.

Lillian Lucero
Died on June 7, 2008
Lillian Lucero, 81, of Chamisal passed away on June 7, 2008. She along with her husband George Lucero, owned Lucero's Grocery Store in Chamisal. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Lucero. She is survived by her children, Georgia Chavez of Chamisal, Marie Tyler of Chamisal, Joe Rodriguez (Linda) of Chamisal, George Lucero Jr. (Agnes) of Chamisal, David Lucero (Anita) of Chamisal, Frank Lucero of Chamisal, Linda Montoya (Raymond) of El Prado, Norma Fernandez (Leo) of Rio Lucio, Tammy Lucero of Chamisal, Libby Lucero of Chamisal, 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and many other relatives.
Services were held on June 9, 2008 at Rivera Chapel and at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Penasco. Funeral service was held on June 10, 2008 at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Penasco.

Carla Apodaca Martinez
Died on June 1, 2008
Carla Geraldine Apodaca Martinez, 41, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on June 1, 2008. Carla, who was also known as "Carz" and "Carlita", was born in Las Vegas, NM and moved to Taos where she met her beloved husband, Mike Martinez. She graduated from Taos High School in 1984, married , and had their son Eric in 1989. The family lived in Albuquerque where Carla is survived by her husband Mike and son Eric. They also had two daughters, Michelle and Tanya who died at birth. Other survivors include father, Roger T. Apodaca (Theresa), mother, Dolores G. Apodaca, brothers and sisters include Nancy Miera and husband Tony, Rose Marie Apodaca, Roger T. Apodaca, Jr., Raul Apodaca and wife Carla, and Amy Olonia and boyfriend David, mother-in law, Edith Medina (Felipe). Other survivors include numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in New Mexico and Colorado. She is preceded in death by her father in law, Samuel "Fito" Martinez.
Carla was known for her beautiful smile, kind heart and feisty attitude. Everyone who knew Carla was touched by these things. She loved to go riding with Mike wearing her leathers, the wind in her hair and with a great love of freedom that riding gave them. Carla loved her family and was a fantastic cook, her fresh salsas were the best! People who worked with Carla knew how she always brightened their work days. We will miss and love her forever.
Rosary was recited on June 5, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on June 6, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment following at the Old Llano Quemado cemetery.

Richard Neathamer
July 8, 2005
Richard "Rickey" Neathamer, 48, of Taos passed away unexpectedly on July 08, 2005. He worked as a truck driver for Randall Lumber. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack B. Neathamer. He is survived by his mother, Margaret V. Lane of Taos, brothers and sisters, Cathy Thomas (Mike), of Salt Lake City, UT, Michael Neathamer of Angel Fire, Maysel Castillo (Santiago), Charlene Aguilera (Rene) and Margaret Ann Lane (Tito) all of Taos, Charles Lane (Joe) of Nebraska, Heather Lane (Jason) and Freddie Johnson (Lorraine) of both of Taos. He is also survived by godson, Noah Dale Tafoya, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Rosary was recited on Monday, July 11, 2005 at 7 PM Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Abenicio Romero
Died on May 7, 2008
Abenicio V. Romero, 88, of Taos passed away on May 07, 2008. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca W. Romero, parents, Luis & Eva Romero. He is survived by his brothers and sister, Severo L. Romero (Tina) of San Leandro, CA, Luis Romero of San Pablo, CA, Delia M. Maestas of Ranchos de Taos, Edwin Romero (Jessie) of Canon, sister in law, Bibiana W. Gonzalez, many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Rosary was recited on May 9, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on May 10, 2008, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Theodora E. Tafoya
Died on June 4, 2008
Theodora Esther Tafoya, 96, of Taos passed away on June 4, 2008. She is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Tafoya, son, Arturo Tafoya, daughters, Annabelle Tafoya and Patricia Tafoya, grandson, Lloyd Martinez and great grand daughter, Lisa Jenny Chavez. She is survived by children, Toby Tafoya, Chris Tafoya (Judy), Orlando Tafoya (Sara), Ben Tafoya, Ezequiel "Zeke" Tafoya (Estella), Beatrice Tafoya, Elizabeth Vasquez (Procopio), sisters, Rafelita Chacon, Kate Tafoya (Angelo), Adelina Lucero, brother, Orlando Romero, 42 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 7 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Dolores cemetery.

Juanita Viola Varos
Juanita Viola Varos, 86, of Taos passed away on June 05, 2008. She is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Varos. She is survived by her children, Dolores Garcia (Carl) of Nevada, Carmen Burkholder (Harold) of Alabama, Dennis Varos (Pam) of Colorado, Toby Varos (Deena) of Taos, Tomasita Martinez (Sam) of Arroyo Seco, Patricia Duran (Luis) of Arroyo Seco and Juan B. Varos of New York. She is also survived by many grandchildren, sister, Corina Cardenas, brothers, Ben Maestas (Ernesta), Florimel Maestas (Helen), Tomas Maestas (Alice) and many other relatives.
Services will be held on Sunday, June 08, 2008 at 7 PM at Grace Brethren Church in Canon. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 09, 2008 at 10 AM at Grace Brethren Church with interment to follow at the Arroyo Seco cemetery.

Delubino Casias
Death: September 17, 2008
Jose Delubino Casias, 74, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on September 17, 2008. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Casias, daughter, Francis Casias, parents, Jose Delubino and Senovia Casias, brothers and sisters, Celestino, Mariano and Paul Casias, Lucy Romero and Mercedes Rael. He is survived by children, Diana Martinez (Reynaldo), Arturo Casias (Darlene), Darlene Montoya (Mario), Delubino Casias, Jr., Teresita Casias, Mary Ann Casias, Carla Casias (Arturo), Senovia Casias, Melanie Casias (Goyo), grandchildren he raised, Tomas and Stephanie Casias, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Fannie Gaalaas and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 7 PM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 11 AM at San Francisco de Asis Church.

Sam Grant
Died on September 15, 2008
Sam Grant, 65, of Taos passed away after a short illness on September 15, 2008, at his home. Sam was born on May 23, 1943 to Adela Grant.
When Sam was 5 years of age, the Good Lord took his mother, he was then raised by his grandparents, Jake and Crusita Grant. A year later, his grandmother Crusita passed away. Jake later remarried and Sam was then raised by Jake and his wife Mary Grant along with his Tia Aurora Archuleta.
Sam is preceded in death by son, Sammy Grant Jr.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Florie; his daughters, Marlene and husband (Armando Chaires) of Santa Fe, Samantha and husband (Fabian Mascarenas) of Taos and son Jerome, wife (Debbie) Grant of Taos.
Grandchildren: Allyson, Tres, Ashley and Raquel, and 13 God children.
He is survived by his brother Joe (Lemo) Martinez and sister, Linda Grant Salazar.
Other brothers and sisters are the Archuleta’s, +Tomas,+ Arturo, Esther, +Regino, Felix and Libby. The Trujillo’s, Henry, Frances (Chisca), Ramon and James.
Two other important people in his life were his Padrino’s Tito and Eva Romero. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Sam attended Taos High School and Northern NM Community College. Sam was a hard working man, always finding ways to provide for his family. Places of employment, included working for his brother’s Gas Service Station, Pueblo Motors, State Highway Dept, at construction sites, and Moly Corp. Sam retired November 30, 2001 after 25 years of service from the Taos County Housing Authority.
Rosary was recited on September 16, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on September 17, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment following at the Dolores cemetery.

Jose Ralph Mondragon
Died on September 14, 2008
Ralph Mondragon, 88, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on September 14, 2008. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Lucia Mondragon, brothers, Abran and Encarnacion Mondragon and sister, Pita Trujillo. He is survived by his wife, Eliza Mondragon, daughters, Vivian Mondragon, Cecilia Martinez (Edward) and Yolanda Mondragon (Larry), 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brother, Ray Mondragon (Teddy) and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on September 16, 2008 at San Francisco de Asis Church. Funeral mass was held on September 17 at San Francisco de Asis Church with interment following at the National cemetery in Santa Fe.

Elizabeth Lillian Kemp
September 11, 2008
Elizabeth B Kemp, Arroyo Seco, New Mexico, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away in Taos, New Mexico on September 11, 2008 at the age of 88 after a period of failing health.
Betty was born in Pueblo, Colorado and volunteered for the American Red Cross during World War II in the South Pacific. She lived in Hingham, MA for nearly 20 years and then for almost 30 years in Plainfield, CT. Always active in her communities she was a member of the League of Women Voters since 1940, served for several years on her local school board in Plainfield, served on the board of the Windham Area Community Action Program (WACAP), was an active member of the Old Ship Church in Hingham and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brooklyn, CT. She was a justice of the peace and performed many weddings at her lovely antique colonial bed and breakfast, the Isaac Shepherd House, in Central Village (Plainfield), CT. She held several degrees and was always an advocate of education and learning and has volunteered at several libraries.
Betty leaves behind her daughter, Laura LaFlamme, with whom she lived for the past three years in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico and her son, John Kemp, of Irvine, California. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jennifer Bard of Attleboro, Massachusetts and Meghan and Michael Kemp of Irvine, California.

Jose Alberto Romo
Died on September 3, 2008
Jose Alberto Romo, 78, of Talpa passed away on September 3, 2008. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Romo and daughter, Viola Maria Romo, sister, Rose Garcia. He is survived by his children, Eddie Romo, Pauline Vigil, Ruby Mondragon, Marylane Rios, Tony, Raymond and James Romo brother, Julian Romo (Andrea) and sister, Olivia Lucero. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many other relatives.
Rosary was recited on September 4, 2008 at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on September 5, 2008 at San Francisco de Asis Church. Interment followed at the Jesus Nazareno cemetery.
